If you're doing it in the latest version, *set the resolution in Dyntopo to 0.5 instead of 6.* It is the new setting for low poly.
Thanks so much! Def was not getting the same look with 6 lol.
Thank you so much
Thanks dude
Thank you ;)
I need to put 50.00 to achieve the same result. I don't know which setting might be different?
him: 35min
me: 4-5h and a mental breakdown
its not that bad keep trying
DON'T CRY KEEP ON TRYING
Callum Priestley it’s ok long as if you didn’t completely corrupt your first file (like I did) then it should all be good , keep pushing through!
I gave up when I tried to sculpt
@@randomuser1846 I JUST got into sculpting and it's actually a lot of fun.
two things I like about your videos
1. they are not speed modeling videos
2. they are well explained
you are awesome teacher
Yes,as a beginner i get lost in the speed tutorials. They look easy but when i try to make i look the same as in the video,i get lost.I know that people who are intermediate in blender find these "slow" tuts boring, but for me it is a great way to learn new things.
@@_matis_ if someone find it slow they can speed up the video. There is an option there
And no "Draw the rest of the owl" step.
its true
@@sumanaswal6557 similarly ya can slow down speed tutorials lol
You're getting only better at it: info to the point, good pace, optimized workflow, no jokes, no stupid music, no nonsense commentary. I enjoy it as much as the practical information you share.
and no speed modeling :)
But usually some humor and jokes makes it better tho...
Believe me, I love jokes. Of course one or two can benefit a long complex tutorial. Every joke has its purpose though: to help remember smth or to cheer up when smth is too complex. However, most tutorial jokes are not funny (the Guru guy), don't help and even distract from a task. If i want jokes, i watch Louis CK. :) If I want Blender, I watch CG Geek. As simple as that!
Kinda cool a little bit.
I feel like this is a jab at Video Copilot, and I'm not sure if I like it ;-)
Blender 2.83 -

Oi, you fucking legend mate!
Thank you so much!!
omg thanks soo soo soo much!!

*THANK YOU! :)*
For those who can't do vertex paint you may try to add in a node : Shift + A - Input - Vertex Color then plug it in the base color of the island material
thamks mate
Thank you!!!!
thanks
seriously thank you!!!!
life saving tip
For those of you that doesn't get the shortcut Alt + M work (19:50) , in newer versions of blender (2.83+) it's just M to merge something. Hope this helps someone
Thank you so much
Big thanks! That's just what I was stuck on. (latest of many things).

@@nedhater thank youu
lol thank you lots
13:00 When you hit N and see the Transparent Node's options, you have to select the "Options" tab from the side. Then under "Settings" you can choose the Blend Mode.
Thanks for the help!
thank you !
thanks!
I didn't find yet
Omg Blender new UI looks amazing! And so much nicer on the eye, and easier to follow and learn, not to mention comfortable! I love it! I can't wait for it to be officially released on steam. I mean I can download it now, which I am so gonna! c: This so will make me more comfortable and easier for me to continue on working on my game! ♥
Also this tutorial is very helpful, right to the new update, I love it! Keep up the amazing work CG Geek! c:
Edit: That was amazing!
1 h later. so where was I? minute 6?
That is quite depressing to hear...
It be like that sometime.
Hahahaha, Yup!

I laughed at this comment, then looked at my watch and started crying
Thank you!! Great tutorial!! You are great at being succinct and fast without going overly fast. Plus, your recording quality and editing are great. This was super fun to follow!!
Great tutorial!! I just finished this model. Not so easy to follow after all the updates so I thank to all the generous people who comment and help us all along.
Well, that's....pretty cool! You can also get some great and quick results with metaballs for tree leaves.
You're right, that could be cool too!

Thank you for doing this, just got 2.8 and learning low poly - This is perfect, thanks for existing!
"thanks for existing" lol
This video is amazing! you make what seemed impossible to learn and incredibly daunting so easy! I made a little island of my own, and aside from the things blender moved around in the last update, I could follow this so easily! I'm so excited to learn more and do more things! I've never even touched blender before! Subbed, liked, and shared!
My first time ever using blender and I landed on this video. Took me around 2.5 hours to do, but I'm super happy with the result, and feel like I got a good grasp of the controls~ Thanks

How to turn off line of symetry x
@@rlgpardox8940 In Sculpt Mode, go to the top near Dyntopo. To the left, there are three buttons "X, Y, Z", click the X. That should remove symmetry for X. It worked for me

Thanks for this brilliant tutorial. You do such a good job explaining things.
I have been looking for something like this since forever, you're the MVP bud! Thanks a ton!
I basically have my whole summer planned... Learning Blender!! Awesome videos! You’re great to watch!
23:12 If you want the cursor right there: go to Edit Mode, select 1 vertice, right click --> Snap Vertices, Cursor To Selected
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Thank you! This was amazing. I learned so much and am very happy with my final work.
WoW ! You have no idea how much I enjoyed this tutorial 😍
Thank you so much for posting this! Blender has a difficult interface but youve helped make things understandable while also creating something beautiful!
Steve keeps killin it, nice work.
Great as usual!
Waiting for many islands on 3d stock sites)))
Amazing tutorial. Very simple and easy to follow. Great looking environment as well. Good job 👍
So much effort and skill in those videos. Thanks a lot very plain and simple!
6:20 if you're getting sharp outlines be sure to set the dropdown next to *Cavity* to *World*, mine was set to *Screen* by default.
2:18 click on "View" --> "Tool Settings"
Thank you!
Thanks!!!!
Thank you so much!! lol
Thank you
God?
Bravo sir, well taught! Took my about 6 hours but I took my time with some creative liberties. I'm very happy with my result and I love this low poly art style, I'll be using this to build my basics up. Thank you so much, take a well earned sub!
Yesterday I finished the ice cream tutorial and today this one :3 love your videos, you're an excellent teacher !!
I have always wanted to make a lowpoly images, this tutorial really helped.
This is such a very awesome Blender tutorial I love it.
Thanks for the amazing tutorial! For those of you who struggled to make the skin modifier work, and got the exploding mesh effect, make sure you dissolve vertices by pressing X in edit mode, before you start extruding the rest of the tree!
I'm so happy with my final result! Thank you for sharing your process, love the channel..
Thanks for going over vertex paint. Also I was wondering if you ever use the transmission part of the principled shader with a transparent shader to make water or glass? Fresnel is built in.
3:18 for anyone also not finding the mirror button i think with new versions it is to the top right, left from the Dyntopo settingyou will have a selection between xyz
When in sculpt mode, to the left of the dyno drop box theres and x, y, and z
whoa, i remember few months ago i was trying to do this tutorial - but it was too much for me - i was at stage where i had to remind myself how to move everything etc. but now after some time - it's so easy - simple and good that i recomend it for everyone - and don't give up! art takes time!
Nice and easy to understand. Would love to see more of low poly character modeling and for rigging set up. Thanks for the tutorials.
Thank you very much sir...that's what i was looking for....Beginner blender 2.8 tuts....
Your work never fails to amaze me 😀
this was epic, third day for me getting into blender, love it!
Figured out for the vertex paint, when you add the vertex color node in, connect the dot on your Principled BSDF node to the vertex color node (while keeping it connected to the material output). Hope this helps
I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to blender so thank you very much! :D Can you imagine a way to animate the water (or the trees) in some way so the island looks more alive?
Wow that is a beautiful model.
Thanks man! I created a floating island. love the tutorials you're a great teacher.
i'M happy i found this tutorial and this channel to be precise, PERFECT TUTORIAL!
Very nice!! Quick and effective tutorial
"quick" lol 35minutes
19:56 Alt + M became M
Thanks!

Thank you
This is by far the most useful tutorial ive learned from. Thank you!!!!!!!👍🏾👍🏾
Omg congratulations, really beautiful work. Please more low poly tutorials... Thanks! Thanks and Thanks!
6:23 I just spent 15 minutes looking for "shading" thinking that I changed some setting and lost it. Realized that they removed the word "shading" from the drop down menu he clicks on. It's just a triangle next to 4 circles.
can't find it :(
I had the same problem, here is how I solved it: you just have to click on the very right icon next to the 4 circles. it was replaced for the word "shading" there you have the same settings.
Thanks!
a 35 min tutorial took me 4 hours!
Thanks man:)
Do you know how to import the model with colours into Unreal engine? When I import it to UE4 its all white and the colours are separate and can only apply 1 colour. Any help is appreciated
That was very useful! Thanks a lot for sharing it!
For those who want to go further yall can try to add some smoke. It adds a lot more to the overall look.
The tutorial that everyone wants. Excellent work.
realy cool, good tutorial again
For those of you confused about what he did at 7:58 he used the select tool and dragged the box over the two corners of the side he wanted to select, then extruded it, which you can find on the toolbar on the left when in edit mode.
Keep it up Steve Ross!! Another good video!!
we need more and more tutorials like these, thank you man
24:06 he is doing ctrl + L
For copying those balls you can also click the cursor on a new branch, than click shift + d, right mouse button, shift + s > selection to cursor, and select the offset option
Guys as a tip: constantly check if he's in object mode, edit mode, sculpt mode, etc., it'll save you so much trouble.
jup XD
Great tutorial. I haven't touched Blender in a long time and I see I have a lot of catching up to do
this was a great tutorial, cant wait to study more on it!
5 hours later, I did it! really proud of myself. You guys can do it too :)
13:18 I don't see the settings option, help
I´m not shure
Well done
I spend 8 hours, without eat any food
Thanks man
Bro help me pls say me how I can see pain in vertex paint
do more loy poly! :) loved this one
YESSSS I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THISSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great guide. I learned a lot. Thank you!
If you want to perform this operation in the latest version, the operation at 13:16 in the video needs to be performed at the "option" next to it > v
Next to what?
@@bloxdenn3121 in case anyone else is wondering, its an option on the very right side of the "shader editor" window, going vertically along the edge
thank you, i was stuck on this for a while but i figured it out after reading this
thank you so much
For those who had problem finding "few basic paint settings" in vertex paint mode - you can right-click and access brush options
(somewhere around 14:25)
OMG tnx so much bro I was looking for that settings tab for ages:D
HOLY SHIT!! thank you so much for this!!
for some reason i can paint in every color except white :( and i need it for the snowy mountains...
any idea why?
@Nina Marotta u are painting, but the paint is not visible in rendered mode, i have the same problem

awesome, very nice and detailed explanation, easy to follow
excellent! very well explained, thank you
Hi Steve,
Thanks for the tutorial. You've probably stopped using your old animated intro but I was wondering if you could someday make a tutorial on how you made that one. Cheers!!
I can't paint my render in vertex paint, only my solids. 14:20,
I figured it out by watching a minute longer, you have to do the attribute first.
Hooowww? Im a little bit frustrated here, I cant paint
Which attribute? I cant paint to brown

"I'm Impressed" This Is Very Good, I Tried Blender And Couldn't Much, Very Useful Tutorial......
Great tutorial! Not many are this well done and easy to follow!
-Just wished the shortcuts didn't get half cut in edit mode..-
-hmm, can anyone tell me how to select mesh loose parts, like at --25:06-- ?-
-oops, he just told me it's L later in the video xD --26:15-- my fault, nice tutorial!-
*I LUV IT*
Very well done and useful tutorial!
Great tut - as always!
this man really like the word: cute!
Have you used the rock generator add on for blender 2.8? one of the presets is Fake ocean. If you select this, leaving all sliders etc at their default values. it will generate a plane, displaced etc to resemble an ocean, going into wireframe you will see it is a very dense mesh, but if you apply all the modifiers that are on it. then add a disseminate modifier set to collapse with a value between 0.005 and 0.03, and then add a triangulate modifier. you will get quite a nice low poly ocean mesh. final thing to do is make sure shading is set to flat shading
thanks for the tip
No worries. May not be as much use in this particular tutorial, but it is another option
Well done job.
Very good tutorial
Done and dusted thanks cg geek for ur tutorial hoping to finish a lot more blender art🤩😇
Plz make low poly tutorials! Maybe a series teaching fundamentals of low poly .So it will be easy for beginners like me to start in low poly.
23:11 You can move the 3D cursor by Shift+Right Click
Fantastic tutorial, thanks so much for saying aloud which keyboard shortcuts you’re using.
yo! this really looks perfect for my game!
most of them time im looking for how to do the thing that he clicked in the newer version
Well, I managed to create an icosphere.
It probably looks more like an island than my island :P
Im proud of the cube i made in blender
You guys can make a cube ?????#?#?#?@?@?
You can run blender????
It is very well explained and useful thank you !! :D
Great tutorial! :-) I love it!
Tip for game creators:
You dont need to add the water if you want to make the water move and stuff when the player enters the water. Only add water in blender on places where players cant access it otherwise they'll probaly be walking on water like jesus.
bro i cant paint on my mountain for some reason
@@mazin2720 hey do you have the desired faces selected?
6:22 Make sure the Cavity is set to world, not screen.
Thanks 🤗
thank you
That's very cool and useful, thanks!
Wow that island look so cool
They probably updated these settings so under Dyntopo* He makes his resolution to 6. if you do that you will get different results, so the closest i came up with was 0.70 so try it out.
Changing Refine Method from "Subdivide Collapse" to "Collapse Edges" worked for me.
I wish I read your comment 4hrs earlier
Hi!, I'm in a trouble, Vertex Paint doesn't work, i can't pain anything and i don't know why, i was searching and trying but noting happens, Did you know why? i need some help jaja xc
I had trouble with this too but figured it out. On the material tab (red ball 2nd from bottom) click the small circle next to the color in the Base Color selector. Change this to Vertex Color.
