The shark wasn't trying too eat him. It was playing with him. All animals love Ace.
I never thought of that. Thanks.
I'd never considered that idea but I love it. Going with that now.
Hat-tip to Jaws
_love_ lol
his Animal Handling is +20
8:57 The guy he is talking to is 80’s rapper Tone Loc. His unusual raspy voice made him very unique. If you guys haven’t heard his music I think you would love it. He had two major hits. Funky Cold Medina & Wild Thing.
Beat me to e! Haha that's what I was thinking
Such a cool voice
I was wondering if he'd know Tone Loc.
@@ericmcnair4083 Actually a little later Jay said “I think that’s Tone Loc” I was surprised!
Tone Loc also voiced Lou, the lizard in FernGully 😊
The line "This House is clean" is from the movie Poltergeist. That's a VERY suspenseful movie you need see.
And the music when he figures out Einhorn is Finkel is from the Crying Game.
There are references all through the movie
Clear*
That mental hospital scene is just the best.
Gets me every time.
Part two is definitely worth watching.
It's definitely better
@@idiot_city5244 Whoa. Not better but worth watching.
Yes when Nature Calls is hilarious
Bumblebee tuna
There's someone on the wing! Some... thing!
This, The Mask, and Dumb and Dumber made Jim Carey an absolute comedy legend
Yep, they all came out the same year… did you know that?
Mic - The Mask --- WOW
*Carrey
dont forget the grinch.
@@wonder777warrior6 the Grinch came out years later after he was already a star
That football play he runs in slow motion, then reverse, was comedy genius. Still the funniest thing I've seen in 52 years.
Tone Loc played his detective buddy in the film. "Funky cold Medina" and "Wild Thing" are absolute monster classic hits from Tone Loc.
You guys should definitely watch the sequel, “Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls”. It’s one of the few sequels out there that are arguably as good as the original. And that’s especially rare for comedies. Too often they just rehash the same jokes over and over again. Luckily Jim Carrey is much like Robin Williams, in that he’ll often ignore what’s given to him in the script and just adlib everything.
I'm so grateful to have grown up watching Jim Carey's career skyrocket. I was 11 when this came out, and a few months later The Mask hit theaters. It was the beginning of a very special phenomena. We'd never seen anyone do things like that with their face before. This movie catapulted him into stardom.
Yeah, I was 12. It was all we could quote in middle school. Everybody loved it. 😂❤
LOVE The Mask
The 90’s were towards the end of the golden era. Truly a great time to come of age.
3 hit movies in a year. Jim ruled 1994. King of funny. 👑
I remember him in the 80s in Earth Girls Are Easy, when he had that proto-Jim Carrey style, and then he was the star of Once Bitten, which I watched over and over on cable.
1994 was THE YEAR of Carrey. Fresh off In Living Color he had Ace Ventura, The Mask, and Dumb and Dumber. All huge hits
Dumb and Dumber is a must see. Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels are pure comedy gold in it. ❤
*Carrey
Great reaction guys! Don't delay too long on 'Dumb and Dumber' just because of the movie name, its very funny and most reactors coming in with that thought were pleasantly surprised with it. I think you two will also enjoy it, especially if you enjoyed Ace Ventura. If you haven't seen 'Liar, Liar', you have to get that one scheduled. Jim Carrey doesn't disappoint! P.S. because of your "affinity" to birds, you MUST watch Alfred Hitchcock's, "The Birds"!
I’d also suggest The Cable Guy with Jim Carrey. Very underrated comedy.
OMG, my mother absolutely hates birds because of the movie THE BIRDS. Jay will die. 😂
Dumb & Dumber is a cinematic masterpiece
@@goldilox369 Can you imagine his reaction?!? 😂
@@patrick1muldoon Seriously. He definitely wouldn't want one after that! not even if it talked. 😂😂😂
Dumb and Dumber is an absolute must !! If you like this kind of humor then you will love that movie 😎
But Dumb and Dumber is very different from Ace Ventura… that’s the thing that’s so amazing about Jim… he’s very versatile! There’s no other comedian who’s versatile like Jim Carrey… except Robin Williams
Dumb and Dumber is fairly similar to Tommy Boy. Only without the straight man (David Spade), instead another dumb guy. Doubling down on the dumb is never a bad thing 👍
I was in high school when this came out. Everyone's jokes came from this movie. It's so quotable.
Fantastic movie! My 74 year old father still carries an Ace Ventura card in his wallet. He got it when they rented the movie from Blockbuster back in the 90's!
You HAVE to do Dumb and Dumber. It’s one of the greatest comedies of all time. Don’t let the title scare you lol
This movie changed comedies for a while. We had never seen anything like it when it came out.
Yea exactly! I’m so sick and tired of people saying that Jim is just another “goofy comedian” that’s not true!!
There’s no one else like him, Robin Williams is the only other comedian who comes close
Part of it was the original script had Ace being a bumbling idiot who keeps getting lucky. Which just made it like a million previous detective comedies. Jim Carrey looked at the script and asked "What if Ace Ventura was a really competent detective as well as a weirdo?" and history was made.
_Ace Ventura_ , _Mask_ , and _Dumb and Dumber_ are all peak 90s nostalgia for me.
There is actually a really funny moment that happened to the Minnesota Vikings a few years back as they missed a field goal. Holder held the ball laces in and the commentator quotes this movie 😂
The Mask, Liar Liar (the outtakes are hilarious!) and The Truman Show are my fave Jim Carrey movies!
Liar Liar is my favorite Jim Carrey movie!
"Mama?"🤣
Liar Liar might be my favorite one too. It’s just SO good!
Truman show was fantastic. So glad he did that one.
The captain steubing line!! 😂😂😂😂 any love boat fans know.
@@BlackavarWD where is gopher and doc?? 🤣🤣🤣
Having grown up in Miami in the 90s, this movie is always a pleasure to watch.
Fun fact: Courtney Cox dancing at the end of the Bruce Springsteen "Dancing in the Dark" video was the inspiration for Alphonso Ribeiro's Carlton dance.
I laughed right along with you guys. This one is a classic indeed. The 2nd one is good too but "The Mask" and "Liar, Liar" are both really good too for Jim Carrey's "hamming it up" abilities. Great reaction.
Both of the movies are great and have different vibes surrounding Jim Carrey's humor. "The Mask" is definitely unhinged and cartoony whereas "Liar Liar" is ultimately a pretty sweet movie about family with an unexpected heart at the center of it. Both good choices for J&A!
Yes! "The Mask" and "Liar, Liar" are absolute musts! I think Jay and Amber would really love both of them.
I love Liar, Liar. If you watch it, make sure to watch the bloopers at the end.
When he was in the empty dolphin tank he was doing a Captain Kirk impression. When he made that little warble sound you liked, he was mimicking the sound of a Star Trek Communicator.
The brother is Tone Loc. Early rapper. Ace's laugh is from "The Mask". The line "This room is clean" is from the movie Poltergeist. If you ever want to get the blank scared out of you, watch it.
It's so hilarious to see the two of you imitating Ace Ventura, just like we did back in the day when the movie was so popular. Practically everybody walking around doing the same thing at each other. 😂
The sequel Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls is my favorite one of the two. I hope you guys watch it!
"This man likes to bend over and talk out of his rear end."
"Oh him."
My first movie I went to see the second time round in the theatre
AMBER had the Best Line:
“Oh a butt, not Arnold Schwarzenegger but I’ll take it.”
Great one Amber!!
Check out the movie “TWINS “ with Arnold and your favorite Danny De Vito , cute , funny and tender.
Jim was also great in "The Grinch". No one else could have pulled off that role. Another one that he pulled off was "The Mask". He becomes like a cartoon character in that movie and pulls it off. If you ever want to see him in his first role in a movie it was "Earth Girls are Easy". Definitely a B movie but it is a bit of a cult classic.
I'm pretty fond of Once Bitten.
Yes
Ace Ventura, Dumb & Dumber, & Liar Liar are his 3 best comedies in my opinion with Dumb & Dumber being the funniest movie of all time.
I liked this movie a lot. Even Ace's hairstyle was Iconic.
The laugh that "Ace" used in this movie was a laugh that he came up with for his character Fire Marshall Bill when he was on the show In Living Color. You definitely need to check out Fire Marshall Bill clips if you wanna see Jim "over the top crazy"!!!
He was pretty over the top as Veracosa on In Living Color too....miss that show.
His laugh is an evolution of Fire Marshal Bill from In Living Color, an SNL type skit comedy show. That show's parody of Vanilla Ice with Jim Carrey will have you in stitches!
After watching this so many times over the years, it's the little things that I find funny, like Courtney Cox struggling to not laugh when Carrey does the "let's see that in instant replay" bit. Or the rare cut with the scene where Carrey pretends to be the dolphin trainer.
Dumb and dumber is hilarious! I highly recommend it, you'll love it!! And, Amber, you're right, The Truman show is great! Jay needs to see it!
Also, The Cable Guy with Jim Carrey. Very underrated.
Agreed. Jay needs to see The Truman Show.
Dumb and dumber is hilarious and they should definitely give it a try!
Best karaoke ever in The Cable Guy 😂
Dumb and Dumber... PLEASE, no.
The actor that plays the character "Emilo" is Rapper/Hip Hop artist TONE LOC. He was very well-known in the 80's for his greatest hits "Wild Thing" & "Funky Cold Medina"
I saw Jim performing in a comedy club in 1989, just right before he got his gig on " In LIving Color' which you guys should check out, its a hilarious and ground breaking comedy tv show ,starring several Wayans brothers and one sister, David Alan Grier, and Tommy Davidson. Jim had several characters he performed on that show, I think the most popular and my favorite was Fire Marshal Bill. Jim has said in interviews after this Ace Ventura film came out that he was just expecting it to give him a little publicity for his big summer release that year called The Mask, he was surprised at how well it did at the box office. The second Ace is just as funny if not funnier because they had a much bigger budget , because by then Jim was a huge bankable star. The music that played when Ace realized he kissed another guy was from " The Crying Game" and sung by Boy George, its a very good, but sad and heavy film. YES!!! that was Tone Loc, after the movie ends you can hear Jim say " hit itTone" and Tone Loc comes in and plays " Ace is in the house" his biggest hits that I know of were WILD THING and FUNKY COLD MEDINA , both huge hits in the 80s early 90s.
Nice!!!
When Jay says, "I'm gonna start talking like Ace." Man, we were ALL talking like Ace when this came out!
So many catchy catch-phrases! "Allll-righty then!" "Re-he-he-heally?" "Luh-hoo-suh-ser!" That sideways Popeye-like chuckle. Carrey just hit the scene, and was loved and mimicked by middle-schoolers all over the country. To this day, people of my generation will use these phrases in everyday speech without even thinking about it.
This and The Mask catapulted him to stardom seemingly overnight. (Naturally, like most "overnight" successes, he had a long career before his star truly broke. But once it did: wow!!). And you're right: Jim played the live-action Grinch. If he thought the green prosthetic he wore in The Mask was something, he wasn't prepared for The Grinch's makeup ordeal!! But he so rocked it; nobody else could have done what he did with that role!
Such a classic! I used to do Ace Ventura impressions when I was 11/12 that were spot on 😆 can't wait to watch this with y'all!
Such a great movie... this actually spawned a cartoon series which shows how popular these movies were!!
My only Grandson is called 'Ace' and it's been 2 yrs of Ventura quotes. 🤣🤣🤣
I think my daughter is starting to regret the name choice. 😂
Highly recommend "The Number 23" Also "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and "The Majestic" all films that fly under peoples Radar all really good.
I love this movie! Another great detective comedy is Fletch starring Chevy Chase.
The best!
His old movies 🎬 are sooo funny! These 2 and The Mask are hilarious 😂 with so many quotes and 1 liners that still get used to this day!!
The sequel to this was right around the time he played the Riddler in Batman Forever. So it makes sense he would be after a bat in the next adventure. If you want a movie that will make you laugh just as hard as this- you have to watch the Naked Gun with Leslie Nielsen.
19:18 as a kid I figured he did that to help her out of her sorrow about losing a friend. He got her to smile again.
Yeah I watched this as a little kid. Love it.
I love how Jay is giggling at all the childish goofy comedy and Amber has that 'slightly impatient but willing to persevere' look... very much reminds me of my wife and I watching most of the comedy films I like!
I'm so glad you guys watched this ya'll!!❤❤ But everyone's right, as much as you enjoyed this, 'Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls', the sequel, is just as great, if not even greater.. I actually love the 2nd one more than the original. I sincerely hope you both check it out soon. You won't regret it..
hey everyone - was that Tone Loc at the cop shop? Sounded/looked like him....?
@@floyd2222it most definitely was.
I laughed so hard I fell out of my chair at the movie theater when he was being birthed from the rhinoceroses rear end
@@tjhunger8644 lol. I love, love, LOVE that part! And the part with the medallion when they are just trying to get him to leave & the old monk is like "Take mine" & Ace is like "this took you 80 years to achieve" & dude's like "Its ok. I don't like it anymore" 🤣🤣
yeah 2nd when hewas "practising" his mantra
I love part 2 even more. My husband knows every WORD to this one. I know every word to the second. Jim Carrey is a comedy genius. And, yes, he is the grinch.
The bathroom scene…..my ribs hurt from laughing…you know the director must have said- “improvise if you’d like”- and now we’re here.❤️🎥❤️great reaction
Fun fact: The band playing at around 10 minutes is legendary death metal band Cannibal Corpse, and actually one of Jim Carrey's favorite bands!
7:49 This scene consists of Star Trek references, including the sound of the communicator (8:05).
so funny your reaction to the shark .His laugh is Popeye's laugh. This house is clean is a saying off of the famous Poltergeist movie. Jim Carey Played the Grinch.
That's right! I forgot he mentioned that, from the Poltergeist movie!
*Carrey
You can’t say you love Jim Carrey without having seen Dumb&Dumber!! Lol. It’s a classic Carrey movie and hope you guys react to it someday. Love your reactions keep ‘em up!!!!
Hold up are we going to ignore our girl straight dozing off at the 11:30 mark??? 😂😂😂
Jordan should watch “The Truman Show”. It’s a great movie and Jim Carrey is great in his dramatic roles. Or “Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind” since Amber has seen “The Truman Show”
Yes! Don’t forget Liar Liar and Me, Myself and Irene.
@@rach2883yes… Me, Myself and Irene is his most under appreciated movie! It’s a crime how much that movie flew under the radar
For dramatic roles, "The Majestic" was great also.
@@sandman_says_runrunner4701 Majestic was a flop unfortunately.
When people think of dramatic Jim Carrey it’s the Truman Show or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
@@nsasupporter7557 LOL Yeah, because box office determines quality of a movie. You have met the general movie audience, right?! "Captain Marvel" made over 1B and that movie was shyte. One does not always equate the other.
"The Truman Show" is good but it was Carrey dipping his toe into dramatic acting, as he was still very Jim. He only had a bit role in "Simon Birch" and "Man on the Moon" was dramatic/manic/comedic. "The Majestic" was his first real foray into drama and he pulled it off magnificently. I would imagine it was this (full drama) and the run time that had the most to do with the poor box office.
I guess I am not people then, because when I think of drama and Jim I think of "The Majestic".
When Jim Carey says "I have exorcised the demon, this house is clear" he is referencing the movie Poltergeist which is one you should check out if you haven't.
*Carrey
Jim Carey did this movie during the break between seasons of “In Living Color.” Supposedly, when he talked to the Wayans about skits for the next season they told him he should go do more movies. And to demand way more money.
This movie still has me cracking up! One of the best comedies ever.
That word is old slang for a detective.
Y’all should follow up with the second Ace Ventura soon. Even more classic one liners. He did like two movies a year three years in a row.
A lot of people started talking like Ace when originally released. There’s so many catch phrases he created in this movie. I knew this film was going to be funny when l saw Jim is starring. At that time l used to stay up after 1am on school nights to watch In Living Colour. It was on late because l was in Australia.
❤ Part 2 is HILARIOUS too! Also Liar Liar and Bruce Almighty are other hilarious movies!! Jim Carrey did play in The Grinch.
As a Miami native and life-long Dolphins fan this movie will always have a special place in my collection. You should check out Jim Carey’s early work on “In Living Color”!
Yes, you _DO_ need to watch the sequel, Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls. It's one of those sequels that just gets better and better.
I love that Cannibal Corpse make's a cameo in this.
Hammer Smashed Face is a highly danceable tune.
And it's not Screamo, It's OG Death Metal.
Which you guys need to do more of.
🤘
Fun fact: They're one of Jim's favorite bands
Dude said he doesn't like metal.
@@rafetizer And I don’t like rap. Music is like race. It goes together with mostly the race that makes it. Rap is for blacks. Metal is for whites. Just makes more sense to the brains of each party.
@@rafetizer, No, Jordan does like a lot of Metal. He and Amber have reacted to quite a few Metal songs on their music reaction channel.
B1 family. Glad to be sitting in with you two. Blessings.
I'm excited for this! I hope y'all follow up with (Ace Ventura when nature calls). 🍿🥤😁
"This house is clean" is from the movie "Poltergeist."
I believe you two reviewed that one a few months back.
Ventura's tutu and combat boots look is so iconic... Sooo many Halloween costumes
Dumb and Dumber and Me,Myself & Irene are definitely worth checking out if you like this one🍿
Yes… Me, Myself and Irene was his most under appreciated movie. It’s a crime how much that movie flew under the radar
Part 2 is funny af, also, The Truman Show…it’s easily the best movie of his career and aged perfectly
Dramatic show maybe... though I would argue "The Majestic" is up there in that genre also. Still, they do not come close to his comedy movies.
I would add just for clarification that The Truman Show isn't a comedy.
Yup... at that point, all I knew of Jim Carry was he was in "In Livin Color", and when this movie came out (His first starring role on a big budget film) I wanted it to see it because
I knew he was funny... and it did not disappoint. :) I was 11 when it came out. lol Great reaction. :)
I saw this in theaters and it was like seeing the birth of a new comedy god. The trailers alone made this irresistible and the actual theater-going experience delivered even more than I could ever dream. I was an untreated autistic kid so for several years Ace Ventura was my patron saint.
Ace Ventura 2: When Nature Calls is my favorite out of the two. Equally hilarious, if not more. Dumb and Dumber, Liar Liar, The Mask, The Cable Guy, Fun with Dick and Jane, The Truman Show, Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind- some Jim Carrey essentials
Was never a huge fan of this film, but to watch this and know he went from this kind of fearless physical comic to things like Truman show and Spotless mind is just amazing.....
Spotless Mind is a masterpiece
@@muffitsg very much so as was most of the Truman show to me as well
That phrase "I have excersised the demon, this house is clean" comes from another movie you saw poltergeist. It was said by that psych woman with the glasses.
I’m surprised Jay didn’t catch that the Super Bowl was being played during the day. It’s been a long time since that happened. I remember in college watching the 49ers vs the Bengals back in the eighties. Only 6 of us watching the game at the frat house because everyone else was sleeping off the night before’s party.
This is probably my second most watched movie of all time after The Lord of the Rings trilogy. It's simply perfect comedy imo. I prefer the first movie of the two Ace Ventura movies, but a lot of people prefer or remember the second better, since everything is turned up to 11 compared to this one.
Agreed. Pet Detective was obviously in the back of Jim's mind for a while, allowing more to happen than just a string of comic bits. We see it a lot with music - trying to quickly follow up a hit album, rarely does the next have the same magic.
This is 1 of my favorite comedy movies of all time! I've seen it hundreds of times 😅
Oh my goodness! I LOVED this movie! Some of the pop culture references you didn't get because it was released in the 90s. But it's still so funny almost 30 years later! To this day, I still use the line, "aaaaalrighty then!!" 😂
"your gun is digging into my hip" 🏆
You will love Dumb and Dumber. It's a classic. So many quotable lines!

When this came out EVERYONE was quoting Ace and doing the voices. This is one of those generational movies that ADDED to the slang and even to the dictionary with the words and phrases.
I loved your reaction to this movie! But my 2 favorite comedies with Jim Carey are " Ace Ventura, When Nature Calls" and "Liar, Liar". I hope you watch them both sometime - I think you will love them!

Not a huge fan of the fisrt one BUT Part 2 When Nature Calls is amazing!!
Ive seen it at least 50 times. 😂😂😂
"I'm gonna show the kids the real grinch"
That sounded like a threat! Keep to the fictional one!
6:15
"I want a bird so bad, but I'm scared of birds"
The second movie is one of my favourites of all time. If you havent seen it yet, I highly recommend The Mask. Definitely his most career defining role
No, it was this movie… the Mask came second and then Dumb & Dumber. All 3 came out the same year
Glad yall enjoyed!! Definitely please watch the second one!! Its my personal favorite, its a great sequel :)
BTW, That was a real Death Metal band in the club he went to... the group is called Cannibal Corpse. I don't know that you would like their music... once during an interview they said that their songs are "Short stories that could be turned into a horror movie".
1994 was the year of Jim Carrey
With the release of ace Ventura ,the mask and dumb and dumber
All great Jim Carrey movies
Love this movie. You guys should watch The Truman Show. It's a great movie that shows Jim Carrey's talent another great movie is the Grinch
This was the #1 movie my senior year in high school. All the boys talked like Ace. It got annoying after awhile, but it truly is an iconic comedy movie. More Jim Carrey ya'll must see - Me, Myself & Irene (by far my favorite of his), Liar Liar and definitely watch Dumb & Dumber. If you laughed at this, you will certainly laugh at that.
You have to watch "Dumb and Dumber" as well as "Liar Liar". They are both classic Carey.
Y’all are too young to realize that Tone Loc was the black officer! His voice is still so distinctive
Oh, I just watched this the other night after not seeing it since about 1999. I had forgotten how funny it is. You didn't mention Liar, Liar as a Jim Carrey movie you've seen. Definitely worth checking out, if it wasn't simply an oversight.
Just a note: the man Ace stole the dog from, who destroyed his car, is played by Randall "Tex" Cobb. He also appears in another film that's been commonly suggested here: Raising Arizona.
Glad you both enjoyed it the second one is very much worth watching. I love watching Amber's second hand embarrassment lol Glad I'm not the only one that suffers from that from time to time😂
The Mask and even when he started out as Fire Marshal Bill on In Living Color he has always excelled at being a caricature study.
The Ace Ventura films are some of my favorite movies, man; It takes me back to my childhood, lol.
