Def Leppard’s first three albums: On Through the Night, High N’ Dry and Pyromania are pure gems. Amazing aggressive rock, great production and unbelievable melody.
Couldn't agree with you more. The ON THROUGH THE NIGHT is my number overall choice.of the top 3 aforementioned albums. Funny though, after seeing them in concert, they never played one song from that album. Its a powerful album from start to finish. Rock Brigade is an Awesome song!!
I completely agree with that. Pyromania was my introduction to Def Leppard in grade school. Then Hysteria in High School, then I picked up High n'Dry on cassette lol. Then through their Greatest Hits double cd sets I started getting into On Through the Night. The first 4 to me were the best.
On through the night. "Wasted" the main riff. And high N dry. The whole album basically inspired me to really start practicing. I thought Steve and Pete were the dynamic duo come to life. My first band 15 yrs old.., we had the other gtr player's parents beach house for a weekend and 'On through the night' was playing non stop. Still one of my fondest memories to this day and im 57 now with many other experiences and memories. The adrenaline we all got off their music was, for 5 15 year olds ...first band, the excitement was unmatched and no parents to tamp it down lol We played about 6 DL covers. Made me get serious about playing so they actually changed my life. The older albums pyro on was for the radio. Nothing like the first ever and I'd say about half of pyromamia. 'Mirror Miror. Sorry for the novel 🙄 Thank you for your service Marine.
Caught Def Lep in early '83 and they absolutely owned that stage. My first concert spoiled me rotten! and they were the opening act for Billy Squire. Tough act to follow for sure.
@@ponzo1967 That's Awesome! I first saw DL in 1980 as they were the opening band for, Pat Travers Band. Since that night, I was hooked. Also, when I did see them again in, '81, again DL was the opening band for, Black Foot, but I didn't go for Black Foot, I went for DL!!! 😁
@@swind2492 I'm not sure people who saw them later in their career realize what a kick ass rock and roll band they were back then. I went on to see some great shows after Leppard but they set the bar pretty high. I still love the sound of the High N Dry album
Goddamn I love this song. Imagine if Def Leppard continued writing songs like this. They would be in the same realm as AC/DC as the greatest of all time
Their first 2 albums were great. Pyromania had it's moments but gave up on them totally after that. American, soulless and tedious radio friendly slush.
Used to spend all my time in my room jammin albums on my grandma’s old wooden stereo the thing was a beast but great sound. With my drum set right next to it and play along with def leppard
Same except guitar. Put my amp on top of it. It was a TV table from the early 70s... 5 feet long lol. Turntable and Great speakers . Heavy wood. The sound vibrated out of the thing lol. It was an amp cabinet and I had it pumping. lol. Ah the memories

seen the 1983 pyromania tour the one in Union Jack British flag shirt apr13 1983, don't think this was part of the setlist but still have ticket stub its a billy squire ticket (tour history shows billy squire ticket) even then Def Leppard were just catching on, they encored this song but photograph was just as the video and it was kick assed and my favorite concert out of many seen but thanks I love this.

That was beautiful. He inspired me so much learning guitar. A great but tortured man. Never shown love when he was a boy. It definitely affects you. I know because I lived it. RIP my brother in spirit and melody.
Ok first time seeing this video...I'm seeing 6 or 7 different guys on stage. 2 videos mixed into one video? I see Joe and a guy in a vest? Joe or Pete or ? And the intro solo is dual intro...I know the lick but who?... Steve or Pete . Both? Guitarists and vocalists are appearing and disappearing in this vid. And I'm not smoking anything . Anybody explain this.? Tony Kenning .. Rick Allen.. The Thin Lizzy connection happening. No. Its the studio audio and live footage from 2 shows cut in. I saw Phil Collen once. Hes a good player but that was Pete's song. The main riff....i believe. they are all credited
It"s a real shame that they dubbed over this video with the studio recorded version. It would be interesting to hear this in it's raw form. Very sad! Same on you Def Leppard!!
Back when def Leppard were a real rock n roll band! Steve and Pete were 2 penominal guitarists after Pete was fired they just didn't have that hard rock rawness anymore, mutt over polished them and made them into a pop rock band👎I quit listening to them after Pyromania

Thank you to put pyro too in that list. I can't understand people don't putting pyromania as an amazing album too.
Agreed. I like "Hysteria" a lot but I agree that is when they sort of hit a different sound from just pure rock.

Lep was a hard rocking band at this stage, the entire High N Dry album still sounds amazing 🎸🎶
Blasted the High n Dry cassette on my Sony Walkman while walking through Hong Kong in '82 as a young U.S. Marine. This song was one of my faves.

You are so correct. I couldn't stand any of their music after Pyromania.
Steve Clark and Pete Willis were a phenomenal Duo. Pete Will had a big part of their first 3 albums.

Pete willis and steve clark...best lep guitar line up
There's that voice I've come to know and love till this day. Great performance! Def Leppard forever!❣️😘
...shows why def leppard was the best and hell of a heavy metal band in the early eighties!
Def Leppard's Heavy Metal Sound is My Favorite of Their Music! Seen Them Several Times and had the Honor of meeting Them. Epic Gentlemen! \m/ \m/
Lost this Def Leppard somewhere in Hysteria. They will always be one of that time period’s best.
One of the highlights of an amazing record. Love the Lizzy vibe on this tune.
Old Leppard is so good
