I owned a 2015 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 L RWD Ultimate Trim level sedan. While this vehicle preceded the spin-off of the Genesis and Equus vehicles (now the G80 and the G90), it was built in a fashion similar to the GV60. Although my Genesis (original name of the G80 only) was part of the then Hyundai lineup, service was extraordinary and build was incomparable. I could drive this car at over 100 mph and the cabin remained dead silent - ABSOLUTELY NO exterior noise. Also, the car was very nimble and, as my brother who is a car fanatic and adores German-manufactured vehicles (he has owned BMWs, MBZs, Audis, etc. and constantly drives new models of these vehicles) would say, ‘The Staff Car (nickname for my Genesis) drove as well as any German-made car’. In fact, he often asked if he could drive my car. My husband and I have been huge solar energy supporters for over 15 years with panels on our home generating most of our power needs. I cannot wait for the GV60 to make its appearance in the US - pricing was just announced yesterday with the fully-optioned highest end AWD model priced at US $68k. I don’t know if there will be extra ‘mark-ups’ (as are occurring now with dealerships charging a premium for new cars, including the IONIQ 5) if these vehicles will be subject to the Genesis experience. But, I believe that this will be my next car. If you have back problems, Hyundai and Genesis make some of the best seats available for you. Also, the leg room is always sufficient for 5 people, and I know exactly where I will be storing my handbag - in the mesh compartment under the center console, which I believe slides to two positions. BTW, there is an option for charging the GV60 via a drive-over mat, rather than a plug-in. This could prove very handy at home. Overall, a stunning car by a manufacturer who is winning all sorts of awards for engineering, safety, customer satisfaction, etc. Looking forward to seeing one of these beauties in person! Thank you for the brilliant video and, yes, I have subscribed to your channel!

Great review - so glad you reviewed the Entry level version too.
Other than 19” 20” or 21” alloys and corresponding design and the optional Sunroof and optional digital wing/door mirror all the range ( Premium, Sport and Sport plus) are identical externally. Obvious drive train is the major difference until you get to the Sport Plus when comfort packs are included.
Knowing this car comes from the same stable at the EV6 and Ioniq 5 meant the only question in my mind was where the handling and drive would sit?
I sat in that exact spec’d car at the Fully Charged UK Live show in Farnborough at the end of April.
What doesn’t come over in the video is just how luxurious the interior touch and feel is - it simply makes you go “wow” - it’s the napa leather and suede option- but it’s just elevates the car.
I ordered an EV6 AWD GTLineS November 2021 and delivery date has changed from March 2022 twice to June 2022 to now December 2022! I think the EV6 looks great but the touch and feel of that 52K car is the same as a 17K Kia Ceed!
The GV60 from the same stable just has that luxurious feel - may need to forgo the AWD for 2WD and 21” wheels for 19” to even try to stay close to the same budget. And will
need to spec a host of options to get the same tech as the EV6!
Some options do surpass the EV6 - for instance rear laminated windows, noise cancellation with B&O sound system upgrade and motorised reach and rake steering adjustment so included in memory settings.
To be noted vehicle to load has to be specified as an optional extra in this car!
Looking to get a test drive and that will be the deciding factor but encouraged by what you’ve said in this video.

Well for the handling of your E-GMP car Albert Biermann who headed BMW M-Sports for 30 years was responsible and at a track it drives accordingly sporty as you might recognize yourself if you owned such cars before like me. I on my side had for 54 years real ‚premium‘ and if you need kind of interior go for Genesis. If you like something new and different it‘s Kia or Hyundai. No way to compare with a Ceed, but sure they also are well made and designed compared to competition in their class. The EV6 is more convincing to me as a BMW i4, Audi e-Tron GT, Mercedes EQE or Mustang Mach-e and even Tesla.😅😎🇨🇭

Hyundai/Kia/Genesis appears to be the most innovative brand and the styling, quality, performance, warranty, features, technology will be difficult to ignore. The main issue is supply as they can't build these fast enough.

I have a 2021 Ioniq 38 and I caught the ventilated seat button when it was -6 outside and the car was cold. It certainly focuses the mind when you wonder why your thighs have suddenly gone cold.
But to the GV60, it looks good in white. The rotating drive selector is mad but something very different. As for buttons on the wheel I have got used to mine and they are fine. I drove a Tesla last summer and just could not get used to such an austere cabin.
I nearly leased an Enyaq but within a week it had gone from 3 months lead time to an estimated 10 months. I went for the Ioniq as it was in stock and ridiculously cheap. Will need to start looking for its replacement this summer as the lease is up next August.
Keep up the good work and I say that as a Lancastrian :)

It's good to hear that Genesis are bringing this model, plus the G80 electrified, to the UK and I'll be very interested to see if they bring out electric versions of their other models, especially the G70, which would suit my preference for a saloon car rather than SUV/crossover body style.
I drove Lexus cars for 15 years and the interior fit and finish of this, plus the Genesis customer service ambitions certainly seem to be in the same vein.

I currently have a model 3 performance and a model Y performance. I don’t see my self selling any of them in change for the sport pluss or what the name was. The reason is that the model 3 performance I got have a lot of upgrades in suspension and breaking makes it a absolutely super cool car driving hard on backroads. The model y performance got the space for a family with a dog and a lot of baggage and it’s fast and it got a very good tuned suspension. But this car is absolutely a winner for a lot of people.

Got to admit the more I look at there the more tempted I am. Dropped from two cars to one, losing my big Lexus and keeping the Zoe50 as I just do not much driving any more, though when I do it is 200 miles each way. Was waiting for the 'MY23' of the Ioniq 5 to become orderable, with the larger battery and pano roof, however specking up the Premium GV60 (was going for RWD I5) the Genesis does end up cheaper with a better interior, and if they can match the Lexus experience (build quality and finish more than the high quality service) then I may become rather tempted. Believe 5 years of servicing is also included in the price (probably the equivalent to ~£2-4k).
Now to try and find out what the colours actually do look like in the real world and which colours are pearl.

Nice car, the steering wheel is a bit too busy, but the future is EV and this car for me ticks lots of boxes. The car design looks the part and also pegs itself in the premium market. For me, I will stick with my Model Y order as it’s the same price when you include all the same toys that the standard Model Y comes with, e.g. autopilot, phat stereo, wing motor cameras, performance etc. And you get a much bigger boot in the Y, but no power out plug which still mystifies me. The only downside with a Tesla imho is the order leadtime. I’m definitely going to give this car a test drive though as I may change my mind 😁.

I am liking this vehicle more and more with almost every review I see. I actually have a Tesla MYP on order that is scheduled to be delivered by the end of this month. That said, with no driver's display and no Apple CarPlay (and the fact that I can not stand Elon Musk) I am seriously thinking about refusing the delivery in favor of the GV60... I am almost certain this is the way I am going to go. The only thing that worries me is resale value. I do not like to own a car more than 3-4 years. I know that the Tesla holds its value very well, but Genesis is way to new to know what the resale value of this car is going to be a few years down the line, especially given is range. Great video, by the way!

I cancelled my Model Y order after driving the GV60. Hands down more comfortable and quiet than the Tesla. Once you sit and drive the GV60, I’m sure you will be convinced! I believe Genesis will be able to survive and be equivalent to what Lexus has accomplished! At least in the EV world! I love my GV60 Performance model! It’s really more car than I need…but it sure is very fun and enjoyable to drive!

KIA and Hyundai are making progress, but they still have a way to go. One of the Atlanta Hyundai/Genesis dealers has a GV60 in transit, top of the line trim, 310 mile estimated range, an anemic 350 HP, and a selling price higher than the Tesla Model Y Long Range I have on order (not counting the tax credit).

My biggest concern about an electric car has always been range. However given our travel plans (local school runs with the very occasional drive to the coast every couple months) this probably really isnt that much of an issue. BUUUUT this concern has been over taken by technology advance! Lease a vehicle for 4 years and think how much technology will (hopefully) advance over that time...especially around distance and recharging times! Almost feels like being lumped with a piece of coal after a year or so! ps. My Premium GV60 is due for delivery on or about 5 December. Its just not known which year! ;)

Thanks for the thoughtful and illuminating review. I quite like what I see of this EV.
I'm in a market where Genesis is pretty well established as a low volume luxury brand. You see them around, but they're not nearly as common as the German or Japanese luxury brands. All the same, if the electric G80 is similarly done in terms of the GV60's interface, I could see it being one of a very small number of vehicles on my parents' short list when it comes time to replace their car. They're definitely more on the side of wanting something comfortably familiar, so they don't like all of this mostly touch control business that even Lexus and Mercedes-Benz seem to be moving to, and they also are pretty committed to sedan driving - they want something where opening the trunk doesn't ventilate the passenger compartment (cold climate), and they're looking for an EV, so that looks like a very small list of candidates. Likely it won't be for a couple of years; their car is from 2013, so aside from a bit of trouble with weather-stripping and some panel rust here and there, it is in reasonably good shape, but it's good to know that there are going to be viable options.

    Great stuff as always, thanks!
    Initial concern:
Is this a press car? Just wondering because I get leery of testing those vs actual ones you get off the lot. They often come off their own factory lines and may even use their own parts bins, sometimes not even the same material is used.
    My impressions:
    - Front look ok, I like the lights, not a fan of the bottom half with the grill arrangement.
    - Back looks better, but not a fan of the fake exhaust thing either.
    - Internals are ok, too much button clutter, and the gearbox thing is wasted real estate, should just be a stalk to free up space for more storage.
    - Very much like the glove box design.
    - I like the back, side cup holders are a nice touch and i very much like the storage basket thing they got going on there.
    - Trunk space is not great but will do the job yes. Would be a consideration when cross-shopping though.
    - Some cases of form over function here and there, it's take it or leave it on those for me.
    - Does it have a frunk and how big is it if so?
    Alternatives:
    - I'd take this over the ID.x and Mach-e perhaps.
    - I like the Ioniq though, so would be a tossup, this is like a step up in many ways but I just don't like clutter and the Ioniq is cleaner in that department.
    - I'd still take a Tesla over this one due to Tesla's clean internals, best UI and the charging infrastructure. I also prefer the glass roofs from both looks and safety angles. This Genesis is pretty good but still feels like a nice "Blackberry" EV in the iPhone age.
    - I'd take this over the more expensive Audi/Mercedes EVs to be honest, the Genesis has some cute legacy bells and whistles but does not come off as either too old-school or pretentious/patronizing imho. Seems to be in a good sweet spot for a legacy design.
    Suggestions:
Dump the button clutter, improve the center storage arrangement and beef up the UI some more and it'll be a winner on internals.
    Conclusion:
Overall a good car it seems, would easily take it over an ICE alternative, so mission accomplished. Now they just need to make them in higher volume.

I also saw at Fully Charged Live and for me it was the best looking car there. The staff on the stand were mostly rubbish except for one guy who knew his stuff. The interior of the car is class leading and I think this car will hold its price. It’s definitely a premium car and compared to the Tesla Y it looks well put together and feels premium and well put together. The only thing that puts me off buying this car is at the moment no dealership

    • @Antiguan_Dart
      @Antiguan_Dart 2 года назад

The “Premium” at £47K is a 2WD 229 PS variant this entry model is a very pared back version of the top spec reviewed model - the luxurious feel comes from the Napa and suede interior option, the sunroof and B&O system options- just three of the many upgrade options. Comfort pack, 2nd row comfort pack, innovation pack, Outdoor pack and Digital mirror pack are other major options available! The price mounts up quite quickly when looking to spec the GV60 to something comparable to the Kia GTLineS EV6 or the level of equipment outlined in the GV60 AWD 490 PS version.
My budget for the AWD Kia EV6 GTLine w/ heat pump is blown when trying to get the same features on the GV60 even with forgoing AWD and 21” wheels!
