Yes. I've been in several "IT Departments" at universities, schools, etc. They are ALWAYS in the basement, a converted closet (really!), or some other out of the way place that no one else wants to work in, and there were ALWAYS piles of equipment, parts, spools of wire, and usually a shelf with nerdy collectibles.

@@Unitedaerthe As to why we asked people to turn it off and on again, it’s because it worked! As people work with computers over time, it may use up resources, or some program you started a couple days ago might not shut down properly and may be messing things up, or any myriad of other problems could happen. Shutting down the computer then turning it on again resets all that and clears up most of the problems. It turns off unused programs, clears out and resets all the memory, closes any files the computer might be holding open on the hard drive, etc. I know of some people that never actually turned off their computer (they just closed their laptop and put it in “sleep” mode). I love the IT Crowd. If it helps, I think the first episode of Season 2 is one of the best episodes of all time. Its one where they go for a night out at the Theatre. This show is written by one of the creators of Father Ted, which is another much loved UK comedy that you might wish to check out.
THIS IS AWESOME!!! These three were also in a cool comedy movie together, Richard Curtis's The Boat That Rocked (2009). All-star Brit cast, worth a watch on yer own time if ya just wanna sit back with the hubby and have a goofy grin on and flake out to.
Oh wow, of all the things to react to, I never expected this! My worlds are colliding! I appreciate how much you enjoyed hearing "Jen" in a British accent and I think Moss was everyone's favourite in this show. :)

One bit of trivia, the bit when moss and Roy go to the stress seminar/talk and going through the gaps of the chairs and sitting and moss moving his chair and hitting Roy's fingers is tribute/homage to Laurel and Hardy's film sons of the desert where they did the same thing at the start of the film. Worth watching if you haven't seen it
Nice surprise :). The trouble with "Have you tried turning it off and on again ?" is that it _does_ actually fix problems surprisingly often so when you work in IT there really is no escaping it. (and yep, "the two-fingered salute", "the Vs", "the rods" etc. basically means "up yours", our version of the middle finger though the influence of the US being what it is, we use the middle finger too :)
"Have you tried turning it on and off again?" One of my favourite work coms, and my pals who've worked in IT have stated that it's pretty similar to their daily jobs, minus the wacky hijinks!
@@laurensb1b I think that's probably the next level down on the iceberg, heading away from your standard sitcom and more towards abstract alternative comedy like 'The Mighty Boosh' and 'The League of Gentlemen'.

Thank you, Jen! ITC has been one of my favorites for a long time and this was fun. Happy to see you've already done S2, will be heading there next =) In the US, mostly among older generations, they say "Aunt Flo is visiting," adding another layer to the joke. I'm ElderX and I use it with my best friend but always wonder if those younger than us know this expression. Apparently they also used to say "she fell off the roof," which seems unnecessarily dire! RE: Old School TV Production Values; Hey Jen! Fun Fact for you about the IT Crowd. FIlmed in front of a LIve Studio Audience. That's why it's so incredibly funny, the cast had to rehearse it for actual catharsis. Glad you're discovering this!
100% can confirm this. "The IT Crowd" was filmed at Pinewood Studios & I was in that audience many times. Most British sitcoms (Some US) usually try to keep the audience track from the studio in the edit but if an audience laughs through a characters next line it has to be shortened which gives "the canned laughter" effect. There is a large attempt at trying to keep the audience laughter in the record otherwise what's the point of filming in front of an audience really
The man who plays Daniel (Fifty Fifty) played another sitcom character called Cpt Nick in BBC sitcom "Bluestone 42" which was about a British Army bomb disposal detachment in Afghanistan. I actually think it was quite good & Capt Nick was my favourite character
Fantastically funny series and hilarious reaction! 💜 Yes please, to continuing IT Crowd. 52:28 Moss randomly mentions Sheena Easton. 😂😍 She's from Glasgow, Scotland and sang the fab Bond theme song 'For your eyes only'.
Noel Fielding as Richmond was so fantastic. Richmond's bloopers are great too. Noel was originally gonna be in more episodes, but, there was conflict with The Mighty Boosh, because it blew up at the time.
As someone who worked for years in IT support, this is practically a documentary. Also, I can still remember that entire godforsaken emergency service number from that jingle. Also also, 19:29 I love that "Jen's Peace Of Mind" is right next to (our) Jen's head 😂

As a retired IT manager I can honestly say that this series is more accurate than anyone would ever want to admit. Ohh the good ole days. Thank you for the reaction. I've always thought this was a great show, and suprised that so few react to it. Thank you!!
This show has the best episode ever at the start of season 2!❤
For anyone that doesn't know, if you like The I.T. Crowd, you could also check out The Mighty Boosh and Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. A lot of the same people cross over on all those shows.
100% recommend Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. The best absurdist comedy ever.
Haha, this is the best! So glad you enjoyed it so much... one of my favourites. Definitely keen to see some more, and confident you'll enjoy the other seasons similarly to this one. :)
The IT Crowd is one of my absolute favourite British absurdist comedy series. Very 'Father Ted' : )
My favourite episode is the one where Roy uses the disabled toilet... absolute comic genius! I'm giggling just thinking about it : ))))))))
BTW Jen, have you reacted to _"Derry Girls"_ ? The Irish accents might take a little getting used to, but it's funny AF.
One of my favorite shows of all time. Me and my friends bonded over this throughout high school as each season released. It's fantastic all the way to the end, you should watch the rest!
Yes happy you're watching this! Enjoy!
1:01:10 yes, please do! This was really entertaining 😁
Couple of other series you will enjoy: Garth Merenghi's Dark Place, and Black books. The first has Richard Ayoade in an amazing support role, and the other was also written by Graham Lineham, who co wrote with Dylan Moran.
I worked IT for a short time and those phone calls are really like that. Mostly simple fixes or plug it in! ( Duh) I really like this British comedy show I hope you watch season 2. Didn't have a Richmond but I didn't look in our supply closet. Haha lol 🤣 Oh and by the way my solution was to just kick it if on/off didn't work! Sure made me feel better! 😁 Haha lol Jen🐉❤💛 Thanks for bringing this show to my attention. It was awesome!
It was clearly a server room ( kept chilled ).
I'm so glad you watched this! I'd probably put this in my top five favorite comedy shows. I definitely think you should keep watching it and reacting to it!
I have never seen this before, hilarious. I was planning to head out and get some dinner, but you had me mesmerized. Back to my holiday :).
There are 4 seasons and they are all amazing! You can't stop now. They keep getting better and better.
I never thought I’d ever see Jen react to this show, but I’m so glad she did. Hopi g she reacts to Series 2 - there’s some blinding moments in that. Thanks Jen. Made my weekend!
It gets better and every season is amazing
I'm a network engineer. I manage all the computers that move the data packets between computers. Everyone LOVES to blame the network for any and all problems. 95% of my job was proving that the network wasn't the issue.
I wasn't a Richard Ayoade fan for the longest time, then finally got his comedy and have been blown away ever since!
Cradle of filth is a real British black metal band with a song called coffin fodder btw. ⚰️
Yes please Jen (said in an English accent) Its a brilliant show.
"A fire!? At Sea Parks!?"
Got a shiver watching this today - with Judy (ep 5) doing the famous Donald Sutherland meme just a couple of days after he died.
Never even heard of this show, but it's pretty hilarious. Richmond cracked me up. Hope you keep reacting to it. 👍💯
In my repeated viewings, I always get amazed by the set designs. Roy's tshirts are just top notch and the posters on the walls as well. Notice EVERYONE except Roy wears business formals but Roy always comes to office as a rebel
Except his rolf Harris t-shirt
Much better than The Big Bang Theory novel
It only gets better from here on out.
As someone who worked for years in IT support, this is practically a documentary.
Also, I can still remember that entire godforsaken emergency service number from that jingle.
Also also, 19:29 I love that "Jen's Peace Of Mind" is right next to (our) Jen's head 😂
You HAVE TO WATCH MORE OF THIS. It is one of my FAVORITE shows of all time. also: "A fire....at a Seaparks?"
I want a mug with Moss's mug on the bottom
You need to find when moss is on the big fat quiz…. Find he and Noel fielding are on it.. it’s so funny
