This video walks through the process of replacing a broken roof-mounted antenna and base on a 2011 Chevy Equinox. The antenna replacement steps covered in this "How To" tutorial will be the same or similar on many other vehicles such as a GMC Acadia, Subaru, Ford, Dodge, and many others. Replacing a broken roof-mounted antenna and base is an easy job that can be tackled in approximately half an hour. You will receive a better reception of Sirius Radio when you replace a broken roof-mounted digital radio antenna.

Great. video. I have to replace mine on a Kia Soul (antenna damaged from a canoe on roof) Mine is in a similar location and I was concerned about how flexible the roof liner would be. It looks like it will be a fairly easy fix now.......Take care, Bluefin.

Very clear video. Experiencing leak with 2008 Saturn in the exact same spot, directly below the rear mounted antenna. The antenna is working. Could I try to patch with 100% silicone around the base of the antenna, rather than replacing?

Hi Mark, great video. How do I improve the am stations? On my truck I was able to listen on AM 640 talk show but with the traverse I am not picking up the AM station well in the same area! Any thoughts on that would be appreciated. Thanks!

How do you get the leverage? My 2015 Equinox is similar and has very little space to get to the screw. The walls are keeping ceiling up. Did you force it down hard to get the clearance? I don't want to permanently bend the ceiling.
Thank you for this video my audio went out in my car. The dealership wants to charge me 550 dollars after diagnosis says it’s a bag antenna base. With a little clarity this looks very easy to replace and I hope my audio comes back, signal sound, seat belt chimes as well. I ordered my part and I hope this fixes it.

OK Mark. I want to add XM radio to my 2014 Police Explorer. Will the rear radio antenna have a self-contained XM antenna in the antenna block? I see the basic antenna has 2 coax connectors. I assume is for XM radio and the other is for the Car radio. That is the other cable used for? Is there DC power going to the antenna? What is the need for the other black cable? Also, would the police vehicles have the cable to the XM radio? Seems they could same money by just purchasing one standard cable from the vender and wiring all Explorers the same with the same cables. I have not removed my headliner yet to see what is up there.

Looks pretty easy, one thing my wife had a freak thing happen, while backing out of garage the door came down and not only crack the antenna but the roof has a little dent that looks like it can be popped out. Right now the old antenna is not sitting flush. I would like to do it because letting a body shop do it would cost a small fortune. Any ideas.

Would this apply to replacing an attenna that the top cover got smacked off but the rest of the electronics are in tact?
I would imagine so, although it appears that the electronics are in tact.... Chances are it might have been damage done by moisture and water!

Hi there, is this for FM? XM? Both? The part description says "high frequency" antenna, but thats not clear if it covers FM. My Chevy volt FM reception has become pretty bad, picking up few stations now... Thanks!

paul i have nissan cube..i'm gonna try to use a infinity shark antenna..the high end aftermarket shows Q50 as the same antenna..i have found perfect/exact color 40.00 or best offer..
So I have questions if you can answer them for me..? My antenna isn't broken physically that I know of I'm having issues with static so much static a channel will be clear as day drive a little down the road boom static. sometimes its light static sometimes you cant hear nothing but static. mostly all channels are static.. I don't wanna buy a brand new antenna if that's not the issue. I don't know if these need recalibrated or maybe its something else wrong with maybe a loose wire or somethin please help the static is driving me crazy.. Also mine is an 08 Pontiac Torrent GXP 3.6L V6
Having the same issue with my moms Chevy Colorado.
thats called interference. You can not fix that because it have nothing to do with your antennae. You could physically move to another part of the country.
try flexing the rubber mast. My rubber antenna seems to be mostly broken through near where it screws into the base, but you wouldn't be able to tell by just looking at it.
If the static seems to be worse when going over bumps, then something is partially broken but not broken all the way through.
If that doesn't work, try unplugging all parts of the antenna system and then plugging it back in. One or more pieces might be broken, and you might be able to detect a difference by manipulating the pieces.
How do you find the screw to put back in so easily
I am trying to find the How to for 2015 Equinox LT I went on Amazon and a few other sites I can not get the correct part number? I called the dealer and they will not share the Part number
Google search. Mine lead me to ebay for 2012 Equinox - 2 wire non-didgitial, around $45. I think newer Equinox like yours is digital, 3 wire.

Helpful but I wanted to permanently remove it so that I can carry large pieces of paneling and mattresses home. But not it's going to leave a whole in the roof.

My 2017 Chevy Trax just had its antannea ripped off by someone.
Update. I got it fixed. I followed these steps exactly and was able to put in a replacement I acquired from a local junk yard.
