- Samsung have been well known for their batteries, whether in a good or bad light. When it comes to our best smartphone batteries the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge absolutely smashed our leaderboard for flagship phones.
So how well does the older brother, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus compare? We had to test it and find out. In this particular video we compare how well the S8 does compared to all our previous phones taking on this test, whether they be Android or Apple.
1. All phones on full brightness
2. All phones connected to same Wi-Fi
3. 1 hr 30 mins for each task
4. S8 Plus is running at its out of the box 2220x1080 resolution
Hour 1:30 - 75% Hour 3:00 - 60% Hour 4:30 - 34% Hour 6:00 - 18%
Unfortunately we only had a day to test out the phone, leaving 11% left at 6 hours and 40 minutes.

You should have a battery test with the s8 and s8+ with all of apples when it gets released just to see which one is top.

Michael Booth I've upgraded from the s6 to the s8 and I would say that the s8+ is a bit better but not that much . It will get me through a day 5:50am-10:00pm. At the end of thr day I have like 10% left.

It's an interesting result. I've heard various different opinions on the S8's battery life from new users, but one observation seems clear: the battery life is better than expected, given the increase in display size without the increase in battery size. The new processor appears to bridge the gap, and maybe then some.
Regarding the iPhone 7 Plus, it appears well back on your rankings list, but based on what I hear from actual users, it has great battery life.

i didnt even know the battery was so good on the s8 plus. i just knew the phone itself was awesome. i just upgraded and was blown away that the phone just lasted, and lasted, ... and ... lasted

In all videos/reviews about the s8 plus they all say that batterylife on pixel xl ,7plus and s7 edge is much better than on s8plus but why in this test the battery is excelent ? That means in real world ussage is the better battery test ??

i'd really like to see a comparison (especially regarding the battery) between S8+ & A9pro (even tho it will be a drag probably to get a A9Pro)
i dont believe the s8 plus has a better battery than the huawei mate 9 you are the only person to say this most reviews say it has quite a poor battery life where as the huawei mate 9 has amazing battery life the fact it has a bigger battery too

I think you guys should fully complete your battery tests. Ending this test early makes comparing its results to fully completed tests unreliable.

Real racing was running at the same frame. The results would vary of the car keeps going on like on other phones. This was not the best test you ever did.
Do it with a retail version and don't cripple it with full hd resolution.

Ahmed Wael 1080p is irrelevant. Both phones as 1440p anyway.
Its not irrelevant as the default resolution is 1080p, the test in the video was done on 1080p resolution.

Lenovo p2 shouldn't be on the list that phones basic as can be massive battery standard display and a very old chip set
better biy a p2 for 200/300 then a s8 for 700/800
first you put the phone in 1080p and compares it with the s7 edge on qhd, then you put the s8plus on the wireless charger and there you have,,,, the allmighty flagship ,..... c'mon guys!

comparing a 5100 mAh smartphone with a 3500 mAh is ridiculous, plus I don't see the OnePlus 3T in your list which is a great smartphone regarding the battery! your comparison is late and unreasonable.
why? a mid class phones which costs around 300$ has better battery time than a 700-800$ one. why samsung doesnt put a similar battery in it. If lenovo could do it the allmighty samsung why cant?

Wolfeinstein +Haidar Qadiri If u pay attention, all of the phones except the Lenovo p2 has less than 4500mah, the s8 plus beats the mate 9 with a 4000mah and it has 3500, same screen resolution at the time, s8 has just .2 inch bigger screen and lasts longer, so what makes the Lenovo p2 last longer? well for 1 it isn't a flagship, it isn't using a flagship processor, it's using a snapdragon 625 compared to the more power hungry 820s, 8895s, 821 etc. The s8 plus outlasted the mate 9 because of being 10nm and much more effcient
and to add the Lenovo p2 is a 5.5 inch display, the s8 did well beating the s7 edge by having a bigger display and slightly smaller battery

Run the test at MAXIMUM RESOLUTION or else this "test" is freaking useless. Its pretty obvious you won't do it (now, on release when its very popular) because it would make the S8+'s battery look mediocre in comparison to other devices. Gotta earn those lovely Samsung big bucks somehow huh?
I mean this is like saying look my Ferrari gets good mileage because I only drive it like a Prius. Sometimes I drive my Ferrari hard because super car so I'm not being bias, honest!
Judge a product and make test based on it's maximum potential, not skewing the variables to suit your goals. If your not running it at QHD+, then why not reduce the battery capacity as well since you oh so conveniently test it at FHD instead?

Great phone for everyday use and great value for money. Fast, nice OLED panel, addictive one-button-for-everything solution, insane battery life. Unless you need a flagship-level camera, it's basically perfect.

I think that even the P2's sister: Moto Z Play with 3760 mAh sometimes is not even 40% worse than the P2, from what I've seen watching and reading battery tests; both are using Snapdragon 625. I own the P2 exactly 4 months (a little anniversary today :) ). That thing in real life can give me at least 10h SoT, up to 17-18h (2 days, Wi-Fi only, no camera or high brightness). That chipset is always really battery-friendly, also inside Xiaomi and Huawei phones. Obviously it cannot give a flagship performance, but I didn't have any issues and that phone never gets hot.

+A. Wolfeinstein it's not always about trend or showing off as the Lenovo p2 doesn't come with a flagship processor, the processor might be okay but for heavy user I'm pretty sure it will show why it is a mid range processor, s8 plus being the way bigger device ways less than the p2

Trust me iphone 7 plus has the best battery life in real time mainly because of its standbytime having lte opened the whole day I doesn't drain as much compare to touchwiz on my observation...
John Jaime Sy I've observed the opposite. The iPhone 7 can lose up to 15% during an 8 hour day of no usage while Galaxy devices hold their charge.
Robertas S. you've got a faulty phone then. My iPhone 7 will last 8 hours and only lose 3 sometimes 4 percent
For anyone wondering, the S8 is a scrap phone with a new shiny screen. What do I mean? The battery in S8 plus is from Note 7. The battery in S8 is probably a variation (improved of course) from a S7. The camera module is from S7/S7 edge so obviously it won't be that different performance wise. You can argue that the software is tweak so it's going to be better but software can only make up for hardware deficiency so much that it won't make a huge difference.
The S8/S8+ is looking like a scrap phone gobble up to reduce manufacturing time and cost to make up for the losses of the Note 7. The screen is AMAZING but what else? Bixby? Nobody cares it sucks. Samsung even prohibit customizing the button so now your stuck with it FOREVER whether you like it or not.
Face scanner is a fail because you can just take a picture of someone and bypass it. Iris scanner is a neat feature that I doubt anyone would use if they woke up from sleep and can barely open their eyelids, never mind trying to look at a BRIGHT SCREEN.
Samsung, where is the innovation? What am I paying extra that I can't get from an S7 or S7 edge? Are we going to eventually see Apple iphone pricing for a Samsung device? Seems like it's obvious since they keep increasing the price every single time they release a new product.
Lets go through your comment and see where you're wrong.
1) No the S8 + does not use the same battery as the Note 7 , pretty obvious, it would explode if it did dur .
2) No the S8 doesn't use the same module as the S7 / S7 edge , its actually a different sensor Sony IMX33 vs IMX260
3) won't be much difference performance wise , guess what , wrong again , it's using a snapdragon 835, much stronger GPU than the 820 ... its using UFS 2.1 which is a similar read speed to the iPhone which is very very fast.
Your post couldn't be filled with more misinformation if you tried, next time do your research before you start spouting absolute trash.. i'm sure you won't. but still i made myself feel better.
