    Took me about 3 days to put it on. About 30 minutes each day before getting frustrated and almost launching my Glock out the window. I let the grip sit in the summer sun for an hour which helped. I don’t put the grip in hot water as houge does not recommend this. You can use solvents and such to help wiggle it in but that will just cake up in time. After a few weeks of trying out this grip I ended up just cutting it off with a blade. This grip is good if you have big gorilla hands but if you have regular human sized hands and feel like the stock grip is already too bulky then don’t buy this.

      Wow what a tribulation. Many others have the same problems, I am beginning to think perhaps some of them shrink sitting in the package in the warehouse etc. But yes, there is no magic cure all for grip, and it doesn’t particularly help smaller hands

    Good video ! I've installed several of these on pistols for myself and for friends. Like you, I just "muscle" them on. Don't use any tools and I wouldn't use window cleaner. Too messy and I don't want it on my guns. It just takes some patients and time. I've never ripped them. I just installed a Houge mono- grip on a single six my dad gave me. Now they were a bear!!! The grips went on pretty easy. But it took me a good 2 hours to get the screw on the bottom of the grip to tighten up ! I ended up making a tool out of a paper clip and having to hold the gun above my head. That is the toughest grip I've ever installed! And, the longest time it's ever took to put grips on a gun. They sure look and feel good. But I'll never install them on another single action. I've installed the exact grip on double action revolvers. Never had that trouble with then. Oh- and I had to put a business card between the grip frame and the grips, on both sides, to keep the grips from rolling under as I slid them onto to gun. Just crazy hard honestly !

    • @shaunstayfree5551
      @shaunstayfree5551  3 года назад +1

      Yes once you get that motion down and you are patient it is very straightforward. Wow what a journey on the mono grip. I installed one on my Colt double action, and it was pretty easy. But at least you stuck with it to get it done, hard to find people with that kind of resolve nowadays. Your info will help if I ever run into a single action wheeler but those are rare too nowadays

      @@shaunstayfree5551 I have several autos. From Hi Points to Glocks. But I've always loved revolvers- double and single action. My "always " with me gun is a SW 642 38 snub-Lady Smith. I know, I'm a 6ft, 240 lb guy, but I proudly carry my Lady. I've always wanted one and finally came across a new one a year ago. She has a slick factory action and beautifull wood grips. Only cost $30 more than the plain 642 sitting beside her on the shelf. And I've always loved cowboy guns. I've currently got 3 22 single actions, including an old German made one I've had since I was 16. I'm in my late 50's now. Its beat to death from years of honest, hard use. But it still functions just fine. I still keep it in an old cowboy belt and holster rig, loaded and ready. And I've even got an old single action-2 shot 25 ACP cowboy style derringer. As far as trudging on to get those grips on, it's kinda weird actually. After working on a vehicle for only minutes sometimes, I cuss and throw wrenches and hire someone to do the job. But I can spend hours messing with a gun to get it just like I want it. Anyway, good talking with you. I'm subbing to your channel.

I have a colt Anaconda, and Super Blackhawk 44m, love the blackhawk all day! Hopefully pick up a few more revolvers down the road. Thank you, God bless

  • @frankedgar6694
    @frankedgar6694 3 года назад +4

    Got mine on the porch 15 minutes ago and it’s now installed. Most of the time was hearing water on the stove (cuz I’m ok’d fashioned).
    It took me less than a minute to manhandle it onto my Swith & Wesson M&P Shield. I used a kitchen butter knife to get it started. I’ve now read the directions and wish I’d read them earlier. That strip of plastic would probably work easier. If an arthritic old man can do it, so can you.
    I got the M&P Shirld about 2 months ago and hat that skinny, single stack grip. The Hogue grip made it fatter. I may now learn to live this little pistol.

    • @frankedgar6694
      @frankedgar6694 Год назад

      I presume you mean that it’s hard to get the Hogue grip stretched over pistol grip. It absolutely is. The first time, I used a butter knife to help guide it over the edge. Not sure whether that helped or hurt.
      My Shield slide refused to come off the pistol and I had to send it back. Fortunately that failure happened was the same day that I’d bought it’s replacement, an M&P Plus. I took the grip off to send the Shield to send it back. Getting the grip back on the second time went much faster and smoother.
      It is absolutely a learning process.
