How to Replace the Antenna Base on a Prius (Gen 2, 2004-09)

You can't just get any antenna base, the Prius has a pre-amp built into the base, so you need to get one made specifically for the Prius.

Is the Rubber seal just that easy to pull out? I got this same issue on mine and have to stuff to repair it, it is just te thought of messing with all those plastic holders..yeah not looknig forward to messing with those.

At about 0:34, you're talking about loosening the side panels. But in my 2007 Prius, the side panels are all one piece and there's a side airbag behind there on each side. Any concern that could be set off? Kinda weirded me out messing with this area so I stopped.

Great video…but before you get to doing a complete tear down, if the actual antenna is broken or damaged, you can unscrew the antenna from the base and screw on a new one and you’re all set.
