      Airfare to France is normally cheaper than say from New-York to California !
      It's all about the frequency and number of the flights to a destination.

    I think you guys should write a book documenting all your adventures in the states and in foreign countries especially how you financed it, travel tips and tricks, best places to go that you loved, and how you has managed everyone to make sure everyone was safe and having a good time. I think you guys definitely inspired everyone to live life to the fullest. Btw I love your RUclips channel!

    A really cool homescholling project would be if each one of the older kids picked an European language to learn the basics. The oldest kid (mom) could start with french since she is so enthusiastic about it and the other ones could start looking up expressions in Italian, Spanish, German etc so that there would always be someone who would be the "country language leader"

    Oh my, what wonderful history. You know, as I watch your channel, I am amazed at so many things. First of all, whoever selects the background music, thank you. The music always touches my heart, and I well up with tears. The music is always so poignant.
    I can see how this adventure is good for everyone: The kids are getting the education of a lifetime. The nanny is experiencing job skills on a trip to Europe. Dad and Mom are experiencing the opportunity to experience freedom and to share this experience with your audience, a person such as I who will never get any farther than the state next to me. So, I humbly thank you for my trip to France with a family that I have grown to love.
    I hope you soon find a place of worship, as I know this is very important to you, and another educational chance for the kids.
    I look forward to more of your journey. God bless you all.

    I'm particularly going to enjoy your vlogging whilst in France. It is where we used to holiday when the children were young. Visiting quaint little villages and seeing how they survived the wars.
    Don't forget to go early for your croissants on Sunday they only open for short time.

    Thanks to you guys I've realized that is imperative that we travel with our children. My parents never traveled anywhere when I was young but I definitely want my children to experience the world. It's always scared me but you make it seem so easy. Please do a video about the process of planning your trips. Any tips or must haves for traveling with young children. We'd only be going for a week or 2 at a time.

    If you guys would like to learn French (even just the basics), I would highly suggest Duolingo (app on Android and Apple).
    I am bilingual (English/French) and looked into it for a friend who wanted to learn French and found it very accurate and easy, she really enjoys it and is picking up conversational French quite well. I'm now using it to brush up on my Spanish. The older kids may enjoy it too if they're hoping to pick up a bit of French while you are in France.

    just be sure to always say hello and how are you in French , then ask them in French if they speak English. they may be more likely to speak English with you if they see you speak a little French first :)

    • @meganrichardson6471
      @meganrichardson6471 7 лет назад +1

      Yeah, I found that they love it if you try. I had a year of French before I went so I did pretty well in a basic way, but I found that they were always so pleased with me for trying and saying what I DID know how to say in French that they forgave me for the bits I didn't know :)

    • @astridju4538
      @astridju4538 7 лет назад +2

      True! The only problem I've had with telling people that I don't speak a particular language in said language ("sorry, I don't speak [language], do you speak English?") this occasionally (not in French, though, since I speak it enough to get around) is that people make the typical "oh, you just said that in [language], so you obviously speak it" and then continue to speak that language as if I understood.
      Like... no, i was serious when I said I don't speak it. I'm sure that's great conversation, but it's going 100% over my head. :D

      Seriously, you think there are older castles in England, this village in France is not the oldest ... and in the best conditions. There are many castles in France that are older and in better conditions. I remind you that England did not exist before the invasions of the French Normans!

    • @elladunham6518
      @elladunham6518 7 лет назад +1

      Sebastien LE GALLIC - while I concede the majority of the fancy stone castles in England are Norman, Of course England existed before the Norman invasions! It is logically contradictory to say it didn't exist!! All I meant was that they should come and experience the rich history England has to offer. I apologise for insinuating that it is better than France's historic castles, which of course it is not... just different! (Also I see now that I jumped to conclusions- obviously there must be Castles in better conditions elsewhere in France! :) )

    So exciting that you've all made it safely to France! You have a great and inspiring family, thanks for sharing your journey. We just got back from a roadtrip in France, and I have been looking forward to your impressions of the amazing country. Greetings from Denmark

    I think it'll surprise you. They do eat a lot of rain, but I bet anything you all drop weight. I'm not exactly sure what it is, but it seems to work out that way. France is beautiful. Thanks for sharing with us.

    It´s like i feel your excitement Megan! You feel like this is just the beginning and you are going to see an amazing combination of nature, culture and history... well you are! Although I´m from the Netherlands myself and I´ve already visited many places all over Europe I can´t wait till my husband and I get to travel Europe. Many young people from Europe want to go on vacations to countries in Asia and Africa nowadays but they don´t realise what´s around the corner. I´m so excited for you all! God bless!

    Ahhhhhh. I love it!! When we lived in Germany we refused to live on base and wanted to live in a little town. This vlog brings back memories! Very similar. I miss it so much ❤

      The German and Dutch supermarkets look amazing in youtube videos.

      JE New York German supermarkets are pretty cheap, compared to US supermarkets.

      I think the quality looks fantastic. In NYC, the chains seem to intentionally put out really bad baked goods so officially you have the cookies, cakes, brownies and bread but they are too sweet and have chemical aftertaste so I would be surprised if anyone actually buys them. That whole baked goods culture seems to be discouraged in NYC. We have successful Latino and Asian bakeries. I think the Asian ones are not that good when it comes to bread but they are successful. The Latino ones are less prevalent but may be doing some things right but they are only in usually working class Latino enclaves.

    Bread and pastries ARE France! Try a Millefeuille (a creamy pastry) means a thousand layers and they are delicious! Duolingo a free language app is great, I studied French at school for many years and use it to brush up on conversation before I go skiing over there from the UK x
