It would be really cool if in a couple of years all the top tech RUclipsrs collaborate and give out these smartphone awards. I think the awards would have more of an impact on the industry and make the awards less subjective
this would be such a cool idea

The Samsung Galaxy S23 was surely the most deserving of the award this year. Yet it was released at the start of 2023, but still got past the whole year with ease. In just 2 months, Samsung will release the S24 series, hope that it'll be just as good and better than the S23 series.
Should've gotten the compact price, the 5v is too big to be defined as a compact phone
This is why it should have stood alone. Samsung had the confidence to release their flagship first knowing they will dominate. And they did.

the s24 is worse, many people are saying they will not downgrade their zoom from 10x optical to 5x. sure the resolution is bumping up but it wont be able to physically zoom in as much, which is a huge deal breaker for anyone who bought the s23 due to its mega zoom lens stacks. samsung dropped the ball on the 24 for sure.

What u guys recommend for a max 400€? what is really good in camera, night and day equally (primarily for photos) and for gaming (like pubg mobile, call of duty etc.)
Wow, didn't expect the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra on this list. I've been loving mine. I paid around $650 (converted) and it's been the best for that price
We brought 2 of these (one for my mum and me) and yes I can say it is very snappy ⚡
Where are you from?
Honestly for me the base s23 which is my current daily is the perfect phone, it has a incredible camera, even my friend that owns a iphone 15 was impressed by the quantity. It's fast, it has 120hz screen, highly custumizable, 4 year os support, it's water resistant, it's incredibly durable, and it's just a very well balanced and performing phone for the price.
And the fact that Samsung only charges like what 90€ for the biggest storage one where apple will overprize you A LOT as always?
It´s insane 😅
Wrong, the difference between 256gb and 1 tb on Samsung is about €430. The difference between 256gb and 1 tb for iPhone is about ………… €430. (Plus there’s an option for 128gb)

Nice to see the love for Sony. I have had Sony since the Ericson merge and always enjoyed them. Currently use a Xperia 1 3. Alot of people over look Sony as they did fall behind with design at one point especially through their z range phones.

@kobalov1 I would agree. Which is better is such a redundant question by now. We are not in 2013 anymore. Both are fantastic and are so good that your personal preferences are the actual and only immediate deciding factor.
@@kobalov1I would not buying an iPhone anymore even I know their cons and that's would be my stupidity wasting my money since I'm not satisfying it if I want to try it. Excellent choices, just curios about these topics:
1) Fairphone 5 - Maybe a new category for next year: "Best sustainable and repairable phone of the year"
2) For best phone of the year maybe we can have a winner for each tear? Low - Medium and Flagship?
3) At the end of the presentation to talk about some phone statistics, similar like the ones we have for cars? For example:
What was the best seller phone of 2023?
Whats was the best seller iPhone and most popular iPhone color of 2023?
What was the best seller Samsung phone for 2023?
What was the most stolen phone of 2023?
4) Lastly, we should talk about the impact on the planet that all these phones have,
I mean do we really need a new iPhone every year? Maybe Apple should produce an iPhone every other year, that will be better for the planet and the consumer.
Thank you.
*1)... "Best sustainable [...} phone of the year"*
Can't really be sure of sustainability many years in advance. We can just guess. So, not a good category.
*1) ... "Best [...] repairable phone of the year"*
A very-very niche topic (i.e. vast majority of the consumers don't really care for it) so better covered in a separate video.
*2) For best phone of the year maybe we can have a winner for each tear? Low - Medium and Flagship?*

Low: 10:05
Medium: 11:16

Have you used Motorola a year back and currently.... Well if you had...you would have agreed with his point
Doubt that pixel 7 and 8 both still plagued by poor network and performance

@@sayeebanwar3494The Network improvement year over year for the Tensor 5G modems deserves their own award. This year the coverage improvement is mind blowing. The efficiency for 5G is still not what it should be, but I am still impressed!
I have owned the S23 Ultra since release and I have a hard time seeing how S24 Ultra will make me want to change. The camera is amazing, the speed is great (not a gamer), the battery is good (I charge once per day to 85%), and it's more than bright enough even in sunlight.
same, i've had the protect battery (85% battery) setting on for a very long time now. I sometimes go by 2 days if I use my phone less
The main things I see for the s24u is that they will get rid of the curved screen and most importantly get rid of the thicker chin bezel which I definitely appreciate. I'll probably keep my s23u for like 3 or 4 years though.
I read some rumor they make s24u concept more taller (same wide) so it will be 21:9 since 23u still 19:9 or 20:9 (as i read). Still curve, 8 gen 3 (all region), spen (of course)
Overall design just like 23u but little bit taller and bazel more thinner.
Remember, its just rumour
I have the s21 ultra and it's still hard to consider switching. I love this phone, etc etc
That said, I would consider switching to Apple if they priced themselves a few hundred dollars cheaper for a more seamless ecosystem. But for what they offer compared to price, it's completely not worth it.
@@cheetah219 you don't get green light saber?
What about the best long lasting between years and how many security updates on the cellphone and battery life ?
That’s a major factor isn’t it ?
So stoked to see Sony take two wins! I was REALLY hoping the Xperia 1 V was going to get an award too. It's such an amazing phone that sadly get's overlooked. It's a legit flagship that is right up there with Samsung's Ultra line. Here's hoping next year Sony will get their act together and give us more software update support (4 years minimum) and shop the darn phones around to carriers!
I just wish they'd offer us a flagship that isn't quite as specced for amateur photographers. I love every other thing about Sony phones and have had several. Currently still using an Xperia1 iii, but my favourite ever is still the Z5 premium. Ticked every box at the time for me. Big screen, all the usual Sony features that other companies have removed. The only thing I'd want on top of what that phone had would be a stylus. I think Sony are missing an opportunity in catering to customers like myself, professionals of a nature that don't need the pro photographer/media features but where Sony's design language really appeals, the SD card is helpful, the camera button is also amazing for the ability to take quick snaps easily when doing research or visiting my customers to take pics of projects. But I really don't need the pro camera software, I just like the rest of the phone, the look and feel is still amazing, the side finger print reader to avoid greasy prints on the screen, the headphones jack, would love the notification led to come back, love the software being basically vanilla but I need to draw plans and design ideas easily and so a big screen and a stylus would be preferable. I know they tried making the more broad customer base phones with the xz range but they just didn't quite have the following or quite get the balance right to draw enough customers. But now they're a far more mature and well recognised phone maker in the current market. So, please Sony, give me a new Z5 premium... With a stylus... Please please please. Because as much as I want to avoid it, I currently only have one option that ticks all the boxes and it's the bloody Samsung s24 ultra, I really don't want to buy one as it looks like a cheap copy of the Sony design of yesterday and doesn't have the headphones jack or the SD support. The only other option is the Asus zenphone 11 ultra, but no stylus... Such a frustrating situation when there's so many phones out there but none that have the combination of features I want.
Thanks for the work you and your team put in. It is truly appreciated

Bro your one of the best tech reviewers I've come across. Would you be able to do a best mobile devices for trading in the financial markets review?
i made a joke about sponsoring opera of all companies, but the way you make sponsor segment is always really good so uhh yea
This video was executed incredibly, well done Arun and the editors I always tune in when that notification pops up
Great video, Arun! Nice to see the S23U on top. I had iPhones for nearly 8 years, from the 6 Plus to the 12 Pro Max and wanted something different. The reviews were great on the S23U so I took a chance and I have to say, I'm glad I did. It was definitely an adjustment at first, but things I thought I'd miss like imessage or FaceTime didn't affect me as I thought it would. The screen on this phone is amazing. The customization options are limitless. The battery exceeds my expectations. Multi-tasking is fluid. Camera and video are dummy proof. Samsung UI is weird with Android. Just weird having two of every core app at first. But a small adjustment. And the recent UI update brought a better app tray, so it is even more user friendly and easy to use. I highly recommend this, even 9 months later!
And you'll not miss imessage even more since Apple will support RCS next year
@@RagingBad ohh fr? i guess ive been living under a rock
@@Rash7 yup, I think by March should be out
I am glad that you have posted something about shifting to Samsung was a goof option and iPhone fan kids haven't attacked you.
I switched to Samsung s22ultra from iphone 13 pro, and man I don't regret it🎉
I have installed opera browser on my phone and laptop just because of MrWhosTheBoss.. Awesome tech review channel for 2023...hands down..
We using phonk for background music now? I love it haha
Really nice awards! I'm going to buy an iPhone 15 later this year and as I saw on your videos is an incredible phone! The S23 and other Android flagships were great as well, but I'm stuck with iOS because I prefer that (I tried both operating sistems)
Mrwhosetheboss, the anticipation is real! Your reviews are my go-to guide for choosing the perfect smartphone. Ready to discover the top picks for 2023! 🌟📲
Nice video. The Poco X6 Pro is a great smartphone. Great cameras! I can confirm, I tested his camera capabilities myself on my channel
I have been using the opera browser and I loved it for its functionalities, especially workspaces. Butttttt, workspaces have recently acted up on me and basically completely dissappeared. The names and icons were still there but all the tabs within the 6 workspaces I had were completely gone. Sooo, I decided to switch back to edge browser since it offers pretty much exactly the same features as Opera ever since they added worspaces too.
Don't want to lose my tabs again lol,
and great video as always, Arun
I got the Galaxy A54 that he talked about in the video. I've had it for 3months now and I can personally highly recommend. With the Gorilla glass they put on the front and back of the phone, makes it were you can drop it and it most likely won't Crack or nothing, super strong and fast to, fingerprint ID is awesome and I got mine for around $350 from best buy and it came unlocked to so I put my own company Sim card in. Best phone I've ever had up into now in life. I really recommend this phone, there's no going wrong. You will not go without liking it, unless your a IPhone user.
did you get the 8 GB version or 6 GB RAM? I have the 6 GB one and it started feeling choppy after five, six months
U sound like me😂. Best phone I've ever owned my entire life
@@videogamenoob100turn off that virtual ram crap. Made my phone super snappy after I turned it off
How's the camera
This has made me realize just how little variance in phones there is nowadays
I got an se 2022 and a s23 ultra , but i really prefer using the se2022 ,because it is compact and smooth ios17 is very stable , and one UI 6 got tons of bugs in my s23 ultra 😢
I use a Samsung Galaxy A51, had it for a couple of years at least and it's pretty solid. Ever since my last 1 or 2 phones, when i started getting more into tech and understanding specs, i actually saw the value of having a budget/midrange phone that is good enough with all the base features i want. I don't really care so much about advanced features, i could dabble into those a bit but my main concern is for the phone's basic uses to be *good enough*. I have no problem with the camera even when i have the quality turned down to save storage space i'm told that my phone's camera (or pics i take with it) are great. I will most likely be always buying midrange phones from now on, making sure that what i get doesn't have many compromises.
I think the midrange and entry-level categories are the most interesting ones, there's so much competition between all of the companies, it's always nice to see the improvements they can fit in that price range.
For instance, we recently got 120hz Amoled displays in a lot of phones, even sub-200€ ones.
@@Rockden nah, it's just there're some good midrange phones like A52 was (A51 wasn't cuz there's nothing interesting in a basically just redesigned A50) and some seemingly good midrange phones like poco X3 Pro with it's name actually meaning *3 probability of suddenly dying while still on warranty, though it wasn't actually *3 as it more like pretty much 100% dead while still on warranty. Midrange kinda getting nice tech is good and smooth amoled becoming somewhat mainstream for midrange is great, though at the same time there're foldables progressing at usain bolt speed. Big foldables getting close to pretty much as usable folded as any other phone while turning into a tablet if needed, while small foldables are as good as any regular phone that can fit in your pocket w/o being nuisance. Pretty much the main reason I bought myself a z flip :D
I agree, ive had both the 15 Pro Max and S23 Ultra, both great phones. As of now, I've put down my 15 Pro Max and traded in my S23 Ultra for the OnePlus Open and i can say, this is the best foldable i've used. So i do agree with his choices.
Using S23 Ultra for the past 2 months only but really satisfied with its amazing battery life
60x camera zoom?
Opera is a dope ass browser he's not lying idk on if there's a differences in opera gx and the regular on but gx is dope
I think the reason why so many people go with apple amd samsung is just because they are amazing all around, yes some phones may have a slightly better camera or be slightly faster but they then lack in the other areas and you have to cope with your phone for 2 to 3 years at least so you have to have a phone that will just be good for you for everyday life
I have to agree. I am still using an S21 Ultra. Sure, I can upgrade, but the phone has exceeded my expectations, and I am still amazed with the little things that I have just figured out how to use. Like the raw mode and astrophotography.
For flagships, maybe. When it comes to more mid-range phones, Samsungs become underwhelming, and iPhones become non-existent.
It's cool to see oneplus making good phones again! Some of the awards were unexpected! Great video!
