I live in Shanghai, little bit of a update for others not in China: Huawei is still huge in China, matter fact - I'd say the US sanction caused Chinese locals to support Huawei (and Chinese brands) much more. Huawei is now manufacturing and distributing their own car brand called Aito. Take a look!
AMAZING!!!THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION !! SO MUCH LOVE FOR CHINA FROM PHILIPPINES. I USE HUAWEI SINCE 2019. THE BANNED DID NOT BOTHER ME AND I ALSO WORK FOR CHINESE PEOPLE ONLINE FOR 4 YEARS. CHINA IS SO ADVANCED!
Not just China, Latin America as well. Honor and Huawei are most popular. Also after 'Israel' stunt blowing up devices I'm never buying American or European ever again.

@@georgemavrides3434writing this on my P20 pro :D I've had it for so long my plastic case received with the phone is completely coming apart and now I need to get a new one. I was thinking getting a new phone just because of the camera, but the phone works so good I don't even want to go through the hassle :D and I will miss Huawei truly, this is my third huawei phone and I liked them all... unfortunately not having the app store is a deal breaker for me 😢
This video felt like 10 mins instead of 20. I love and appreciate all the little nuances and touches you and your team do. From the device tosses and grabs. To the sense of humor. And kudos to your music selection. My head was bobbing while intently listening to what you were saying.
My old Huawei phone is extremely durable . I dropped it many times on hard surface , dropped also in sand , got wet and so on . Always would charge , never ever let me down . It is probably now eight years old and I am still using it . Wished they still would selling it in Canada . Best phone ever . Forget Apple iPhones. My friend went thru four phones during the time that I owe this Huawei phone
Agreed. Using my Huawei Y9 for almost 5 years now and it holds its charge well, things run super smoothly, I've taken it all over the world into +50C and -30C temperatures, and I love how the front camera had a mechanism to tuck itself into the phone so it's not constantly staring at me. I would buy it again over anything else.
Funny enough, I intended it originally to be a decoy device for traveling across borders. It was such a good phone it became my main device. Got my wife one too.
My Huawei mate 20 pro is still running strong in Canada. 5 years now. Problem is that the Android 10 OS can't be upgraded and I've noticed some apps lag or shut down. Kijiji and Yahoo mail is problematic for now. However, the camera îs STILL awesome.
the ban for Huawei was to slow down the development of Chinese mobile tech, but it did the opposite lol. It kinda just boosted the process because now companies like Huawei have no choice but to spend more resources to create their own chips and systems.
It actually benefits humanity as a whole, now China went from chip consumer to competitor. In the future we will get affordable gpu and other tech device.
Funny how the US banned Huawei, when OnePlus and TCL phones sell relatively well here in the US lmao. The justification was that Huawei was a "state owned" corporation, but literally every single company in China is beholden to the government regardless because of how their market functions.
In all fairness, the Mate pad paper matte was designed to be used as an e-book reader, thus the matte screen and average chip, the new Matepad Pro 13.2, on the other hand is a total BEAST...wish you could get your hands on one asap.
Also it illegal to not use mpen with PaperMatte. Cause that was the particular reason for that limited edition. The paper also make the tab not disrupted by the light in the room. Unfortunately I couldn't get my hands on it and change to normal one.
It’s not MatePad Paper, which is a e-book reader with the best in class chip and OS, as well as the worst e-ink display. The matte finish of plain MatePad is purely for handwriting.
@@valkeitosiPhone can do satellite emergency texting only, not voice calling! Mate 60 pro can make two-way real-time satellite calls. Monthly, first three minutes are free. Beyond that, roughly $13 for 80 minutes, by the minutes.
still rocking my Mate 20 RS Porsche Design since 2018 and got a new display over the insurance a couple weeks ago. The phone is from 2018 still has 83 % of the battery runs on 8,0 GB RAM Huawei Kirin 980 and a 3120 x 1440 4k OLED Display and of course its beautiful and still runs all the google apps. BEST PHONE I HAD SO FAR
that's a very beautiful phone, almost got one myself (Mate 60 Pro RS Ultimate) but couldnt justify the expense. I just bought the Mate 60 Pro Plus and previously I had the P40 Pro Plus which since 2020 has 87% battery.
I love how the sponsor is at the end of the video, it really makes it convenient and actually encourages me to support the brand when choosing a product.
I went to an ICT expo in Sri Lanka here today. Guess what, Huawei is one of the prime sponsors. Most of the stalls have Huawei or Honor phones in them. Kudos for them to bouncing back.
@@CaptainMcShotgun41 maybe in the shape yes, all tech companies inspired by apple but in terms of technology and smart features , screen , ect, the chinese giant is way advanced .
Yep, they got banned for good reason: fear of overwhelming competition. Huawei was about to become number 1 world-wide and establish solid foothold on american soil. All USA companies lobbied against it, so it happened oh-so-illegally, pressuring TSMC oh-so-illegally into submission. Classic USA shenanigans. The fear is still real though: China might pull it off in the end with in-house products. That recycled 2016 tech spurting out a 2023 flagship is mind-boggling! P.S. Do ignore that @CaptainMcShotgun41, it's an obvious troll account.
I'm not even a tech person but this was an interesting, informative, and well-edited video, i watched all of it thoroughly entertained! As an aside, my sister owned a midrange huawei and that was probably the most durable phone anyone in family's ever used. She actually got annoyed that it worked so well for so long-she wanted to buy a replacement, but the thing refused to give up
I loved my Huawei Mate 20 Pro it hyped me way more the S10+ those days. I'm sure the reason why Samsung began using 3x and 10x optical zoom is thanks to Huawei using 3x and 5x when most companies just compromised with 2x zoom.
I also use a Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Holy cow, It is actually outperforming some of my Family Member's Younger Phones that should be better but are worst than my Mate 20
Mate 20 was my first HUAWEI phone and it was amazing. If it wasn’t for the sanctions, HUAWEI would have been the best selling brand. That is why it’s sanctioned…
Massive props to Huawei. Always been a fan of their creative and innovative choices and unlike some other top brands they are actually doing something unique. I say we let them work and grow, they might prove to be even bigger competitors than they were before. And god forbid the Apple Sanctions are lifted off, they'll legit shake the tech world.
@@Adrian-wd4rnwhat makes a product great? You copy the others and make it far better. You find solution for a problem , not creating a problem and find solution.
I was sad but now I'm so glad you decided to come back to reviewing Huawei products! While the ban affected the availability in the US, there are still plenty of fans and users worldwide who rely on Huawei products. Your reviews are valuable to a global audience, so please don't stop. Keep up the great work!
This is just the beginning. Just got their Pura 70 Ultra and it's a fucking beast. Best damn phone I have ever owned. Even though 5G doesn't work. Guess it doesn't have the compatible 5G band for Tmobile.
Lets see your excitement after a month or two hahahahahhaha .In China it is called IQ tax phone. Open youtube, this video is the first one to talk well about their phones. Their smartwatches are great though as they dont require mega chips.
OMG all these years as I was scavenging here and there for the slightest information about Huawei products, I thought you guys had completely abandoned reviewing them. Which was depressing and frustrating. Huawei aren't dead.
@@KimYoungUn69 not really, in usa yes, but here in norway they still exist, its just that they used to have their own section in the electronic store, now they are just in the corner
@@KimYoungUn69 it really isnt all that bad. Unless you really need android auto there isnt anything the phone cant do. Also you get security patches every month which still puts to shame quite a lot of phone makers.

This is the real reason why the west banned them. They would ban everything from china if they could. They are truly terrified of china. They are developing so fast and it's a threat to the west's dominance of the world.
Ironically, it seems (from what I've seen in this video) that the ban might have done more unintentional good than harm. Looks as though the ban forced some innovation within Hauwei. Who knows, they might be able to compete with U.S. products soon.
I love the fact that the hammer swing is the same velocity on both phones, good job man, i really was expecting there to be a soft blow for iphone and a harder for the Huawei. It's exactly this kind of testing that keeps me coming back for your tech reviews. Thank you.
They copied whatever Apple are doing at a cheaper price, minus R&D and with government subsidies, Chinese treat Huawei as Chinese Tech God and China Tech pride
I had a P20 and a P30 Pro, loved the phones, never had a problem with either of them and the P30 Pro’s camera was brilliant..Shame things have ended up like this
I still use a P30 pro, still better than iPhone 14 pro max camera, havent tested 15 pro max but yeah. Battery life phenomenal after 4+ years and runs all the apps I need
@@Tigolian I switched to iPhone after the P30 Pro..Big downgrade. I miss the camera mostly as that’s what I use most on a phone, I would upgraded to another Huawei but they had stopped selling them where I live. 🙃
@@Tigolian The P30 Pro is amazing, I have it since almost 4 years and the Kirin 980 continues being a beast in 2023. If I upgrade my phone in 2024, it will be obviously a P60 Pro or Mate 60 Pro!
My first Huawei phone was the P20, the P40 Pro plus, then now, bought the P60 Pro when it was released here in the Philippines. What I love about the Huawei P series is the camera because I am a photographer. Superb! Nothing can beat it! Bought the Huawei Laptop also to pair it with my Huawei phone. Was given a Huawei Watch and weighing scale when I bought the P60 Pro. Love Huawei!
Huawei has unparalleled cameras. I'm still using my Mate 40 Pro and its still a super powerful chip with over 900k points on Antutu and it shows in real life. Arun said it himself that it was a beast of a chip. No plans switching especially now that they now have 5.
This is one the most comprehensive, interesting, honest review ever. Probably one of your best videos ever. Super interesting and outside of mainstream crap.
I have the Freebuds 5 and I really love them. They fit really well on my ears. I have fallen asleep with them and wake up the next morning with them still in, and I move a lot sleeping. Also it has Bluetooth multipoint which allows it to connect to more than one device at the same time. And has the LDAC codec which allows hi res audio, this is usually only present in very high end earphones.
That "glass" on the Huawei phone is a game changer! You could put the entire screen protector and screen repair indistries out of business if that was installed on iPhones. Clearly not acceptable to Apple's planed obsolescence team.
No matter how good a product is, it loses its appeal when you discover that it is being used for surveillance on behalf of the Chinese government. Nevertheless, some RUclipsrs continue to make efforts to promote the product in the guise of testing it, lol.
@@NomadStatesDo you use ABC (Google)? Do you use any social media platforms run by Meta? Do you use Apple? Samsung? You do realize all these companies collect info and can disclose said info to the government at any time. You signed the user agreement. Our whole system is centralized. Stop spreading misinformation, the whole world runs on consensus. The reason they banned Huawei was to protect the interests of American tech giants. Huawei didn’t want to be integrated into their system, follow their rules, and ultimately, become a pawn in the centralized “free market”. We love to boast about our “free market” when it’s pretty obvious that it’s manipulated by the 1% 🤡
The P30 was my favourite phone back then. Ahead of its time and very good value. Outstanding, I didn't see any phone like that since then. Everything has problems, is overprized or doesn't have the newest tech
P30 pro is also my last phone before P60 pro. There is not much new despite the gap between the two phones. Nonetheless, i must say that the P60 pro is the camera upgrade i never knew i needed.
The P30 is my one and only Huawei phone and one big reason I bought it was because of the fantastic blue color finish, which was way more exciting than the usual boring black, white, and gray looks. Even though software updates have stopped, I still keep and use it from time to time, as well as updating the apps when needed. And the camera was, and still is, takes amazing photos! I loved using the macro feature
Very cool video! My one nitpick would be when you said about the tablet that "it doesn't feel as good as Samsung or Apple's top-end tablets". I feel you should have clarified that Huawei does have the MatePad Pro 13.2 which is top-end and therefore competes with other top-end offerings. Not really fair to the Papermatte to use that sentence to compare it to the top-ends.
He also forget to mention the newest nearlink tech. Which make their wireless earbug the best product in term of sound quality right now and nearlink support other device too like the mate pencil
I'm not sure if you've noticed, but they just decide to simply ignore them. I mean, even when they review products from other companies, there are plenty of instances where they should've addressed Huawei, but they don't, as if Huawei never existed, just like here with their pro version of tablets. Even when the Mate 60 Pro was released with a new chip, not a single mainstream techie covered it.
Imagine what Huawei would be doing if they hadn't been banned! I wish they weren't... Anyways Arun, thanks for the great video and the time you spent to entertain us all. This is the one channel I have never gotten bored of - keep up the amazing work and have a good trip to Japan.
The seamless connectivity between the devices, plus the fact that they have their own OS system is pretty cool actually…I totally forgot about the Huawei brand years ago😮💨
That's the best thing actually, its like 100x better than air drop in transferring files. And using tablets as 2nd screen or a drawing tablet for your PC is so useful. Not to mention things like watches and earphones and home appliances connectivity. In terms of eco system its so much better than Apple.
I bought the Huawei GT3 pro as I was so disappointed in how poor the Galaxy watches batteries were. The GT3 pro is an absolute game changer, sometimes going nearly 12 days before needing a charge. I've recommended it to 4 people already and they all prefer it to their previous Galaxy watch (or Apple watch for one of them).
Had a Honor band 5 for 5 years and there was still no reason to replace it with an Huawei GT Runner, but did it anyway a year ago. A great performing Watch with great battery life. Huawei makes great devices.
@Sofus-fu4ro I've used iphones 6-9 via the company I worked for back then who mandated iphones. I really did not like the "locked" system, and overall UI/UX was subpar for my style of use. The last straw was, in the winter, from parking lot walking to the office, my battery dropped from 90% to 30%. They also charge much slower than android phones. iphones are also more expensive, so overall not considering them. I find midranged android phones the best, and outside of samsung, it's really chinese makers in terms of variety/choice.

I had a Huawei P30 for 3 years and loved it! I bought it for 500 Euro and after 3 years sold it for 300. My next phone was a Galaxy S21 and while I liked it I did not really feel it as a step up like I would expect. If the ban had not happened I would most likely be using a Mate series device now.
I've been watching for years and TBH I missed the Huawei coverage. Loved the vid and great to see a return to this! It's a shame that there's a trade war going on as Huawei was honestly bringing the smartphone market forward, and now it just feels like they have disappeared.
Thats just in the US, here in the middle east they're growing fast, especially with people finding out the west is our direct enemy and boycotting them. Huawei is cheap, efficient and can be fast and luxurious if shell out some more. The US and the west didn't want their monopoly challenged, so this is the result.
@@profile1565"huawei is garbage", clearly you talk with emotions, not with sense. There is a good reason why the west opened a war on Huawei. You can do the math.
Huawei phones were my go-to before the ban. I had the Huawei Mate 8 and later the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and those phones were amazing for the times. Like their cameras (which are the aspect I most care about) were just so good! However, I now own an Samsung S23 Ultra. I have no complaints, but I do feel like Huawei was just more fun in terms price and innovation. I truly wish we could see what they could do without the bans
I stuck with Huawei and have the P40 Pro. Despite being 4 years old, most times people still prefer my pics to those of their S22 and S23 ultras. Huawei was way ahead of everyone and the US couldn't stand it.

@@NomadStates It was never found to it being used by the chinese government to spy on the US. It was the fastest growing chinese company at the time and could potentially be used to spy on the US. US and Trump got scared so they decided to ban huawei.
Finally Huawei gets some love in terms of reviewing their products! Their phones and other gadgets are constantly growing even with the bans from the US, and they are pretty strong at evolving and pushing through the problems. This video covered pretty much everything, but could you consider doing some tests with the Maye/P 60 Pro vs the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the iPhone 15 Pro max and other flagships? Battery, camera, performance etc just to see how HarmonyOS and Kirin9000s or the SDG2 hold up with Huawei's optimization. Also the cameras are pretty sick, would be nice how they hold up as well.
It's very cool to see what Huawei have been up to, since no one talks about them anymore. I assumed they weren't doing very well and was amazed to find out they are still making good products
that's the difference between chinese and western companies..... if this kind of sanction happens to a western company, they'd just fire everyone except the executives... but huawei kept their R&D and kept creating new products and patents so even after a few years, we don't see their products are behind but actually more advanced than their competitors
Huawei has very good phones. I remember my mom had some $300 mid-range Huawei phone and its camera was so freaking good. It even had features like long exposures back in 2015.
Huawei phones are really dynamic. I literally destroyed my P30 lite playing so many high quality games, 7000 photos and videos, fell of my hand so many times and still after 4 years it behaves like I have been using it for about a year. So Great. Definitely buying P70 pro when it releases
Bro I had a 250€ Huawei P8 Lite and that Phone hold out 4 Years without Lagging or other dumb stuff. Yeah I needed to change the Back 3 Times because I broke the Glass Part which had the Camera under it but man did that Phone hold up
Got a P30 over 4 years ago, loved it, but didn't realize how good it was until I got an Samsung phone. Glad to see I wasn't just crazy and they make a lot of high quality products.
I used Huawei for about 2 years, had the whole eco system and adored it! But when it got banned absolutely devastated me😢. I’ve moved to Apple, purchased iPad, AirPods, iPhone etc…and I still thinking about Huawei, I want it back so much😢
When I heard of the ban, I immediately thought, "Ahh, the Americans are afraid of bigger competition". They're doing everything they can to get people to hate the Chinese. Spy balloons that turned out to be just a weather balloon?
No they are a bunch of copy cats and those phones he showed were so poorly reviewed , buggy, slow , and these are Chinese people saying. Homeboy is paid by the Chinese to make this
I have been using huawei for more than 7 years and I am so happy that I can't tell you. I have a P40 and at the same time I have a watch and a laptop, they work in full harmony and my phone has no google service, so my charge goes more. Plus, I don't get ridiculous notifications, but if I had google service, I would get tons of notifications. I dropped the device from my hand on the stairs and when I picked it up, there was not even a scratch on my device, which surprised me a lot. I think huawei produces the best devices of recent times.
@@nerovanguard846 You are very right, that's what we are saying, it performs much better than the phone with normal google services. Most applications are already written by google. What I advocate is a smooth operating system and a better charging time than the phone with google services.
I like that you update people on huawei also. I think they deserve to be talked about as much as samsung or iPhone. It's very exciting to see what they present for every release 👏🏽👏🏽
I'm still using my MatePad from 2019. With a tablet, it's definitely doable to use a web version instead of an mobile version of an app. I also have a couple of watches (Huawei Watch Buds, Huawei Talkband) that have earbuds for your phone integrated into the watches that I am surprised other companies aren't copying.
Thanks for the review. I bought the P60 Pro in South Africa. I must admit there are small things I miss, like the Google assistant. Celia from Huawei is useless, but for the rest is good. The battery is a bit of a let down, but it charges very fast. I got a great deal I couldn't refuse. I got it on a 24 month contract with the earbuds and GT3 Watch "free". Not too bad at all. I think Huawei might even overtake Google in a few years from now.
@@zy3859 I agree, in terms of new features, I can't see the other major brands bring something new to the table. Huawei has done a great job. Just two things I want to improve and that is the assistant Celia, she needs big work to recognise our western accent - I'm in South Africa and I tell you 99% of the time she gets my intructions wrong. Like in totally wrong. Then there is Petal Maps. I loooove it more than Google maps, but many times it gets the routing. I use traffic ON, because I travel 100km day to work and back and sometimes the routing is not that good, BUT there was times, though not many, that Petal Maps did a better job than Google Maps. I run both of them simultaneously to compare and learn. I hope that one day I can ditch Google Maps. Thid month I'll be using Petal Maps for a year.
Totally agree with you, Huawei rocks! Have 2 laptops P40 Pro with HarmonyOs, FreeBuds matepad, Watch gt3 pro etc, love it and really glad no Google is in it, but still somewhat annoying for developers making their apps force close if GMS is gone, but everything else is really amazing...
The bans are because the Western govts are terrified of being overtaken in tech. Govt regulators hide behind fake Chinese spying threats and IP theft claims (which doesn't even make sense since Huawei is beyond Western tech) in order to squash potential competition from the big bad scary commies. It's truly pathetic if you think about it. They shouldn't have decimated their industrial base and dumbed down their educational systems. Then they could have a chance at competing rather than sabotaging.
I really love the look from harmony os, it feels like that the devs and designers were able to give it a little more creativity. For example, the eye comfort option, if you activate it, it blinks shortly vs googles oh yea change the background color rq.
It's a shame that Huawei was banned back then. But this only made Huawei more determined to create some amazing techs. Hopefully we can see Huawei competing with other brands that has Android
Huawei was banned, because it became the largest phone manufacturer in the world(they've overcome samsung...). In Europe it started attracting iPhone users and the US did that to protect Apple. (I was one of the ones who switched from Apple to Huawei and was much more satisfied, to be honest). Even my boss bought a Mate Laptop and was really satisfied for two years with it. I had the Mate20 Pro ~5 years ago... that smartphone was/ is amazing. After two years I gave it to my mother and she still uses it to work from it. The battery replacement with original one in the official service store here costed us like 5$(every friday all service procedures were 50% discounted and they had additional 50% discount of the battery price) and they ensure that all new seals are properly installed and the water resistance is preserved during the replacement procedure. They even give you a free coffee, while you're waiting there. It took them ~1 hour for the replacement. They even put a screen protection folio for free... Lol!

They're not keeping an eye on you an more than an Android phone. iPhone might be a little more secure, since they don't use Google services, but what difference does it really make

Before the restrictions these phones were definatelly the best price to quality phones in Europe. My dad still uses his Huawei which he's had for like 5 years now, and he uses it quiet a lot.
As a P60 PRO owner, I have no complaints. There are some apps that I cannot use that I have made accounts by logging in with google, and I also couldnt get my galaxy watch 4 classic to pair up in the app with my phone, but that only led me to discover how amazing their smartwatches are. I am getting 5 days of battery with constant vitals monitoring and 24/7 always on display. The only thing I miss from my watch 4 is the ability to do contactless payments but I can just as easily pull out my physical card.
Switched to GT4 few months ago from GT(1), there was no particular reason, maybe the free FreeBuds. The old one was still in perfect condition with battery performant almost as new, still lasting up to 2 weeks with pulse/blood monitoring enabled. The battery life is the best feature, everyone loves that.
For the phone mate 60, it’s not just the glass with is super strong, but also the structure of the phone, HUAWEI is using a totally different structural design(called 玄武架构), which can distribute pressure on the phone more evenly, make the phone harder to brake.
I have a Huawei 5T, been using it for the last 4 years. It has not freeze or crash once. It's super durable - i have been dropping it a lot, but not even one crack on the screen yet. Honestly the best phone I have ever owned.

I feel like its also worth mentioning their laptops. I have the Matebook D14, and it honestly feels so premium for what i got it for. The software on top of windows is amazing (the AI search particularly, its so fast) and even though i dont have a huawei phone, i can tell it would pair greatly with one.
I have the Matebook D15 and have done for about 2 years now. It hasn't missed a beat and is still as fast as the day I set it up! I haven't yet felt the need to change it, the only quibble I have with it is the battery life, its poor compared with other laptops but even then it isn't the deal breaker for me as I am usually near to a power outlet if needed. When I do need a new laptop I am inclined towards another Matebook!
@@forceninewinds Exactly. People tend to dismiss huawei due to their chinese background. But the thing is, especially with laptops, its mainly the specs that matter. But hauwei doesnt care they still gave a premium experience for the cost. Personally, my battery experience has been phenomenal (i assume because i have the ryzen variant, running the AMD Ryzen Balanced power plan).... Snappy, fast, and battery efficient (i usually get around 6-7 hours of continuous use if I'm just doing word documents, watching videos etc.) However, if i were to go for a more expensive laptop without the thought of value or cost, I wouldn't choose a matebook. There are better options available but those are all higher cost as well and less bang for the buck. Matebooks have the best value from what ive seen.
I have the d15, a Huawei earbuds, and a Huawei smartphone. It feels so premium than my MacBook. It feels like I was in a very corporate setting with all of the seamless connection functionality. The laptop itself is great for gaming even for mid to heavy games. I never regretted buying my Huawei gadgets, I am currently eyeing the smartwatch. In conclusion, the most seamless ecosystem and underrated brand ever in the technological era. People need to look past the Chinese background and actually look at what the US is doing. They never wanted to have a Chinese competitor to be as successful as the ones based on the US.
My last huawei phone was the mate 20 pro. Honestly bought it since they where the first and only at the time with under screen fingerprint reader that i knew of (this was before the s10 launched) And i gotta say, i miss that phone. It was a proper piece of tech that surpassed my expetations. a great camera system, amazing battery life, innovations that they dared to try before anyone else. It was amazing. But sadly it got cracked after dropping it from my hands in the winter onto ice. and while it still worked after that for half a year. it slowly got more and more broken to the point of unusuable. Which then i bought a s10e and missed the huawei. To be honest, i would have gotten a new huawei if it wasn't for the google ban. and even trough the years i've considered trying it again. But there has been recently rumors that the phone operators here in norway will block all new and old huawei devices from their cell network in the comming time which has made me stay away for the time being (aswell as daily driving a z fold 3 as we speak) but am hoping thats not the case since i know many ppl that still use huawei phones today (they are still being sold in store here)
Me too. I have mate 30 pro running on Harmony Os, bit some app still not running well even after installing G-Space. I really want to have Mate 60 Pro, but because there was No GMS, so I bought Galaxy S23 Ultra 😅
i agree, the mate 10/20 were such a beast & step up from other brands. the p20/30 /pro were good alternatives too tho especially for the price they offered. if u wanted a similiar brand with same performance & features u had to pay at least extra 200$ for it. (at least in my region)
I still have my mate 10 working like a charm! Bought it Jan 2018 and still excellent condition now Nov 2023! My daily phone now are Honor brand. So, yes. Still Huawei❤❤❤
@@IronMan-fi3xz i dont think so, only thing they can do is not supporting the bands the phone can use (somewhat only important if u buy chinese model phones and your country doesnt have the same bands that the rest of the world uses). iirc, they could ban the Sim carrier (Vodafone for example) to access any cellular access, so u have to swap out a sim card only for a different brand. I could be wrong, but never heard of a case like that, unless the Goverment changes their own phone bands that the actual phone doesnt support anymore
Thanks Arun for covering the products of Huawei... I also thought they were dead but it seems they have managed to move ahead... let's see what will happen in the future.
Thank you so much for finally putting your skill into the making of a video showcasing HUAWEI products I have personally used and owned (and still do for some like the Mate 60 Pro+). Hopefully it gets more people to notice that Huawei has never disappeared and is on the brink of coming back as determined as ever. We need a third operative system for phones. Imagine for one minute the extra choices it would give customers and the added competitiveness. It's not only about Google and iOS.
No matter how good a product is, it loses its appeal when you discover that it is being used for surveillance on behalf of the Chinese government. Nevertheless, some RUclipsrs continue to make efforts to promote the product in the guise of testing it, lol.
My first smartwatch was a 1st Gen Huawei Watch with the milanese band and I absolutely *loved* it. Yeah, that ban sucks here in the US because Huawei puts out some fantastic products and now they're near impossible to get without going through some back channels.
The main thing I miss from my Huawei phone is the 30 second warning till it powers off due to low battery (don't know if any other brand has that feature), and now seeing what they've done since they were banned makes me miss having a Huawei even more as the Super Device feature seems really interesting
Man your behind the times.Xiaomi has a phone that when it's empty holds back one percent or 30 minutes of battery life. Huawei aren't banned you can buy a Huawei any where would you like to send me the money and I will send you the phone you want ?
My Huawei Mate 20 Pro from 2018 (now 6 years old) was the best phone I ever had. Back then, it had 40w charging, reverse wireless charging, 3d facial AND fingerprint recognition, amazing screen, 3x zoom and wide angle lenses, amazing night time shots the list goes on. I got a Huawei P40 Pro without Google and it is still amazing. Surprisingly you don't actually need specific Google apps. And the camera on my P40 Pro, despite being 4 years old is still doing amazing stuff. Most people always want my pictures and they want me to take all pics with my phone. Even now, apple and Samsung can't match it's low light shots. I love it and it's still going strong. Huaweis hardware was so far ahead of the industry. People are saying Huawei was shady and stealing stuff but how can they steal stuff the others didn't even yet have. Lol. My P40 Pro doesn't feel like a 4 year old phone when the image quality is still so good. The US is jealous and petty that a Chinese tech company was, before the ban, ahead of apple and was about to overtake Samsung. They didn't want a Chinese tech company to overtake them so they banned them. Typical of America. If they can't do it, no one else should be able to either. They suck. They are the bullies of the world. I will stick with Huawei. And even till today, apple or Samsung can't get close to Huawei watches 2 week battery life. My Huawei watch lasts at least 2 weeks on a charge. Huawei's hardware is simply better. And they couldn't stand it.
Still using a P30 Pro. I don't know what I'm gonna do if I have to replace it eventually. I need the google ecosphere and don't have time to do it the janky way. Will always stick with Huawei watches though. My GT2 is 3 or 4 years old now and the battery still lasts 2 weeks with every constant monitoring option turned on. It boggles my mind how Apple and Samsung watches only last a day on a charge. What is even the point of such watches?
The signal of Huawei mobile phones is also very good. My friends and I use Huawei and Apple mobile phones in the same place. The Huawei mobile phone can still access the Internet, but I cannot open any Apple web pages.
@@onkycui exactly. in my family, out of all the devices (iPhone 13 pro included), my 7 years old huawei has the best pickup of the network. Like when I go to rural places, and the network is weak, only my huawei can get the network.
I've been glued to all reviews for days. The storytelling is fantastic. This tech channel is more entertaining than some comic shows. Love from Nigeria 🇳🇬.
Huawei is working very well, in front of a situation that any other smartphone brand has been through. I have the P30 Pro, a Matepad 11, a Matebook 13 and the Watch 3, and I can appreciate the effort of the brand putted on his products.
I can relate, totally true. Watch gt2 pro, mate 40 Pro, matebook 14s, freebuds Pro and, of course, matepad 11 (which is just amazing price/value ratio) and it all works so well together. Bought it all second hand so cost me 5800pln (below 1400usd) within 2 years.
Always execellent information and research, providing your ad during the smash up test was just brilliant and kept the interest throughout, always innovative, keep it like that, cheers from Greece!

My mom has a huawei mate 40 pro and it's still insane, no lag no glitchs constant updates as i remember ( my memory isn't the best) AMAZING camera quality and REALY sharp photoes, the chip is not bad, it's decent and is insane and still holds strong even until right now, definetly the goat of the huawei mate lineup 💪
I've been using a Huawei Mate 10 (AL00) for the past 5 and a half years and after it got the HarmonyOS update for the first time, I could tell that the next generations of Huawei's phones is going to changed the world of Smartphones
My last phones before I went Apple were the P9 and P20 Pro, loved those phones! Was just forced to go the old Apple and Samsung path as I had to have them with my line of work. Seeing all the tech and advancements Huawei have done despite the BS ban they were facing, will make me seriously consider them again once the ban is lifted. Just the google suite alone if available to them would make me switch in a heartbeat.
@EdrawEditsand up until the Snowden leaks there was no proof of the extent of the us domestic intelligence gathering operations. It doesn’t mean the risk isn’t there. Personally I’m fine with the us spying not so keen on china doing it tho. It’s about who has that information and what power they can impose with it. In America our government is checked by the people not so much in china.
@@Myjacob99every "smart" device has spyware installed, apple is also working with the us government and all that. modern software and tech is si filled with spyware these days that it doesn't even matter anymore. even Qualcomm's chips have a backdoor for the alphabet organisations, and they can use it even when the phone is turned off. All the tech giants have so many information about you that you never imagined they could have. and of course, they work with the government.
@@Myjacob99 while youre probably not wrong, its been known for quite a few years now that US service providers sell all of your data as well (recently came out foreign governments are most likely spying through push notifications as well). so unless you're planning on not using any of the phones i dont think that can be considered a valid reason.
Honestly I'm super impressed, when I heard about the ban in 2019 I thought Huawei was done for but I'm glad to see they still trying new things Edit:Thanks for the likes everyone I've never gotten so many before
Huawei is not trying... Huawei is evolving. They are developing their own ecosystem from scratch in china. Infact, now their products are so diverse, wayyyy more diverse than Samsung and Apple. They even create advanced self driving cars that actually rival Tesla. Huawei is becoming more advanced
Regardless of everything else i just like the story of how being into the ground just made the company and it's products better than it ever was and not fall that much behind on what it could've been. Great lesson in perseverance
I've been using a Huawei Mate XS2 (the crazy outside folder) in the US for almost a year now, and it's the absolute best piece of phone hardware I've ever held. The durability concerns that were endlessly echoed at its release are almost completely wrong. The screen has held up beautifully with only the barest amount of extra care. I don't baby it, and I've even taken it on a two week kayak-camping trip in the backcountry. I use it daily for productivity, entertainment, and as an ebook reader. It's basically the perfect phone/tablet profile- super lightweight, easy to hold, stands on its own, and runs smoothly both folded and unfolded. Would I be slightly happier if it ran Google services natively? Yes, because I'm a big google user. But with Gbox installed, 99% of everything works just fine.
Same here i a using it for a year now, i dropped around 6 times on marbles and tiles, first time it was mistakenly dropped around 6ft height it is super durable just some scratches on the film may be if i had normal phone my screen would have been broke, camera and UI is superb, the only thing ic complain is battery now i am usingon 60hz working fine, last week i met a guy with samsung fold iwas about to unfold it he prevented me told me the hinged is stuck after drop if i unfold it, it'll either broke skin or it'll be stuck to unfolded state, and their crease is terrible.
I love the curved edges of the mate 60 pro and ever since Huawei did it back in the p40 pro i've wanted that tech to get adapted by ANYONE. Granted i am into curved edges, i just like how they feel when using gestures for navigation. But seeing how sick this quad curved display looks without overdoing it, i love it!
Yeah, it is smooth for gestures. It feels odd doing it with non-quad edge. Another thing with P40 Pro is the underdisplay speaker. It seems they ditched that now😥
Holy I've been thinking about getting a new phone and recently found your channel and MAN you make such entertaining, well thought out and clearly presented conted with peak humour. Cudos to you sir!
I've got a P30, had it years and still love it, had an iPhone and always wanted to get this fixed, now I have I remember why I missed this phone so much, honestly I couldn't even imagine how good the P60 and later must be.
That's one great ecosystem they've created through these years. They seem to still making great, nice products. I think we all expect them to disappear, but still there they are, still improving. Really impressive.
They weren't going to disappear, they were doing fine locally before americans started buying their phones and they'll continue to do fine on local revenue, even if americans can't contribute to their sales anymore
Honestly Huawei is still popular everywhere else except the US and some parts of Europe. Its a good brand and has its own app store and apps. Id say its still competitive in the rest of the world except those two places
I live in Shanghai, little bit of a update for others not in China:
Huawei is still huge in China, matter fact - I'd say the US sanction caused Chinese locals to support Huawei (and Chinese brands) much more. Huawei is now manufacturing and distributing their own car brand called Aito. Take a look!

Agreed.
Same here my mate 20 pro running 7 years strong, dropped it loads, the battery and the fast charge still perfect, why did trump have to ban huawei fs
the ban for Huawei was to slow down the development of Chinese mobile tech, but it did the opposite lol. It kinda just boosted the process because now companies like Huawei have no choice but to spend more resources to create their own chips and systems.

Watching this on my p30. After several years the phone still perform well.
I feel you should have clarified that Huawei does have the MatePad Pro 13.2 which is top-end and therefore competes with other top-end offerings. Not really fair to the Papermatte to use that sentence to compare it to the top-ends.
Totally agree, whoever touched a MatePad Pro 13.2, there is no return, it is just that GOOD!

I mean, even when they review products from other companies, there are plenty of instances where they should've addressed Huawei, but they don't, as if Huawei never existed, just like here with their pro version of tablets. Even when the Mate 60 Pro was released with a new chip, not a single mainstream techie covered it.

Man your behind the times.Xiaomi has a phone that when it's empty holds back one percent or 30 minutes of battery life. Huawei aren't banned you can buy a Huawei any where would you like to send me the money and I will send you the phone you want ?
Honor is basically just Huawei stuff with native Google support (including super device with honor or huawei devices), check that brand out
huawei P30 has it
I'm sure you're a real Huawei user😄, I'm a fan of Huawei, and although I don't use Huawei now😔, I still follow him and I hope he gets better😋
Brother,I'm getting my Huawei phone and entering into Huawei ecosystem next year❤️🩹🎅
Still using a P30 Pro.
@@Renee_R343你可以试试中国品牌小米,不过我不知道在你的地区是否有售
@@onkycui exactly. in my family, out of all the devices (iPhone 13 pro included), my 7 years old huawei has the best pickup of the network. Like when I go to rural places, and the network is weak, only my huawei can get the network.

Bought it all second hand so cost me 5800pln (below 1400usd) within 2 years.
forgot to mention THE WORLD-FIRST satellite calling funtion on the mate60 pro.
50pro has it,though
But it’s expensive 😹

No matter how good a product is, it loses its appeal when you discover that it is being used for surveillance on behalf of the Chinese government. Nevertheless, some RUclipsrs continue to make efforts to promote the product in the guise of testing it, lol.
HarmonyOS is not only apply to smartphone...It connects everything.
@@bearli1298 yes,my Geely e-car has HarmonyOS too
My last phones before I went Apple were the P9 and P20 Pro, loved those phones! Was just forced to go the old Apple and Samsung path as I had to have them with my line of work.
Seeing all the tech and advancements Huawei have done despite the BS ban they were facing, will make me seriously consider them again once the ban is lifted. Just the google suite alone if available to them would make me switch in a heartbeat.
they use spyware so its not a bs ban
@EdrawEditsand up until the Snowden leaks there was no proof of the extent of the us domestic intelligence gathering operations. It doesn’t mean the risk isn’t there. Personally I’m fine with the us spying not so keen on china doing it tho. It’s about who has that information and what power they can impose with it. In America our government is checked by the people not so much in china.
@EdrawEdits we are talking about a Chinese company who is known for working with the Chinese government the spyware is definitely there
@@Myjacob99every "smart" device has spyware installed, apple is also working with the us government and all that. modern software and tech is si filled with spyware these days that it doesn't even matter anymore. even Qualcomm's chips have a backdoor for the alphabet organisations, and they can use it even when the phone is turned off.
Honestly I'm super impressed, when I heard about the ban in 2019 I thought Huawei was done for but I'm glad to see they still trying new things
Edit:Thanks for the likes everyone I've never gotten so many before
well US isn't the only country in the world.

Trying
Huawei is not trying... Huawei is evolving.
They are developing their own ecosystem from scratch in china.
Infact, now their products are so diverse, wayyyy more diverse than Samsung and Apple.
They even create advanced self driving cars that actually rival Tesla.
Huawei is becoming more advanced
Technologically, the ban made them stronger and continues to make them stronger.
Was cool meeting you in the Kyoto train station.
-white guy with boss hoodie 😂
That's one great ecosystem they've created through these years. They seem to still making great, nice products. I think we all expect them to disappear, but still there they are, still improving. Really impressive.
They weren't going to disappear, they were doing fine locally before americans started buying their phones and they'll continue to do fine on local revenue, even if americans can't contribute to their sales anymore
Honestly Huawei is still popular everywhere else except the US and some parts of Europe. Its a good brand and has its own app store and apps. Id say its still competitive in the rest of the world except those two places
Basically two major Markets, UK and USA can't use Huawei because of Trump.
Whole USA can't compete with single Huawei
Except China..I don’t think they are popular anywhere.. No one wants to keep privacy at risk 😅
