Didn't know Shannon knew baseball like that, very nice. He is absolutely correct in baseball your postseason success doesn't out weight your regular season greatness. Barry Bonds, Ken Griffey Jr, Ted Williams all never won a ring or had much postseason success, they are still objectively some of the greatest ever.
I definitely get the point, but there's a couple issues. One, I think your player selection was bad. Griffey hit .290, Bonds (while he had his early struggles) still has the greatest World Series OPS+ in history, and Ted Williams played only 7 postseason games in his career (and that too came after he went to fight WW2). I'd also argue people view Griffey and Bonds higher than Ted, though I wouldn't agree with that take. Each player succeeded IN SPITE of their team's success - here, Judge is actually pressing his team. The Yankees 1, 2, and 4 are MASHING the ball right now with Judge being an actual hole in the lineup. And two...it can't be overstated enough: this is the New York Yankees. Postseason greatness is PARAMOUNT to your legacy. It's really hard to quantify it, but that's the take. He will be a Yankee great. But you cannot call yourself a legend, especially in New York, if you don't have that. Jeter never won an MVP, Pettite never won a Cy Young. Judge can change the narrative, but there's nothing but speculation.
Subjectively greater, yes. The postseason matters, period. Line up for postseason teams. Pick your team. Freeman is first pick. Judge and Ohtani get picked a bit later.
Disagree on the postseason bit, Griffey was clutch on the Mariners, Bonds played great on the 2002 WS and Ted Williams was playing through an injury, whilst also carrying the '46 Red Sox offense. (He was hit by a pitch on his elbow prior to the 1946 WS starting. He wont use it as an excuse however)
Yes, exactly! Love regular season Kershaw. But he's the WORST post season pitcher of all time. Probably why we are winning this post season because he's not in there to blow a few games.
Yankees didn't forget how to play or hit. what happened is they got met with some big Dawgs the buzzsaw dodgers. also ice cube cleared fat joe with ease on performance shiiiiiit WestCoast all day 😂😂

Ohtani has been way better than Judge. Ohtani has been clutch all postseason. Hes not had a great postseason but hes been clutch. ohtani hasn’t really done much this world series it’s just the dodgers are the better team. yankees meanwhile centered their whole team around aaron judge to perform and if he doesn’t the whole offense just can’t produce
Sure, ohtani hasn't done much when it comes to hitting bombs. But saying ohtani's performance is the same as judges in the world series is crazy. Because Ohtani has gotten on base more the once and has scored runs.
johnsepulvedacruz says it best there but he didn’t go into much details. I don’t think most people realize how important Shohei Ohtani is to the Dodgers. People who says that Shohei Ohtani is not needed for the Dodgers to win the World Series against the Yankees has very little if any idea at all of what Ohtani brings to the game of baseball. First there is the financial and ratings aspect but that’s a whole different topic by itself. Shohei Ohtani is a big psychological factor when he’s in the game. He not only provides confidence for his team but also instill fear into his opponent. The Yankees has a game plan just to contain Ohtani. Even if he goes 0 for 42 in a seven game series Ohtani is still mighty important. No team will walk a player to let Ohtani bat as we had seen numerous times with Aaron Judge. Game 1 in both the Padres series and this World Series with the Yankees is basically a win or go home game. Without Ohtani’s 3 run home run in game 1 against the Padres, the Dodgers are most likely being swept 3-0 by the Padres and there would be no game 4 and game 5 for the Dodgers pitchers (especially it’s bullpen) to shine. With the latter against the Yankees, Ohtani was the catalyst and the driving force to allow Freeman to have a chance to hit that grand slam. Otherwise, the Dodgers would most likely lose game 1 to the Yankees and this World Series would be a very different World Series.
@@jacobbxd i agree, the dodgers are the better Team but ohtani this postseason has done alot in the clutch. Little details that matter alot. Judge has been horrible i dont think judge replaced with ohtani they lost against padres or mets. Hes been that bad. Ohtani has done alot in the clutch.
Baseball is different from basketball where basketball players see the same double team and elite defender all season. Baseball post season you go against the entire bullpen and the stars get the worst matchups.
To be fair to judge last year we were a 100+ win team (dodgers) and we got swept by AZ in the first round mookie and freddy freeman went for like 1 for 21 combined a complete no show so I understand how Yankee fans feel..I'm glad the whole team is hot this post season
They’ve at least came thru in past postseasons to help their team win a ring unlike judge He’s been to the playoffs almost every year and he’s hitting under .200 for his career in the postseason
Marcus Siemen of the Rangers very similar, didn’t homer in the wild card, divisional, ALCS, and Siemen Homered in game game 5 in the World Series and game 4, homered when it mattered like freeman
Can't compare what teams do in the regular season to the postseason. You get to play bad teams almost every week in the regular season. Yankees went through one of the worst stretches of any playoff team in midseason so this isn't surprising that they'd have a bad WS.
It's not "nerves", it's not "choking". It's the opposing team doing an excellent job in scouting and locking down on star players. These players just need to make an adjustment. Unfortunately, there are no one-hundred some games to make an adjustment. Postseason games are very, very short, not enough time to make an adjustment. So, just keep playing.
I've said it once. I'll say it a thousand times. When Stephen A Smith picks your team, it's over b4 it starts. Dodgers will be right back there next year As for the Yankees, it may be another 15 year wait
Mets fan here. Tried to warn my Yanks relatives. They know now. LA is no joke. You have to be damn near perfect to beat them. Yanks have been pitching LA well for the most part, they haven’t been shut out or blown out. But even the Mets who got blown out a few times, won 2 games against LA.
Alot of the time the batter gets blamed that he choked without regard to the notion that great pitching beats great batting. The Dodger pitching staff is in a good place right now and that does'nt bold well for Yankee hitters which include Juan Soto who came up to the plate a couple of times with men on base and did'nt come through.
It's true the line up is not that good man we need to get rid of some people and add some better hitters. Judge feels all the pressure he's just not living up to it right now it's happened to the best of them. Bonds,A Rod,,Bonilla a lot of great players have choked in the playoffs just got to get over the hump one time and it helps to give you that confidence judge just presses way too much. This team is 2 predicated on his success to win that spells for Doom. Dodgers were the same way before they got ohtani. If Beets and Freeman didn't hit they lose. So right now Soto and judge are not performing they are getting outplayed by Freeman Betts and Ohtani plain and simple. But it's not like the Dodgers are scoring 10 runs a game. The Yankees pitching has been good enough to win. The hitting is the problem.
So happy right now. It amazes me how a guy born, raised and bred in Queens, NY could even consider those Yankees as his team. This guy is the epitome of front-running.
I get what you’re saying but with Stephen A is saying Judge been struggling in the postseason for a while now. Meanwhile this is Ohtani first trip to the postseason so we kinda knew he’s was gonna struggle
@@crdudleyYeah, even if the primary reason is a more beneficial hitting matchup, whenever the Dodgers platoon someone in you have a clear understanding of what they are bringing to the team offensively and defensively. The Yankees just feel like they are throwing guys out there because it's all they have, and they're pretty much all a downgrade from the person they're replacing.

Dodgers were locked in to win the moment Shohei signed. There was a brief period when pitchers got injured and then Freeman hurt his ankle where things were a bit up in the air. But Dodgers were always favored, they have the most talent by far 1-9

Last night he got a walk in 1st inning. Four pitch walk which he got just with his aura which lead to a run. Also advanced a run in 3rd that lead to a run. He’s contributing to Dodgers wins still. Very different from Judge’s performance.

@pilot88pro yeah look how that worked out Mr 🤡. They had some of/if not the worse ratings in history. Do you think they'd let that happen again? After all these teams spend, especially the Dodgers? Please. Nothing sells better than rich LA winning in sports. Just saying. Big market teams, especially Cali teams, make headlines and headlines make money. No shortage of money floating around LA. If there team is in the big games, the fans will spend big money. Simple economics. They weren't about to let another small market team in after last season lol. Ohtani and Yamamoto's mega deals have to be justified somehow. With how much everyone rides Shohei, having his team win the big game the same season as his massive contract, now that will sell some stuff and, in turn, also make teams want to spend more. Win win for the league. All about the money 💰 no different than the Rams winning the SuperBowl lol. Spent money on mega stadium, SuperBowl at their home stadium and they win. Convenient? Not so much. Pretty genius honestly and no shortage of idiots who fall for it like yourself. Professional sports are no different than the WWE anymore.
True but Ohtani’s double in game 1 lead to a valuable run. He got injured in game 2 but played last nights game 3. He got on base twice. One contributed to a run. Also advance Edmond to 2nd base in 3rd inning which lead to a run. He is actually contributing to Dodgers win so different with Judge.
@@ace12342 I mean people criticize Judge and I get it but baseball isn’t like basketball where players can shine consistently every game. Players in regular season has stretch of few games where they perform poorly but shine the next game.
Man up and give the Dodgers credit when it's due! Dave Roberts and his team have been absolutely tearing the yankees apart! I think a lot of people out there overhyped the yankees. The dodgers went the most difficult way to get to the world series. That's what made this team unstoppable in the World Series!
I'm in my 50's and haven't watched a series in years, but I watched these games, and my 12 year old me is bummed. The Yankees/Dodgers series of 77', 78' and 81' cover my Little League Years, and it sucks that it isn't competitive.
No one should be surprised. This is who Aaron Judge is and has been: A massive playoff dropper. Also to Shannon's point: postseason performance absolutely changes how I view players. Bonds and Arod, regular season aside, were both massive chokers for the majority of their careers. Both had one, maybe two good postseasons out of many. Both had odd disappearing habits. I like guys who show up.
I guess Ohtani's entire postseason performance is apparently null and void because he didn’t instantly transform into Superman in just the first TWO games of a SEVEN-game series, before an injury thoroughly disrupted his swing, leaving him one-handed. Oh, and sure, let’s just conveniently ignore that no Dodger has racked up more than 4 hits so far this series. Apparently, everyone else is just smashing it out of the park like rockstars, consistently going 4 for 5 with at least 5 RBIs in each of these 3 games, while Ohtani was catching some Z’s, right? And remind me, wasn’t it just last season when Mookie and Freeman went 1-21 combined in their unforgettable sweep by Arizona? Shocker, athletes sometimes don’t start smashing records in a stretch of 2 or 3 games. And don’t even get me started on Game 1 of the WS. You would think Ohtani’s clutch double, which tied it up 2-2 in the 8th and set the stage for Freddie’s grand slam heroics, didn’t exist. Without that glorious swing, the Yankees would have practically waltzed through Game 1 without a scratch from that spirit-crushing walk-off. But sure, let’s pretend that spark for the Dodgers was totally irrelevant. Obviously, the series MVP, who spent the entire postseason hobbling around on an injured ankle, didn’t need a shred of confidence booster, right? Classic oversight! Seriously, it seems everyone has developed amnesia regarding Ohtani's great LCS performance, where he had 1.184 OPS, .364 batting average, leading with 9 runs all while moonwalking through bases with his 17 TIMES on base. With a mind-boggling .818 with RISP, the dude basically turned baseball into an artform. He was the unsung NLCS MVP. But of course, let's pretend none of that brilliance ever happened, all because he didn't magically materialize more than two hits during just the FIRST two games of a seven-game saga. Clearly, that's the logical way to measure greatness, by dismissing all his dazzling achievements over an entire series in favor of good old micro-focusing on a minor blip.
I mean let's face it , they're really that good. They beat Padres to save elimination , then beat them at home to eliminate them. They destroyed my Mets 1st game , 2nd game, we barely won 2 on them. Even those we won they put up 6 or 7 runs. They literally 12-0 us . They're really good !! They got Betts who got robbed of the MVP last year even the year before.
This is where I miss the Old Man Steinbrenner he would be throwing chairs right now. Judge is Mr. Regular Season NOT Mr. October. As a Yankee fan I'm so dissapointed with the team performance. But have to give credit the Dodgers are a great team

Made a lot of good points, was very surprised
He wont use it as an excuse however)
Yankees are finally playing against a competent team lol
Think we understand what Yankee fans are feeling about Judge we went through it with Kershaw for years.
Yes, exactly! Love regular season Kershaw. But he's the WORST post season pitcher of all time. Probably why we are winning this post season because he's not in there to blow a few games.

Ohtani has been way better than Judge. Ohtani has been clutch all postseason. Hes not had a great postseason but hes been clutch. Game 1 he gets a triple to tie the game with not tying the game the dodgers dont win. Yesterday game he gets a walk and than Freddie scores 2 run homerun. Vs mets he got some rbis like cmon. Dont compare judge with ohtani its not close.
ohtani hasn’t really done much this world series it’s just the dodgers are the better team. yankees meanwhile centered their whole team around aaron judge to perform and if he doesn’t the whole offense just can’t produce
@@jacobbxdhe gets on base
Shohei with a homer to end the WS.
The dodgers are destined for a dynasty
To be fair to judge last year we were a 100+ win team (dodgers) and we got swept by AZ in the first round mookie and freddy freeman went for like 1 for 21 combined a complete no show so I understand how Yankee fans feel..I'm glad the whole team is hot this post season
They’ve at least came thru in past postseasons to help their team win a ring unlike judge
He’s been to the playoffs almost every year and he’s hitting under .200 for his career in the postseason
Marcus Siemen of the Rangers very similar, didn’t homer in the wild card, divisional, ALCS, and Siemen Homered in game game 5 in the World Series and game 4, homered when it mattered like freeman
They make it seem like it's all about the Yankers hitters. The Dodgers pitchers are on fire 🔥
Nah I like Shannon talking baseball. We need more of this. Lets gooooo
bro can talk about golf and still make it interesting lol
Can't compare what teams do in the regular season to the postseason. You get to play bad teams almost every week in the regular season. Yankees went through one of the worst stretches of any playoff team in midseason so this isn't surprising that they'd have a bad WS.
It’s ok at least he got the cowboy to make fun of 😎
At least Ohtani hit the triple that made them go to extra innings on game 1.
As a Cowboys and Dodgers fan, I am enjoying this.
Me too!!😊
It's not "nerves", it's not "choking". It's the opposing team doing an excellent job in scouting and locking down on star players. These players just need to make an adjustment. Unfortunately, there are no one-hundred some games to make an adjustment. Postseason games are very, very short, not enough time to make an adjustment. So, just keep playing.
Good observation, but I truly believe that Judge's nerves are fried because he knows that everyone looks to him to be the Man.
I've said it once. I'll say it a thousand times.
When Stephen A Smith picks your team, it's over b4 it starts. Dodgers will be right back there next year

Man up and give the Dodgers credit when it's due! Dave Roberts and his team have been absolutely tearing the yankees apart! I think a lot of people out there overhyped the yankees.
They haven’t faced a team like the dodgers!!! Dodgers have been there multiple times just waiting for this classic to happen
0% chance Yankees comeback…..Dave Roberts was part of the Red Sox team that came back from 0-3….hes got Dodgers locked in…🧹
I guess Ohtani's entire postseason performance is apparently null and void because he didn’t instantly transform into Superman in just the first TWO games of a SEVEN-game series, before an injury thoroughly disrupted his swing, leaving him one-handed.
10:50 is what really sent me, “They weren’t supposed to be this good!” is too good from SAS 😂
This is where I miss the Old Man Steinbrenner he would be throwing chairs right now. Judge is Mr. Regular Season NOT Mr. October. As a Yankee fan I'm so dissapointed with the team performance. But have to give credit the Dodgers are a great team
