- What are your thoughts about drivers parking on pedestrian crossings and next to fire hydrants?
Watch as the MMDA continue their road clearing efforts, to provide alternative routes to drivers trying to get to work or school.
Note: the thumbnail text is a throwback reference to a previous video, where someone called enforcers "inconsiderate" after they towed a different car off a pedestrian crossing.

Higher penalties should be imposed on the repeated offenders and should be banned in case they reach a limit, for those people to learn.
I agree and there should be no more grace period. Once it's there it should be towed right away.

The penalties should be escalating, meaning it is higher/worse for every repeat violation. For example, first violation can be 1K, second is 2.5K, third is 5K, etc.
I think they should be 5k and above.
Those people who park their vehicle on pedestrian crossings, pwd ramps amd fire hydrants should be automatically included to have a seminar as additional penalty. Repeat violators should have their driver's license revoke!
It's really taking things to the next level, right? When you park slap bang on top of a pedestrian crossing.
i think seminars will do nothing. pinoy are ego minded people we need to attack thier ego so they will listen. or just hurt thier wallet more every time they violate.

I wish they'd taken the opportunity, during the creation of the single ticketing system, to increase the penalties for repeat violators of illegal parking.
Because for many people, it's still cheaper to take an occasional ticket, than to give up space for a garage, or to lease parking.
Or if they can't increase the penalty, make it an instant towing if the vehicle has already been apprehended for illegal parking X number of times before, especially in the same location.
Those people parking on the pedestrian crossings are worse than stupid!

Goooood morning team G.A. and MMDA 👍 seminars aside from the fiines and penalties should be included before they can get their vehicles from TOWMana 👍 6 hour seminar and 3 hours per day . That would be an inconvenience that could deter these frequent violators.

Increase the penalty to php 5k even for first offenders for illegal parking. You need to deter violators.

What we need is strict implementation of the law and heftier fines for these frequent and consistent violators. Lto should monitor these drivers who blatantly disrespect road law, and lto should also implement a faster way of suspension/ revocation of drivers license.
Fines should be higher. P1,000 is so small if you own a vehicle. Should be P5,000 or more. Maybe the towing fee is to low too also and the cost to get the vehicle back is to low also.
Drivers are just not aware (i.e. uneducated) that pedestrian crossings should not be blocked/parked. They probably acquired their license not thru the usual means.
They know, they just don't care.

Lipat nyo ung impound lot somewhere a lot farther than Marikina. Dun sa inconvenient kunin dahil sa layo. Ipadala nyo sa Matnog, Caramoan, Bolinao, o sa Claveria.
I am pleased that sidewalks are being cleared, especially home owners who extend into the sidewalks, what a joy to see the cleanup - I hope people learns what is right and what are not their property.
I agree, it would be nice if people stop treating the sidewalk as an extension of their private property.
Great job mmda and the good leader. They should do a clean up at sauyo road novaliches qc. Hundreds would be ticketed in motorcycle mayhem.

I will never forget what I observed during visits to Malate in 2009 & 2014. A car parking smack in the middle of the road which was packed with traffic. Just locking it up & walking into a mall to go shopping. Not the same vehicle each time. Lots of cases of cars, SUV's & motorcycles parking on the sidewalk. 2023 and it is still the same. Just Sayin

Where do you put the impounding notice if no drivers come out to claim the vehicle? Or what if it's going to park there for days how do the owners know if their vehicle is impounded or carnapped?

Please check E. Santos Ave in Barangay Sumilang in Pasig City. they made the main road into their own parking. also they put barricade upon entering, no one can enter unless you live their. ginawa nilang subdivision kahit na it is a public road of Pasig City.
When violators say "I didn't know" what they mean is ' I don't care'.

1st Offense : 1,000 Pesos
2nd Offense : 5,000 Pesos
3rd Offense : 10,000 Pesos
nth Offense : License Revoke
This should be the fines for those offender. 5k and 10k is not cheap to shell out.
Should be percentage of vehicle cost. Because 10k for motorcycles is really expensive while 10k on that bmw i8 is less than change. Maybe like 5%? 5% for a 60k motorcycle is 3k while 5% for an 8.5m BMW i8 is a whooping 425k
1st offense : 1%
2nd offense : 3%
3rd offense : 5%
This is the only way to make it fair

Impose higher penalties especially for repeat offenders. These people will never learn.
Counterflow ticket? Can MMDA please start ticketing motorbikes on McKinley Road between EDSA and 5th Ave? It would a huge revenue generator as HUNDREDS of bikes use the counterflow lanes with impunity. Of course if Taguig would fix the lights at McKinley and 5th, counterflow violations might be reduced.

I have a question also. The guy with the Rusi motor and no plate. It takes forever to get a plate with the LTO and I heard that if you don't have a plate you can get stopped and ticketed or towed here in Cebu? We got stopped before because we didn't have a plate. The Rusi said they don't have temp plates.
For vehicles that don't have their LTO-issued plate, a temporary plate should be installed.
On a motorcycle, the temporary plate would typically have the MV file number.

Vehicles parked on pedestrian crossings are anti-poor! They prevent the people who can't afford vehicles from crossing the roads properly.
Not only Inconsiderate... But also don't care about safety, I agree higher fines or double the fines, on both pedestrian and bike lanes. It's not only safety but about lives...
Taxi with UVN-229 plate should be dropped from public utilities, if still operating. It just looks so dilapidated. LTFRB should ensure that only safe and comfortable units are used as public transport.

Really can’t understand why some people rather carry their helmets instead of just wearing them..
I can tell you why a lot of people carry a helmet, even if they don't plan to wear it.
It's so that when an enforcer catches them, they can say "but I have a helmet".
And the truth is, many enforcers will just tell them to wear the helmet and then let them go without a penalty.
The moment they get around the corner, they remove the helmet and continue riding. I've seen it all too many times.
Heavier fines, and if driver keeps repeating same offenses, suspension of drivers license, impound of vehicles .
Maybe if they just tow, even if driver shows. Cost and hassle will deture

No helmet tow it, not just ticket. They can just ride again without it if safety is what we're concern about why let them ride off without it again. Parking near fire hydrant, pedestrian etc.tow it no exceptions. Way too lenient this is why no one learns

mate the tow trucks should be using rollers cause they are causing more damage to the transmission esp on auto...
thats the price you pay. if the car owner love thier car so much. park properly or have own car parking area so no one will damage it.

I've never heard of a vehicle being ticketed for parking against the flow of traffic.
As long as parking is actually allowed, for example through a one-side parking ordinance.

tickets should be % based from gross annual income or net worth.. that way, regardless of violator, the weight of penalty is the same for every person rich or poor (edited)
I'm not sure how well that would work because there's lots of people that have super expensive cars, but on paper they earn less than a mid-level office worker.
And there are many luxury cars that are registered to dummy companies or shell companies.
Some people have suggested basing the penalty on the value of the vehicle. I guess that would probably be more effective than basing it on the declared income value.
Although I don't think I'm ready to say that either SHOULD be imposed... just that I think one could potentially be more effective than the other.

Ticket prices for illegal parking should be 1% of the total value of the car that was towed and see the number of violators go down.

And I don't know how many years have you been living in the Philippines and covering this MMDA activities. BUT I SAID IT BEFORE, I'LL SAY IT AGAIN - Filipinos are different kind of species.
HOW DIFFICULT FOR PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND THAT TRAFFIC REGULATIONS must be followed - no more, no lesd.
There should be more a more drastic, stronger system than just issuing tickets. And there are other agencies that has to be involved, foremost is LTO.
