- Marshall Origin 50 demo, review, rig rundown. I'll answer questions/demo the Gain Boost Knob, the DI on the back VS. using a Mic, and more. I'll even try the amp out on multiple guitars. Hear the Marshall Origin 50 with a Gibson SG Standard, a Gibson Les Paul Junior DC (doublecut), a Reverend Tricky Gomez 290, a Godin 5th Avenue, and even a cheap Austin HSS Strat.

You have no idea how refreshing it is to find a RUclips guitar demo that isn't just pointless shredding, blues licks and, well you get the idea - so thanks for that!
I think it's great you represented what most people play 99% of the time - chords, with bits of lead thrown in (especially with little wing). It annoys me so much when people just play boring high gain solo runs- at which point every amp can start to sound the same. I don't even want this amp, but watched all the way through because I enjoyed your style of demonstration l.
No nonsense, minimal talking, mostly playing.
Great stuff, thanks!
Edit: and I just saw where you mentioned you didn't use any pedals, that always makes me laugh with amp demos, yeah it's nice to see what pedals sound like with an amp - but don't leave it on for the full video hahaha.
Thanks again!
Thanks so much! Yeah I was inspired to do this video because of just that! There's so many videos out there that just don't do what you need to hear from the amp to really get to know it across the interwebs!
That being said if you liked the riffs most of them were from original songs of ours! Thanks for subscribing and I'll definitely make more content like this in the future!
Same bro!
This is how you're supposed to guitar RUclips.
Thanks man!
Great vid! +1 for the power amp distortion--that's where the true magic in this amp hides. The sweet spot on my 20C is at the 3:00 position--past that it starts to flub-out with the stock speaker. Currently, I am breaking in a 10" Warehouse Green Beret. Already, the difference is significant--smoother gain, more usable bass... For gigging, I use a Torpedo Captor to squash the volume and send it's cabinet sim to FOH and in-ears. Perfect Malcolm Young tone. Add a treble boost in front and you're chugging metal.
I leave the boost on all the time. I have the Origin 20 combo but it is where the magic is with these killer amps, nice work!
The DI has no speaker emulation. You should try with an IR loader 😁👍 nice video thanks
this comment is amazing. im so glad you mentioned this. THANK YOU
I can confirm that the DI DOES have speaker emulations, but speakers emulations in amps are always pointless as they never sound good. You can tell this especially if you try to add an IR after the DI...it has no high end at all because the "speaker emulation" takes a lot of the high end away...IMO amps should either come stock with and actual IR build in to the DI or have a straight DI with no speaker emulation so you can get good results with Its afterwards
@@dylanpaterson7612 does it sound better with or without the IR?
@@wazda6488 it sounds better with an IR, but it would be a whole lot better if they didnt include a speaker sim. A lot of high ends disappears because of the speakers sim going into the IR
@@dylanpaterson7612 aight, thanks for explaining, looks like I’ll get a loadbox then
Nice production! Imo the Reverend sounded the best through this setup.
Hell yeah man. I love me my reverend. It was strange playing through the amp with NO pedals but that's what I always wanted when people did reviews. I was like, where's the natural amp tone?!?!
Anyone know if the master volume controls the DI out? Or is it a true line out?
The built in DI's always sound like it was recorded on micro cassette recorder.
Thanks Nick! The Origin Series sounds best when the master volume is set to 6 or >, when the power amp tubes get really cookin'! Stay safe man.
Thanks for the comment! hell yeah man, I've been messin with that myself. Unfortunately the volume to 6 or > is QUITE loud for most clubs hahaha! Sometimes I crank it to 6 or > and use my compressor to take the output down.
@@TheSkinnyLovers yep even in the low power mode. I finally bought an attenuater to tame the beast
@@-jeffk3339 haha nice, which one did you buy and do you like it?
@@TheSkinnyLovers I found a used Bugera Power Soak PS1. Running the master at 8 @ the full 20 watt setting when people are home and not rattling the windows. it’s awesome. Those amps really come alive with the master cranked. I only use the PS1 for late night playing.
thanks for this, man! I was curious about the di out.
Congratulations and thank you for the great review!
Can you use DI and silence the speakers, monitoring only by headphones?
I'm not sure! I'll try it out this week and report back!
Hey sorry for the late reply Victor. So I tried today plugging some Tascam TH-200X headphones into the DI on the amp and I couldn't hear any monitoring at all when speakers were silenced OR when the speakers were turned up. #bummer
Can you use the Di out without using the speaker? :))
unfortunately no which is super dumb. (at least if there is a way I haven't been able to figure it out)
There IS a dummy load on the 20 Head I have, so there might be one in the combo. You should refer to the manual… 😊
Have you tried plugging in headphones into DI? How does it sound?
I'll try this this week and report back!
I tried plugging in some Tascam TH-200X headphones into the DI and didn't even get a signal coming through to monitor! #bummer
@@TheSkinnyLovers Thanks for trying!! Truly appreciated. It's pretty much the same with DSL then.
@@presentelaw yeah if it was up to me as soon as you plugged in the di it would be speakers off and there's a button to turn them back on or off
@@presentelaw that being said I freaking LOVE this amp. Gives me all the gorgeous crunch I could ever hope for
Wicked vid my dude. Your demo got me to pull the trigger and order one. Thanks.
