At the same time the firmware has reached the providers like Verizon or AT&T and they add/remove their own features/apps/customisations while usually forsaking the optimization, and then THEY release the update for Samsung . Ofc I'm not saying Samsung always optimizes their firmwares so well, but if you guys check out some other speed comparisons between the branded and unbranded versions of the same device, you'll see what I mean. It's not a good practice to speedtest a device which is definitely crippled by service providers....
The reason I guess is that there aren't a lot of custom ROMs for Exynos processors, so Samsung had to make at least some SnapDragon variants to get a lot of custom ROMs. They probably made all US variants to be SnapDragon-powered because the people in that country probably consists the most people who complained about that with the S6 family and Note 5

You make great videos, comparisons are always very informative and absolutely objective - the results are to be seen by everyone. I can only fathom the capability of the XZ premium since it'll be Sony's first phone with UFS 2.1, 4Gb LPDDR4x and the SD 835. I really do hope the XZP doesn't flop, because I think it'll be an immense upgrade from my Xperia Z2
90% of the apps in the Galaxy S8 are not stretching up to the whole screen it looks so awful.. I'm not sure how much time you'll need to wait for the developers to optimize it and I'm sure there will be so many apps by smaller developers which may never even optimize it at all.. consider that. Nice video and for me as Sony Fanboy I am very proud of Sony beating the Samsung Flagship. ;-) For my point of view Sony Phones are always underestimated in terms of performance and design. It is true the giant screen without big bezel look good but when I have two black stripes left and right of the screen while looking a movie then I will not see more then on the Sony display.
I must admit, I'm pleasantly surprised by the webpage loading. Maybe it has to do with the S8 running the higher res screen? I tested a Xperia XA1 vs a Nexus 6P and despite benchmarks indicating otherwise, the XA1 loaded pages faster every time. Sadly scrolling through pages looks smoother on the 6P due to the stronger GPU (this is only a visual effect, they both still scroll through pages equally as fast).
You can change the navigation buttons arrangement on the S8 and you dont need to swipe up the navigation buttons either to get to home screen, just hardpress the homebutton area, as it's pressure sensitive.

this kind of test depends too much on "launch animation". The phone start to load the app after the animation. Each ROM has its own animation. If you want to launch the app 0.2s faster, you can even delete this animation.
Shades of when the S8 went against the HTC 10...Games came up first on S8... Everything else aced on XZs...This S8 "Wonderphone" Samsung marketing is making the S8 and its "Samsung Experience" (SSX8) UI out to be, isn't much of a "Wonder", Methinks!
Samsung S8 still needs tweaks, for apps and system, just like many of the phones before it have had. Just like anything new, it will need some time to sort bugs and tweaks, once they are sorted most phones will load apps faster after day of launch

What ever, I just like the Xperia. And the system is the best in Android, I'm not only talk about the speed, I mean the user experience, It very close to the origin Android, but beautiful than it, and does not have any pre-installed junk apps, any detail of this phone is full of art!
Aside from camera shutter speed and game loading times, the XZs decimated the S8+...
I can only fathom the capability of the XZ premium since it'll be Sony's first phone with UFS 2.1, 4Gb LPDDR4x and the SD 835. I really do hope the XZP doesn't flop, because I think it'll be an immense upgrade from my Xperia Z2

90% of the apps in the Galaxy S8 are not stretching up to the whole screen it looks so awful..
I'm not sure how much time you'll need to wait for the developers to optimize it and I'm sure there will be so many apps by smaller developers which may never even optimize it at all.. consider that.

Even Sony, a visual content producer, only develops 16:9 contents, and only thing beyond that is 21:9

For my point of view Sony Phones are always underestimated in terms of performance and design.
It is true the giant screen without big bezel look good but when I have two black stripes left and right of the screen while looking a movie then I will not see more then on the Sony display.
I must admit, I'm pleasantly surprised by the webpage loading. Maybe it has to do with the S8 running the higher res screen? I tested a Xperia XA1 vs a Nexus 6P and despite benchmarks indicating otherwise, the XA1 loaded pages faster every time. Sadly scrolling through pages looks smoother on the 6P due to the stronger GPU (this is only a visual effect, they both still scroll through pages equally as fast).

You can change the navigation buttons arrangement on the S8 and you dont need to swipe up the navigation buttons either to get to home screen, just hardpress the homebutton area, as it's pressure sensitive.

i dumped my s7 and went back to Sony now have the xperia xz Im very impressed with the camera quality I am waiting for xzp good job sony will also add that I had the first xperia z and z2 plus

I don't know why the hell people keep buying Samsung over Sony!!! It's clear that Sony always build solid, genuine, fast products, maybe Sony should keep their eyes on advertising their smartphone products otherwise it will be a tragedy for a great phone with great performance,come on people give it a try, all I know is Sony won't let you down

had Samsung before, got really laggy after just a couple months, Sony z5 I had never had this issue, even HTC I had long ago didn't have that kind of issue

this kind of test depends too much on "launch animation". The phone start to load the app after the animation.
Each ROM has its own animation. If you want to launch the app 0.2s faster, you can even delete this animation.
Shades of when the S8 went against the HTC 10...Games came up first on S8... Everything else aced on XZs...This S8 "Wonderphone" Samsung marketing is making the S8 and its "Samsung Experience" (SSX8) UI out to be, isn't much of a "Wonder", Methinks!

Samsung S8 still needs tweaks, for apps and system, just like many of the phones before it have had. Just like anything new, it will need some time to sort bugs and tweaks, once they are sorted most phones will load apps faster after day of launch

the s8 is probably having trouble because they aren't really known for having best optimised android, but it's kinda their fault cuz their android skin is really heavily customised and that takes a lot of memory while Sony is having a good, low customised skin which is nice and simple and actually looks mostly like stock android and I love that
the only bad thing is that Sony doesn't allow the US version of their phones to use their finger print scanners and I think that's absolutely dumb, like y would they do that, do they not like Americans having extra security? 😑
sony just perfected the snap 820 over a year of making the xzs..while the samsung have less time to optimize there devices.

dedoyxp I think, the reason behind this is probably the fingerprint sensor on the side. It takes more space. XA don't have fingerprint sensor.

I prefer Galaxy display, but Sony is still great. Maybe the XZ Premium will be better though. Obviously my S8 has the pink hue issue though, so hopefully that is fixed
