FUN FACT: many of the more memorable scenes, such as the "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", "Monopoly Guy" and "Shadow Puppet Projector" were largely improvised, half the time because he either forgot his lines, forgot where they were in the script or just found the original script outright boring. On several occasions, Jim Carrey would tell the Director that he had thoughts about the script, but not warn coworkers about said improv just so he could see their genuine reactions.

My dad was an extra in this movie. He was at a chamber of commerce cocktail party, and a casting director came up and introduced herself, told him she liked his "look," and asked him if he owned a tuxedo. He lied and said, "yes." Rented the tux, drove to the plantation, and can be seen in two scenes: approaching the outdoor buffet table with a classy woman on his arm as he gestures towards it; and in the "monopoly guy" scene, up on the balcony (told to react with "disgust" during Jim's antics). They filmed a good portion of it in the "jungles" surrounding Charleston. He laughed when he informed us that the cost of gas, plus the tuxedo rental, cut his earnings back to "1950s pay in 1990s dollars;" but at least he got to be in a movie. And a damned handsome man he was; looked good on camera.

FUN FACT: Jim Carrey is such a big metal fan that he personally chose two separate heavy metal bands to fit into the movies (Cannibal Corpse from Underground club in the first movie, White Zombie for the Monster Truck scene) despite the fact that their music didn't really fit with the movies. He was so insistent that he basically added/altered the scene just so said songs could be used.

To me, Ace 2 is a more polished version of the first movie that extends the comedy of the first and I'm one of those people who liked it better (though I loved both, so it's not like that diminishes the greatness of Ace 1) but "which [x] is better?" is always just personal opinion. We all have different tastes -- e.g. some people love pineapple, some people like sushi, some people hate both -- and all of those are just personal opinions, none of which are objectively "wrong" despite how often the internet-at-large confuses "opinions" with "facts."
