  • Toys can be very dangerous in the wrong hands, especially those of a child --no matter how simple or harmless the object may appear. Today we are taking a look at several toys that sadly have actually taken the lives of a few children and adults in the past. Let me know in the comments down below if you have ever played with any of these toys before OR if you've had a close call with a few others?

Yeah, my grandma called up worried about the pokeballs. "You need to get rid of them, they will kill you." "Grandma, I'm 11 and I'm not stupid enough to try to eat the poke balls."
Edit : Random comment but my mom brought all my toys when she moved. I am now in possession of my old Jurassic Park T Rex and my cat hates it. He stares at it with a death stare. I even walked in on him attacking the T Rex. He has a new enemy.

Me and my brother never got hurt/killed by toys as kids, and we *intentionally* hit each other with 'em, *while* our parents were right there! Even the missile launchers that came with action figures and on vehicles barely fazed us. 😀

My dad found a box of lawn darts a few years ago. It's an alright backyard game; most of the fun is just the novelty that you're playing something banned for being "so dangerous." As long as you don't throw them at anyone, it's completely safe.

I had Jarts back in the mid 80's. Me and my brother ignored the ring target and threw them strait up in the air, then we would run in a circle with our hands over our heads. The point of our modified game was to not get hit. We had a few very close calls and Dad-O threw them in the trash. I miss the 80's.

I played with Jarts as a kid. I believe I got the Pokémon toys for my daughter since that was her favorite thing growing up. Unfortunately kids will do dumb things sometimes ( referring to the older ones, 8+) As a parent, grandfather & Uncle, I do not understand how you are negligent enough to allow an infant something that they could choke or get smothered with. It shouldn't take Burger King or any other franchise to tell me how to protect my child, it really is just common sense.

I just have to wonder how it happened exactly. I mean when I was little I got to play with lots of dangerous stuff. I never wanted to swallow any of it or throw jarts at someone. We had bb guns that are strong enough to break glass but we didn't go shooting each other although I had one friend who tried and he didn't remain a friend for long after that. Its just how in the world did all this happen and id probably be one of the first to want to see what something tasted like yet I knew it wasn't meant for eating so I didn't. It boggles my mind why some kids thought it was ok.

I have been building plastic kits since I was 12, using a sharp knife to cut the parts off the sprue (I went through a lot of sticking plaster as a boy), plus all the paints and glues were either toxic or inflammable - probably both. Anything can kill you if you let it. An excellent video, as always. Thank you.

    • @jamiegagnon6390
      @jamiegagnon6390 3 года назад

Yep, exacto knives are still getting their shots at me. I had my first one at 10(56 years ago). I've accidentally sliced my wrist for ten stitches, had them twice roll off the table and plant themselves in me (left thigh, right foot) opened fingertips, cut through fingernails and nearly threatened my ability to father children. I laughed out loud every single time; it was never the exacto knife which was the cause, but always my own failure to use it safely.

One of my classmates had the laser tag stuff. There was even a cartoon. Toy guns were awesome before the orange plugs. I remember searching for the non orange ones and finding them for a while in the stores. Had a few of the older capguns. I got in trouble for having a broken bb pistol at school using it as a toy. Thought it was so cool cause it was metal and everything. As a kid then you didn't even think that way. The bb pistol was missing parts to function but looked the part. I had buddies that got into a bb gun shootout with each other. Came to school with a bb stuck in his cheek and grounded by the parents forever

I used to have one of those mini hammocks. My brother and I would get twisted up in them all the time but never suffered any kind of strangulation. Some of these are the result of parents not watching their kids carefully. As a parent myself, I know its not easy to keep an eye on a child all the time. Its good for toy companies to have safety measures in place and to think through these potential scenarios when it comes to making kid toys. However, parents have a responsibility too.

    Another "Lengenday" choice!
We had lawn darts as kids, back in the 70s. I remember just throwing them in the air. My brothers would try to throw them over the house.
I had the Battlestar Galactica ships, one had a missile that would only pop out, the other would fire.

I'll bet lego and the other plastic building bricks were involved in numerous deaths.

I had the Jarts as a kid, I remember using a elastic band to attach G.I Joes to them.

And now we know why we have so many warning labels and caution toys... Thanks for another great vid Laura!🙏🤘
I have to admit though that while this is definitely dark, it’s also oddly comical. It’s terrible these things happened, but how could parents not know this could happen with toys like Jarts. Also, putting a bunch of chocking hazards in kids meals seems just plane dumb. Feels more like poor planning for kids toys and slightly oblivious parenting or adult negligence in some cases.🤷‍♂️

I wanted the BSG stuff so bad, considering I was about 6, I think I know why I never got these toys.

I played with a set of "Jarts" in the 80's. One of them became embedded in the roof of the shed in my dad's backyard in the country, which I had to climb a ladder and remove. 🤣

We found some of the old style Jarts back in the late 80s/early 90s in the garage, and dad took them and threw them out when he saw us playing with them.
