It used to be that way. At worst, they'd play Liza Minelli's original version after a loss. They may have gone all Sinatra all the time in the early 2000s, I'm guessing?
Yeah idk what Jake was smoking here. This yankees teams has the fundamentals of the 2024 white sox. Im kinda convinced the AL is significantly worse than the NL right now.
I think what he’s getting at is that it’s not a personnel problem. If you swapped players, it wouldn’t matter. If you swapped mentality and prep, it’s a different series. But you can’t trade for discipline, you’ve got to instill it all season.
@@davidechanizjr8843 You know what? You're right. When I saw the clip of them laughing at that fan grabbing Mookie situation, I was incredibly annoyed. So fine yeah I got no sympathy.
What I can say clearly is that the Dodgers had been preparing for 2 years and were serious about it. They acquired Mookie Betts in the 2019 offszn, Bauer in 2020 (but didn't work out), and Freeman in 2021. But 2022 was quiet even though Trea Turner, Justin Turner, Cody Bellinger, Tyler Anderson, and Joey Gallo were gone. The move was clearly a money saver. After holding out for a year, they acquired Ohtani, Yamamoto, Teoscar, and Glasnow, completely revamping their team.
Gotta hand it to Roberts, I was worried that he punted too early on Game 4, when we were only down two runs. But he made the right call: doesn't make sense to waste our much-needed bullpen guys on the chance of a comeback when we're likely to break through at some point over the next three games. We needed every ounce of what Treinen had left to get through that eighth inning.
No Jake the Dodgers aren’t just a good team, they are the 2024 World Series Champions. Get it right Jomboy talking about all the mistakes yanks made including fan interference. Don’t forget you laughed at that interference as it was happening. Still laughing now? You choked, the Dodgers didn’t. They played the players they had and the jobs finished. Kudos to the Dodgers.
Lori, Generational Dodger fan here: We were really hoping for that cool old school rivalry match-up... We couldn't understand many of Boone's choices, particularly putting Nester in against Freeman in game 1. That epic moment set the tone for the entire series. Granted, the Dodgers were hungry for the championship, but it shouldn't have been as one-sided as it was. Thrilled for the Dodgers, but disappointed in the Bronx Bums.
As a rangers fan who vividly remembers 2011, I sympathize with y’all. And I’ll tell you it never gets better cause it’s the World Series, it’ll never be forgotten
These guys are supposed to be professional players. They shouldn't need a coach to tell them what to do. Personal discipline, focus, and professionalism was just missing in this series. Don't give the players a pass.
@@helenjourde9033 It's both. Boone is far too soft on his guys. Everytime they do something wrong he's just like "Oh they're professionals. My guys know what they're doing, they'll adjust." It is on the players but Boone doesn't do anything to help at all, he coddles his guys.
4:36 Jake says the Dodgers aren't a better team, and that the Yankees should've won games 1 and 5, but this is some crazy copium. Can't just pretend these two teams were on the same level and disregard the errors. LA not making those same errors is EXACTLY why they're a better team. The Dodgers were more focused, and had more clutch moments than tbe Yankees did, therefore making them the better team.
That was his point tbf. Talent wise it’s not all that different (dodgers ahead but not by some crazy amount, at least on the field this series) but everything else; fielding, baserunning, managing, the basic baseball fundamentals on the field and between the ears the dodgers are in a different stratosphere then the Yankees.
It’s so funny to try and pull that card especially to me a guardians fan. It’s like saying well if clase didn’t blow 3 games we would have won. The better team always wins in best of 7 series, it’s not march madness, nfl playoffs or any other single elimination game. Btw no one feels bad when you fans throw shit at players, try to steal balls out of gloves, cheer every fly ball like is a home run and expect to win every year 😂😂.
The Yankees absolutely have the talent to go toe to toe with any team, and that’s what’s kept them in the postseason. Combine that with the basic defensive competence of any other team in the playoffs and this is a CLOSE World Series. But it’s the Yankees so they win one game against the dodgers worst pitching staff
It’s a “crapshoot” right Cashmen? Nah, this wasn’t a crapshoot or luck… we lost because we don’t have fundamentals and have no heart. We need a coach that’s willing to tell people like Aaron Judge that if he doesn’t get his shit together, he’s not playing.
such a cringey ass take my god you sports tribalists are stupid. their lack of skill is what killed them. they were outmatched the entire way and already overachieved by making it to the world series.
So much hubris on that Yankees team. You talk about focus, when the Yankees were up 5-0 in that dugout they looked totally disrespectful and unfocused on the uphill battle they had ahead of them that they'd need to conquer to get the title. Then the Dodgers, who've endured the crucible of easily more post-season lost games than any team in the last decade, take absolutely NOTHING for granted, they scrape back with NO home runs, just bleeding the Yankees on their mistakes and brutally punishing every error, ruthlessly tearing the win out of the Yankees mitt. Insane! *Edit* -- I meant they "looked disrespectful" of the fact they needed to win 24 more straight innings. They looked like they thought their task was over, but rather it was just beginning; and just 2 not 22 later they were smote for it lol. Just wanted to clarify I didn't mean that in that "it's rude to celebrate, unspoken rules" bla bla bla way. Just seemed like sweet summer children losing to veterans who've seen too many winters lol.

@@Wjbddskwndkdthe experts in question are morons. The Yankees have been like this all season long but were always bailed out by judge and Soto hitting combined 99 hrs. Sloppy defense, lineup is garbage outside of the big three, base running sucks, anyone would look good going against the AL central cupcake teams like the royals
as a dodgers fan, I think that's fair to say. But we had more grit, more determination, more discipline, and the bottom of our lineup really stepped up big.
From a Dodger fan's perspective. I think the big difference in this series was the manager. One team stayed focused throughout the series and the other team committed WAY too many fundamental errors. it's the little things in baseball that can make you or break you. Both teams were highly talented but one had a better leader. Still, mad respect for the Yankee fans and the organization.
As a Dodger fan. We’ve been through this exact feeling recently. Thanks for the content & grinding boys. You’re allowed to be fans of your team and be biased. I for one appreciate it. First time y’all have been to the WS since starting the progrum. See ya next year
First person I’ve seen who’s isn’t being a total asshole about it. You guys played better baseball. You won it fair and straight up. Sorry about those fans yesterday. We deserved to lose this. Bad managing cost us game 1. We had a chance to survive into extras in game 2, but a decision I will never understand to send Trevino up there just because he’s a righty bat and there’s a lefty pitcher cost us. We could’ve sent Dominguez or Cabrera even though they’re much worse from the right side and versus the left. Again, I think that’s poor management. Game 3 was just awful play on our part. Game 5 was; put simply, the worst baseball I’ve ever seen. This should be going back to LA right now with a great series shaping up. We dropped the ball (literally and figuratively). Well played. Hopefully we will see you here again soon. We have lots of work to do this off-season. It starts with bringing back Soto at all costs. Then there’s more holes to plug. Enjoy the trophy. Once again… sorry about those fans yesterday. If they wanted to stop Mookie from making that catch, then they should’ve swatted the ball away before Mookie could reach it. Doing what they did is inexcusable. Thanks for knocking off the Mets by the way. Thanks for being a good winner. Well done.
@@JG54206 as a dodger fan I appreciate you apologizing about your fans but you really shouldn't have to. This whole ridiculing fan bases over internet behavior and small groups of people at a stadium is getting old. We should all have the intelligence to realize comments on the internet and 0.01% of fan bases at stadiums don't represent a fan base for any team. Seems like just another new annoying thing to add to the list that's happened since social media developed. I honestly didn't get that annoyed at it, fans are angry at their team being down 0-3 and acted out a bit. It's not like they hurt anyone or the out was ruled no catch.
@ @ Yeah it just gets old man. Obviously that was bush league fatherless behavior. It gets to a point where I start to think “do people think we’re all really like that?” I couldn’t imagine paying what those seats must have cost and behaving like that. If you wanna stop that catch from happening, you swat the ball away. Considering you didn’t have to reach over the wall for it, that means if the fans get to it first, it’s fair game… but you’re gonna grab the glove and try and pry the ball out? As though that won’t be seen by the dozens of high definition cameras?
This is probably the biggest choke not only in baseball history but ALL OF SPORTS HISTORY. 200 years from now, this will still be the biggest choke in history.
Bruh I have to admit but Judge sold out this entire postseason just was awful! I can’t believe he was so bad he finally hit a HR and then his defense and focus fails us it’s crazy
@@eamonkelley3811 Agree. All on Cole. All he had to do was what he has done thousands of times since little league and they would be on their way to LA.
Even Sunday league baseball knows that the pitcher has to cover that type of play when the Rizzo went out to get the ball. But you can’t have your star pitcher just point to the bag just standing there
First of all, the reason the Yankees lost was because they relied too much on certain players and had a thin roster. The Dodgers had a deeper roster. Secondly, many Yankees players had an "I'll decide" or "I, I, I" attitude. All of the Dodgers players were committed to team play, saying "Let's just get on base and keep the ball going." I think this difference in awareness of team play was also the cause of the Yankees' three consecutive errors. This shows that a team cannot win just by using money to attract good players.
Just wanna say even though it’s a tough loss, you guys are number 1 at posting, consistency, and heart. Coming from a dodger fan, never miss anything you guys out out

Lmfao blame Boone all you want but that defensive breakdown was horrendous , the Yankees looked like they weren’t trying idk anymore Edit: I get that they fucked up the dodgers in game 4 , but I don’t get their mentality, why is jazz , judge , and Stanton smiling like they just beat their best pitchers, idk if their ego is off the roof , I just don’t understand the mentality of this team anymore
If the Yanks didn't make stupid mistakes, they're up 3-2 going to face Yamamoto. Crazy how it turned on a dime. Not giving a team extra outs is so important.
jake still can’t admit the dodgers *are* a better team HAHAHAHA i almost felt sorry for you guys. i guess that’s just copium. at least he can admit the only game the yanks won was against the dodgers AAA pitching. but that’s some cognitive dissonance, bud.
Statistically, it takes a series longer than the entire MLB season to determine which baseball team is a better team. In this context, Jake means the Yanks are naturally better. He is correct, but it is unlikely they would be able to afford and field that team of natural talent if they also had fundamentals.
Who would doubt the Dodgers are a better team? They were already the best team in baseball before they signed Ohtani, Yamamoto, and Glasnow. I wish they had played anybody but the Yankees because they’re the true villains of baseball but everyone is too pressed by the Yankees to notice
I think what he’s getting at is it isn’t a personnel problem. You swap all the players, and the Yankees still lose. It’s a culture/discipline problem. You can’t excuse poor fundamentals because you can slug like crazy. Flaherity didn’t make it out of the second inning. Yesterday’s starter had to come in as today’s closer. BUT the Yankees blundered 5 runs and 30 something Gerrit Cole pitches. No lineup in history can get away with gifting these dodgers 5 runs. And at the end of the day, defensive competence is probably the simplest thing to make sure you have. Pitching and hitting can be volatile and prone to hot and cold streaks. Defense can almost always be reliable, if you put in the work. Jake’s example of Muncy at third is a perfect representation.
@@charleskorndorffer What does 'Naturally better' means, man the amount of excuses for a team who literally caked walk going to the WS is insane 😅 Dodgers have the best record in baseball playing in NL and cruised the postseason against Padres and Mets which were arguably better than the Yankees and to top it off? I’ve never seen a more poised performance than what Cole did last night. He went through complete hell and stayed stoic and kept making pitches. Very, very few pitchers in the history of the game have the cajones to do that.
maybe at 4 and 2/3 he was too poised; imo he should be held accountable for the 5th. If he follows through with his little league responsibility of covering first, he gets out of a base loaded jam with ZERO allowed
I have a great respect for you guys recording this even though no one would have wanted to. It has been like that for the entire world series more or less. I wish you guys all the success in the world for your dedication to your work. You guys are all classy people.
In the 20+ years being a yankees fan, this has been the most embarassing and worst lost. Worst than that 3-0 meltdown to boston. If the yankees dont resign soto, which i dont think they will they must get a good 1st basemen, 3rd basemen and atleast 1 solid starter.
Even after JUDGE error they were UP 6-5.... so victory in sight. They overcame the 5th inning. Jazz Chisholm tags up at first and almost gets tagged out at 2nd to nullify the Stanton sac fly.... to make it 6-5 ... how does Jazz even get the green light to take the risk ??? Boone didnt even have a plan for that... Stanton was shocked.
We needed this brutal honesty. Thank you guys for the seasons worth of commentary and for telling it just like it is. Couldn’t agree more. Total embarrassment last night.

Yeah they tried to gloss over it, but absolutely no excuse to not cover there. It's the World Series 2out with bases loaded! Can't just assume the other guy's got it, you have to make the safe play. I don't care if he thought it's 99% fine, make sure it's 100.
Cole is lazy...maybe his balls are heavy
Cole did the same thing earlier in the 1st inning as well, stopped mid track and points at first, I don't think it's a mental lapse, prob an ego thing or something.. linked the time in the hightlights

Cashman tries the same thing year after year. It doesn't work. We need change, fans want blood.
There's nothing more frustrating than hearing "New York, New York" after a loss. Absolutely horrific. The song should never play unless they win.
It used to be that way. At worst, they'd play Liza Minelli's original version after a loss. They may have gone all Sinatra all the time in the early 2000s, I'm guessing?

“Montage of blunders” - I think you’ve just given yourself a breakdown assignment, Jim
Anyone who watched the Yankees in 2024 knew that they were totally capable of this kind of implosion.
10:00 Jake puts it best….”The one game you won was off triple a pitching.” Lol
And the "well rested" bullpen covered 6.2 inngings + Buehler 1 inning with only 2 runs as same as Yankee's 2.1 inning. Boone is outplayed by Roberts.
Truth
Gotta hand it to Roberts, I was worried that he punted too early on Game 4, when we were only down two runs. But he made the right call: doesn't make sense to waste our much-needed bullpen guys on the chance of a comeback when we're likely to break through at some point over the next three games. We needed every ounce of what Treinen had left to get through that eighth inning.
No Jake the Dodgers aren’t just a good team, they are the 2024 World Series Champions. Get it right
Jomboy talking about all the mistakes yanks made including fan interference.
Technically, when you look at the mathematics, which you clearly are incapable of doing, the Yankees should have won games 1,2,4 and 5
The Yankees absolutely have the talent to go toe to toe with any team, and that’s what’s kept them in the postseason. Combine that with the basic defensive competence of any other team in the playoffs and this is a CLOSE World Series.
But it’s the Yankees so they win one game against the dodgers worst pitching staff
These two have relentlessly refused to acknowledge how good the dodgers are.

So much hubris on that Yankees team. You talk about focus, when the Yankees were up 5-0 in that dugout they looked totally disrespectful and unfocused on the uphill battle they had ahead of them that they'd need to conquer to get the title.

All of the Dodgers players were committed to team play, saying "Let's just get on base and keep the ball going."
I think this difference in awareness of team play was also the cause of the Yankees' three consecutive errors.

at least he can admit the only game the yanks won was against the dodgers AAA pitching. but that’s some cognitive dissonance, bud.
