The new bus lane penalties will increase in severity for repeat violators, including seminars, suspension and eventually revocation of drivers license.
While someone has posted the first page of the memo, in the comment section of my Facebook page, I'm not sure whether it's actually been signed and released yet.
I'm hesitant to go into too much detail until it has been officially released.

Unless seizing of vehicle is also part of dealing with the belligerent repeat offenders none of it will make any difference. They disregard the law now, if they have no licence they will still continue driving inconsiderately.
Zero tolerance enforcement backed by a wall to wall social media, radio and tv campaign will be the only way to get the message through that laws and rules make society run smoother

7:24 The bus lane can also be treated same as a railway. Only difference is its via 4 wheels. The railways are also empty most of the time but that's because every couple mins there are trains passing thru the lane. Kudos to the enforcement of MMDA, even though there will always be ignorant people, atleast day by day, violators can or maybe lessened.

    About road signs:
    1. Increase size and visibility
    2. Standardize
    3. Tanggalin ang mga unauthorized and illegal signs sponsored by SOGO and other businesses
    4. Be precise and fair in locating signs to eliminate violation traps
    5. Be accurate with the message conveyed in the sign
    6. Minimize ambiguity with the message and the use of combination of signs to lessen confusion and to avoid corruption
    7. Each and every directional road sign must at least at the lowest level have a municipal resolution or memo for it to legally exist. This means no arbitrary putting up of signs. Again, corruption.

Agree. Thats the first thing I noticed here in the PH when driving versus from where I'm from. the road signs are way too inconsistent in placement and size and are all over the place. I've had many occasions where I almost got a violation especially when driving on a road I'm not familiar with because the sign could be hanging anywhere or sometimes even blocked from view by other signs that are way bigger for some reason. Hard to be consistent following the law when the information is you get while driving is also inconsistent.

One issue with the bus lane violators is that in addition to inconveniencing the buses, during an operation they also inconvenience all the other lanes when they need to be escorted to a safe area for the tickets to be issued. it is evident by repeated violators that they can afford the penalty fee. they should increase to a very stiff penalty fee plus minus the points of the drivers' licenses so they will have a hard time to renew their driver licenses. The LTO administration seems to be just sitting on their assess after seeing all of these in RUclips and other media. I hope they increase the penalty of one bus lane violation to at least 30,000 pesos per violation.

  • @jmlee9756

Penalty for Bus Lane Violators should be minimum of P10,000.
Too many riders with no Driver’s License. Their motorcycles should be towed.
If there are no tow trucks immediately available, hold them on the emergency bays or at some nearby area until the tow trucks arrive.
    Increase penalties by 5X.
MMDA will then have enough funding to hire more enforcers to better manage traffic.

I noticed that those ticketed for wearing slippers are driving scooters and not the underbone motorcycles. The scooter type are have automatic gear shifts not the clutch and manual shifters. Since there is no need for the driver to manually shift gears, it is easy for them just sit on their scooters and drive on without thinking of gears.
If they are using the underbone motorcycles they'd need to depress and hook the shifter, thus encouraging them to wear shoes.
However, regardless of the type of motorcycle they are using, the driver and passenger still need to follow the dress and helmet code.

It can vary hugely based on the area. For example, I could tell you one specific part of EDSA, where you're guaranteed to get one after another, after another, of unlicensed motorcycle drivers.
Many riders have commented in the past that there's an equal number of unlicensed car drivers. While there are some people that drive cars without a license, I can say that based on what I've observed over several years of apprehension, the numbers are not equal at all - not even close.
But regardless of the vehicle type, the same rules should apply 👍

Matagal na yang bus lane only, dami pa violators. Impound kaagad dapat, wala na arteartehan. Confiscate license, redeem after one year,
attend seminar. Pagkatapos pwede magmaneho, pero hindi na niya magagamit ang impounded vehicle, kasi gagawing scrap metal its.

Why not impound the vehicle for 1year n fine the owner/driver P100,000. on the first offence? No exemptions!

Is this solely for bus lane violations? If not, I hope they can also apprehend bus drivers not wearing seatbelt. Might be mistaken but here are some time stamps for reference.
    1:13 - No seatbelt.
    4:03 - No seatbelt.
    7:02 - No seatbelt.
    9:06 - No seatbelt.
    9:45 - No seatbelt.

Maging magalang po tayo, huwag pong dumaan ang mga pribadong sasakyan sa "bus lane" sapagkat para ito sa mga pampublikong bus na nagsisilbi sa ating mga mananakay.

That repeat offender in the Bus Lane should have his license revoked/suspended and his car towed tge next time he gets caught. He is making a mockery of the law and if nothing is done about him, people will start to get the mentality that nothing serious will happen to them if they continue to disobey the law anyway.
