Metal Detecting Pirate Treasure In Downeast Maine
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 4 окт 2024
- While metal detecting a deserted peninsula that contained many old cellar holes, Thor discovers a very old Spanish hammered coin that dates back to the 1500-1600's and was likely part of a pirate treasure haul. This area on the coast is well documented to have harbored many pirates and their ships during the golden age of piracy. It is rumored that Sam Bellamy himself had buried and lost one such treasure haul in this general vicinity. We also find many more interesting artifacts.

Those accents are wild. And I’m Australian lol
I’m from the area. Hearing him talk reminds me of home and my childhood. I wish I had an accent as thick as his. Love it.
Me to Aussie Aussie Aussie
Oh yeah? Ever watch Bondi Treasure Hunter? He’s awesome too. The best parts of the videos is how excited he gets. He finds safes, bags of money, bikes and chairs lol.
I omoc morf a dnal rednu nwod
I was raised in Rumford, Maine and always thought that the down east comedians were exaggerating the accent. Then, I moved to Bath, Maine and was shocked to find out that the coastal accent was, truly, that way.
Fun adventure ..... Billy and crew seem like a lot of fun and know how to live life to the fullest.
I just love your friends accent.

It seems like wherever you go, Chigg, you meet the nicest people. Most of them are characters for sure. It's always a good time with you though. There's still some good people out there....and that's reassuring. Be careful, stay healthy, and have fun.
Enjoying the Maine adventures
Looks like a great time in Maine. You got to experience a lot of the different adventures Maine has to offer. Thanks for sharing.
I continually have people from elsewhere want me to just talk - as they like to hear my southern Appalachian accent. I understand how they feel as I can't get enough of Billy's accent and inflection. He seems to be an absolute ball to be around too.
Really enjoyed this one Beau, enjoyed the history and those sites could keep you going for years mate. Look forward to the next! Happy Fossicking! Warren and Colleen.
Billy sure is a character. lol It's hard to tell if he's messing around or being serious when he's telling his stories. The videos with the Maine guys have been great.

I love to hear Wild Billy and his son Thorn,talk..Billy is so funny.almost as funny as the " chig"
👍 Look like you guys have a bunch of fun there I enjoyed it good day
That Billy dude makes my day.
“Seal skull” is a bird synsacrum. Part of their pelvis.
You sound really happy Mr chiggs 😜👍
"Don't rub it till it dries," is good advice but instead of rubbing the dirt off it you can just pop it in your mouth and let your saliva gently lift the soil from it. That way you can see what it is right away without any risk of scratching the coin. Oh, and always wear gloves.
And be sure to not swallow.
Great story! Thanks guys, it was a really good day and some good company.
Ayuh ! Maine blueberries and treasure.
I think that, “skull” at the 10 minute mark is actually the hip of a large bird. You can see the vertebrae marks on the inside of it.
You guys have way too much fun.
I am thoroughly enjoying your Maine adventures Chigg! Your buddy Billy is awesome--you and he make a great team!
I Just love watching you find stuff. Thank you for sharing 🌞🌞🌞
Absolutely love the accents ❤
I really enjoy the "raw" nature of the vids here. But it sure would be nice to see the finds after a final cleaning on occasion.
billy and his young friend sound like FDR. i could listen to those historical stories all day long.
I actually stop watching regular tv chigg.. Your videos are all I watch now.. Love you guys..
Aloha Chigg! Its awesome when theres a history to the area you're digging! Billy is a great story teller! Fascinating story! And remember, DON'T RUB IT!-Tell that to the Hoover Boys!😳

I'm finding Billy's innuendos quite entertaining. Great video... ✌
It sure looked like I saw a Fox Eye staring back when you first put the camera in the hole to show us....Nice finds
Its not a seal its from a bird! Love your videos Mr Chigg!
Billy is an awesome story teller.
That smooth rock may be a polished Celt. Hope you kept it.
Captain Billy is a great guy. What an entertaining pair you two are!
Great vid from my neck of the woods ! Lots of history here to be found :)
Down East, there is Pirate History in Machias!
Nice cellar!
Hey just found your channel.. I’m from Rockland Maine!
I really enjoyed this video. Great job. Of course your song at the end is super as always. I like the way you added your voice at the end of your song.
Beau I really enjoy watching your videos and learning about the places you hunt. Very interesting. Billy is quite a character and I am sure a great friend. Keep up the amazing Adventures. Stay safe my friend.
Hugs from California 😉😎
Great video
Sounds like you are having great fun and finding some good things!!😎🐓🐓🇬🇧
Billy is the sort of guy you could meet in a pub and listen to his stories all night over a few adult beverages. He reminds me of a Newfoundlander, Irish descent and has the surname for it as well.
Being a Maine boy myself you finally have fellas who sound normal to me lol. That coin kinds looks like a 2 soal French coin. Found one in Sanford Maine. Looks the size and thickness. Is it is it is hammered and has two pillars on one side. Wish there was better pics.
Hey Kriswhitt1, sadly I live in Sanford, lol. I have a couple of early settlement farm field permissions in Shapleigh and have found some great relics but nothing French, well other than clad Canadian coins. Were you on a house site when you found that 2 soal?
bobinmaine1 hey I found that coin on reed street in Springvale (close enough to Sanford ) it was about 14 inches down. Where I found it is a mill house duplex (1920) now but I guess it used to be a carriage house back in the day that burnt down. I think I have a video of it on RUclips if you go to my page. I’m not to good with this internet stuff but I’m always looking to go out and find some good stuff let me know. I got a 1781 Spanish half reale last year. At one of my locations. Always looking for a detecting buddy!
At 10:56 after he spades the ground you can see what looks like a coin just of set to the bottom right of center screen.
You're sure having a good time in Maine there Chigg. Interesting looking blueberry fields they've got. I've bought frozen, wild Maine huckleberries here in the store before and they are delicious. Glad to see you got Lindsay a full crotal bell, no doubt she will be excited to see that. Hope you finally figured out what that odd coin was. That was so cool, it did look like Pirate treasure.
Have a great day!
Chigg, you're in my neck of the woods!
We’ve got a Fort Foster in Kittery too, Mr. (Capt., Gen. ?) Foster must have been somethin’!
I live in Maine and not too far from there a few years ago. I have been doing my research on the Pirate Black Sam Bellamy and the rumor that he came up that bay to create a pirate utopia. I have stared at that place for many hours on Google earth and researching. Just never knew how to get the permissions to go out there. When I tell you how jealous I am you got to go there...oh man. Great video!
Tax maps
Love the roundup! And your outro even more !
WOW What a great place to Metal Detct...
I've recently learnt that this accent exists
@Optimus Slime I moved to Maine from Ohio and I practically needed a translator.
Sounds like home to me. Left New England 25 years ago. Lived in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Conn. with many a Summer day trip or weekend to Maine. I honestly don't understand why people can't understand -- course Maine is thicker than most others in New England.
Wow, really?? Lol anytime I go back there it doesn’t take me long to pick it up. Beau started to pick it up a little too.
@@scottdunbar4898 When I met my husband's grandmother, I really did need a translator. I grew up in Oregon and Grandma was from the hills of West Virginia. I really could not understand a word she said. She talked really fast and with a strong accent. Every time she said something I had to ask my husband, "What did she say?"
cant wait to see this
Man I could hunt there for weeks.
Awesome!
Say hi to Lindsay for us.
Thanks Chigg, Billie & ? nice finds many years old...seems like there'd be more British stuff but if they never left the ship it couldn't get on land..! =)
Only two things I ever found were a 1990 quarter, and that was in 1990. Then at the beach, I dug a hole about 3’ down, had a strong signal, and it was a plastic bag full of beer cans! Long story short, I got $250.00 for my White Metal detector. Some people have a knack for this. I ain’t one of em.
When I hear Billy's accent and see the fox den, it makes me think of a cute story. We're from Michigan and we stayed on the coast of Maine for a couple of weeks, years ago with our 4 young daughters. They met a friend with a strong Boston accent and as they watched a couple foxes playing near the rocks, their friend says, "foxes eat boards". Our daughters told us later that their new friend was confused thinking that foxes ate boards ("birds", with a strong boston accent)...lol.
🤯 Cool Stuff Today 🤯
Hey Beau, You've been moving about a lot lately. Australia, Louisiana, Alabama, South Carolina and now Maine.
I'm thinking your accent is gonna be all kinds of.....different. Love Your Work Man.
Technically the first naval battle of the Revolution was in 1772 when the Gaspee was burned in Rhode Island
What a cool place to hunt and good people to hunt with also.
The coin looks like a modern British 50p coin. Not the latest version but the previous, large version. They are heptagonal like that and the size looks about right.
Unlikely I know, but it really does look like it.
I came for the thumbnail, I stayed to see Billy
Awesome hunt guys 👍 loved the story 😁 great fun 😀 ATB Steve
Awesome
Love it Chigg! Maine blueberries! I brought me hear some of the best chocolate-covered blueberries from the Maine diner! Nummers! Love your excitement! Do a lunck video for me at the Maine diner! 😍🇺🇲🇺🇲
Hey chig , that "skull" may be a pelvis and its "eye holes" are more then likely hip joints
If id found that ´hammered´ in Europe, id call it a Roman sestertius
Is it just me, or is there a part of a face looking to the right just above the center there? I see from the eyebrow line to just above the chin, large nose and a slight smirk.
I can see a crown at the top and the face isn’t a full profile. It’s like a quarter profile.
That was a fast video GOD BLESS y’all Amen 🙏
Didn't look like any British hammered I've seen, too thick. Very cool though, looking forward to the identification. Thanks again Beau
Hi Chigg, first thought that came to mind with the "hexagonal" item when I saw it was a coin weight.
Great adventure, thanks. (U.K.)
Wow a cite that has revolutionary and civil war things thats nice.
Spanish real maybe for the mystery coin. I live up near Augusta not far from coast really. But would love to go out with you guys sometime . I have a few really good spots saved for special occasions hint hint lol .
Hey man thank you for the video I enjoyed it
Very cool finds!
You've picked up the accent well. This adventure has been a blast.
Social distancing....be careful Beau. 😳
Will Lindsay put the crotal bell on the door? That might work?
And ya....wear gloves eh? Who tells you more than me and my Dad eh? 😁
Did I hear you say eh? LOL! 😄
I like that smooth oval rock too! 😍
The coin looks like a British hammered half crown... 1640 ish
I love blueberries
I was detecting a small park in Bangor Maine when a fellow stopped to talk about Blackbeards treasure on an island off Machias. Its booby trapped however and he warned that it will kill you if you dare try it.
Foxes have scent glands that stink, no doubt about that. Lol
Nice place and good birds! Hard to tell on the large Cobb but appears to be a Spanish Cobb around 1700’s! Was it weighty? 👍
