I'm old enough to remember watching this movie when it was originally released. And the part where we see the payoff off of "wax on, wax off, send the floor, etc" I remember in a packed theater being in Stunned silence. It almost brings a tear in my eye.
During the scene where Miyagi kicks the kid in the crotch all the guys in the audience went OOYAH! Including me.
Correction "sand" the floor
Its an epic movie
mmhm. Not only does that stuff improve his form, but also builds muscles that are pretty crucial like shoulders and arms. Of course Daniel didn't see it at first, but it's hard to see at first I think to anyone that what he was trying to teach Daniel would come in handy later on
In the audio commentary Macchio said "I can't even describe the [premiere] audience's reaction to this."
"Wax on, Wax off" literally my parents everytime I had to do some repetitive task around the house.
Mine quoted this movie to me during chores too lol.
It was a meme, before the internet. So many movies and T.V. shows quoted that line.
Mr Miyagi is such a fantastic character, Pat Morita was a great actor
Call me crazy, but he was also good in Collision Course with Jay Leno.
@@christopherlarock9062 I haven't heard of this before, but I have no doubt that Pat Morita was great in it.
@@jeremyfrost2636 It's on RUclips. You can watch it here for free. I still got the DVD.
He was awesome with Nick cage in honeymoon in Vegas lol
This movie is a classic. The year 1984 holds a special place in my heart. It was a great time to be a kid without all the hassles and stress we have today.
🥰
Adults had a lot of hassles and stress back then though. Kids just generally have less.
red dawn came out that year too, saw it at the astro drive in in dallas
Honestly, if you see Pat Morita the guy who who played mr miyagi how he really talked, that guy deserved an oscar for this role.
Sadly Pat Morita is dead, and he was nominated for best supporting actor in this role.
I remember him from a few episodes of MASH and Happy Days.
@@kd5you1 And Sanford & Son.
Morita was a real party guy... Kinda guy that would wake up with a cigarette and bloodymary. Originally they wanted the OG of Samurai films for this part. Toshiro Mifune. It was have been a far more serious feeling film with Mifune. It would be less heart strings and more Rocky if you will.
Morita was nominated for an Oscar for this performance. I think he should have won.
The actor who played Daniel is Ralph Macchio. He is in a few other movies you should watch. "The Outsiders" & "My Cousin Vinny" both are great movies.
He's also in Crossroads, which is a guitar movie about an old guitarist who was rumoured to have made a deal with the devil in return for guitar skills. Very enjoyable. Very eighties.
My Cousin Vinny is a freaking awesome show. I watch it three or four times a year.
He is also in the other two Karate Kid movies, 2 and 3.
@@kd5you1 And also a pretty good modern TV show, too.
2 is good, 3 she can miss
That’s definitely the first time someone called Newark “gorgeous”. 😂
The "Karate Kid" still holds a special place in my memories I was 13 years old when it premiered in theaters and still remains the only movie that I've ever watched on opening night to sold out audience, the line went around the block I can't even imagine the "Star Wars" premiere!
@@NATIVESUNSETS65 I've got to look into that, news to me?
The yellow 1947 Super DeLuxe convertible given to Daniel in this movie was given to Ralph Macchio (the actor who portrayed Daniel) as a gift. Macchio still owns the car 30+ years later
Yes, and it is the exact SAME car they show in Cobra Kai... Not just a look a like they brought in. Not sure if the other cars in the show are the same as in the movies, but Ralph brought her back to reprise her iconic role of Daniel's beloved car.
I Heard it wasn't running and Ralph brought it in, they fixed it up for him so he got a good deal :D
Seeing you react to the winning move was so sweet! Also, when Daniel and his mom push the car when they are in the desert, they are in my home town! (Sedona) On a sadder note, the story of Mr. Myagi's wife and child is even worse when you realize no doctor came because they were in the internment camps the U.S. put all Japanese-born Americans during WW2, and Myagi was a U.S. soldier fighting for America!
Which is why it makes me disgusted when people in the media and politicians idolize FDR.
Saddest post civil war moment in American history.
@@jacobmcglaughlin2165 I'm sure there are other contenders for that 'honor'.
@@jacobmcglaughlin2165 If you were born after 9/11, we can excuse the ignorance of that remark.
Not just Japanese-born Americans. Many, such as Pat Morita himself, were American-born but of Japanese descent, and were also forced to live in those camps.
The training scenes in the movie always remind me of an old story I heard about the Shaolin monks of China, who were renowned as being unmatched in their combat skills. A young man was permitted to join the order and learn from them, and so he left his family and joined the monks. When he came for his first day of training his master gave him a simple instruction, take the large pail you see in the corner down to the river fill it, bring the water back here then slap the water until it is empty, then go back to the river and do it again. He received this instruction every day for six months then he was permitted to go visit his family. Whilst there his family kept prodding him “what skills do you now have? what have they taught you?” And after an hour of the prodding he in frustration he stood up and slammed his palm on the table screaming “I HAVE LEARNED NOTHING!!!” But to the astonishment of the young man and his whole family as his hand came down the entire table shattered beneath his hand
Great to see you laughing and smiling at a movie for a change. Thank you for all your videos
Mr Miyagi lives on forever in our hearts. RIP Pat Morita
Love your reactions, Dasha. About the scene where Daniel learns that both Myagi's wife and child died in childbirth -- there is some real historical context that makes it even more poignant. After the Japanese navy bombed Pearl Harbor (the event that brought the U.S. into WWII), the U.S. government forced many ethnic Japanese living in the U.S. to leave their homes, forfeit their property and businesses, and relocate to detention camps for the duration of the war (a shameful and not always acknowledged piece of U.S. history). The shabby justification being that their loyalty would be to Japan rather than the U.S. While some of those detained were Japanese immigrants, many more were 1st or 2nd generation, and U.S. citizens by birth. Despite their forced relocation to the detention camps, many of these 1st and 2nd generation young Japanese-Americans chose to enlist and fight for the U.S. in the war. The 442nd Regimental Combat Team was created in 1943 as a mostly all Japanese-American unit that would be deployed to fight in Europe in 1944. The 442nd holds the distinction of being one of the most highly decorated units of the war -- over 4,000 Purple Hearts, 4,000 Bronze Stars, 560 Silver Stars, 7 Presidential Unit Citations, and most notably, 21 soldiers receiving the Medal of Honor (most posthumously having been killed in action) for their bravery and sacrifice in combat. Though it's not mentioned directly in the film, it's left to the viewer to make the connection that Myagi's wife and child died in one of the detention camps while Myagi was serving with the 442nd in the war. The medal Daniel finds is Myagi's Medal of Honor.
I have been to Manzanar National Historic Site in California. It is a very sobering experience. We fought to defeat the Japanese overseas, but in the process lost our basic principles of justice and equality at home.
Pat Morita himself lived in an internment camp when he was a kid. He remembers being shocked that they handcuffed him when they took him away, as he was just a small eight year old boy. He may have had broken wrists at the time, or something like that - I don't remember all the details. Mostly just that he lived in an internment camp during WW2.
That's hardly necessary or appropriate to bring that up in response to this video, as it was irrelevant to the movie or it's plot. No, "it's not mentioned directly in the film" (i.e. the internment camps) and it WASN'T "left to the viewer to make the connection" ... YOU made that connection !!! Had it been important ... to ANY degree in the movie, there would've at least been a small scene mentioning it. You yourself mentioned that many men enlisted and fought for the United States, so you have to admit, his wife could've died in childbirth while he was away, fighting in the war, just like ANY other woman might. There's no reason to insinuate any other reason for it than what was stated in the movie, as that's all that was important for that scene.
The fact of the matter is, the movie was about Daniel and Mr. Miyagi's relationship and spiritual growth together. However, you can think Franklin D. Roosevelt and the Democrats for that situation you brought up, even though, at the time, they thought they were doing the right thing. Remember, the nation was in a raw, unknown state and plenty Americans were looking for blood after Pearl Harbor, so the camps DID also as much to protect them from harm (or at least they were suppose to) as to protect us from any potential spies. It's easy to forget such things when pointing fingers.
I'm not bashing you, but I'm not sure if you realized how your dissertation would sound to the rest of us. I see your deflection has already gotten a couple people jumping on the bandwagon but, they should have been thinking about how this sweet person (i.e. Dasha) really just wanted to enjoy the movie.
@@StevesFunhouse Agreed. Not eyerthing needs to be a deconstruction of something, there's already enough nihilism out there.
@@formdusktilldeath Thank you 👍😊
The scene after Daniel finds out about Mr. Myagi's past and as he's leaving, he turns and bows to his sensei, his elder, and his friend... Damn someone's cutting onions EVERY TIME.
Daniel didn’t realize he was building muscle memory. Just like learning to drive a car, or type on a keyboard, when you repeat motions over and over and over again, you don’t have to think about them.
You do them instinctually. 😉
Not only that, he was building the muscles needed to do those moves powerfully. When this movie came out, members of my dojo went to see it in theaters and they all saw the twist coming a mile away. That said, karate has a lot of resistance training techniques used to build said muscles in a more conventional way known as "hojo undo", many of which use asymmetric weights not unlike kettlebells (which would become the "new hotness" in weight training in the early 2000s) or weights on the end of sticks not unlike Indian Clubs which were all the rage in the early 20th century.
If you're looking at Ali and thinking “She looks familiar”, that could be because the actress who played her is Elisabeth Shue, who would later play Jennifer Parker in _Back to the Future Part II_ and _Back to the Future Part III._ This was actually her first feature film role.
Mas Oyama, founder of the kyokushin style of karate, actually wrote a fairly detailed description of how he developed the ability to catch a fly with chopsticks. It's a great trick for impressing newbies, but it's main value is teaching self control, and perseverance.
The wax on, wax off "tedious chores actually being martial arts training" is a classic trope in Asian martial arts movies. The one I best remember was a movie in which the main characters go to the Shaolin temple hoping to learn kung fu to get revenge on their enemies, and one of them was put to work in the kitchen stirring multiple giant vats of noodle with a pole. Turned out that moving quickly from vat to vat to keep them from burning and making rapid stirring motions with the pole against the resistance of the huge loads of noodles was conditioning his body for fighting with the long staff.
Off the top of my head, is that 36 Chambers of Shaolin.
@@TheNativeEngine For the life of me, I can't remember the title, but there's a scene when one of the other guys got put to work stoking the fire for the kitchen, and when he starts throwing small pieces of wood into the fire, an old monk tells him "Don't Be lazy" then grabs a big piece of wood and rips it apart with his bare hands. When he sees that, the guy exclaims "TIger claw!" or "Tiger technique!" Does that sound familiar?
I’ve said it before, they need to make a prequel movie or series about Miyagi. I love to see his childhood in Okinawa, his early life in the US, his wife, fighting in WW2. It would be a great story if done right.
"Go For Broke" (1951): ruclips.net/video/qRqwLrZKDw0/видео.html
I've never thought of this before, but it's a pretty good idea.
Unnecessary to make a worthless prequel.
@@dan0507 Worthless? Learning about Miyagi would be far from worthless.
@@HumorousLOL just like having stories made between star wars episodes 3 and 4 are worthwhile? There is zero tension because you know the characters are going to be alive for episode 4. Prequels are a waste time. I don't care who the character is.
I was the actors' ages when I first watched these 3 movies. I am now the actors' ages watching Cobra Kai. I just met the cast...my DREAM since I was a kid in the 80's. What a great journey.
And I'm #teamjohnnylawrence by the way. :)
Ralph Macchio was 23. Not sure about the others, but Dawson Casting was definitely going on here.
Oh my goodness! After you watch the first three movies you HAVE to watch the series ‘Cobra Kai’! It’s basically the sequel set 30 years later and is in 4 seasons, it is absolutely one of the best ‘sequels to a movie ever!
I’ve watched all the Cobra Kai episodes for nostalgia purposes, (and the kids in the series have a very soap opera story which is fun to follow 🙂)......but I hate what they did with a particular character. They could have built on the character arch they had in the movie, but went in the opposite direction. That’s all I will say. If you know, you know.
Season 1 definitely, it's a classic
@@teddyj5187
I wasn’t referring to Tommy.
@@nowthatisawesome5431 I think Daniel should of got with the Japanese girl from the second film. Instead he winds up with some random woman.
@@saurelius5217 pretty true to life! Could say that about most of my married friends when I think back on their exes and then compare them to the random woman they ended up with!
It's takes 1000 times to master a task, miyagi's training style it built muscle memory and strength all in one. Basically trains for a year in a month
What a beautiful and heartfelt reaction, probably Karate Kid makes many of us feel nostalgic and brings back memories of our youth.
Yeah, I was a big fan of this franchise in childhood.
24:38 One of the bits of history that people started learning about again because of this movie was actually a twofer: that the U.S. put about 120,000 Japanese-Americans in what could only be called concentration camps during World War II, and that despite that, 33,000 of them signed up for the military, and one unit in particular, the 442nd Infantry Regiment, was (and is) the most decorated unit in U.S. military history. The medal Daniel found is the Congressional Medal of Honor, the highest military honor in the U.S.
You’re reaction to the winning kick is exactly what the whole theater did.
The whole theater jumped out on one leg, with th arms and the other leg raised.
Please do not forget to put 'The Karate Kid Part II' on your list. :) This reaction was a great watch. Thank you. :)
The actor playing Daniel (Ralph Macchio)was born in 1961 so when this film was released he was 23, not so much a kid but pretty baby faced probably helped to get him cast.
It's a phenomenon known as Dawson Casting, but it definitely predates Dawson's Creek... in the words of one Twitter user (I forget who), those high school boys in Grease look ready for prostate exams.
"I bet this movie is going to be about karate, and a kid" - perfect summary!🤣

Sorry to hear your situation. RIP.
If you like this one you'll probably love the second! The third isn't quite as good, but still worth seeing. And the "sequel" series Cobra Kai is quite good too.
yeah, the second one is also a good one
And if you're going to watch Cobra Kai, then you had probably better watch "The Next Karate Kid" as well, because HilarySwank / Julie Pierce could easily be written in. Only 2 days ago ET interviewed many members of the cast who all answered with the word "Miyagiverse" and phrases like "It's all about making it feel organic". They'd love to see her back, and every one of them smiled ear-to-ear while answering the question. It all felt like watching Tom Holland not talk about Spiderman No Way Home.
Fantastic reaction to a great 80's movie! I agree with those that say that you need to watch/react to the first 3 movies (there is a 4th, but the Daniel character isn't in it) and then even though you mainly do movie reactions, consider watching/reacting to the Cobra Kai series as they are a direct sequel to the movies but 30 years later... you'll love it! Thanks Dash!
Even though Daniel isn't in the 4th movie, Mr. Miyagi is, making it canon to the series. The cast of Cobra Kai all agree that Julie exists in their "Miyagiverse" (their words, not mine) and are all waiting for the writers to make a way for her to appear "organically" (again, their words). So, might as well add the 4th movie to the list if you're going to watch Cobra Kai.
Dasha does a lot of TV series reactions on her Patreon. Currently The Mandalorian, Breaking Bad and a couple of others I don't remember. Check her ad for Patreon midway through the video.
One thing I actually love is that Mr. Miyagi and Daniel aren't totally ripped. Nowadays every dude that takes his shirt off on film seems to be built like a tank. This feels so much more real because these are just average guys, like your next door neighbor.
Dasha, you comprehended so well the wisdom of Mr. Miyagi, I loved your commentary, new sub!
Love the way you put your heart into good movies like you can feel the good and bad in them all
Rest in Peace Mr. Morita.
I just noticed this. 20:16, if you look closely. you can see that when Mr. Miyagi wrote "1/2 left" he drew a right hand to represent the left, and where it said "1/2 right" he drew a left hand to represent the right. 😆
"Is he trying to catch fly bug- how do we call it.." haha "ohhh fly right"
One of my favorite movies ever! Same Director as Rocky & Pat Morita got an Academy Award nomination for Mr Miyagi... Karate Kid 2 & 3 are great as well & so is Cobra Kai...
Actually I could talk about these movies for like an hour 🙃
Definitely thought Next Karate Kid was better than the Karate Kid remake👍
@@rufus5966 true, but if you're gonna watch a Rocky-esque movie with Hillary Swank then Million Dollar Baby is the way to go.
Part 3 is not that good IMHO. They make it seem like Daniel has forgotten all about karate, the villains are more cartoonish, and it's more of a regression than a progression with the characters.
@@dan_hitchman007 there's definitely a step down in quality with each sequel. Part 1 is a classic. Part 2 is a must watch after you've seen the first one, plus Kumiko > Alli & it has Glory of Love in the soundtrack. Part 3 has problems, but if you enjoy the first 2 it's worth a watch.
Production gave Ralph Macchio (Daniel) the yellow car after filming was done as a gift. He still owns the car to this day.
I was in a martial arts class where we were sparring after hours. Everyone was friends. That's important for context. I was a Brown belt, sparring against a woman who was a black belt. it was just a light, controlled session with no pads, to help her practice for a tournament. The command to start was given and I threw a spinning back kick while she jumped in with a back fist. She was wide open and moving toward me and I kicked her too hard in the chest. We stopped to let her recover and the guy running the match growled and started rubbing his hands together the way Miyagi fixed Daniel's leg. It was one of those things where if you got it, you got it.
The movie studio gave Ralph Macchio that old yellow car after filming completed as a sort of bonus. He still owns it today.
Oh I hope you watch all the movies and put Cobra Kai in your showlist for Patreon
A black belt is like a high school diploma. it means that you have enough understanding of the basics to continue discovering things without an instructor. Most styles have 10 degrees of black belt above the plain one. A fourth-degree black belt is like a college degree in martial arts.
Mr. Miyagi was a second father figure for many of us growing up. I learned much from Miyagi and Yoda as a child.
Cobra Kai is a must see now.
"Always take your dates to playland and stuff"... Once you pass 30 or so, that's impractical... I mean, people call the police, there are questions... it's a real downer. ;o) Another great reaction, Dasha! I saw this movie as a teen in 1984. Still a GREAT movie!
I love that his enemy wanted to give him the trophy at the end.
This is a fun older movie. Thanks for reacting. I held the State title in Colorado for martial arts fighting from the age of 13 to 16. The tournaments actually are kind of like this but not quite as brutal, usually.
Ralph Macchio, the "kid", was actually 23 years old in this first movie :)
It so exciting to see you laugh so hard. The second one in this series is really good too. Can't wait for you to see that one.
Love your channel, Dasha. You put a smile on my face every day.
Pat "Mr.Miyagi" Morita almost didn't even get the chance to audition for the part. Because Pat was known as a comedian, the Producer was very adamant on not letting Pat audition because he didn't want a comedian, he wanted a more serious actor for the part. It's quite a incredible story on how he got the part. ruclips.net/video/MoBeHY1Rvs0/видео.html
The Producer wanted Toshiro Mifune (very famous in Japan for his samurai movies). Mr. Miyagi would have been utterly *terrifying* if Mifune portrayed him.
Raise your hand if you had this movie on vhs or dvd and kept rewinding and rewatching the crane over and over and over again and again. 🤚
The Karate Kid: A Classic! And the whole Trilogy, while not perfect or extraordinary, is certainly one of the top Trilogies of all time.... And after "I am your Father!", "Wax On. Wax Off" is probably the second most ever quoted line from an 80s movie. (... And not a single person named Daniel ever escaped being called "Daniel-San" for the following two decades!... Trust me: I Know!) 😂
15:57 - Yes, Mr. Miyagi is teaching Daniel technique through repetitive movements, as we see later on when he tests him, but also: He is building Daniel's strength and endurance! The guys Daniel will fight in the tournement have been doing karate and keeping in shape for a long time. So even if Daniel learns the technique to perfection, his strength is no match for theirs. As you said, this way, Mr. Miyagi is killing two birds with one stone.
3 birds. He taught him technique, got him physically conditioned AND the chores got done.
I love this movie with all my heart. And Rocky too. They're both magical.
3:49 "Who told you you could come inside?"

"Paint the house, no up down side to side 👏"
That "kid" was 22 yrs old when filming this movie, he just looked really young. All these years later he still looks very young for his age.
Miyagi was jealous as Daniel caught the fly 😂
I love The Karatie Kid movies, the 2nd one is really good aswell and yes even the 3rd one I enjoy, The Next Karatie Kid was not very good and don't like The Karatie Kid remake at all. If you enjoy these movies give Cobra Kai Series ago as it's part of these movies. ❤🥋
I was only 2 in 1984! That was a great year for movies too. The Terminator, Red Dawn, Ghostbusters, and several others.

Can you imagine just after this movie was released all the kids in school were imitating the crane and shouting "Daniel-san! Wax on, wax off!"
For some reason I thought this was "The Karate Kid II" until I saw the year. I almost got excited for a sec! xDD
You never disappoint, but this reaction was EXTRA beautiful! You have an amazing heart.
A detail in the movie is that Mr. Miyagi served with the 442nd Regimental Combat Team during WWII. The 442nd, comprised almost entirely of Nisei, 2nd-generation American citizens of Japanese descent, is the most-decorated unit for its size in US history, receiving over 4000 Purple Hearts (issued to soldiers wounded in combat) and 21 Congressional Medals of Honor, the highest decoration for bravery in the US military (20 of these were upgraded from Distinguished Service Cross, the Army's highest award, in 2000). Many of the men were recruited from the internment camps where Japanese Americans were forcibly sent under the racist idea they posed a threat to national security during the War. Pat Morita himself spent time in one of these camps as a child.
Mr. Miyagi is a wonderful but tragic character. He was written to represent the many Japanese-American soldiers that signed up to fight for the U.S. during WW2, despite incredible racism and horrific acts committed against them by our Government after Pearl Harbor, because they felt it was their duty. That medal that Daniel finds on the floor is the Congressional Medal of Honor - the highest award for gallantry that one can earn, and there were several of them awarded to those brave men who fought ferociously for a country that didn't love them. I hate seeing it portrayed in this movie, but I also love that they showed it. They deserve so much more recognition than they ever received, and as an American I strive to make sure that they have it no different than any other American veteran.
The 442nd Infantry got 21 Medals Of Honor, if I remember correctly. It was a mostly Japanese-American unit in WWII, and remains one of the all time most highly decorated military units.
@@jeremyfrost2636 The 442 Infantry Regiment is the most decorated unit in U.S. Military history when looked at in a "per capita" basis. The list of their awards, beyond the impressive number of CMH's is jaw dropping and inspiring.
Mr. Miyagi's medals include Purple Heart ( wounded in action) and the Congressional Meal of Honor, the highest award you can achieve (mostly awarded posthumously for valor).
24:00 It's one of the defining traits of a good hero. He knows pain and loss.
I loved your reaction from your awwws on the date to your very emotional reaction to mr miyagis past with his wife and unborn son. I really hope you watch 2&3 and the cobra kai series, that series will not disappoint you 👍
Watch the 4th movie as well if you plan to watch Cobra Kai, they're hoping to bring Julie back eventually.
7:24 "And it's much harder when you're a kid."
And when you're new.
I couldn't tell you how many times I watched this film as a kid.
I highly recommend watching the rest of the movies in the series, not because they are great (they are ok) but because you NEED TO WATCH the Cobra Kai series and watching all the Karate Kid movies makes it that much more enjoyable. Cobra Kai is amazing on every front, great writing, great story and it was made for kids like me who grew up in the 80's (meaning it aged like we did) yet it is still great for younger generations. Watch it, you will not be disappointed.
These movies were what got me interested in martial arts.
The Karate Kid references in How I Met Your Mother were hilarious!
32:50 when you realize Johnny may not be a complete bad person...just a misguided jerk...the fear in Johnny's eyes, you can feel it..he never wanted to permanently hurt Daniel, even if he did pick on him. But the pressure got to him...
Great Recation Dasha!
Fun fact: The song playing when the tournament starts (You're the best) was originally made for Rocky 3 but Sylvester Stallone rejected it in favor for Eye of the Tiger, so they ended up using the song here.

I love this one, too. Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita, and Elisabeth Shue have been in many movies. You should check out “My Cousin Vinny” with Ralph Macchio although I think your next should be “Karate Kid II”. It takes place in Okinawa. My favorite! Love you always.

A bit about the teacher. if i remember right there was a scene where you learn he was a Vietnam vet. in the US there is a stereotype that vets of that war were ruthless and cruel in their fighting and actions especially when on duty. the reason the teacher is so ruthless in teaching the students

There is an absolute classic movie calle The Outsiders which has Ralph Maccio (Daniel), Matt Dillon, Emilio Estevez, Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe and Tom Cruise (called the 80s Brat Pack) all in their first roles.

Elisabeth shue played as jennifer in Back To The Future II & III replacing claudia wells...maybe this was her first movie she ever played..but i don't know maybe i'm wrong..
That's old school, You had to pop the clutch on a 5 speed. There's a bunch of kids in America that don't know how to drive a manual. 🤣
Having the name Daniel and being born in the mid 80s means I've been called Danielsan my whole damn life.
You made the comment that Daniel isn't old enough to drink.... FUN FACT: Ralph Macchio (Daniel) was actually 22 years old while filming Karate Kid... So the actor was actually old enough to drink LOL.. Yes..22 and played a 17yo but looked 16 maybe! Crazy huh... Ralph Macchio still looks young for his age!!
That yellow car he chose in the movie he actually has that car to this day
What makes it so funny on HIMYM is that Barney thinks that William Zabka (Johnny) is the hero of the movie. He even makes a guest star at Barney's bachelor party and wedding
Mister Miyagi longed for the family he lost. Daniel longed for a strong, father figure. That's just 1 reason this movie holds up after 38 years
My favorite movie as a kid....reviewed by my favorite Russian girl.
Watching that bonsai scene, I've tried to raise those Juniper style trees, but they always die. I tried to do the same with Australian willow, but once it started growing I never wanted to trim anything because it was growing so well.
First time seeing your channel Dasha! Well done video and Great reaction 👍 This was one of the BEST and most inspirational movies of all time, not just for the action, and great story of the underdog overcoming challenges to claim victory; but as you noted, there was a deep bonding, necessary relationship developing between the characters, as well as lots of valuable real life lessons to be learned. You were very wise and intuitive to understand the deeper meaning of things right away, and you were in sync with the many emotions well portrayed in this movie. Thank you for sharing your perspectives on this movie Dasha, and we look forward to you sharing more of your favorite movies and insights.
On a side note Dasha, you mentioned wanting to learn cheerleading but not having lessons or schools available. Even if you want to learn karate or martial arts Dasha... One valuable lesson of this film is that ANYTHING is possible as long as you are willing to commit to doing the work; and repetition, and mastering the basics, as well as finding good mentors, are keys to success.
I Pray that you do learn cheerleading, martial arts, and whatever else you desire in your life, Dasha. Always begin with your victory clearly in your mind - the belief that you can do anything, that you can Win, despite any challenges, Dasha! Go and make your dreams come true! I shall look forward to cheering for your Successes! All the Best! 😃✌
I highly recommend watching her back catalog of reaction videos. She's one of the best. The intellectual and emotional insight was there from the beginning.
I also second your recommendation that she go ahead and try to learn cheerleading, martial arts and whatever else she wants. It is possible to pick the basics up via RUclips videos.
Dasha, you are the most wonderful, the sweetest person. I just love your reactions, and watch for your new ones everyday. Thank you for them.
So glad you enjoyed the movie! I watched this countless times growing up. It's fun seeing other people appreciate it.
Great Reaction 🎉
Chōjun Miyagi (宮城 長順, Miyagi Chōjun, April 25, 1888 - October 8, 1953) was an Okinawan martial artist who founded the Gōjū-ryū school of karate by blending Okinawan and Chinese influences.
