Alan is standing like that coming down the escalator because that’s exactly how rain man looked when he was coming down the escalator to come into the casino. If you guys haven’t seen Rain Man, you definitely need to see it.

I’ve never laughed so hard in my life at a theater as this flick. My face ached for two days. Absolutely brilliant movie.
That scene where Alan comes down the escalator at the casino, that’s from rain man..You should watch Rain Man. It was a huge movie when it came out, It was a Big film for Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman, it won multiple Oscar’s and was the film that really introduced autism to the masses. It’s a good film.
and I think the elevator one, when there was a guy going down on a woman, it's a call to Tom Hanks "Bachelor Party", another great movie
Definitely made me think Alan is autistic in the Hangover movies. I’m autistic and I can relate to so many behaviors that Alan has

I love how the guy who hopped out the trunk naked, his name is Ken Jeong. He's a legit honest to god board certified doctor IRL lol. The conversations with his patients after this movie came out must have been wild.
In case you didn't know the little Asian mobster is Ken Joeng and he's not only an actor but also a standup comedian, one of 3 judges on The Masked Singer, and a doctor.

Y'all better be watching the end pics through the credits! All 3 are good but 2 is a masterpiece! The wedding guy plays a different character in all 3! Chow was a pediatric doctor ob-gyn, before he got into comedy! The male cop was a full Colonel in the military, before he left, and started comedy!
Phil is also in "Wedding Crashers" in case u haven't seen that one. "40yr. Old Virgin is a good one, too. They both are the same genre...lol😂
Unless you know the game of blackjack, it's a little hard to explain how the casino was on to them. But basically, Alan was making drastic changes in his bets from hand to hand (betting small when the cards weren't in his favor and betting high when the cards were favorable). That's usually one red flag. Also, at 34:54 you see the dealer turn around to the pit boss and say "splitting 5s". In Blackjack, this goes against the normal way to play the game (the "unwritten rules"). You would never split 5s, unless you were counting cards or you just didn't know what you were doing. But at that point, Alan had accumulated so many chips, that the casino knew something was up. Counting cards isn't illegal, because you're not using any kind of external devices or anything that lets you see the next cards coming out. It's simply a lot of math to gain an advantage on the house. However, the casino can blacklist you and ban you from their property if they suspect you of counting cards. So then it BECOMES illegal if you try and come back as you're trespassing. Stu and his "wife" are simply there as a distraction to the whole thing, a common ploy in card counting operations.
They should watch "21" starring Kevin Spacey.
It's counting odds over an extended period of time. I think Blackjack dealers shuffle five or more decks together for the table. Keeping track of 250+ individual cards would be difficult, so it's simplified and is basically betting on odds. Can't remember for sure how it's done, but each card dealt is either a plus one or minus one with a few middling cards worth zero. Probably cards 6 or less are +1, 7 or 8 are zero, and 9-king -1. By following each card dealt to every player, you'll easily bet the odds based on the strength of the running positive or negative number in your head. Apparently it worked for the Harvard kids that famously used it to win at the casinos in the 80s, and works regardless of how many decks the dealer uses at the table, so long as you're willing to sit at the table for an extended amount of time. I'd guess that's how pitbosses get suspicious, unless they notice how interested you are in every card dealt to every player at the table without side bets etc.

That’s why Alan suggests that they work in teams, which is exactly what happened
They weren't *just* ploys, though. AFAIK the whole thing depends on seeing a large enough portion of cards in order to get better percentages on the remaining deck so they'd want a full table.

Great reaction! Alan's casino experience is a direct homage to Dustin Hoffman's character in "Rainman". Put it on the list because it is a "must watch" and you will not regret it.

In the early 2000s my friends and I from Ca and we would do what we called "Rock Star" Vegas trips. Take the hour long flight from John Wayne on Friday evening, come back on Sun. No bags, no hotel reservations. Find a spot or stay awake. RedBull/vodka and other substances for 2 days and nights. Sometimes you made a "friend" and could hang in her hotel room for a nap, sometimes you didn't. There were six of us total but it was rare that we ALL went every time, it was always a mix of who could go. We were making good money in the mortgage biz and could pull it off. I highly recommend it for anyone under 35 lol. After that we couldn't hang. Nothing as crazy as this movie ever happened, but plenty of crazy things did. Of course those cannot be discussed because... Vegas.
Now you've got to see Rainman - classic film with Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman. 😉👍💕

This is definitely a wild, over the top comedy. My suggestion on a couple of comedies are "10" and "What's Up Doc" - this one with Barbra Streisand!

You two HAVE to react to the movie "Yesterday!" After a freak bus accident during a mysterious global blackout, Jack (a struggling musician) wakes up to discover that The Beatles have never existed. Performing songs by the greatest band in history to a world that has never heard them, Jack becomes an overnight sensation with a little help from his agent.
The scene with them coming down the escalated is a direct reenactment of the scene from Rainman.

The Hangover and Tropic Thunder are in a class by themselves. For a similar type comedy, check out "There's Something About Mary". If you just want a great comedy, try Caddyshack or Young Frankenstein.

Another great movie with Bradley Cooper is “Silver Linings Playbook”. Also starring Jennifer Lawrence “Hunger Games”. Rom Com that also brings depression and OCD awareness and sports for Jay into the plot. It’s an amazing movie! Nominated for 8, won one academy award. Well worth the watch

In a deleted scene, after wedding ceremony Sid (Alan's dad) tells Doug, the car is a wedding gift right as Doug is trying to figure out how to tell what happened to it.
10:50 the guy in the elevator is the director of the Hangover trilogy Todd Phillips, he also has cameos in other films he made Road Trip, Old School, Due Date, and also directed Starsky & Hutch. A Star is Born staring Bradley Cooper aka Phil, and 2019 Joker & the sequel Joker: Folie a Deux with Lady Gaga from A Star is Born as Harley Quinn.
Part 2 had me crying in the theater. IMO that was the best one

Part 2 had me laughing so hard I was physically sore the next day. I also agree with alucard624, Part 3 was lacking.

Ken Jeong (the maniacal Asian gangster) stole the show for me. This movie had the entire movie theater howling and in tears. One of the funniest I've ever seen. A modern classic. Skip the 2 sequels, tho: they just don't live up to the first.

They know if you’re counting cards by how you bet. They track and analyze betting patterns in Real time. Basically if you think there are fewer face cards in the deck you bet less. If you think there are more face cards left in the deck, you bet more. Simplified. For the blackjack scene Alan was dressed like Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man with Tom Cruise
