Mrwhosetheboss himself said that the vivo X70 Pro+ takes the best night photos but still he compared the pixel 6 pro's night photo to the iPhone. Heck, he didn't even give a full review for the Pixel 6! What about the speed of the tensor chip??? Also these are some of the worst reviewers on the internet! They don't speak much about features other than the camera! Features like audio(mic and speaker) quality, grip comfortability, speed, connectivity, earpiece(specially for people like me who have bad ears😥), battery! If there is one video which mentions these features, its the "iPhone review" video or comparison videos only. You guys have to accept that these big "tech youtubers" are iSheep!
I'm a photographer and carry my equipment pretty much everywhere I go. That being said, some things are just better captured on a phone, the little fleeting moments: dinners with friends, messy nights out. I'd definitely buy a phone that can provide better quality for those random shots. Maybe not at this price point but overall I think most professionals would indeed buy it despite owning full on cameras
They should have just included one more software feature to turn on & off automatic processing for appealing social media posts like Insta stories, Snaps etc.
The fact that the majority of the footage was recorded on a mobile phone.. it's just... incredible. This might be the best video quality I've ever seen from a smartphone.
Even as a professional photographer that has my equipment all the time they're still moments where I don't have my camera on me, to be able to capture. There are plenty times where I'm not carrying my camera with me my being able to pull out a really good camera phone is absolutely awesome
I strongly agree, idea of that superb photo smartphone is amazing especially with that huge sensor as for a smartphone, Who needs iPhone camera software when they mostly shot RAW
Always had a special place for Sony in my heart, my first phone was Sony, I always liked the look & design on these phones. Same goes for HTC. Would like to see these two brands succeed in smartphone market
I actually think having separate apps for how you want to use the camera is good. If you have that many options in one app, some of them will be buried and no one will know it’s there.
Hope you reach your 10 million goal, you deserve it. I can honestly say there's no tech review platform out there that's more fun and informative to watch. Also, the editing of your video's is just perfect.
You’re right. He doesn’t just focus on the info of the tech, he’s also making it more entertaining than the average tech review platform making it close to impossible to get bored while watching his videos and also making you look forward to his next video. Another thing I like about his videos is how it’s like a movie. If you watch it carefully, it has something close to a plot and a climax in a 16 minute video. The guy is amazing
I used to think he came off as too arrogant or cocky, so I'd usually watch other channels but after watching his videos he earned that swagger, seems knowledgable about the products and unbiased so I'll continue to watch his content
I've given up on iPhone. Starting to lose hope on samsung. Starting to look at sony. The fact that this phone still has a sd card slot, and a great display is a win for me. I have the note 20 ultra. The last high end phone made by samsung with a micro sd slot. Thinking about getting this one.
I myself am keen to see Arun's review of this Sony phone once it is released. Like you I've had a gutfull of Samsung - waiting months for OS updates behind the rest of the world is pissing me off for the last time with my Note 10+ 5G - so yeh, I'm on the lookout for what my next phone will be.
@@BandsGiddy well all the other flagships cost the same as iPhones these days. What I mean it's pretty normal pricing and not as much as this Pro phone which is indeed aimed for pros.
@13:00 The reason they split the camera features into 3 different apps is the best feature of this phone! The RnD team at Sony is smart! They did this for a reason and I've had a Nokia 9 pureview for quite a while now so I know how sluggish a camera app can be on a mobile chipset. I'm just curious to see how Sony will handle the software updates on this model tho...
There are three demographics this accommodates. I personally will fill the Video Pro and Photography Pro but rarely touch the Cinema Pro . I'm happy not having useless UI in the way of what I need. Essentially when I'm using a function, I only want that function and no distractions. Having it all as one is bad. This phone is smart because it's designed with the philosophies of the professional camera industry i.e. purpose lead functions. In other words it's better to be a specialist in a few things than a generalist in everything. "Average consumers" (whatever that is) prefer generalists. Professionals prefer specialists.
Not really? Linking all 3 to a single interface will use the same processing power which ever section you choose to use! But this wasn't smart consumer thinking, This is professional hardware for those that used to tinkering lol They had no incentive to make it any more simple.
@@helenHTID that's how LG failed big time, they introduced manual mode but mixed it with the auto mode and everything because confusing, nobody like the software even tho it had good features, people chose that garbage iphone and pixel settings

For a "not a review" video, this is quite too detailed. Finally Sony is receiving the love it deserves. Arun gave an unbiased opinion, of course every phone has it's own flaws, even the iPhone or Samsung would have one despite being one of the great phones out there. Great Job 😊
I think it makes sense to build a pro camera phone because for a photographer the best camera is always the one thats nearby. Ive had so many situation where I just forgot my pro camera at home and just could my phone for taking shots
imo, having 3 camera apps is actually beneficial! it'll be easy to access whichever mode we want i.e videography and photography! or they wouldve made seperate ones because the settings are really complex and it would've been confusing if they're merged! Nice video, arun!
@@Ganesh-lm5dx then dont buy this model. just choose the Xperia mark III, though for me its still pretty much a pro smartphone but has a more trendy design if you really want to stick with Sony. So glad to see Sony take steps in the right direction. I own and love their TV and audio products, and have heard great things about their camera products. Makes sense to take all that expertise to make a great phone
@@Gigi-zr6hp it's obviously great in comparison to the switch and Xbox one, because those are last gen consoles (plus the switch is literally 720p 30fps). In comparison to the Xbox series X/S, it's a bit closer. Still though, the Sony is probably better.
I really love your videos. They are so well edited, produced, interesting and funny. I can watch a 40 minute video of you while with other youtubers I would stop bc i‘m too bored. Much appreciation of your work!
I think the reason Sony makes these kind of phones is to sell more of their mobile camera sensors/lenses to other manufacturers, without being directly in competition with its customers (e.g. Apple, Samsung etc) to show what is possible with their sensors - thus pushing the boundaries and pitting its customers to compete against each other.
Finally an intellectual being who understands SONY philosophy 😍. We are the customers of Apple/Samsung etc etc. Apple and Samsung are customers of SONY. So Sony will showcase their tech in a way to attract apple and samsung to buy their sensors while these companies will implement those sensors for the general customer
I really hope this line of phones is still active when I'm next looking for a phone. I would definitely benefit from this level of control on such a camera that is also a phone for the stuff that I get up to.

A phone with an SD slot, a jack and usability-over-design? If there was a version without the pro-features of the camera and display (1080p at 90hz for example) to make it a bit cheaper, I'd get it for sure.
Check out the Xperia 1, 5 and 10 series. To understand these series a bit easier, if it was an iPhone, 1 would have standed for Pro Max, 5 for Pro, and 10 for the regular one. Currently I'm using a Xperia 5 III and from my view it is just outstanding ;D
Of all Sony phones, high-quality sound in headphones and for bluetooth speakers. They already have a built-in program that automatically improves the sound quality, and even an equalizer is not needed. It is very comfortable, pleasantly lies on the hand. The cleanliness of the updated top-level report is a pleasure to surf the web. In short, a super duper company has never disappointed !!!👍👍👍👍👍👍
Well I think this camera-phone-whatever has two distinctive benefits: -It is easily pocketable while still having the ability to take some nice shots -Now you just have to carry one thing for calls and photo/video
As a Xperia 1 owner, even I'm surprised that Sony has managed to increase exposure and hype for each new Xperia release since. I never thought the enthusiast first mindset would work for them but I'm glad it is because it encourages them to keep going down that path
True, they are indeed making profits in their mobile division. I fell in love after the 5 II and would've bought it if they sold it in my country, but I'm very happy to see Sony not just survive, especially now that LG is no more, I hope they pickup their audio slack & I also dream of Sony could become the next Lumia in terms of pure imaging
@@sushimshah2896 🤣🤣🤣 Sony to be the next 'Lumia' in terms of pure imaging⁉️.... 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I bet u never print out the photos from your phones that you've ever had, like I have. The Nokia Lumia phones such as the 1020 and 1520, could never come close to printed photos from at least a compact digital camera. The imaging wasn't that great from any of those 2 phones, but I'll admit... they were the best quality in terms of what was shown on the phone display, when comparing the same shot to other phones. I know of such when photos were printed, especially from those standup kiosk stands...LG phones used to have better display screens than Samsung, because the colours were better in the pics been taken in the screens in comparison. But realising that when printed as such, Samsung had better photo quality in colours and contrast. Btw, I really like of how others give themselves a like, just to like their own comment. Well, Sony takes the word “Pro” too seriously, let’s be honest, the average consumer will not even know how to shot a picture and will end up downloading Gcam which doesn’t take full advantage of the capabilities of this phone, so I think Sony should create a fourth camera app with more automatic features
@@augustogalindo8687 I highly doubt this was ever made for average consumer . I dont know but maybe they have different strategy for marketing since Arun himself said Sony never really had an "identity"

People seem to think that their marketing division is so incompetent that they can't come up with simple conclusions that any random RUclips stan can. That's not the case. They understand very well that their devices don't appeal to the masses. And evidently their strat is finally starting to work. They have shown great improvement in sales numbers over the years. The fact of the matter is that, if Sony manages to fix a few of their sore issues with the 1 III namely, atrocious brightness, average battery life and low light imaging, they will quickly take up a large share of the market with what they already have. Right now, it's a phone that is full of compromises that the average person just doesn't want to make 😔

Do you think you can develop an amazing and consistent 3 12mp camera in ~6 months? No, Apple does not follow sony's camera system, it's just a coincidence
I have used this phone for 2 years now. The screen is so good, that I use it as my default viewer for my A1. The photos it takes are as good as my old Cannon EOS3. The 1-inch CMOS is superb. As for other functions, it blows away the completion. I have 1.5GB of carried storage. The Sony software for recording video and stills is unbeaten. I don’t think they’re underrated. My first “high tech” android was the Xperia Z. Had so many issues with it, but okay, that was 2012/13 so that’s normal for that time. The Xperia is less a “phone”, and more a camera. That said and as an owner of a wide array of Sony cameras, I think the Xperia would be an excellent accessory to them all. Because Sony is well entrenched in audio/visual capture and reproduction, the Xperia is a natural step forward for the Sony professional and prosumer ecosystem. …. we are rapidly approaching the time when full production studio gear will be contained in your pocket. If the Xperia is pointing to anything, it is that. And yes, ‘real’ cameras come only in black. 🤔
I expect it has the same radio bands and mic as the Xperia 1 III. X1 III connectivity and call quality is great. All the stock Android phone is there. It's definitely not any less of a phone. It's just more of everything else.
It's as good phone as the best phones on the market, you cannot make a "bad" phone if you have fast components, the only thing that can be "worse" is software, and everything works.
Kudos for the review, the best deserved review for this Sony phone. You really did a good research and every point are spot on. Much of the other reviews I watch only talk about comparison which obviously is not the company's target. What I loved most is the way you explained the portrait mode. If anyone knows real photography they it really twitches to hear AI merged portraits are excellent(honestly AI generated portrait are just pleasing).
I've seen quite a few photographers/videographers saying this phone is a great way to learn how to shoot... They've also been saying that this phone is one of the best they've used to date, however, it has to be used as a camera not as a phone with a camera (if that makes sense) to get the best out of it
Well, if they’re part of the Sony ambassador program then they’re going to say good things about the product because Sony chose them to represent their products to photographers and videographers. Then again, Sony did market one of their phones as a monitor for the A7SIII and it was well over $2000. Also, the average consumer is just gonna stick with Apple, Samsung, Google, and other manufacturers for their smartphone needs.
I've been watching Arun for years and I only now realize the incredibly high level of production from him and his team. I know all the past videos have been the same. But this is captivating, with the background music tying it all together. Amazing. Also, you should make a short film on your channel. Based on tech of course.
You had me at mini SD card..... Sony is making moves. I have been looking to drop SCAMsung and I may have found the S killer for me. Thank you for sharing this with me. 👍👍
I'm surprised you called changing the aperture a fringe scenario. Any long-distance scenery (like mountains or something) would massively benefit from a smaller aperture. That isn't 'fringe' at all. Almost all my pictures are far-off scenery, like skyscapes and nature. It'd be insulting to photographers if this feature wasn't available on the phone. Just because it can handle shallow DOF and mood lighting very well doesn't mean you should limit yourself to it. I would definitely not scoff at the feature though, that is a selling point IMO.
@@-_--le3zk yeah but will take atleast 3years as the 1ii haven't come down in price yet and that's a 2yr old Sony flagship. Unless you are ready to gamble your money away with eBay stocks. I personally prefer Amazon for safety and Sony is still 1000+ dollars. Funnily the 11pro max and 12 pro max have gone down in price where the Sony more or less retained its MSRP. It's shocking
I'm no camera nerd but as someone in the market for a smartphone offering a solid media consumption experience that includes a 3.5mm jack as well as an overall snappy experience and a good photo kit, Sony is making me happy. I have no intention of buying the Pro version, but it did put the X1 II on my radar. I'm glad that some brands are trying something new rather than just implementing shiny gimmicks.
I am still waiting for a video with a twist: "I've shot this whole video with this phone only and nobody even realized it". just sick to see how phone cameras has become so powerfull the last years.
Great phone! As a pro photographer of 20+ years, I can tell you that not every shot needs an incredible bokeh. So being able to stop down and go up is a nice feature, and not a fringe feature at all.
Sony taking awesome parts from their uber successful camera line is genius. That sensor and those mic’s are world class for a camera phone. I have a moto edge 5g and I love it. Verizon had a deal where I got it for $80. Originally priced at $800. It has an OLED screen and it's super crisp and bright. I can't see any pixels no matter how hard or close I look.
Coming back and watching this later on my Sony pro-I hits a little differently, because there's actually more features in this phone that hasn't been mentioned. If he thinks he is the target consumer, yes but also kind of no. The phone is built and geared for content creation, but has a bunch of tricks for people on the higher end of that market. We're working in a studio and planing videos using a blackmagic pocket 6k, and that itself is a 3000$ 6k video camera, the whole set up when it's set up looks rediculious, especially since sitting at top this beefy video camera is my Sony pro i. You can attach a hdmi to ubc c capture card to the phone and use it as a secondary monitor, and that's when the content mode for the display comes in beautifully, and set up right you can be Watching your shots on a similar screen as most of your audience once you take that creator mode off. And yeah I have a tonne of video and still photography gear, but the thing is having an option that allows me to have just as much control as my cannon rebel or black magic in a form factor and weight comparison with that of an iPhone is actually well worth the price in my opinion. I can spend some time setting up a shot on my phone and get a really good looking picture without worrying about 5000$ in camera equipment. And the 3.5 jack makes it double as an on the go field recorder, I keep a rode mini shotgun with me wherever I go, and stills or Broll from this phone can be woven with footage from my 6k beautifully. Sometimes a 40 pound camera setup is a little more than than what I want to take for our anniversary dinner. The comments I get from others who see my phone and how I use it sum it up nicely "that is a seriously beefy camera"
Sony has been making amazing phones for more than a decade and half. Still can't understand how phone this good can sell so little. Maybe advertising is more important than quality in today's market.
Build quality issues in the days of the Xperia Z Series, one desaterous phone (Z3+), not much Innovation back then and after the Z Series their naming scheme was just confusing. And the lack of marketing adds on top of that
Most of people and even reviewers just don't understand or they can't say anything positive for some reason. MKBHD and even Mr. Mobile just mocked Xperia 1 III and didn't give it any credit for what it is trying to acomplish. That and also the fact that marketing is so poor and also that devices get into the shelves of shopes like half a year after official reveal.
For a large part of my phone using life, I used only SONY mobiles, first Erricson and then Xperia. I like the fact that Sony mobiles look different and are just slightly more exciting to use compared to other phones.

I'm surprised you called changing the aperture a fringe scenario. Any long-distance scenery (like mountains or something) would massively benefit from a smaller aperture. That isn't 'fringe' at all. Unless you are ready to gamble your money away with eBay stocks. I personally prefer Amazon for safety and Sony is still 1000+ dollars. Funnily the 11pro max and 12 pro max have gone down in price where the Sony more or less retained its MSRP. It's shocking
I want it regardless.
Glad Sony are getting their devices out to RUclipsrs quickly this time! Great vid as always!

If you know manual settings in pics/vid you can get some absolutely amazing shots. And with 1tb expandable storage this is a perfect beginners all-in-one studio.. hell could even edit and export from the phone if need be.
I think the Lumias of old are still unmatched in terms of concert level audio pickup!
the mic isn't even that impressive tbh

Sony is quickly carving out a niche of making the only phones that camera professionals would actually use for work
Finally gone over to the dark side and reviewed a Sony Masterpiece.. 🔥
That's a seriously beefy comment. It might be just the testimony I need to make a decision on this camera phone.
And the lack of marketing adds on top of that
because of less fancy features maybe , cos everything is pretty much raw in this phone which most of em wont prefer
I'm one of Sony's customers and definitely, they need more advertising! Great phones and I love my 1 III!
I want everyone to go back and watch one of Arun's videos a year ago. It's crazy how much he improved.
