- The awesome opening movie from the Japan only Dragon Quest 25th Anniversary collection. You can see some scenes from DQ I,II, and III in beautiful Anime rendition.
The compilation also has an extended DQX Trailer, which I will be posting on Dailymotion, since Square-Enix doesn't want it on RUclips. I did my best to rip and render the movies in the highest quality my machine would let me, and enhanced resolution.

Criminally underrated
The reason DQ hasn't done well in the west is because over 25 years, only 4 games have gotten marketing. You cannot make an entire series popular only advertising 1 game every 4-10 years. On the opposite side, series like Pokemon and Final Fantasy became super popular because they got yearly, sustained marketing. Which Dragon Quest as a series did not get.
If Enix, and Later SquareEnix had ever tried to give DQ the level of marketing Final Fantasy got, DQ would have gotten popular.
6 years later... The Hero in Smash Bros and 11s and 123 switch editions Sales got a huge boost once again Smash proves it self as not only a great game but great marketing

@@Grid433 Similar, yeah. Fire Emblem was mostly unheard of in the west until Marth and Roy were added in Melee. iirc Roy was added to market FE6 in Japan, and it was initially discussed removing the characters for the western release but ultimately they were left in and they were a lot of westerners' first taste of Fire Emblem. The games began getting localized and sold in the west starting with FE7 but the series was still doing poor in sales overall up until Awakening released and revitalized the series. DQ11 has been a lot of people's first experience with Dragon Quest and a lot of that has to do with Eleven and the other heroes' inclusion into smash. I've seen more people talking about DQ this past year than I've seen in, well, a very long time.
If only they got marketing like DQ11 did. They ever release a large demo and put the main character is smash hopeing to bring people into the seris?
Playing the Erdrick Trilogy now, and just finished II on Saturday. I freaking LOVE this. Is it weird this was a perfect “walk down memory lane” despite JUST finishing I and II within the past 9 days? 🤣
Nah, its normal to feel nostalgic for something you enjoyed regardless of how long ago it was.

It's epic that at the last part if the video they showed Loto and his decendents standing together.
The classic that brought us final fantasy has now came out from the shadows of RPG's to reveal its true form.
This isn't even it's final form.
@requiemlarp While not directly connected to DQVIII, Ramia (known as Empyrea throughout 8) is from DQIII. She reveals her true name and nature in the end of 8, and mentions something about going to different worlds because the world from DQVIII is no longer in danger, giving the sense that all DQ worlds coexist via different planes or dimensions.

You can tell the creators love and respect their own franchise and fans so much. Like they even went through their own way to create this animation. I wish the Zelda series had these little things like this within the franchise. But they’re both wonderful.

Remakes of 1, 2 and 3 in the kind of cel-shaded style like this for the Switch would be my dream!

I love how the Hero's official party is a Female Soldier and Female Cleric. But yes, this is pretty awesome. The tell-tale 'falling into Alefgard' falling light sequence is really cool.

Update 2018 - I want this released on the Switch Remastered and in HD. no reason in 2018 can they not make a Switch multi cart with DQ 1 - 2 - 3 on it.
probably because it included emulated versions of the NES and SNES versions. NES versions were called Dragon Warrior I-III and the SNES versions never came outside Japan.

Dragon Quest I, II and III are all on Switch, though they're separate games rather than a collection, and they appear to be based on the SNES versions.
YES, bought all 3 Instantly, but I wanted a all Three on a Switch Cartridge , along with the NEW Animation they created.

the heroes are awesome, but nobody talks about that Badass soldier 0:47 from DQII who killed some of his attackers, escaped, AND made the journey to Midenhall by himself While wounded

There were ports for 3DS, but only in Japan.
Meanwhile we get the watered down port of a mobile game. Doesnt have the flare of the GBC title.
III is now getting an HD-2D remake.

Even though I don't have a Japanese Wii (nor even speak Japanese, for that matter), I bought this collection, anyway. It makes for a nice addition to my Dragon Quest shelf.
I'm a simple man . I saw dragon quest and Godbird in the thumbnail, I clicked.
If we are getting all 3 games in HD-2D now, they should take the chance to remake this.
I just finished DQ8 and now I have to play DQ3 so I can find out the connection with Emyprea! :D

@requiemlarp You're pretty much right about all of that - the one connection that Dragon Quest 8 shares with Dragon Quest 3 is the appearance of Ramia, known as the Godbird Empyrea in DQ8. She was hatched in 3 and makes an appearance in 8. That, and I think the Dragovian Lord from 8 looks a bit like the Dragon Lord from the very first Dragon Quest, but that just might be something the developers decided to do.
The new Dragon Ball Super movie looks to be in this same style of animation. Maybe if that does well, we can get a full DQ movie in this same style. I would love to see that.

Man, Japan gets the best trilogy. What i do for a proper dq 3 like the gbc days. Not the watered down mobile app. Never loved they took out the mini game TnT and the fairy fountian

@Jadicegirl: Is DQ3 even connected to 8? I thought 1, 2 and 3 were the Loto Trilogy, 4-6 were the Zenithia Trilogy and others were relatively self-contained (well, other than like DQM which was tied to 5).

With FFXV flopping so hard worse than XIII, I can see Square Enix pushing DQ XI heavily (That's if their higher ups have actual brains). The reason DQ was never successful outside Japan is because they never market it the same way they do with the FF series.

suiken I disagree. My two friends and I (plus a lot of people I don't know, judging from online reviews) think it's an awesome addition to the series.
Though you COULD make the argument that because of its massive departure from the classics in terms of gameplay style it FEELS less like an FF game...

They did. Well, on the smartphones though.
nope, the Smartphones are a totally NEW build with Chibi graphics, the later games DQ 4 - 7 are all DS versions.
This collection had the snes versions of these games.

Their are many video game trilogy's I've enjoyed. Dark souls, bioshock(infinites ending destroyed the game), fallout, call of duty MW series but none of them come close to home for me compared to the original dragon quest trilogy

Im seriously massively disappointed the newest dragon quest will just fuck up the series constant line of good games with consistency to target western audiences when the west is barely interested and 11 sold well because of the smash reveal and people finding how colorful the game is along with akira toriyama
dragon quest is my favorie game but for 25th anniversary they shouldhave done dragon quest 4 , 5 , 6. 7. 8 and 9 because 1 2 and 3 have been remade 4 times
The hell would they wanna do that for, they popped 4-6 up on the DS, 7 was getting totally remade into a 3D version instead of sprites, and 9 hasn't been out long enough to warrant a remake, hell, I don't even think NA has even gotten the First 3 yet.

What's pointless? From what I've read, it'd go to the best selling console which is so far 3DS.

Mega Swampert 123 They should remake the Erdrick trilogy into one big 3D fully voiced game. Then expand upon that story with time traveling or some shit.
Amazing opening that covers the first 3 games perfectly but the animation definitely was rushed just look at the framerate

I've only played Dragon Quest Nine and I luv it. plz no spoilers for the anime, I need to watch it!! also no spoilers for the game, I'm not done yet (Stupid Lieutenant Hootingham-Gore) If anyone knows how to beat him, plz, plz, PLZ tell me. its when you meet him outside the castle and he has the 2 armors with him DX HES A PAIN!!

Dragon Quest Dai no Daibouken ep 2
Unfortunitely the fansubs only go up to about episode 24, this out of 46 episodes. That I could find.
The other Dragon Quest anime *The legend of Abel* came before Dai no Daibouken and has roughtly the same amount of episodes and only 10 available fansubs :(
I spent all day today downloading them both as RAW VHS and DVD rips, which had no official subs either :(
