I remember there were no tiger sharks. Also I remember the silverhawks doing flips in the air and also when the thundercats were fighting mum-ra they were chasing him with mirrors and mum-ra fell over the fence and I to the audience. Even at age 8 I was cracking up because I knew that wasn't supposed to happen.

@@LauraLegends That was not uncommon for events like these, many times they wanted to see what kind of turnout they would get before living up to their advertising. There was probably some disclaimer somewhere that the show was subject to change etc.
I was fortunate enough to go to the Thundercats live at Madison Square Garden. It was awesome, a memory I always cherished. Seeing the Thundercats and Silver Hawks together on stage blew my mind. The tiger sharks were not there!
What's interesting is Madison Square Garden is a decent size venue for something of this nature. It almost feels like a the Boss's kid scenario. Some exec with connections came up with this weird idea & so they added Gumby etc. , tossed it at the wall, see what stuck. Usually these kinds of shows will travel around, not just sit in one spot. I am thinking if by some weird chance, the show was a hit, it would have made the rounds, since it would be the only way a show like this would make any money.
I'd like to see you in the Panthro outfit... Doing everyday things like buying groceries, getting gas for your car, buying something at Starbucks, walking Dante and Odie. This while being totally straight faced and oblivious to the fact that you're even *in* a costume. Can just imagine you at Starbucks when they call your name, "Panthro?" Panthro?" "Yeah right here.Thanks."

Back then, my mom actually surprised me with going downtown here in Chicago to the Auditorium Theater to see Thundercats Live. One of my fondest memories was when they came off stage, I think after they've won a battle and they were giving out high-fives and shaking hands with the kids, Lion-O came to me and shook my hand! Also after the show, I shook hands with Quicksilver. Best birthday ever! Also, Gumby and Pokey on skates was still mesmerizing to me for some odd reason.🤣

Having Gumby as the MC makes too much sense when you think about it. As pointed out, all of these shows were distributed by Lorimar Television. All the characters from Gumby, at least from the '80s series had the ability to enter any world walking into any book they came across. Yes, books would be sitting upright anywhere. Plus, the rollerskates were to simulate Gumby's ability to fast travel by gliding on one leg. I can't seem to remember Pokey doing it, though.

I remember my parents taking me and my siblings as kids to see this live, and because I was a toy collector in training (literally at 8 years old, lol), I thought this was the best thing EVER (at the time) !!!! I remember there was alot of roller skating or Ice skating or whatever it was at that time, lol, and us waving our thundercat flags in the air screaming to the top of our lungs as if we were at a michael jackson concert !!!! And if memory serves me correctly, I think Mumm-ra & Monstar were only featured in animation form on the big screen behind the action (not too sure) !!!! I also think the tigersharks were a part of it too, (not too sure about that, but I keep getting visions of Octavia spinning around with her tentacles flying all over the place for some reason, maybe just wishful thinking at the time) !!!! I thought it was the best ever, But after seeing your video I'm like DAMN that @#$% looks cheesy AS #@$%, LOL !!!! thank you for the memories and for making me LAUGH SO HARD !!!! ....PANTHRO'S HEAD THO !!!! Laura Legends I really did like the ThunderCats I was wondering what was going to come first the live action Thundercats or a live action Voltron I think the live-action mask will be next it makes more sense but the costumes for the Thundercat was pretty funny especially Lion-O Snarf's just look to evil lol

These types of shows were a dime a dozen, in the US, back in the day. If wasn't these types of shows, it was ice skating shows. If there was a franchise that they could use, and thought they could sell tickets to, they did it. Never heard of this one, but doesn't really surprise me.

I'm glad I never heard about this as a kid, I would definitely have wanted to go, and I almost certainly would have had nightmares for months. Everything used to give me nightmares. I had nightmares when I first saw a real life rabbit! Although thinking about it now, it's probably because it brought back memories of Watership Down.

Laura the Tiger Sharks were a Water based Alien group, they would have fit in perfectly with the Silver Hawks and Thunder Cats unfortunately Rankin/Bass shut down in Early 1987 buy that time The Tiger Sharks first season was done and on it's way to TV, and another tidbit both the Tiger Sharks and Silver Hawks showed up as Groups in-slaved to Mumm-Ra in the Thunder Cats Reboot from 2011.
I am so glad you covered this!!!!! I actually went to this show when I was a kid. I had the program but lost it at my church showing it off in Sunday school. They put them all together in the live show because they all came on back to back on same channel on Saturday. At the time it was a pretty huge lineup . I don’t remember the show and what they did so much as how they looked and the program book I lost.... I’ve tried to look this up and was never successful so you finding this is amazing!!!!!
This bothers me so SO much LOL. I loooove Thunder Cats and grew up with it. I also grew up thinking CATS the musical the movie was literally Thunder Cats live action. XD In the late 80s the musical came out and they could have borrowed designs from that musical.. why did they go this direction? Also why does Tygra's wig look like a fluffy Arcanine? Laura the Tiger Sharks were a Water based Alien group, they would have fit in perfectly with the Silver Hawks and Thunder Cats unfortunately Rankin/Bass shut down in Early 1987 buy that time The Tiger Sharks first season was done and on it's way to TV, and another tidbit both the Tiger Sharks and Silver Hawks showed up as Groups in-slaved to Mumm-Ra in the Thunder Cats Reboot from 2011.
So this is the first team up of the Thundercats and Silverhawks?!?!
I am so glad you covered this!!!!! I actually went to this show when I was a kid. I had the program but lost it at my church showing it off in Sunday school. They put them all together in the live show because they all came on back to back on same channel on Saturday. At the time it was a pretty huge lineup . I don’t remember the show and what they did so much as how they looked and the program book I lost.... I’ve tried to look this up and was never successful so you finding this is amazing!!!!!
This bothers me so SO much LOL. I loooove Thunder Cats and grew up with it. I also grew up thinking CATS the musical the movie was literally Thunder Cats live action. XD In the late 80s the musical came out and they could have borrowed designs from that musical.. why did they go this direction? Also why does Tygra's wig look like a fluffy Arcanine? XD thank you for posting all of this! I had no idea it existed!
