The fact that the 6931 build had a slow fade out of the "Preparing your Desktop" screen to then slowly fading in the desktop, that's junk you'd think people would do nowadays, but to see i was in a pre-beta build of Windows 7, in addition to that progress bar for the boot is kinda crazy!

Fun fact, Windows 7 was released to critical acclaim in the year 2009 and called as the "Snow Leopard killer" - Snow Leopard being Apple's Mac OS X version 10.6, also released in the same year to critical acclaim. Personally, I was 18 at that time and had just started college. Windows 7 brought a lot of college memories and I always wanted a Mac/iPhone since forever but they were too expensive. I mean you do have the mica effect in Windows 11 which brings back transparency but it only makes it so you can see through the wallpaper as opposed to anything behind it which literally doesn't make it true transparency. (Pun not intended).
It would be nice, although I think that development versions are still leaking, I remember that, for example, versions with the first references to the Windows Store or the Start screen have been leaked, obviously they were nothing more than simple placeholders.
I know that beta build 6608 of Windows 7 which was compiled on May 11th, 2008. This was the same exact day that I turned 24 years old which was on May 11th, 2008. Now I´m 39 years old.

Would be nice if you did a video of the development of Windows 11. Or maybe there was no development, its just that in the summer of 2021 when everyone thought that Microsoft was stuck on Windows 10, all the sudden, Microsoft anounces "Introducing Windows 11". Now people thinking whether Windows 11 is a good version like Windows XP or Windows 7 or a bad version like Windows ME or Windows 8, they seem to just not know about it.
I think OEM exclusive releases of builds advertised after Windows 3.1x are directly embedded into the main OS itself as opposed to separate releases. Though there are various OEM recovery CDs and DVDs of newer versions.

One hour of mjd CANT WAIT!
I still miss the Aero Glass + Aurora visual style of Windows Vista and Windows 7. It just looked so good (most of the time). Even Windows 11, though improved from 10, feels bland and incomplete in comparison.
I mean you do have the mica effect in Windows 11 which brings back transparency but it only makes it so you can see through the wallpaper as opposed to anything behind it which literally doesn't make it true transparency. (Pun not intended).
14:53 omg that's so beautiful! Where have the designs gone over the years.. Why good style of everything ended with Windows 7
You mean Why good style of everything ended with windows 8.1
The best Windows since XP.
Awesome video! It would be cool to see a Windows 8 upgrade saga video happen one day.
Windows 7 is simply the best version of Windows alongside Windows XP.
It would be nice, although I think that development versions are still leaking, I remember that, for example, versions with the first references to the Windows Store or the Start screen have been leaked, obviously they were nothing more than simple placeholders.
@@konman2809 However Windows XP = the Windows XPerience
Windows 8.1 is best Windows version
I just noticed 1 video left until 700 total videos on this channel
That comic sans looks glorious😂 It never gets old.
"[...] I don't want to jinx myself" has to be the most often-used sentence in this video XD
I know that beta build 6608 of Windows 7 which was compiled on May 11th, 2008. This was the same exact day that I turned 24 years old which was on May 11th, 2008. Now I´m 39 years old.
The Taskmanager took Always on Top to another level...
Literally it's one level above the mouse cursor. 😂
These vids are amazing! Keep it up my guy!
I actually have the exact same laptop in my collection, also running Windows 7. I got mine for 8€. Nice! For context, i buy old laptops and computer stuff locally online. i have over 8 working laptops and even more desktops.
try sending some to micheal if you can please
I live in Europe, and i dont have any special editions or sth like that? Would he even be intrested?
@@kanaest Well you know that iBook Michael got (the orange one) was just like any old iBook and he still was able to give us two interesting videos. So I think that he would be interested in them as long as you don't format the drive (anything personal Michael can just blur out if you have stuff that you're not too happy to shear with the viewers)
I miss windows 7, I never thought I'd like a version better than XP but then I met 7❤
9:28 I am surprised that I am watching this on Oct 3, 2023 in Singapore! :)
I listen to this video to go to sleep. Not meant as an insult I just find your stuff relaxing.
6:28 I'm not gonna lie, I totally expected a Linode sponsorship segment.
My favorite OS Is here! Thanks for this video Michael! Really apreciate it!!!!! !
Despite its hate i think windows 8 would also be an interesting one to look at
the most interesting in my opinion, software aero was peak interface, this means aero out of the box, without a powerful gpu or drivers
@@namesurname4666 I wonder why they made it out of the box
@@Radkeyboard7984 because it's software aero, not hardware, it uses less gpu and can run on older pc
@@namesurname4666 then why didn’t they made a software areo theme for windows 10
Funny enough 31:26, I have Task Manager Pinned to my Taskbar to this day.
that's good to see our old OS friend windows 7 featuring in a video....
now, to wait for the windows 8 (or 8.1 depending on if he does both in the same video) upgrade saga
this is the first video I’ve watched of yours in a pretty long time and it’s great
1:00
You say that like we dont want a mega long viedo
Restored an AIO machine and it felt so right to have win7 running on it. Owner is gonna love it
OMG I completely forgot about Whistler!
There is a Consumer Preview version of Windows 8 that can run on the 98PC, I tested it on real hardware that doesn't have a PAE/NX bit.
Xp and 7 are my favorite, My parent's desktop is still running perfectly fine on 7.
I'm currently making dinner and listening to this video as a podcast. Mostly because I like these tech topic, but also because I really believe you're Falcon from Gameranx. (I'm watching you 😂)
Betta builds.
Man those were some good times.
You should do a windows 8/8.1 Upgrade saga
9:27. Wow, October 3 is my birthday! How coincidental.
watching this in 2023 and I dont know if this actually useful but it good to know haha
Hi Michael, I think you can make a video where you upgrade through some Windows 8 beta builds, it would be interesting
Hi I have been watching your videos for a while now and they inspire me to work with old computers and electronics. You need to do a collection tour soon. Please comment on this if you read it
it's been over 3 years and i'm still waiting on that windows server upgrade saga
Then spam comment. Jk JKJK
Windows 7 is legit relaxin' i haven't used it in probably yrs :)
Its amazing they actually created a Windows better than XP. I never heard anyone who truly loved XP complain about 7.
Windows 7, what a great OS! Like this channel! Keep going!!
Last good windows edition tbh
Last good Windows were Windows 8.1
Stan Jr. was the one that rode the bike. The man you saw was Stan Jr’s older brother.
Woah.. So much builds...
Now you need to upgrade to the OEM version to get all of that wonderful bloatware!
I think OEM exclusive releases of builds advertised after Windows 3.1x are directly embedded into the main OS itself as opposed to separate releases. Though there are various OEM recovery CDs and DVDs of newer versions.
@@winelectronic101 I was making a joke. Thanks for the info.
