When I was talking about the difficulty of adjusting the mirrors in the Tesla, I was unaware of the fact you could do a voice command to bring that menu up letting you adjust it without moving your hands. My bad! Happy New Year!

I use voice controls for at least half of my normal functions in my Model 3. I'm going to replace it with a GV 60 or Polestar 2, though. The tech is great, but the suspension and noise are big negatives.

I chose the GV60 Advanced (not performance) over the Model Y for these reasons: Head up display, luxury interior, quiet cabin, buttons, manual air vent controls, V2L/V2H, ventilated seats, motorized sunroof shade, Apple Carplay/Android Auto (I love using Waze). I also wanted a smaller vehicle and GV60 is only 177.8". However, the Model Y is currently much cheaper if you're on a budget.

I've had my GV60 Performance for 8 months. I test-drove the Model 3 & Y Performance. I preferred the driving dynamics of the Teslas but the interior quality and creature features of the GV60 won out. The dealership also gave me an upfront discount of $2,000 plus the $7,500 tax credit (which it did not qualify for) off the MSRP on a lease and 3 free years of charging at EA. EA is a bit of a nightmare, I'll admit.

Smart to do a lease on that. Solid deal. It's smaller than a Y but has Model S/X build quality

The genesis has security cameras, you can take a picture at any time. It has geofence, alert if car is started outside of your home. Also, the car has a look ahead radar that adjusts the suspension to the road and that significantly improves the ride.

I bought my 2023 Model Y May 29th and have already put 15,000 miles and love the car along with their integrated charging network. I had a 21 Kona EV which was a great car but not if you wanted to take road trips.. anyways not to ramble on, getting to your comment about the software updates making the car better is so true. I took the opportunity to have the zoom meeting for new Tesla owners to talk to engineers and learn more about the cars. During that meeting I mentioned to the engineers that I was very surprised in a car so full of technology the headlights did not come on automatically when wipers were needed. Every car I have owned with automatic wipers always turned on the headlights when wipers were needed. To my surprise a couple of updates later that feature was added to all Teslas. I thought that was so cool, I can’t say for sure it was my suggestion but I am glad they added it. And the features keep coming with their software updates which is a real benefit to owning a Tesla.

    • @Antiguan_Dart
      @Antiguan_Dart 6 месяцев назад

The GV60 also benefits from OTA updates enhancing features as time goes on. Regarding wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto it seems this is simply a licensing issue indeed the firmware for it is visible in the technician menus. So hopefully we’ll get that soon.

I own a gv60 and love it to bits. It charges at home, so it running costs are really low. I bought it for the luxury, and because it’s 360kw. Also, free servicing, free home charger and concierge service really makes me feel spoilt. Tesla got ruled out because no HUD and no speedo in my line of sight. To me, tesla feels like they try to tell you that less features is a good thing and thats not for me. I agree wireless apple car play would be great(the 2024 models have it). HOWEVER, its worth remembering that genesis has augmented reality navigation, which i love, and apple doesn’t

I know people will say they watch it on their phones but does your phones have screens this big and sound systems this good? Nope. The experience is not comparable. A year later, when Tesla prices were at an all time high, instead of going for the Genesis GV60 performance, I bought a Tesla Model 3 Performance for myself for about $65,000.
I don't understand why people even care about Apple CarPlay/Android Auto when Tesla's built-in infotainment software is superior and makes far more sense.
I guess that is why other companies are focusing more on software now. Rivian and Lucid have comparable systems to Tesla. Additionally, Android Automotive is looking great as a built-in infotainment system on Polestar and GM vehicles.

Hyndai/kia is not off to a good start in NA with battery warranty issues, at least as far as the narrative is concerned. Maybe that will change - but thats a big risk. I really like being able to close the sunroof and wish Tesla would add this to their cars. The major thing that gives me pause on this vehicle is Hyundai and dealership service, utility space, DC fast charging network, software. Other than that 😅 if Tesla could improve on interior quality that compares to the quality of the Genesis that would be awesome. Yes i know the Highland is coming but even that still doesn't compare to this interior quality, i don't mind minimalist interiors but i wouldn't mind something more luxurious looking, just my opinion. I cross shopped the Model Y. The superior interior quality and comfort was the decided factor for me. And the glass roof got an absolute veto from the wife who doesn’t want any sun on the children’s faces.
Currently I have no need for dc fast charging at all, as I charge at home and the car is used for in city driving exclusively.
Our second car is a Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrid, and that is the car we use for road trips.
Well probably replace it eventually with a pure EV once the average ranges go up and bit and everyone rolls out their NACS models.
We may even get a Model Y, with its incredible interior space, if I can convince the wife that after market sunshades will be adequate.

They have 70 year old men designing these cars. Genesis is a brand that I’m almost interested in. Just doesn’t have any youthful qualities to it’s design.

It's funny because I'm 42 and it looks like a kids' car to me.

More traditional gear selector, diamond stitching, seems more mature. Tesla seems youthful to me, so different from most of the market.

It’d be interesting to touch on the service side as well in the reviews. Would love to hear how the servicing at the dealership for the genesis is. I’m sure you rarely have to take it in and I’m sure their service center is miles better than Tesla lol.

It's not as good as Tesla is yet because not every dealer can service their EV's. I can't really go into it because I don't own one

The Genesis does not support over-the-air updates so the car has to go to the dealer for software updates. "I bought a new GV60 in November of last year. Two weeks ago my car came up for its 5000 mile service and two recalls (rear drive shaft and ICCU). My experience of trying to get service was so frustrating I'm considering selling the car now because I have no trust in it." - based on this review of Genesis service, it does not sound good.

I love Tesla powertrains and Supercharger Network but can't stand their Retarded interiors. Once Genesis and other premium brands can use the Supercharger Network it is a no-brainer decision. And their are no CCS 250 kW DC fast chargers Only 150 kw or 350 kW. So in order to charge at 250 kW(235 really) you need to plug into a 350 kW charger.

Génesis a well made though out EV and then the glorified go cart. Only real benefit of the glorified go cart is the charging system at this point lol
