    Update!!! My order came in like 3 days! Super fast shipping! I got it installed in about an hour. But HUGE piece of advice. The screw, metal clip, bracket...DO FIT IN THE HOLE...All you have to do is (clean the surface obviously) and the antenna with the screw, bracket, everything goes in the hole. All you have to do is tighten the screw down from the inside to get it snug! This will save anybody who tries to do this a huge amount to time and effort (and tore up arms and fingers trying to assemble the bracket/screw under the ceiling. So. Recap.
    Keep the antenna as it ships. Completely assembled.
    Pull the old one like you did in the video.
    Feed the wires and plug it in like you did. BUT keep the antenna 100% assembled (DO NOT TAKE THE SCREW OUT) it'll all fit in the hole and mount to the roof and just tighten the screw! That's it!
    Thank you though for the video and also the link to purchase the part! Cheers mate! 🍻

      Steve thanks for the tip.i been trying to tighten mine but it looks like it's just tightening on the bolt..the hole looks messed up since mine was backed into the garage door..I will try again to see if will work

    • @Steve_Sinatra
      @Steve_Sinatra 3 года назад

      @@segbachan5123 not sure if there is damage to the home you feed it into. But the main thing is to hold it from up top and make sure it is pressed all the way in before you start tightening it. It's a small lip that starts expanding out that makes it snug. So don't screw it down a lot if it's not snuggling down right away. It doesn't take much screwing in. If it isn't snuggling down right away the lip didn't catch the under side of your roof. Stop screwing and smash the bracket back together as best you can and try again. Again. It doesn't take a lot of turns of the screw. So make sure the antenna is pressed all the way in and the lip of the bracket is catching the under side of the roof. Good luck mate!

      No problem! Hope you get it all back and working properly. This has got to be the worst designed part ever smh. So many people have had issues with this part. I will say that I purchased a 2022 Tahoe and they still use this antenna but it appears to have the gasket hole on the bottom now as it should. I used an aftermarket. It used to be cheaper though. I contacted the seller and they stated they are authentic but the price went up so I’m not sure. You would have to verify this with them though as I am in no way affiliated with them. Not 100% sure of the actual reason but I know I helped them sell a lot of these since I made this video so I’m assuming that’s why the price went up a little. I put the link in the description of where I got mine on eBay. It is not an affiliate link or anything like that. I just wanted to help others out. I hope it works out for you!

    I'm glad you posted this video...! My xm radio reception has been very week lately..! Plus, now that I've looked into this, I realize now that this is the source of my occasional water leak, but I didn't realize it was coming from this antenna mount...!!!! (Long story) I was able to remove the old antenna with difficulty and ordered a replacement.
    I"m not sure I have a complete plan to re-install the new antenna to prevent interior water leaks. I do intend to apply grease or Vaseline on the two rubber seals. I would like to plug the rear facing "water leak hole" with RTV sealant. I think this antenna unit should't need a leak hole. Comments..?

      No problem! I’m glad you figured out where your leak was coming from. Apparently it’s a common part that tends to fail quite often. That minor water leak can cause loads of costly damage. I honestly don’t know the purpose of that hole but on my new one it’s facing down so I don’t see a need to seal it but if yours is on the top side I don’t think that’s a bad idea at all. Good idea with the grease or Vaseline. Good luck with the install and I hope that it all goes well. Let us know how it worked out if you can 💪

So from reading other posts about dealer pricing this part isnt under warranty cause I let the dealer where I got the truck from know about it they want me to bring it in if its not covered then ill just do it myself. If your antenna still works fine but you are getting water take it off . Silicone the inside gasket around that bolt . You will see it . it is square and then put the bolt back on. Then lightly silicone the shark fin around the bogger outside gasket and silicone that little square hole in the back! That is what allows water to get in! I did this and it worked perfect and I have gotten a lot of rain! DRY

      It’s been awhile now since I did it so I can’t remember now but if there was a better way to do it that I could tell I’m sure I would have mentioned it. It’s not hard to do though. Especially if you can see how it’s done or at least follow someone like me doing it instead of doing it from scratch. I hope that helps and you are able to get it done. Once it’s done it’s something you shouldn’t have to deal with for awhile but if yours has a problem you want to address it as the next step for people is usually water reaching the headliner which will cause a bigger headache. 💪

      SMH I agree. Especially with the hole placement. Makes no sense at all. Plus the dealership charges way too much to fix this known issue. Nice set up! Mines all blacked out too with 6 spokes but my wheels are matte black 26’s. I also have the yellow fogs. One thing I added that I don’t see in my area is the “glow tie”. A little pricey in my opinion but it ties right into your factory set up. I think it looks nice. Other Tahoe owners stop me a lot and ask about it not knowing that it’s an official GM part/upgrade. If you haven’t already try out the Chevy all weather mats too. They work great as they cover everything from spills etc.

      @@jonienglish3231 i feel like my factory 20’s ride the same and always thought those even felt a little harsh for some reason but you definitely have to be careful riding over bumps with larger wheels and skinnier tires etc. I had my calipers painted red too but I hated how it looked behind my factory chrome 20’s whenever i switched the wheels back. I had brushed 6 stars in the same wheel before i bought the matte black ones. I originally wanted gloss but they were out of stock but I sort of like it now. It adds a little bit of contrast to the gloss black Tahoe and I never have to add tire shine since it sort of all blends together now. I ended up making my calipers back to silver and then recently went to black calipers. I added some drilled/slotted rotors so I wanted them to contrast off of them since those are bright silver behind the black wheels. My factory rotors are way darker behind the wheel than these new rotors.

    My question is, with the opening in the gasket to the front of the vehicle, wouldnt you get water in while driving in the rain? Wouldnt it be best to not have an opening in the gasket? I have a little water dripping from where the visor mounts on the drivers side, Im going to just put clear silicone all the way around the antenna and see if that stops it. My XM and Onstar is still functional. I see no need in having an opening in the gasket no matter what side.

    • @Jsean
      @Jsean  4 года назад

      Honestly, I don’t understand the design at all lol but based on me and many others issues it seems if there had to be a gasket opening for whatever the reason it shouldn’t be on the side the factory makes it. I imagine that like any other gasket it will start to lose its seal due to weather. Gets stiff from the cold and maybe loses its shape from the heat and after awhile the seal isn’t as tight and then water can eventually make its way in. As far as the seal being on the bottom, I’m assuming while driving the force is so great that water wouldn’t really go into that tiny hole in the gasket and if it did it would naturally work itself out by it being on the bottom. If on top the water could easily get into it especially if your vehicle was parked in a storm etc. if I remember correctly the gasket may have had channels or something inside so it wasn’t simply a hole that went strait through. Don’t quote me on that though. I believe if your antenna is still functional but water leaked through it would only be a matter of time before the antenna stopped working as water is finding its way through your gasket. If you seal it as you say I’m assuming that would work too as long as you didn’t mind having silicone around it. Just make sure you wipe around the edges clean so the silicone will adhere properly. Good luck and I hope it works out for you! Worst case scenario you at least know the culprit if the silicone doesn’t hold up. Just be careful, the last thing we all want is water coming inside. That can lead to so many other problems. Hope that was helpful!

Do I need to open the module and disconnect anything inside or just unplug it ? What features will be lost ? It is a 2016 Cadillac Escalade Platinum. Thanks Oli

    Part # is saying it won’t fit my 2015 Chevy Silverado High Country. Any thoughts on that?

    • @Jsean
      @Jsean  4 года назад

      If it says it doesn’t fit I wouldn’t take a chance. You could send the seller a direct message and ask if he has one that fits the 2015 Silverado or find the part number through your local dealership and then search for it on eBay. It’s a little extra work but better taste than sorry. Besides being a different part number I’d imagine the way you install it should be the same or generally the same. Hope that helps and good luck with the install. If you can let us know how it worked out!

    Good stuff for replacing a unit, but mine was ripped off so the hole and base area is uneven.when I place the New unit on there's a gap to the front and back.. plus when i try to tighten the 10 mm nut from below the whole thing goes through the roof.
    Anyone have this issue I'm thinking about working up a larger washer from the inside so I might be able to tighten the nut from the insde and pull down on the base unit..

    • @Jsean
      @Jsean  5 лет назад +1

      Corey Long LoL that’s horrible. Well, based on what I saw for others and my situation it helped with radio issues, gps and water leaking into the actual cabin. I recently noticed the light was red on my rear view so one day I hit the OnStar button and customer service ran a diagnostic. They told me it was the antenna not working properly for whatever the reason and to take it to my dealer. Upon further research the part itself wasn’t too high in cost but the dealer will most likely still charge for a diagnostic, part and install so the price jumps up pretty quick. I tried to see if it was covered as a faulty part but the dealer said no. If possible I would recommend taking yours off and inspecting it. What you see here is after I cleaned it. It was corrosion everywhere and way more water and junk pouring out of it just a few days before this footage you saw. I unscrewed it all the way and looked at the board and it had a few burn marks so I knew it was the antenna for sure in my situation. My Tahoe is only a few years old so I was surprised at how bad the condition was. This one I happen to run across on eBay is a great price and shipped from Texas. If you have a different color cover you may be able to take off your old one but I’m not 100% sure as I didn’t end up having to switch covers. I hope that helps. If you can let me know what ends up happening!
