This movie, Dasha, has a very special place in my heart because when I was 2 and a half years old, I was diagnosed with autism and I hardly spoke, but when I stumbled across this movie on video, I started to speak again by quoting the movie. I also talked with my butt in preschool. Ever since this movie, Jim Carrey became one of my personsal heroes. Thank you, Dasha, from the bottom of my heart for reacting to this movie. Thank you so much.

This has given me a reason to smile today. I'm so glad you've done well. This film really helped me with my insecurities though it then resulted in me becoming a rather crazy extrovert for a few years.

I love this movie, everything still holds up today.
Seeing this movie in the theater was the first time I ever experienced a standing ovation.
Dasha reacting to comedies are my favorites.
I've had this movie on VHS since it came out and on DVD when I wore out the tape and this movie still cracks me up to this day. Also, the part where people crash into each other at metal concerts is called "moshing" and the area where they are doing it gets called a "mosh pit."
I just knew this is one you'd love.
This wasn't Jim Carrey's first movie, but it WAS the one (along with The Mask, which released later the same year) that put him on the map. There was a second one, though I didn't think it was as good. In this movie the zaniness is centered entirely around Ace, with most of the rest being played fairly straight. The second movie expanded it pretty much across the board.
The "Einhorn is a man" bit is a reference to a film from a few years earlier. I won't say WHAT movie, because it's a MASSIVE spoiler, suffice to say it was legendary. They even used the same song during Ace's freakout. However, while the previous film played the reveal for shock, it actually ended up being surprisingly sympathetic for when it was made.
7:00 Mosh pit. Seen them at a rock concert years back and they do get crazy. Also if you wear glasses, you're doom.
The only people that get the Captain Stubing reference are people that used to watch The Love Boat tv series from the 70's - 80's. The door and at the event in the movie was wearing an outfit very similar to the Captain's Uniform in the tv series. Gopher and Doc were also characters from the tv show.

I have never laughed so hard at a movie. This is one of my all time favorites. That thing they're doing at the concert is called moshing by the way. I was so happy to see you react to this! Can't wait to see what you watch next!
The band is Cannibal Corpse. They're the most successful death metal band in history and Jim demanded they be allowed in the movie. They're originally from Buffalo NY but they moved to Tampa because the scene was better. I lived in the same area as their second vocalist for over 7 years. Used to run into him at Walmart with his family all the time. His name's George Fischer and he's actually a great dude.
@@jackcoleman1784 I was pleasantly surprised when I found out Jim was a fan of death metal/grind core. While I did listen to CC when I was younger I tended to enjoy more structured music of the genre. Stuff like Cattle Decapitation.
@@ugib8377 Cattle Decap is some sick deathgrind my dude. I saw them a few times in Tampa and they always brought it especially Travis Ryan. I was personally always a huge fan of Napalm Death. Their stuff can almost be avant garde at times. I actually got to meet quite a few of the guys in the Tampa death metal scene over the years. Got to hang out with the guys from Obituary, Cannibal Corpse, Decide etc. Even ran into David Vincent from Morbid Angel in a local shop called The Todd. He was out of his mind and dressed like a cowboy but hey it was him.
Great reaction, and on the same day that Cannibal Corpse’s new album dropped! 👍

@@jackcoleman1784 Oh yeah! I’m a Philly native, but the Florida death metal scene always had the edge over the New York one. 🤘🏻
@@hellsunicorn That's why Cannibal Corpse relocated. Don't get me wrong New York has some sick stuff too like Suffocation and Dying Fetus but you just can't beat Florida's scene in my opinion.

There are Europeans that have seen this and thought the Miami Dolphins were a made up team for the movie.
The director or Ace Ventura 2 also made Kung Pow Enter the Fist, which is a film that needs to be checked out
7:54 - "Hi Captain Stubing. How are Gopher and Doc?" - That's a reference to the TV show The Love Boat, which was a comedy/drama series set about a cruise ship. The captain was a balding man who wore a white uniform.
13:15 - "Oh he is really a hated person right, if it says choke?" - In English, the word "choke" is also slang for someone getting so nervous that they screw something up. As in "It was a simple shot, but at the last moment, he choked and missed it." So, the graffiti is saying that Ray Finkel "choked" when he went to kick the ball.
Part two {when nature calls} is even better.
Even though Ray Finkle blamed Dan Marino for holding the ball wrong (laces in), over the years, I've decided that Dan actually did hold the ball the right way (laces out). There would've been hundreds of people watching at the game and millions more watching it on TV, so if Ray had held it wrong, plenty of people would've noticed.
I think the pressure just got to Finkle (Remember the line "what would you know about pressure?") and he made a bad kick. He started telling everyone that Marino held the ball wrong as an excuse until he actually started to believe it.

19:00 why do you say that? Ace is a straight dude, that thought he was kissing a lady, who turned out to actually be a man, if anything, his response was tame. It's not like he was walking around yelling slurs and stuff lol, believe it or not, some people still today would act just like that if they were" Tricked" into making out with someone of the same sex under false pretenses ( which could technically be considered sexual assault, or even rape). If it was me, I'd punch them right in the face after I found out.
I hope Dasha reacts to "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" one day, one of my favorite comedians.

The Miami Dolphins used to keep a dolphin in a pool at the stadium (but not anymore). Actual Dolphins players and Coach Shula appear here, besides Dan Marino. American football fans would all have known Marino as well as Coach Shula. Being a Dolphins fan, I love this movie.

My friend was going through a difficult divorce and I suggested this movie and he thanked me for the the laughs when he needed it most.
The bad guy from the beginning of this movie has been in many other movies. Raising Arizona. Collision Course. Just to name two.

Greatest childhood movie ever I stumbled across this movie One Day looking through the movie channels when I was in Middle School love this freaking movie till the day I die Jim Carrey is phenomenal on this my jaw hurt the first time I watch this movie cuz I was laughing so hard you definitely should watch Ace Ventura Pet Detective 2 it is worth it the sequels even funnier❤
Great movie. The sequel is also great. You should also see The Majestic which is an underrated Jim Carrey drama movie

I think you just completed The Year of Jim Carrey. 1994 he had Dumb and Dumber, The Mask and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. Very few actors have multiple blockbusters in one year.

@@Provoses Jim Carrey kind of went off the deep end after he was with Jenny McCarthy and then started refusing to promote his own movies because they were violent. You know, after he acted in them and took the money.

I suppose if this movie and those jokes didn't age well then neither did the entire premise of Silence of the Lambs.
1 and 2 are hillarious! I liked 2 better but most will say 1. Probably because no one had ever seen comedy like this before! He only made 50j for this movie, and was already scripted for dumb and dumber. For 200k. He refused. This movie kept making money. They offered him 500k for Dumb...he refused. This kept making money! Finally jim got them up to several million, to do dumb and dumber!!
There is a sequel called Whan Nature Calls, which I think is even funnier.

Every time I watch the ending scene when Ace reveals to everyone who Einhorn really is, I always wonder why the hell Dan Marino isn't speaking up?? "Hey!! I don't know anything about her or him being a man or woman. But what I do know is whoever she is, she's responsible for kidnapping me!! Sort the rest of that crap out later and someone untie me!!!"
