    Origin 50C here. Great amp, very responsive, very sensitive controls, requires a bit of confidence with the knobs (especially with Tilt and Presence). And for that, this is at now the best video, demoing the large number of sounds that this amp can produce.
    Definitely not a one-tricky-pony, absolutely.
    Again, great video.

      Mitch Pearrow Dude, I’m on the verge of buying this amp. It goes against a lot of my pre-conceptions of what an amp should have. First, I wish it was a dual channel so that I could go from clean to dirty. Second, the whole 1x12 really messes with my head as I’ve never had anything that had less than 2x12’s but that tone, at least to me, is pushing the “holy grail” of classic / heavy rock! I have a really great distortion pedal I think will go great with it but I love the gain in this thing and I think I could make the necessary adjustments! Thanks for your review!

    I bought a 50c on a whim as the cleanish on edge of breakup was the plexi tone I was looking for but I didnt want a head. Man, this amp is amazing with single coils. I have a few very nice vintage amps and this is up there with them for tone..... providing you run a better speaker as most say. I have paired mine up with an eminence Legend. Has good bottom end, decent mids and clear tops and is very efficient. Sounds the dogs.

    I appreciate that you play a lot of "Chords" ... so many reviewers will just speed solo single notes. That's okay but I personally need to hear groups of notes, how clear do they ring as individual notes when grouped with other notes, etc... As a simple example, if I'm playing a simple boogie with an open E while alternating on that b & c# note does it turn to mud or come thru clear, even with some distortion ?? answer = Yes. To be honest, this amp does that pretty well. Thank you sir.

But with the volume knob up a bit (on any power setting) it really fattens out, and honestly sounds gorgeous. This amp is designed to be pushed a bit, but also makes a great practice amp because of the attenuator

    • @MichaelYork629
      @MichaelYork629 4 года назад +2

      @@martindeuker39 I also have the amp and when mic'ed properly, with correct gain settings, in real life it sounds as it should (i.e. almost any classic Guitar legend from Beck to Page to Edge to Slash to Satch to SUmmers to ... you need to dial it in for your setting and what tone you want to get. RUclips is not the place to make a call on what gear sounds like, the nature of RUclips to compress everything coupled with a guitar playing alone, without a band never sounds awesome. There is also a lot of clipping in this video, for instance when he plays the strat clean and says it sounds chimey, there is gain driving from either the mics or digital compression from youtube or both. You need the band to tell if the amp will work for you or not. Once the band kicks in you have to make EQ changes. How a guitar sounds sitting in a mix is completely different from guitar store wanking.

    How do you (and others as well) think this might compare to the Retro King 18 watt combo demo'd here: ruclips.net/video/EBvHr0YlFPA/видео.html I fully understand this is an EL34 amp while the RK has EL84 power tubes. I bought a RK that clones the demo'd amp based on this one review. I must honestly say I get the EXACT sounds out of mine that are represented in the demo. It is an impressive amp. While it might not be fair to compare these two amps, it's all about sound impressions. I think the Origin has something to offer although nothing like the TK unit which is a hand-built and hand-wired marvel to my thinking. Regardless... what say you?
