You're too young to realize it, but Nicolas Cage's quirky speaking rhythm as Big Daddy is an homage of Adam West who played Batman in the iconic and campy "Batman" TV series of the 1960s.
I saw it several times but never made that connection.
I was thinking that myself. ;)
Not necessarily. I'm Dasha's age and recognised the same traits. Adam West was a legend and it's good to see his mannerisms paid tribute.
@@Jake-qo3mp Adam We
Nicholas Cage is the best Adam West ever!
The actors who played Kick-Ass and Todd are Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Evan Peters who would go on to play both versions Quicksilver in the MCU and X-Men franchises.
yep its pretty great that they moved from this movie to being Quicksilver
You didn't see that coming, did you?
Not to mention halfway through Godzilla 2014 I realized I was watching a soldier version of Dave Lizewski.
One actor played Kick-Ass, and that's Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
Wait how did I never notice this lmao that's pretty cool
I remember when this came out and there was a minor controversy about the foul language that Hit Girl uses throughout the movie. Eventually one of the people who made the movie (don't remember if it was the director, writer, whatever,) said in an interview that he was really surprised that people were upset about the language and not how many people she kills in brutal fashion. Just goes to show where people's priorities are! LOL
South Park Bigger, Longer, and Uncut still rings true 25 years later.
This movie was a lot of fun, but Hit Girl stole the show. Your reactions to her were priceless. Well done.
Fun fact Chloe Moretz actually knows martial arts.
Big Daddy not only resembles Batman, but is more practical in that he doesn't routinely leave murderous felons alive to hurt other people or endanger Mindy or himself.
I am so happy. I've wanted to see someone react to this for a long time, and this movie is right up Dasha's alley. She will enjoy the action and the humor, and I think she'll love Hitgirl.
17:07 Marty Eisenberg: "He's got a _way_ better costume than Kick-Ass, too."
Todd Haynes: "Yeah."
Marty Eisenberg: "He's got a _cape._ Capes _rock."_
Edna Mode: "Meta-man. Caught on an express elevator! Dyna-guy. Snag on take-off! Splash-down. Sucked into a vortex! _No capes!"_
Dollar Bill caught in a rotating door and shot - Watchmen. Yeah capes suck lol.
I was almost in a car accident and the one who saved the day was the little girl of the other driver.
I pointed at the kid and mimed eating ice cream. The dad nodded and the little girl grinned and did this little happy dance. Very cute.
The music that you liked when Hit Girl first showed up in costume was the theme song from The Banana Splits, a TV show for young children from the late 60s and early 70s. When I saw Kick Ass in the theater when it first came out, I almost fell on the floor laughing when I heard the music.
At 13:15, Nic Cage as Big Daddy was imitating Adam West, who played Batman in the TV show from the 60s.
Little known fact: Aaron Taylor-Johnson was considered to play The Amazing Spider Man, but the part went to Andrew Garfield instead.
Hit Girl’s music is a cover of the theme song from the late 60’s-early 70’s kid’s show “Banana Splits.”
Hit Girl is just phenomenal.
And this film is so cathartic. Great movie.
The daughter is played by Chloe Grace Moretz. She is AWESOME!!
7:29 that gesture represents using either a tiny spoon or key to scoop a bump out of a bag and sniff it, talking from experience 😂
If Dasha went the superhero route she’d be a Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) type. Definitely a badass.
100 💯 agreed.
We need that cosplay... she needs an Instagram account.
@@Mr.Ekshin Her reaction to Slave Leia was "I want that outfit", so there's a few cosplays I'd like to see her do lol.
The point of this movie was to show why superheroes can't exist in real world.
@@user-xx6vy9ri8p Explain Phoenix Jones then.
Any one of us would want to be a superhero when a bad guy is around.
Dasha on the other hand "I would call the police!" 😆
That's why I like this channel.
Did police come after big daddy for the warehouse fire and dead bodies since Marcus called him about it
The mob boss's son is played by Christopher Mintz-Plasse, who also plays Fogel, the nerd lead characters' even nerdier sidekick, in the teen sex comedy Superbad with Michael Cera and Jonah Hill.
The year 2010 had two movies like this, the other one is an unforgettable classic called Super and is directed by James Gunn (who later directed Guardians Of The Galaxy).
I'd highly recommend Super to anyone interested in "realistic" superhero movies (it's still pretty tongue in cheek). Kick Ass is fun, but still heavily comic booky, which makes sense since it was a comic book. Super instead asks what kind of person would put on a costume in the first place and what would it be like if some plain vanilla Joe or Jane decided to be a masked vigilante. It has one of the best endings of any hero movie ever.
@@Mauther There's another movie that came out around the same time called Defendor (yes, misspelled on purpose) that does the same thing. I see that movie and Super as sister movies to each other, as they have the same plot, and are both enjoyable.
Or go waaaay back and see 'The Specials' more of a spoof than an actual superhero movie (no action or fighting whatsoever) Just the mundane daily lives of a crime fighting team.
Oh yeah, written by and co-starring James Gunn.
How about Mystery Men?
I like in this movie Kickass is played by the guy who also played quicksilver in age of ultron and his friend played quicksilver in the X-men movie.
Kick Ass 2 also well worth a watch. Not quite as good as the first movie, but Hit Girl dealing with the school bullies is a priceless scene.
That soundtrack is from a very old kids tv series called The Banana Splits. Looking back I don’t know how they even got that on tv back then - it was nuts.
This movie is one of my favourites. It’s full of nods to really old tv cultural references (Batman, banana splits, mork & Mindy, and lots of others) that young people will mostly miss, along with references to video games (anyone familiar with the Bioshock games knows the significance of Bigdaddy and little girls - that’s not a creepy thing by the way). Plus lots of inappropriate language (which, being Australian, I use a lot)
Epic thumbnail 😂
This is getting weird…
I totally forgot how much I love Nicolas Cage!
In the original comic, when he tells his crush, she calls him a creep and they don't end up together. The comic book was more realistic.
Yeah after seeing this he was really creepy.
I love how you find the bright side of being stuck in a car crusher
I know its just your accent, but i laughed so hard at “its like john wick, fighting with a fleshlight”
So, Aaron Taylor-Johnson who plays Kick-Ass also played Pietro in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Then Evan Peters, his best friend, played the X-Men universe version of Pietro. Pretty cool, right?
small world, right?
Seeing Dasha dressed up like Hit-Girl in the video thumbnail was amazing!
She is copying CineBinge 100%
What the hell is going on?
@@Gnossiene369 go cry about it elsewhere, nobody here is going to care who's copying who.
I got to talk to Chloe ( Hit Girl ) shortly after this movie came out on Twitter a few times when she only had a few followers. Then she got famous and I never heard from her again.
So much of this was shot in Canada.
Mainly Toronto, Hamilton and Montreal.
The miming of "coke" was supposed to represent a little coke spoon used for sniffing. It was going to his nose instead of his mouth.
Aaron Taylor Johnson also went on to play the lead in Godzilla
also Quicksilver in avengers age of Ultron with along his Godzilla co-star Elizabeth Olsen
I didn't know that this was actually a comic book movie 😅 my brother in law told me 😂
This is one of my all time favourite movies. Kick-ass 2 is just as good. You should really watch that next. Brilliant reaction. ✌️♥️🇬🇧
Fun Fact: Nicolas Cage played as the Ghost Rider & Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse.
Noir Spider-Man
And he was almost Superman.
That’s the best thumbnail. You look like you could be the grown up Hit-Girl. If that isn’t your Halloween costume this year, you’re fired. 😆
This is getting weird she is a copycat
The thumbnail certainly...kicks ass! 😃
3:35 The son here, Chris, is McLovin from Superbad. Next time you want to laugh your ass off, check him out in Role Models with Paul Rudd (Ant-Man).
For more of Chloe Grace Moretz (Hit Girl), I recommend Let Me In and Dark Shadows.
Aaron Taylor Johnson is great in Godzilla (2014), which also features his sister from the Marvel universe Elizabeth Olsen.
Someone else recommended Con Air for Nicolas Cage, and that's a solid pick you should definitely react to, but I'm recommending National Treasure as well.
And finally, for a very similar movie by the same director as this one try Kingsman: The Secret Service.
I love the two Kick-Ass movies. The second one is even better! These films are very underrated, not many people have watched them from what I've noticed. It's disappointing, because they're so well done
The music from Hitgirl's first fight is from a children's Saturday morning TV show called The Bananna Splits. It ran in the late 60s or early 70s.
I forgot that the hallway fight scene hitgirl has is now Rhonda Rousey's theme for WWE :D I love it hahaha!
1) I saw this long ago, I found it well made and entertaining.
I think Chloe Grace Moretz was really good in, Let Me In (2010), and my favorite Nicholas Cafe movies are Valley Girl (1983), Raising Arizona (1987), Moonstruck, (1987), The Rock (1996), Matchstick Men (2003).
Both the main character and the one friend end up being Quick Silver later in the MCU.
The jet pack scene is the best part of the movie…. Lol
The music for this is great - by the way, the music playing over the final battle is Adagio for Sunshine, written for a sci-fi movie I think you would like ('Sunshine', by Danny Boyle). It has horror elements, but it's about an attempt to save humanity from a dying Sun. The cast is incredible too.
That would be a sick reaction video
Shes a lil girl just because she can fight doesn't mean she doesn't need to be looked out for. Hes like a big brother o her obviously
Love this Movie. My favorite of 2010. Thanks Dasha.
The song played when Hitgirl was rescuing the boys is a techno version of "Adigo in D Minor".
1:59 Both Quicksilvers in one shot. Avengers 2: Age of Ultron and X-Men: Days of Future Past.
In the sequel there is character literally called MOTHER RUSSIA
Hi Dasha of Russia R., " Hit Girl " is my favorite character. I would have like to have seen this movie in a theater. " Hey! "
This is a good movie to react to and, as usual, you did a terrific job. Very entertaining! You'll have to watch Kick-Ass 2. The main characters return and the action is just as good.
The sequel isn't even close to being as good as the first one. If you want another movie that takes this idea and goes nuts with it, then James Gunn's Super is a way better bet.
Its a surprisingly good sequel IMO
Jim Carey is in kickass 2. That surprised me.
The only good thing about Kick Ass 2, is the Mother Russia's sequence. I would watch the movie again just for that
@@willpina I do have a bit of a thing for Mother Russia weirdly LOL
Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Dave) played Quicksilver in Avengers 2 and Ewan Peters (Todd) played Quiksilver in X-Men. I think Nicholas Cage doesn't need an introduction.
3:30 "Hi. I'm Frank D'Amico. I run a criminal enterprise and I'm very quick to inflict especially brutal punishments on any of my underlings who cross me. But I still make it a point to spend time with my kid because I'm not a monster."
Head bad guy,Mark Strong is in The Kingsman as a good guy
I haven't read it the graphic novel, but I wish the ending of the film would have been more like what I heard from the novel. Ending in heartbreaking disappointment. Much more compelling.
Great reaction Dasha! This is a good movie and I'm glad you enjoyed it. If you want to see another Nicholas Cage (he played Big Daddy) I recommend Con Air. Also please react to Strange Brew for Canada Day. Keep up the great work.
Strange Brew has always been a favorite of mine. Never seen anyone react to it. I quote that movie all the time! Mostly "beauty Clark"
con air was great
@@richardmead5969 It was trash.
@@Dr.Acula76 Yeah it's such a great classic film. And fully Canadian.
@@richardmead5969 I agree and the cast was fantastic.
24:14 There's _another_ fight scene, later in the movie that I've seen described as Hit Girl's best, but personally, I prefer this one. I think she shines more here, because remember, they thought she was _dead._
it's crazy the lil girl really learned how to use that knife during filming. and karate. love your reactions👍✌️✌️
She did it during an interview with Leno or someone
If you liked the game style scene, you need to react to Hardcore Henry.
Which is partly russian movie. Isn't it?
Kick-Ass 2 is also watchable.
You gotta watch more Nick Cage movies. he is americas greatest treasure.
A lot of his movies are really bad, but he's always the best part.
and he's a real face off
and a major con air
God I love watchin you do these, you're so invested in the movies. Kick ass 2 is also a good watch.
Another great superhero comedy is Mystery Men. Also Nick Cage ( Big Daddy) also played another super hero Ghost Rider ( who will be brought back into the MCU)
Yes, Mystery Men (1999) was a lot of fun. 👍
Everyone is waiting for her to react to part 2 for one of the female characters she will enjoy.
Chloë Grace Moretz who played Hit Girl has been in a lot of great films over the years, plus the odd dud here or there, but she's always watchable in everything she does.
Yeah she was recently in Tom & Jerry..
Another good underrated movie is 'Alita Battle Angel'.
One of my favourite films,brilliant.....Hit Girl is awesome
Very enjoyable 32 minutes. Your reactions are so wonderful.
I’m usually not into superhero movies but I liked this one I liked the vibe the violence and the cursing made it different from all the superhero movies that were coming out at the time and now I mean Dead Pool did it but that was six years after this I did like Dead pool also
"Wait'll they get a load of me" - Joker line from Keaton's Batman.
Loved your reactions on this. 😍🙌❤️🔥
For other fun Nicolas Cage movies, you might try Face/Off (1997) or The Rock (1996), or maybe Con-Air (1997) or National Treasure (2004).
Leaving Las Vegas
@@Dr.Acula76 I found that too depressing.
Maybe you can try one or two classics like To Kill A Mockingbird or Roman Holiday. I think you will really enjoy them.
Great reactions to this fun superhero movie, Dasha!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽Kick-Ass 2 was a pretty good movie, too.
Two Quicksilvers for the price of one movie.😁
Thank you for another great reaction to a movie that I like.
You should definitely check out "Lord of War" - Nicolas Cage's best performance yet.
I really like Chloe Grace Moretz's energy, and by now she has grown from a kid into a young woman, but I'm not familiar enough with her work to recommend any of her more recent films. Anyone else have any ideas?
I personally liked Let Me In, Bad Neighbours ( she is in the 2nd movie, but that's a cool fun movie) and Hugo. I'd recommend that, for starters ^^
She was in the re-make of "Carrie" and they had her wear my infamous 'devil scar'. That was weird because _I'm_ the only one worthy of the scar.
Greta is one of her recent movies came out in 2018
there's the 2013 remake of Carrie, Neighbours 2, the 5th wave
I know it's just a B-movie etc. But when K.A. says, "yeah I'd rather die" than watch 3 guys kill someone it gets me right in the feels every time. And the Director had it so he's terrified...
It's great acting all around.
Bring the second movie, please.
Kick-Ass didn't know Red Mist's true nature, true colors and true intentions. It's not his fault Big Daddy got killed. It was Frank.
Dave have metal plates in his skeleton and damaged nerve endings so he survived from getting beat up.
Chlöe Moretz continues to be a wonderful actress to this day. I highly recommend the stalker thriller, _Greta_ - tons of fun!
Most underrated cbm
Yeah this movie is awesome. Great reaction
25:01 Check out how _believably_ bad-ass Hit Girl is in this fight. I mean D'Amico's thugs have her outnumbered, outmuscled and outgunned. All other factors being equal, this would leave her _hopelessly_ at a disadvantage. But all other factors are _not_ equal. Take stock.
First, remember, _every single one_ of them sincerely believed she was dead.
And second, she has these night-vision goggles that allow her to see in an environment in which _all the rest_ of them are stumbling around, blind. And in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.
Let's also make note of the fact that Hit Girl is operating entirely on her _own,_ here. So she doesn't have to worry about things like friendly fire.
How come police did not come after big daddy for the warehouse fire and dead bodies since Marcus called him about it and hit girl for the live broadcast after
watched this before work this morning, perfect timing😅👍
Best superhero movie ever😂😂😂
For me, it's a hard movie to watch, because if you take away the usual expectation of the hero winning the fights and replace it with reality ... it really changes the stakes. It gets so ugly. The scenes with Hit Girl in action are what make this movie and relieve the stress. That's where we shift to superhero mode. No matter how much you train, no one is going to be Hit Girl.
You've become my favorite reactor and your always just so cute 😀
This movie is amazing! The sequel is good too! Hope you react to that one also.
I think that's the reason she is watching this. She had asked for users to recommend movies with Russian characters. And she wasn't just going to jump to watching a sequel in a series without watching what leads up to it. Same with Rocky.
@@IMaximusDMI That is great news. Thanks.
No, the sequel sucks.
@@user-xx6vy9ri8p I'm not a big fan of the ending but I liked the movie in general. I'd say the first one is much better but the 2nd didn't totally suck. :)
Love your thumbnails...they often give me a chuckle.
She also copies CineBinge who does the same and she even took their patron ad word for word. She is a fake. Her reactions are probably too since no credibility now
@@Gnossiene369 Nah, I'll keep watching. Really don't care what you have to say... it's irrelevant to my comment.
Kick-ass is Quicksilver in the MCU. His friend Todd is Quicksilver in X-Men (and fake Pietro).
One of the main villains in "KIckass 2" is named Mother Russia, so Dasha HAS to watch it.
If you liked this, you should watch "Super"
2 Quicksilver MCU and X-men in one movie : )
13:51 lol that line got me
Nicolas Cage took the personality and mannerisms from the Batman TV series from the 60s Adam West character. So he was playing A Batman copy.
Chloe stole this movie.
This is a really fun that does real at times, but a fun escape and I enjoyed your reaction to this Dasha.
