Agreed. This intro has stuck with me since I played the game and I always come back and watch it every few months. Perfect mix of imagery and music to set the stage for an amazing experience.
Agreed. This was epic, still remember it even 8 years later picking the game back up for the first time since then. It was stunning. Makes me want to cry Everytime I watch it.
Yes, it needs to be on all platforms. The only things I would change is I need more character customization settings, I prefer to have a more hands on battle where I control every action including where they move and all that, and a slightly more open world like elder scrolls. Other than that, it’s perfect.
I will always remember this scene. Got two separate game cards, so I could play the game twice. That's how much I was in love with it. Such a beautiful game, with an amazing story, music, characters and gameplay mechanics. This scene hurts my heart every time.
First time I played this game I was what? 6? I got a new cartridge at 17 just to play it all over again because that game never left my mind and has forever been my favorite!
Dragon quest 9... where do I even start? The score, top tier. The plot, heart wrenching at times. The characters, OH MAN THE CHARACTERS! Getting to make your own team, worrying about them and caring for them more than just generic protagonist number seventeen. This game is one of the few games I can go back to year after year and still fall in love with playing it
I first played this years ago and now as a fully grown adult bored to death in quarantine, I still love it. It has a special place in my heart that can never be replaced
This is the one game that give me more feels than any other. I just pulled it out and restarted the story and when I saw this cutscene I said to myself “I’m gonna have to look this up and watch it a few times and cry over and over.” Thank you
Started playing Dragon Quest to the stars, saw the recap of this game and had to come back for the cut scenes. Freaking loved the game, it's still one of my favourite and most played games even now.
i remember when i first got this game (Christmas morning) i had a panic attack when the starflight express flew down and it became bigger when my character flew down
Ah yeah this game where I spent hours hunting for metal slime inside the tomb just to beat the contagion jar boss or the triple metal slime inside the cave about the doll arc.
An amazing game. The only thing I would change would be to have standard party members like you do in the other games. While the variety in being able to change their classes and appearance is nice in this game, they're only there to help you in fights and there's zero interaction and personality with them. I'd have loved to have seen the party's reactions to things, like finding out your player is a Celestrian.
MasterPigeonXD I'm not entirely sure but, if I could explain, I would give what I think happens. Since the playable character is a new guardian to Angel Falls, I believe that the character, being the light, nimble and young character he/she is (I'm going with she), is lifted by the intense force of the purple energy of light, as if sucking her in, thus resulting in the character being thrown overboard, as it were, and tumbling downward to the Protectorate below andlosing her wings in the process. By the way, I adore this prologue. It is absolutely beautiful.
AriochStarr Thanks for the input buddy. I guess that makes sense but the feathers leave me suspicious. I have to agree with you on the prologue, it's absolutely stunning for a DS game. That and the one with Greygnarl.
EverestBlizzard Could be. But looking back at this scene again, that beam may have destroyed his Halo as well; why else is he now visible to humans? Was that beam trying to cripple _all_ Celestrians, or just him specifically? Square Enix sure are vague in their FMVs…
He fell by accident and didn't used the portal to go to the human world. Im pretty sure there's a reason or law that makes them require the portal to travel... Maybe by not following that process he lost his rights as guardian?
For a DS game this cutscene was pretty freaking incredible
was looking for this, one of the best intros in gaming

Nothin but facts😣😣💯💯💯💯💯

i was actually holding my breath and about to cry rewatching this scene. I want this to be remade for Switch and or getting an anime adaption.

You are not the only one brother/sister
I just let myself go and cry
That sounds fucking awful
Same
god what a masterpiece of a game, so criminally underrated only because you don’t get the basic party members you get in every other game.
The introduction gives you the members I like the system where you can make the from scratch though
You actually get to create and name your own party members. They dont have a story but the game's story itself is good enough.
One of the best intros in the history of videogames
BGM to this cut scene is quite short, but amazing. Awesome and beautiful.

+SMT Artshow I mean, he has 20 hp and maybe loses 1/2 hp a fight
@@no.4613 I'm done😂😂😂
This. This made me laugh SO HARD!!! I kid you not I’m crying
I love dragon quest 9 and this is like the most dramatic cut scene
Started playing Dragon Quest to the stars, saw the recap of this game and had to come back for the cut scenes. Freaking loved the game, it's still one of my favourite and most played games even now.
This is beautiful. It makes me cry every time I watch it
1:17 I cry every time :'(
+Matthew Doughty it's one of my favourite bits!
Nah I'm sorry but this is the best dragon quest game ever
i remember when i first got this game (Christmas morning) i had a panic attack when the starflight express flew down and it became bigger when my character flew down
The Soundtrack on the cutsen is so good
R.I.P. Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball and also the character designer of this game. 🙏🏻
Best dragon quest game

8 years later...
Thank you ^-^ I always like watching the cutscenes, I wish there were more! :P
This cutscene is beautiful. It honestly just feels like I came home when I watch this
Ah yeah this game where I spent hours hunting for metal slime inside the tomb just to beat the contagion jar boss or the triple metal slime inside the cave about the doll arc.
I cry literally every time I revisit this
1:57 i really really love how beautiful and alive they made the games world feel
Honestly this should be an anime

Yeah
I think if it wasn't on the ds they would have definitely done that.
aqualli or however you spell his name reminds me of tien
he was designed by Akira Toriyama, same person who designed this game.
marc thomas Aquila
Heh I also play this game as trunks
KombatKat 117 I made one of my support characters uub, and another gohan once lol
When Akira Toriyama gets payed Animators to assist him
When you let akira toriyama design characters and the main characters mentor looks like tien
I love this cutscene, I love this game!
Sad and Beautiful
I still hope for Nintendo to publish a remake of this game for the Switch :( This is easy one of the best games.
This is out of bounds! Great video.
De las mejores cinemáticas del ds del mundo
This game was my childhood
great intro
That fucking major seventh in the cadence gets me every time sugiyama may be a fascist bastard but damn he can write counterpoint
The best dragon quest
It's so Good I love it
when i first watched this i was like the seven figs shit again
thanks!!
Do what knocks the character off? It's as if something feathered comes and picks him up from below
MasterPigeonXD

Awsome :>>>>
What did you use to record this?
Oh, yes. FMV-based cutscenes… Pretty much one of the few instances in which
I think it's because his wings may have been outright destroyed

Ben Roberts His halo provided a cloak of invisibility so when the halo was destroyed so was his invisibility
