    The Kia EV6 has won just about every group test and comparison going. We love it and judging by Kia’s order books, you’re every bit as impressed with the EV6 as we are. But is it still the car to choose? Genesis - Kia and Hyundai’s posher and more premium stablemate - has introduced a new challenger in the form of the GV60. It’s got the same mechanical bits and bobs as the EV6 but introduces a bold new look, a flashier interior and a higher price tag.
    But is newer better? Join Ginny and Nicki as they pitch both back to back to discover which is the better buy. Would you rather have the sportier looks and lower price tag of the Kia or the fancier cabin and more exclusive appeal of the Genesis? Let us know in the comments below.

    GV60 vs EV6. I really like both these cars. Decided to put my money on the GV60. The GV60: more comfortable, quieter, much better looking. With the tow bar, I can take my mountain bike where ever I want. The driver feed back, is not an issue. I do believe with battery’s in the floor keeps both cars very stable. GV60 with pot hole detection and better seats, super quiet, for me the choice is obvious. I know choice is personal and I was prepared to pay a bit more. I believe both cars have a great sound system. But I absolutely loved the Bang & Olufsen in the Genesis. Truthfully the EV6 has some things over the GV60. However, it was the stuff the GV60 has over the EV6 that got me over the line. Finally, the GV60 is sexier.

    Had the GV60 since December 1 and it is, quite simply, amazing, intuitive, sharp, and performs very well. Love the shape and style as well. I have Moana red, and it is amazing. Turns heads every time I drive it. Interior is roomy and functional. 5 stars

    I have the GV 60 and I love the car , I also like the shape over the EV 6 the rear end looks very odd to me , for me they are both so different its not apples to apples EV 6 vs the Ioniq 5 yes i can see that but the GV 60 is a big step ahead in many ways , you both complained about too much stuff on the screens with apps and things you dont have to use them but they are there is you want , I have turned off all my driver aids . I drive my car most of the time in the comfort mode rarely use the sport mode so my range is very good 300+ miles per charge . I live in Canada and my seats are the quilted nappa leather not pleather. The crystal ball is good because the car is very very quiet when you see the ball you know you are not in drive , it does also say ready on the dash when you can drive but ball does catch you eye first. I have had my car now for 6 weeks I have done long trips with 4 people everyone was very happy with the seats and the ride the rear seat recline which gives the people in the rear a nice ride . I agree the price is maybe a little high and I have the Ioniq 5 on order for almost a year and still no change in getting that car until Sept 2023 a GV 60 came up so I grabbed it and I am 100% happy with the car. Thank you ladies for the video.

      Well, here we are a year on. I also have a GV60, and it's been great. The only thing I don't like is having to plug my phone in for Android autoplay - i simply do not use it because of this inconvenience (but would if it was wireless). It is just so inconvenient, as I can't use any voice commands without plugging in the phone. Many times I have wanted to just enter an address by speaking it so as to see what the traffic is like up ahead, but I can't touch my phone as I am driving. Genesis, please fix this!
      Otherwise, the car is still very fun to drive, whisper quiet, great at acceleration (I still use the booster button), and very comfortable. Above all, it costs nothing to run due to the free solar power coming from my roof. As for the looks, I still think it looks great, and I still get plenty of positive comments about the car. as with you, the price was high, but i can see where the money was spent.

    EV6 for me, but I am very biased as I have the AWD GT s line.
    I very rarely use sport mode, only to show off to my mates, for me anything around 7 secs to 60 mph is more than adequate, but yes I know it is the headline figure that sells. I also prefer the EV6 styling and the price advantage.
    I have had mine a year now and 10,000 miles and love it, it is the best car I have ever owned.
    Charging at an ultra rapid Ionity or Fastned is amazing seeing over 200 Kw charge rate.

  • @Alberto-mq7gw
    @Alberto-mq7gw Год назад +22

    GV60 is smaller outside, which I prefer. If you match the specs the price difference is very small. For a bit more you do get quite a bit more from the Genesis (from better soundproofing to better headlights, OTA updates, option to spec adaptive dampers that should offer clearly better ride when on the same wheels, while having the option to stiffen them when desired...). I like having buttons too. The interior is indeed trying too hard to look luxurious while not really being so, but the overall quality should still be objectively superior in places to the Kia (if not by much, which is what it pretends).
    I don't know which one I'd choose if I were to buy one, but I think this video was not too helpful in telling the viewers the strengths and weakness of each.

    • @Lollakuk
      @Lollakuk Год назад

      I agree. Not that good video.

    • @devongee1776
      @devongee1776 Год назад +1

      Consider that those things are all miniscule in their overall experience for the owner. For one, the Kia EV6 DOES do OTA updates, at least in my country, additional sound proofing might be nice but the EV6 isn't a loud car by any means so without legit equipment it might be hard to notate the difference to the naked ear if said difference really isn't as significant as Genesis might prefer you believe. The EV6 GT has fully adaptive suspension and that car per their numbers still costs less than the GV60 they were testing despite having almost 100 more horsepower.
      You can hold your trophy on better headlights. That's certainly more likely especially if you live in the USA like me where we didn't get the Matrix LED headlights. They however, do. So assuming Kia did a good job with them I don't see how they'd be a bad headlight. They swivel during low speed turning and they're auto leveling so yeah... they should be all you need. Key word should.
      Having buttons isn't a benefit or a drawback. The Kia doesn't NOT have all of these controls. They're just different in orientation and so you can shop for your preference but that wouldn't make one car better than the other either.

    I like the GV60 but in May I got my ‚basic‘ EV6 77,4 kWh AWD with ‚full house‘ and it looks marvelous and reminds former Lancia and Jaguar E-Type. The GV60 is more for the ladies and a little more luxurious but I like the more pragmatic KIA. Only we have a dog and would prefer less plastic in the trunk. We will however correct this on our own with carpeting made to measure.😎🇨🇭🤫

    Spot on ladies. I don’t get the GV60 in all honesty. I think it more appeals for the North American market. Of course I am biased as I have a EV6 GT line S AWD, bit a lot if friends don’t lime the GV60 styling and it is a bit chintzy . I have actually I have clocked the 0-60 at 4.5secs, as have many others, just look at You Tube to see how quick it is and easily a licence loser without noticing it. Which to me is easily fast enough and at those lights not a lot in reality matches it in the real world. Plus if you want bonkers fast then there is the GT and at considerably less than the sports plus GV60 then it’s a no brainer. But with my neutral head on I think you summed it up perfectly. Looks, ride and over all feel. Plus you save a load of money. 👍

      Good joice! Have my EV6 AWD with ‚full house‘ since may 2022 and driven the car 9‘000 km with an average of 16,8 kWh/100 km or about 1,4 Liters Diesel equivalent. In 54 years ‚premium‘ brands with high TCO this is my ‚cheapest‘ car so far. Just a chance to winter wheels so far. A little more M-BMW than the GV60 of a friend of mine with a sport plus. My next even need not to be the GT and I only miss my former glass roof. The EV6 is more the reduced ecostyle and the Genesis more old school luxury but made up with care by both brands. The Ioniq 5 is in between for me. But Hyundai Group has real choices and not only different badges, I saw the Ioniq 6 besides a Taycan and was totally impressed. As an N-Version this would also be a next option. Anyhow they got the best balance in design, price and technology just after too purist Tesla. P.S. in 54 years I never had an Asian car but was once importing early Honda.😢

    We have recently test driven several electric cars and the EV6 was the winner, until we tried the GV60. It really is the better car despite this review which concludes the opposite.
    The GV60’s design and build is of a better quality than the EV6. In comparison, the EV6 feels cheaper and more plasticky. I was somewhat amused by the description of the GV60 being blingy, we never felt that was the case.
    As for the drive, the GV60 was a much better feel - and I would argue a drivers car. We never experienced this pulling to the left - maybe the reviewer wasn't concentrating particular well!
    This review felt like a decision has already been made before they ever started. In our opinion, the GV60 wins on most fronts and is actually worth the extra money. But we are not going for the over priced Sport Plus, but sticking with the Premium and adding the Innovation pack to it.
    One last comment about the EV6 - it only comes in 4 colours and no options on interior - we found it was rather dark, not our thing. GV60 has a nice range of colours and some alternative interiors. So, good for making your car a little different.

    I'm not a fan of the EV6's DRL. Also when I look at it from the front, the front wheels seem a little inboard and it reminds me of my first car which was a 71 Zephyr which had the same look albeit with very skinny remould tyres which were very inboard. Being a Soul owner I like quirky looking cars but for some reason the EV6 reminds me of my first car and if had to pick between the two I would have the Genesis, despite being much more expensive.

    So what is the argument for the GV60 over the EV6?! Can I have a go?..
    The interiors of both the EV6 and Ioniq5 as nice as they are don’t have the quality feel commensurate with the £40K+ that they cost!
    In the UK you can get a RWD GV60 version called the “Premium” no boost mode but with all the options that amazing quality feel is there and for only £6K more than the Kia GTLineS AWD!
    I first saw The Genesis GV60 at the Fully Charged UK live 2022 show (end of April) and the quality interior just makes you go “wow”!
    Alas that extra level of luxury simply isn’t an option on the EV6 unless it’s the suede option on the GT version and then you lose the sunroof, memory and relaxation seats!
    The GV60 doesn’t have a moving centre console, nor sliding adjustable rear seats, nor the ability to collapse the rear seats from the boot nor a below boot floor stow-able parcel shelf (it is retractable) and has less boot space than either of its cousins. Its slightly shorter length makes for easier parking especially in UK tight parking spaces and multi-storey car parks.
    But with all the options selected you get the following above and beyond the EV6 or Ioniq5;
    A mind blowing Napa leather and Suede luxury interior ( different colour combinations available), luxurious feeling quality switch gear (if it looks like metal it is metal), Sat Nav charger destination battery pre-conditioning, OTA updates of virtually all computer systems, an updated more contemporary looking and functioning infotainment interface, heat-pump, rear laminated glass, B&O sound system with noise cancellation technology, finger print recognition, driver memory functions which include steering wheel position settings ( as has powered reach and rake steering wheel), 5 years road side assist, 5 years servicing and 5 years loyalty scheme discount to a rapid charger supplier!
    GV60 rear seats also do recline considerably and you get the rear window blinds like on the ioniq5.
    The GV60 also gets a panoramic glass roof with power shade which size wise is between that of the massive sized one in the Ioniq5 and the opening but smaller sunroof of the EV6.
    The 4WD versions -The Sport and top of the line Sport Plus (with drift mode and boost) do offer great performance which is paid for by range and I think that is also a compromise of the Kia EV6 GTline(S) AWD and Kia EV6 GT and top AWD trims of the Ioniq5 - but it’s an option.
    Such a choice from this Korean stable you pays your money and makes your choice for styling and feature variations.
    I almost wish I could get a mash of the three.
    But ultimately I reserved mine at the show and took receipt of it end of June.
    There’s great choice in the EV market at the moment and individual preferences, needs and budgets obviously influences choice-but if comfort rather than blistering performance is on your wish list -then as a long range (WLTP 321 miles), quick charging (800 V architecture and 239Kw peak rate), comfortable, well equipped, compact SUV - I’d argue it’s a very compelling option.

    In the US this comparsion is with a $59K EV6 GT-line AWD and a $70K GV60 Performance. $11K is a big price difference. If you don't need the speed or more luxury items then the EV6 all the way. To me both cars are nice but the GV60 back is more ugly imo. The rear of the EV6 was ugly to me at first too but after seeing it more in person it isn't so bad but the GV60 back in person is still ugly to me. Both interiors are nice but the GV60 is better as it uses higher grade material. Do keep in mind that the EV6 has more room on the inside tho. The EV60 does have real nappa leather which I do love but could be negative for some due to the wear and tear of real leather. Also the back of the GV60 has a split window design similar to the 1st gen Purius. I'm not a fan of that at all whatsoever. They should've provided a digital rear mirror imo. I believe the 0-60mph in the GT-line AWD is 4.3 seconds and not 5.3 as maybe that's the RWD model.
    Is it worth the upgrade to get the GV60? I would say yes if you like everything about the GV60 but if the EV6 works for you then save your money honestly. If it was for me for $70K I would rather spend a little more to get the E GV70 Prestige instead at $75K. Bigger car with even better things in it like an opening pano roof vs a fixed smaller pano in the GV60. The EV6 has an opening sunroof as well even tho it's not a pano one but I would rather have that then a fixed pano one in the GV60. So for me it would be the EV6 GT-line overall.
    Luckily for me I just recently picked up an EV6 GT and love it! I really wanted the E GV70 but I couldn't justify the $12K price difference between them. The GT is lots of fun to drive while the E GV70 would've been a nice luxury car with some fun. Similar sizes but just in a different form factor. After everything is all said and done the price difference was even larger if you consider all the discount and rebates. I would say it's around a $15K price difference if anything.

    The Ev6 is oppressively dark due to the black headlining (which you can't change), is very low down, and is not practical for 5 people. Boot space is compromised by heavy raking on rear screen. It's style over substance. It's a drivers car sure, just like the Polestar 2 is (in fact their very similar inside from a driving experience)... But not practical as a family car.

    The face recognition and fingerprint sensor take the cake, GV60 all the way! I love the way the Genesis looks. KIA looks great too, but in the red, it mimics a Lamborghini instead of something unique.

    Surely, the first thing which you should have stated is how the Hyundai Group is positioning the 3 brands. You have the option to customize the interior of the GV60. Kia UK says you can have any colour interior and long as it has black combined with it. 🙄🙄. Genesis is not different than Lexus to Toyota in that regards

    A lot of great reasons, but since I won't have 6-footers in the back often, only my petite daughters, the Genesis is a better choice for me as it's a luxury sports car that can still be the family hauler.

    I disagree, the GV60 has more head room, quieter interior, nicer Info system, more acceleration, far better project headlights then the reflective EV6 headlights, just win win in my opinion.

    Well I had a hour test drive in the GV60 today , I was wowed by it, design I think is way better than the Kia, super impressed with how quite the ride is with the noise cancelling feature, power …well hang on it’s insane, I drive a 6.2 SS Commadore here in Australia with 420HP V8 and they just can’t be compared, getting back into it was blahhhhh, so updating for my wife who drowned her C250 Merc in a flash flood Kia wasn’t even on my Radar, didn’t like the shape, but after watching this, I’d be mad not to check it out, I did walkout off the Genesis show room thinking that’s going to be hard to beat.

    I have seen both these cars at a Fully Charged Event and GV60 was stunning. I was really disappointed in the Kia because I expecting a lot but was let down in its black cheap looking plastic (which your car didn’t seem to have). At that Fully Charged event there was people at the Genesis stand than the Kia stand. Plus I organised a test run at my local Kia garage with the Kia and this was confirmed with Kia by them sending a reminder text but when I went to the local dealer they knew nothing about it and refused to take out in one because it was too late in the day (4.00pm on a Friday and didn’t close until 5.00pm) they were just downright rude and for that I am just not interested in the car. I complained to Kia about their poor customer service but heard nothing back. So guys I don’t agree with your assessment of the Genesis it is a lovely car but I do like this RUclips channel very much

    This is the car park at our office lol. I have the EV6 colleague has the GV60. Not a fan of the GV60 styling or the interior. To me it looks like Merc back end and the badge looks like an Aston rip off. The lightning accent rear quarter looks odd too. Horses for courses and just my opinion at the end of the day.

    GV60 - what is the point? Re the EV6, the more I see it on the road the less I like the look of it. I followed a white EV6 home yesterday and from the rear it just looks plain lardy. I know asthetics are subjective but for me the Ioniq 5 is the best looking of the Hyundai siblings and I think the styling will stand the test of time unlike the other two.

    Genesis definitely offers something different here, and - for maybe 5% - that’ll be enough. The other 95% however will buy EV6, cus why would you pay nearly £10k more for (in most cases) the same product just presented a little posher!

    GV60 for me all day long. Never a fan of the EV6 at all. Didn’t feel it got a fair appraisal. Both ladies disliked it, on of them should have been paired with someone who really liked the GV60, that would have been much better for the neutrals.

    Without doubt it would be an EV6 GT rather than the more expensive GV60 Sport Plus. However, all are irrelevant as you can not walk into a showroom and buy one!! As Hyundai, KIA & Genesis have not ramped up production to meet the massive demand.
