I'm glad that you told us you hit the corium because no matter how good we can be at something mistakes do sometimes happen and so it's nice to see that even you do and even better that you don't hide it. Big fan of you Graeme I'm glad you help the cows stay healthy
@@TheHoofGP aaaahhh! Yous replied thats mental lol cheers. Quick question, some older vids i saw graham wearin the big weldin face shield but not so much now, how does he decide wen to wear it? Or not to?
I reckon it depends on how many times he's been told of in the comments. He then wears it to keep us quiet and happy and when he thinks we've forgotten he stops wearing it 😂❤
Thank you for telling what the dew claws were originally needed. They look so odd just poking out without a job to do. I can now pass this information on if someone wonders. I love that you teach us the functions of the hoof.
Interesting. Horses have chestnuts on their legs, which are protrusions made of horn. They are also a product of evolution. Horses used to have several toes. Modern day horses walk on one of those toes (the hoof). The other toes don't touch the ground, they are rudimentary toes that are basically growths made of horn.
@@bossmare1480I have lost count of how many people have called me over to evaluate the ergot, when they think it suddenly appeared and is some kind of wound or harmful growth.
Okay I was totally not expecting that much of her hoof to be detached and come away like an insole from a boot. Holy smokes, I can’t imagine what that was like to walk on. Yikes! I love seeing their foot just before you wrap it, it just looks like it must feel so much better. Love your videos and never get tired of them. ❤❤
With how many videos of yours ive watched this actually looked like a very clean trim. Everything coming off in very satisfying chunks. Great job and great vid.
It hurt me to see this cow in pain! It just looks so painful! And you had to take so much hoof horn! But I’m thanking God that you know what you’re doing! Thanks for sharing another great video, Graem!❤
Really well done video. I'm sure the cow really appreciated that. I really like the timeline of the video and the video shots are really good too. Have a good day your friend John from VT.
Such a quick video, but you covered so much! Even if one had never seen one of your videos before, I think most people would know what you're talking about. You're such a good teacher.
Wowie; The whole sole. Poor girlie. Really good to see y'all. Thank you for the video. I know things must be super busy for y'all with the end of the year, the holidays, etc. - appreciate y'all.
Poor girl,,my feet hurt too when I was pregnant,,lol It's so amazing how a tiny black spot can lead to having the entire sole removed,,,poor girl! Infection must spread really fast in cows? Good thing she has the HoofGP to help her get better and recover,,your the best Graeme!!!
I love watching these videos & seeing you help these cows, even if it's just routine trims. I get excited when I see a new video I haven't watched yet 😊
I am new to your channel. I am finding it very interesting watching all your previous content. For some unknown reason to myself I find what you are doing for these cows and how you perform your work fascinating. The skill, knowledge and care that you bring to these cows is inspiring. I have binge watched your content and am now watching content from three years ago. I think this would consider me part of your herd. I may not always comment, but I will always watch and smash all the buttons. Thank you for the work you do to make these videos, it is not easy editing and making content I know. Cheers from South Australia
Hi HGP, Really missing the half hour or more videos you use to make along with the intro’s, not sure if lots of other have complained that they are too long or that they don’t like the intro’s or if you have decided yourself to change it up but I miss them 😢. Love all your videos and the explanations that go into all the cows that have major issues and the progression of each of them. keep up the awesome work you and your team provide to the livestock living in your area and country, god bless you!!!
I saw the black spot near the toe before the cracked heel but I knew there would be trouble. That must be quite uncomfortable, being pregnant in the crush, I know you would have made it quick for her! Thank you for giving her a nice pedicure and pain relief!💕🇨🇦
Thank you for such a wonderful idea! This has so many possibilities cheese or no cheese? So many different ways this recipe could be modified to make different types of snacks! I just found your channel about 20 episodes and 6 hours ago. I'm finally understanding the Scottish accent and what's being said. 30 years ago I raised dairy goats and now I'm missing trimming their hooves. I do love your personality, and the accent. Although you might have a hard time with my southern Alabama accent.
🎄❤️🎄🎅🏼🎄❤️🎄🎅🏼🎄❤️Wow, Hoof GP, I’ve never seen you go so deep into the hoof. Hope she heals well. Wanna see the baby cow when she comes. ❤❤❤That was a super big boo-boo. 😮😮😮😮 Sending best best wishes to you and your family for a happy happy holiday season!! ❄️🎅🏼❄️🎅🏼❄️🎅🏼❄️🎅🏼❄️🎅🏼❄️🎅🏼❄️🎅🏼❄️
Thanks for explaining about the dew claws a couple videos ago. (If I watch on a big screen I can’t comment as easily). That was an excellent explanation. I thought they might have evolved as sliders for downhill ricks- not to keep from sinking into soft substrate. And I gather they form in z similar manner to their horns-a living core of tissue at the base which pushes the rest forward Interesting to see therefore how you judged the time to stop slicing
I miss your videos that are like 15 20 minutes long i could seriously watch all day and all night long ❤ i seriously can't get enough its so satisfying to watch from start to finish ❤
I grew up around horses ,and know a couple of farriers, but have never heard of cows getting trimmed. Is it just dairy cows and bulls that get trimmed? What about range cattle? It seems like a whole different skill set, than shoeing a horse. Glad to know there are people making the life of cows more comfortable and a bit easier.
I like the fact that when u make a mistake you own it! seen other channels that try and make excuses and not own that yall arent perfect and it happens to the best of yall at some point!
Ok, This might be a dumb question, are cows feet ticklish? I have 4 Golden Retriever, they all around 90lbs and the vet helped me to pick out the biggest, strongest nail clipper I can for their big thick nails, I sort of shave off a bit of nail at a time with clippers because I’m terrified of taking too much off and them hurt/bleeding, some of the nails are black so I’m extra careful with those as I can’t see the vein that the quick is and anytime I touch their paws/feet after the trim for especially with the electric tool to polish the nails any sharp part of the nail down and so they don’t hurt us if they jump up doing the happy dance to greet us they don’t scratch or snag out clothes, they jump and will pull their feet away in their mouth and act so immediately ticklish, they will either put that foot in their mouth, or run away just because I’m taking too long the other Golden’s like “I believe it’s his turn getting the tickle’s! Granted they don’t have thick feet to grind down, but if their paw pads feel rough and have rough paw pads from walking on the sidewalks, I’ll take a regular people nail file and make the paw smooth, and always finish it off with their lotion, they can’t take it for long lol 😂 I admit I tease them and barely touching the short fur between the paw pads and omg they will yank that foot away, it’s hilarious! Do cows get ticklish? We had their dewclaws removed the day they were born. But they’ve never had any injuries to the nails. But they are like looking around for a funny escape as if to say “Guys she’s being weird again!!” 😂

Oh poor girl. I cannot imagine being so pregnant and having to stand on a foot like that. Good work gentlemen on taking care of that poor mama.

Don't forget the ergot at base of the fetlock. 😉
Yes, cattle are even toed ungulates and horses are odd toed ungulates. Cetaceans address also ungulates, which still feels weird
Interesting!
