If you hired a plumber, landscaper, or interior designer and they got ill, it’s a transactional relationship so you’re automatically gonna be thinking “well who’s gonna do the work now? I was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer in February and although the doctors never told me my husband might leave I can feel him losing the desire to fight for me.
The hospital story, I think it is a good idea for doctors to let them know they might get cheated on, so they know not to FULLY rely on their partners, so they have a backup plan for appointments and worst case scenarios
Our daughter had to take my husband to the ER in April as I had to leave to take our youngest and niece to Disney on Ice. Not long after they got there she had to pick up her boyfriend and bring him to the same ER because he needed stitches. We tease her that she’s the ambulance now lol

My therapist told my partner and I when I was going through a certain type of treatment that it can lead to break ups, it did, until my partner realized his mistake and yes I took him back because I understood what was going on during my treatment. Since then we've been good, going on strong for nearly 10 yrs.
I've had Pancreatitis for 11 yrs now & when I was first diagnosed I spent at least a week out of every month for an entire year in the hospital unfortunately but NEVER once did anyone, let alone a medical professional, try telling me that my significant other may possibly leave me bc of my illness. That's absolutely absurd and so beyond unethical to say the very least.
My dad had it after 30 years of being a POS alcoholic. He finally quits out of force due to pancreatistis and becomes addicted to morphine and diloted. 😂 I liked him better as an alcoholic because pill heads are evil when they don't have their fix
it is not unethical. just because it didn't happen to you doesn't mean it doesn't happen to others. it's a common enough occurrence that medical professionals try to mentally prepare women for it to happen.

I disagree with Sam's take on the story of the husband finding the video of his wife getting railed. I do agree with the general sentiment that it's wrong to do something just to hurt someone. However, when someone has hurt you that deeply, I think it's understandable that you would want to get even. I don't advise it, but I can't fault him for it, especially since his wife is the one who suggested it (even if it was a desperate attempt to try to keep him). I don't think you can excuse just anything with extreme emotion, but I think you can excuse this.

I had cancer as a child, I'm cured now and have been working closely with families of children with cancer for over 20 years now. The divorce rates and the amount of fathers that simply leave or check-out in astronomical. And this is their children! When it's the wife receiving the diagnosis, it's much worse. For some reason, the same doesn't happen the other way around. Women tend to stay - even if the marriage was rocky before. Its also true that women are warned about this statistics, while being informed about everything else - obviously NOT at the moment of diagnosis, but later on, when discussing all the potential related issues (work, family, income, support network, etc.). It's a long process - even after being in remission, there's a standard 5 year monitoring period.
With the patient that had a serious issue, Sam they do tell you. Not cheat but leave. Your husband will leave you do you have a family member or other support system. Ive seen it and my close friend refused to tell her husband because he absolutely would. It became "too much effort, but she looks so hot now that she lost weight. Its too bad about her hair". Ugh. Leave that man

When I was diagnosed with cancer, the oncologist told me that I needed to prepare myself for my boyfriend leaving me. He didn't.

I don't think you can excuse just anything with extreme emotion, but I think you can excuse this.

First story sounds like my last relationship. Before him I was open and not monogamous, but I got with baby daddy and never cheated nor wanted to open it up, but he constantly accused me of cheating or wanting to open it up. The relationship quickly got abusive for me.
I think the first story needs more context. I think Sams perspective would have been good for that story bc there could be reasons why the bf has some insecurities in the relationship. (Though I completely agree with Sophia on the second story.. not Sam. Sometimes he has more reasonable takes though) Sure.. it’s annoying and he definitely needs to get over that. But I could see the insecurities coming from either personal issues and low self esteem, or it’s possible he’s insecure because of how he’s treated. Considering she wants to break up with him over a Tesla conversation?? Dear Lord.. I agree it isn’t working and they should break up. Only because it seems shes kind of looking for a reason to break up with him in my opinion. So nothing he does will probably change her mind. Which is fine. I had cancer as a child, I'm cured now and have been working closely with families of children with cancer for over 20 years now. The divorce rates and the amount of fathers that simply leave or check-out in astronomical. And this is their children! When it's the wife receiving the diagnosis, it's much worse. For some reason, the same doesn't happen the other way around. Women tend to stay - even if the marriage was rocky before.
Its also true that women are warned about this statistics, while being informed about everything else - obviously NOT at the moment of diagnosis, but later on, when discussing all the potential related issues (work, family, income, support network, etc.). It's a long process - even after being in remission, there's a standard 5 year monitoring period.
With the patient that had a serious issue, Sam they do tell you. Not cheat but leave. Your husband will leave you do you have a family member or other support system. Ive seen it and my close friend refused to tell her husband because he absolutely would. It became "too much effort, but she looks so hot now that she lost weight. Its too bad about her hair". Ugh. Leave that man
I’m with Sophia on the second story-that story is exactly why the ESH vote exists. He’s not the a-hole for wanting to get the divorce, but he is AN a-hole for not just ending it, and she sucks for bein’ a cheatin’ cheat. Both have a lot of personal development to do!

Breaking up over the trip doesn’t make her the AH because she already is. It would save him a lot of drama so NOT THE AH.
The first guy reminds me of my ex.. she needs to just leave now. Dudes like him will betray you to lesson the sting of insecurity, if you know what I mean. He has a degrading view of her already, and that’s a receipt for disaster. He thinks of her as a hoe who just wants to be with multiple partners and he’ll NEVER be able to let that go, and she will always be having to apologize for her past. It’s exhausting, and in the end she’ll be the one leaving with insecurities that he instilled within her.
I disagree because I was insecure at that age and probably acted very similar, but wirh age I am no longer insecure or jealous. I wouldn't say he can never change, I think they are just not compatible right now or ever 😂
