  • Watch as i-ACT continue with their bus lane enforcement efforts on EDSA.
DOTr recently released a memo which reiterated that aside from the authorized carousel buses, only marked vehicles performing emergency duties such as ambulances, fire trucks, Philippine National Police (PNP) vehicles and other law enforcement service vehicles are allowed to use the EDSA Busway.

What is sad to see is that when Filipinos live in another country, they follow the rules from that country. But, here we feel it's okay to break the rules, ignore them and even make excuses. Take the bus lane for example, it was built so bus drivers don't need to load/unload anywhere they want. Now that we have a bus lane, other vehicles feel that they can use it as an express lane. Ignorance is annoying. Discipline is a must.

@@mjjjuly you don’t need to travel the world to see how Filipinos live in other countries. With the wide reach of social media, you think Filipinos will not have an idea why our country is being left behind? What I’m pointing here is that we don’t have discipline when we are in our own backyard. Also, why involve OFWs in your comment? I’m generalizing us Filipinos as a whole.

I think the best thing to do moving forward is to ban, revoke the licenses of these drivers to lessen the nuisance drivers on the roads. Ban the license for at least 5 years. The vehicle must also be towed and sent to Towmana Marikina and stay there for 6 months. The drivers also must undergo seminars before obtaining another license. With these measures, traffic would be better off without these nuisance drivers on the roads.

This might be a great idea to enforce the NCAP system in the bus lane, since there are specified vehicles allowed also to use the carousel bus lane. And also it should be more efficient because it can cover great area on the road(along EDSA and with barriers) and it can be monitored 24/7. The apprehension (base from the video) covered only a specified area and time of the day. Hopefully, it is feasible =)

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  10 месяцев назад +7

MMDA were using their NCAP in the bus lane. In fact they had been operating their NCAP for several years, with barely any complaints.
But when the LGUs started doing their own NCAP, in partnership with private companies, they were receiving a LOT of complaints - for various reasons.
A case was filed against the 5 LGUs and a TRO was issued by the Supreme Court.
Unfortunately, the MMDA somehow got thrown into the TRO, even though they weren't a respondent in the case.
So until that TRO is lifted, or the MMDA are excluded, they cannot use their cameras for enforcement.

@@zoedimax yup there are complaints because of its placement and the situational outcomes it gives to the motorists. Agreeing also that there are still irresponsible people who don't renew their license regardless on the system enforced. For me, the bus lane is a more controlled environment so I think the NCAP system or any similar system that can cover the whole EDSA at any given time, would be easier and more effective when implemented. There are still in baby steps in making this work but it is start nevertheless. =)

A fine of 1000 pesos is suitable for first-time offenders. Implementing a real-time monitoring system, accessible to officers, would allow them to track a driver's violations on the bus lane instantly and determine the appropriate incremental penalties.

The Law Enforcement Handheld Mobile Devices (LEHMD) were used by traffic enforcers in Manila. They were first deployed in February 2023, and they were used to issue electronic traffic violation tickets (e-tickets) to erring motorists. The LEHMDs were part of the LTO's digitalization project, which aimed to improve the efficiency and transparency of the traffic enforcement system.
However, the use of LEHMDs was discontinued in June 2023 due to technical problems. The LTO said that the LEHMDs were not properly calibrated, and they were not able to capture clear images of the motorists' vehicles and driver's licenses. The LTO is currently working to fix the technical problems with the LEHMDs, and they are expected to be re-deployed in the near future.

maglagay na lang dapat ng No Contact Apprehension diyan sa Bus Lane. Pag may pumasok na di classified as "Bus," automatic may e-ticket apprehension agad.

Higher fine should be implemented here to make everyone have 2nd thoughts of going to that restricted lane. Make the fine go up to 5000 pesos.

I lived in the Philippines (in particular Metro Manila) for 1 year 2018, I drove all over the place and never got a ticket because I follow the Philippine rules and regulations. Never parked on the street, I have my own garage. It’s that simple. Never will drive a motorcycle in the Philippines either. It’s dangerous (very!). I’ve driving since 1975 here in the U.S.

MMDA and I-ACT really should work with LTO and congress if needed to increase the fines and penalties for illegal use of bus lane and triple that penalty for those who try to escape apprehension.
Php 15,000 minimum penalty sounds good for first offense.
Then let's see how hard headed these drivers are.

I hope itaas ng MMDA ang penalty to 15000 for driving on bus lane. Pati yung ibang violations. Pinaka mababa is 5000 tapos at may 10 points lang ang lisenya na babawasan every time mahuli nababawasan. Pag na ubos yung 10 points 2 years(reset ng points) bago makapag drive ulit yung tao.

The penalty should be loss of license for 30 days with P10k fine, first offense. 60 days and P20k fine for the second offense. 90 days and P30k fine for third violation. More than three violations, permanent loss of drivers license and P50k fine.
