Legends77 i don’t really remember but do skill points you haven’t used transfer if you change vocation? Also do you keep the permanent “+30 charm” bonuses and the like from the class specific skill trees (such as the minstrel one)?
I remember knowing Corvus was a final boss and for that reason grinding up lv 60 before fighting him. The goal was 99 but when i saw someone beat him with ease as a lv40 i realized my foolishness.
Actually kind of amazed how you tanked that Magic Burst like it was nothing. That bastard of a move is the sole reason this guy gives me so much trouble.
Yeah, I can see that. I've since found ways of dealing with it, though; double Magic Barrier allows everything but the flimsiest of characters to take it, and combined with Forbearance and a good team lineup I don't even have to worry about my Mage taking it. Forbearance spam is REALLY good, I've learned. Especially if you have Magic Mirror on your Paladin.

I heavily grinded before this fight, thinking Corvus was super Op, so I got all my chars to lv 85+ and ended up killing him in like 5 min on my first try
@@Lisomo In post game there are some good ways to grind exp, i heard the Tower of Nod is a good place for it because metal king slimes spawn with killing machines.
Replayed after a long time, it was a surprisingly easy final battle. Paladin, gladiator, and two sages, all level 43 with a single reclass. High tension gladiator with multifist carried the damage in the battle, paladin reduced corvus' attacks to low double digits, and the two sages healed, buffed and occasionally did magical attacks. The game is still good, and much more enjoyable once you know what you're doing, went through it without a single wipeout, unlike my first playthrough when i was a teen years ago.
Totally agree it was hell when I first played against him (I knew nothing about these kinds of games I was very young) but after replaying it older it was really easy
My sister, best friend, his brother, and I beat this boss by pyscing myself as a minstrel up with the cheer on ability putting me at 100 tension in two turns. the final class ability of the ministriel allowed him to throw a bunch of balls at enemies which did absurd damage of 1,500 at 100 tension it was epic
+mjt crazy face lol, trust me, when I was first playing this on my DS, I just threw my under powered characters at Corvus for hours until I luckily beat him xD.
Man, 5 year old me was really weird at playing this game. After beating the Ragin' Contagion, I headed to Alltrades Abbey, where I had no idea how to trigger the battle with Master of Nu'un. I went to Porth Llaffan and defeated Lleviathan, then went to defeat Garth Goyle. That was for some reason the most difficult battle for me, and I lost about 6 times. Then I fought Tyrantula and defeated her first try. After I got the ship, I could not activate the Grand Lizzier or Larstnastnaras battle, so I went straight to the Dreadmaster with a level 20 Minstrel and level 14 Warriors and a level 14 priest. I failed horribly and grinded at least 20 Metal Medleys so I was level 35 and level 29, and defeated him. I then somehow managed to get to level 40 before Master of Nu'un, the final boss I defeated in the Protectorate, thinking he would be the most difficult boss in the game so far, but defeated him in 2 turns using Gigaslash. I then completely destroyed all the other bosses in the game and was level 57 by the Final Boss, yet I still got defeated once, but then still barely beat him (my Catoptric Armour deflected his Kafrizz and defeated him). And that is why I was a weird player.
In my first game I nearly skipped Master of Nu'un as well. I couldn't beat Leviathan though as my young mind didn't understand xp and ran from every possible battle
When I first played this I somehow struggled while helping a friend out with two other friends, I had a level 99 minstrel and kept spamming gigaslash...
i remember him looking super cool back when i was younger XD now he just looks like a cartoon villain. i also remember defeating him super quickly, cause my characters were way to overpowered. My friend took so many tries, cause his characters were way to weak XD

How come nobody uses the oomph spell? It lets their attacks do like 100-150 points of damage per hit without tension. It also lasts for quite a while because it's a spell. I used oomph on my warrior and martial artist and then got them to super high tension while my mage kept healing them. Then I just did hardclaw and falcon slash. Did the trick. I also HATE magic burst, even more than disruptive wave. Every time he does that my first thought is "oh shit I'm dead"
I have decided to do a mini series on small things on dq 9. Such as where to find spiked armour, how to level up quickly and how to alachmise some really cool stuff. Ill be starting in about two weeks time

This game badly needs a remake on a proper console, hopefully PC included. This was one of the best DQ games and it deserves better than to be played on a tiny handheld screen.
Go down to the 3rd level, the one right before where the bow was for creating the light bridge that connects Wormwood Creek and Upton. There is a stair case going down. This is for liquid metal slimes. Go downstairs and open up a treasure map. Then go back up and stand in the up and right of the stair case. Wait for monsters to spawn at the bottom of the screen and they move away (they won't bother you) a liquid metal slime will eventually show up. There has to be a video here on YT that explains it better.
I hope they remake this game with HD 3D graphics on console and PC. I loved this game as a kid and even now it's still one of my favourite games than I can play over and over and not get bored of.

@@Lisomo bowhole grinding, get omni spear/axemaster on all your characters (one or the other) and try to kill as many LMS's as you can with hatchet man or thunder thrust - you can easily get to ~level 45 this way, 40 is more than enough for Corvus but you'll want to be higher if you plan to fight the legacy bosses (should be at least level 60 for Baramos imo)
you're just super lucky he didn't use disruptive wave, lol
@Andrew Greig yep
I spammed gigs slash so many times in this game lol
You didn't use alchemy did you? Anyone who uses alchemy tends to have the ogre shield instead of the dark shield be it's just one small step in alchemy, one GIANT leap, for defense-kind.
2:14 the bonus fight!? I'm done!
how can a gladiator equip a shield?
+Haoxiang Wong I think theres an ability to where you can equip a shield regardless of class, so I'm sure that's what I had on.
+RedEyedHao If you level up your shield in a different vocation you can get omnivocational shieldmaster which allows you to equip a shield in every vocation. look through the skill point tree for other omnivocational things
Yeah that thing
shield skill 100 in snother vocation

This game badly needs a remake on a proper console, hopefully PC included. This was one of the best DQ games and it deserves better than to be played on a tiny handheld screen.
Dragon Quest X is the closest thing, speaking from experience
2k damage that last hit. I could only get a maximum of 950 even with tension at max using gigaslash
I beat this when I was 8 I'm now 13 and i remember I did a lot of grinding but their are harder bosses like the ultimate dragon
The Ultimate Dragon is in DQ8, not DQ9
@@RoseLostinValley Long time ago but I think I meant the dragon lord.
You beat him so easily, I had so much trouble beating him, that I deleted my save file. That was a long time ago... Lol
How did you buff all of your party memebers at once??
Well maybe, I would put a commentary walkthrough of a game like this or Skyrim but there is a reason why I cant....
Best game ever... Good old days...
Revisiting my child hood
« Very easy to defeat »
Level 55...
Ok...
I'm stuck does anyone know how to get through gleeba?
I have info on Corvus' stats #277 EXP:40000 Gold0 Family??? HP4800 MP: 255 ATK248 DEF278 Drops None
In the description you said grind in the bowhole, what should I be doing there? :/
@@jenniferpruitt6534 yeah, I found a video after commenting. Have since levelled and beat the game, twice! Thanks for the help!
