0:24 As a company that reserves its new features for its Pro model in the maiden year & trickles it down to the non Pro model the next year, I think the Camera button, for this year, could have been reserved for the Pro lineup. Small upgrades matter over time. You can cry small update after small update, but an update is still an update. And some of the updates are actually massive. However, if your point is that no single feature in and of itself is reason for the vast majority of people to upgrade.. then yes it is underwhelming.
@@TacoBel Yeah but it's the case of "if you have nothing to say don't say anything at all". The best innovation Apple can do for the entire industry now, and only they can pull it off too, is a release cycle every other year. Sure iteration matters over time but that doesn't make your releases any more fun, and most people don't compare the newest model to a 2016 flagship or even their own current phone, they usually compare them to last year's phone because that's how companies set them up. So yeah maybe Apple could just learn something from their 1% stock drop today and actually slow down the release cycle. We don't need the same phone each year, wait a few out. Also even if they did that, iPhones really are identical to the 12. Like, no meaningful UX difference. The only difference being pro motion honestly. There really is no reason to buy the newest flagship if you're an Apple fan, unless you just really hate having money i guess
At this point literally no one really need to upgrade their iPhone if they are having iPhone 12 or newer variant because of some major reasons: [1]It still doesn't have a 120hz display (industry standard is 120hz at this point) [2] it doesn't have support for fast charging (not even 50watts lol) [ 3] Base variant still has 128gb of storage (ridiculous in 2024) [4] The pro series doesn't have a single cosmetic change since iPhone 13Pro.
10-11 years ago I used to get so excited by new phones launches. Maybe as I’m getting older (and just don’t care as much about having to have the latest new phone) but man, these launches in recent years have just got boring and stale. The level of innovation in the mobile world has just slowed way down. It’s basically the same as last year and the year before that and the year before that. Updates now are just so incredibly incremental they’re not worth upgrading for. Still on my 12 Pro and will be until the battery goes or it stops working.
I currently have the iphone 15 pro max and am very happy with it. I won't upgrade until the next iPhone 20 pro max release or until they redesign the new iPhone completely from scratch 😂
I’m currently using the iPhone 14 plus. But when I do upgrade in a couple years I’ll go with the pro due to the 6.3 inch screen and battery improvements!
I feel like that camera button could’ve just been a software thing. Like on the pixel you double tap the power button to launch the camera. Am I missing something here? Did it need an ENTIRE new button?
@@abracadabra7196 yeah but that’s subjective. Compared to a 15 or even 14, sure. 13 or older and it’s a fairly significant upgrade across the board. A tech journalist should be more even handed IMHO.
People complaining that the 16 is quite similar to last year’s model really miss the point. Most people don’t upgrade EVERY YEAR. It may be incremental between one year and the next, but if you upgrade every 3, 4, 5 or even 6 years, it’s a big upgrade. That’s what the smartphone market has become now and if you don’t realize that you’re just ignorant.

Pfft, charging speed. Enough about charging speed. Why care about charging speed when you can just charge your phone when you're not using it, like at night. Why do I care if my phone takes 1 hr to charge or 20min to charge, im asleep. Oh right, it only really matters if your phone can't hold enough battery during normal use to last you the day.
I cancelled my Pixel 9 Pro preorder to wait for the iPhone announcement and I should not have done it. I lost the preorder bonus and additional $50 off discount. Smh
Don’t get scammed then. People want them, they will sell whether you want it or need it. They don’t force you to buy. It’s definitely an upgrade but it’s for people coming off a 13 or lower ideally

iPhone 17: we updated a camera
Added a new button and call it a new iphone, brilliant!
The notch is still there.
It's not a notch... It's a "dynamic island"
@@cavon_08 still a notch!
Not a notch. It's the 'Black Void.'
@@cavon_08 Dafuc is that.
I use to get a new phone every single year because they were actually inovative... even this at this point isn't enough... literally all I want at this point is a new design....
this is the most underwhelming iPhone . basically iPhone 12ssss
😭😭😭😭😭🤚🏾
Small upgrades matter over time. You can cry small update after small update, but an update is still an update. And some of the updates are actually massive. However, if your point is that no single feature in and of itself is reason for the vast majority of people to upgrade.. then yes it is underwhelming.
The demolish the 12s
For real it's ben an S year since the 12 and you can even argue that it started with 11 Pro (not regular).
Best Models are 4s, 5s, 6s plus, x, 12 pro max, 13 pro max. These are legendary.
Seriously still 60 hertz?!
maybe they will inovate to 30 hertz in iphone 17, very Apple haha
Camera control button is really good innovation. idk why people say it's 15 atleast they added new hardware feature
I wish they'd just move the buttons away from the middle. You can't use a lot of clamp holders with them as they keep getting pressed
I wonder how that button will work with cases. It does not look very friendly and it is too flush.
That is a great point. Any case with decent protection would have to come with a substantial cutout for the new button
Already pre-ordered iPhone 16 Pro, my old one is iPhone 13 Pro.

Who else is reading the comments? ❤
The iPhone 16 Series! 🚀✨ Featuring the A18 Pro Chipset and enhanced camera that takes mobile photography to a whole new level.
Waiting a year for just some minor tweaks?
When are we gonna get full display iPhones without this Dynamic Island?
iPhone 30😂
Another 10 years, Samsung will release it eventually and then 5 years later apple will release it as an incredible feat of engineering
For someone who's never owned an iPhone...I'm excited for the 16 pro max
How many minutes can the $1000 128GB iPhone Pro record in 4K120 Dolby Vision? I'd wager less than ten.
I currently have the iphone 15 pro max and am very happy with it. I won't upgrade until the next iPhone 20 pro max release or until they redesign the new iPhone completely from scratch 😂
There’s not much difference from the 15 pro to the 16 pro
I’m currently using the iPhone 14 plus. But when I do upgrade in a couple years I’ll go with the pro due to the 6.3 inch screen and battery improvements!
I feel like that camera button could’ve just been a software thing. Like on the pixel you double tap the power button to launch the camera. Am I missing something here? Did it need an ENTIRE new button?
how else would estrangers know you have the new iphone?
No point to upgrade
That was pretty weak coverage of some highly anticipated tech. “Like whateverrrrrr”
….mmmkay😒
but it is indeed a "like whateveerrr" type of phone. cant be helped
@@abracadabra7196 yeah but that’s subjective. Compared to a 15 or even 14, sure. 13 or older and it’s a fairly significant upgrade across the board. A tech journalist should be more even handed IMHO.
Keeping my iPhone 15 pro max this year… until Apple changes the damn design I’m good. We’ve had the same phone since the 12 pro.
since 11 pro 😂
same design since the 11 pro minus the rounded edges
People complaining that the 16 is quite similar to last year’s model really miss the point. Most people don’t upgrade EVERY YEAR. It may be incremental between one year and the next, but if you upgrade every 3, 4, 5 or even 6 years, it’s a big upgrade. That’s what the smartphone market has become now and if you don’t realize that you’re just ignorant.
Apple is no longer innovating like it used to, it is slowly falling behind in the technological world, and I say slowly. Other brands have caught up with it and even surpassed it (globally). A quick example is the latest Pixel 9 Pro XL which already comes with all the GEMINI artificial intelligence (and owned by Google itself), and another is the S24 Ultra, etc. This latest iPhone 16 Pro is a disappointment, I really expected more from Apple. Oh, but for charging high prices for little or no innovation, they are the leaders in the world.

1:18 thats what she said
im excited to try out the new camera control button
Only a shameless Apple fangirl would call an extra useless button a win.
Just the three minutes I needed for an update.
Was thinking of getting me first iPhone this year but the event was so boring and meaningless it almost turns me off it and towards the Pixel 9 Pro lol. The charging speeds are still so slow also
Pfft, charging speed.
@@TacoBeljust because you don't care about it doesn't mean other people don't.
I cancelled my Pixel 9 Pro preorder to wait for the iPhone announcement and I should not have done it. I lost the preorder bonus and additional $50 off discount. Smh

Well, will be another year with my Alpine green 13 pro max😍 cuz’ there’s nothing new or worth it this year again🤔
This Iphone event is a scam, every year!
Big time
Don’t get scammed then. People want them, they will sell whether you want it or need it. They don’t force you to buy. It’s definitely an upgrade but it’s for people coming off a 13 or lower ideally
So the same with Samsung and others brands design. Smartphones peaked years ago only thing they change is inside
Sure buddy
No one making you buy it lol
Can you still put notifications on top (while on lock screen?) Or is that feature lost cus Apple?
nice try diddy
This iPhone 16 is different from previous iPhones
So amazing 😊
Basically apple created a solution for the problem nobody had by adding an unnecessary button and labelled it as a feature for users to buy their new phone.
I was hoping for 40w charging (at least) and the 12mp telephoto to become 48mp :/ was planning to upgrade from 12pro max but will wait another year
My mind is telling me Yes
My mind is telling me No
Yeah, a new button so my OtterBox case won’t fit
Everyone who has commented on the iPhone 16 has been critical of it.

This amazing new button feature is worth every penny🥴
apple event was look like my coursework, writing a lot of things to make it bigger on a single simple thing.
Talking like someone who is just happy to be there ... The verge lost its soul
well, it’s probably easier to control the camera from the screen in portrait mode. but the button is definitely very useful in landscape mode. i welcome the camera button, the button i have ever wanted.
