I bought the Hogue Grip for my 43 and received it today. I put the grip in boiling hot water for 3 minutes. I put just a tad bit of olive oil on a paper towel and rubbed the grips. I then rubbed a little olive oil inside the Hogue grip when I took it out of the hot water. I must say it only took me about 1 minute to install the grip with no issues. Mr. Magill definitely struggled putting it on the hard way. It's much easier if you do it my way. Good luck!

@@bigdogkellz5120 I doubt it, I use olive oil on my hydro flask where the rubber handle is. It tends to squeak when it’s dry and don’t want to use any other oil on my hydro flask so I use olive oil. The lid is plastic and the handle is rubber and haven’t noticed any issues

Hot water and Windex used as a lubricant to put it on makes install 1000% easier!!!

Lenny, got one for my 42. Took Two men and a boy to get it on. But totally worth the effort. Hot Water did help. The instructions I have also recommend cutting off two one inch strips of plastic off the Hogue Handall Grips package and use them as make shift shoe horn. That worked pretty well to stretch the grip on. I have a much better purchase on the 42 now.

There’s a trick we mountain bikers use to put tight grips on. Spray a bit of aqua net hair spray in the grip, it slides on easy but when the alcohol dries it doesn’t move at all and is impossible to get off.

I just put one of these on my Shield and if you READ the instructions it says to cut strips of plastic from the packaging and fold them in half. Insert the strips into front and back of the grip and then start the install. The strips work as a shoehorn and allows the grip to slide a lot easier. It was still a bit of a struggle but nothing like what he shows. The instructions also say to use glass cleaner to allow some extra slippage. My Shield fits in my hand so much better now. I'm glad I tried this product first before I spent the money to have it re stippled.

    Lenny,
I've installed several of these grips over the years. I place them in a cup of water and give them four minutes in the microwave (The water comes to a nice boil, but does not deform the grip in any way.).
Then I spray the grip area of the gun with Windex. Then place the "Front" of the grip on the gun and press the cover onto the gun. It's a much easier process than it looked in the video. I have one on my 43X, 19 and 42.

Lenny, I discovered a super easy way to get these grips on. Boil a pan of water. With the water boiling, once you get the grip started hold the pistol grip and Hogue grip over the steam. Let the steam moisten the outside of the pistol grip and the inside of the Hogue grip. Slide the Hogue grip up. It's still tight but mine went on much much easier than what we see here. Hope this helps everybody.

Guys, trust me on this one. Just installed on my bodyguard. Heat up the Hogue sleeve with a hair blower on high heat for a minute or two. Put hand sanitizer on the gun's grip and inside the Hogue sleeve. Slip on the back first, then pull the front on the grip. Use a microfiber rag and pull it/push it on all the way. Literally took me a minute. The key is heating it up and using hand sanitizer. The sanitizer is much slicker than Windex and will evaporate completely. Feels great on the gun. Can't wait to go shooting.

LOL 😂 Lenny you were really struggling to get that grip on. You forgot a couple steps that make that whole process much easier. After warming the grips in hot water, it helps to manually stretch out the grip with your hands first. Then apply Windex as a lubricant on to the rubber grip sleeve and also the grip frame to make it slide on easier. Aside from the time my grip spent in the hot water (10 mins) the installation of my grip only took about 1 minute. It came out great. Good job with the videos. Keep them coming.

I left the grip soak in hot water for about 10 minutes and used rubbing alcohol in the inside and on the pistol handle, this will make the job much easier than using Windex. With a small syringe‎ or eye dropper, keep adding alcohol in between the rubber grip and the pistol handle while pushing it on and make sure to use a leather glove or a small towel for a better grip so your hand won't slide down. I use the same method to replace bike handle grips👍

There was also a test done on isotoners soaked in pigs blood and dried. The same gloves that fit before weren’t even close. He was acquitted based on racism accusations and the handling of evidence by detectives, not by being innocent...

They're not painted or dyed. Different chemicals make the silicone different colors. I have 3 on my small guns, let me check them.... Yup. Purple LCP grip has been on for ten years, looks brand new. Glock 42 and 43 also look great in OD and black. Never had any issues. Some people have theirs break or snap, some of them are tougher than others. So worth it if you're interested in them, they make a big difference on small guns. I've had to take them off my larger frame guns like my Canol TP9 and Glock 19, I have large enough hands to palm a basketball but they just felt too big. Check em out, best ten bucks ever. Talon grips wear and peel, pachmeyr snap and fade, the hogue grips are tough for years and years. Unless you get one that breaks on install, those are probably bad batches. Just buy through Amazon for return.

I install the G17 version on my G19X in less than 1 min. Here’s the trick .. boiling water for 2 mins. After slightly cooled stretch grip in all directions. Rube your gun grip with Fawn detergent. Get over the front lip using dry face towel & back lanyard… DONE… IN LEAS THAN 2 mins!!! Easy, Peezy , lemon squeeze!!😊

Got a grip to help beef up the gun for my larger hands, but I'm now debating on removing them and dealing with the narrow feel of the gun because I want to appendix carry and the rubber texture catches the clothes...

Oddly enough, once I got it over the bottom of the mag well, I had very little difficulty. Now I did have the rubber Talon grips on it so maybe that made it easier. Also, they move around a bit on the G42. This makes sense since the grip is more narrow than the G43. Just one guys experience.

      Gun Monkey
I have both the Hogue grip and Talon grips. In your opinion, which kind of grip was better?
I want to get the trigger guard undercut in the near future so I’m thinking of installing the Hogue grips because it’s something I can remove and reuse. Whereas, the Talon Grips I am not so sure that they would go back on again after being taken off.

I’m not sure if you have the G42 or G43, but my advice would probably be the same. I preferred the Hogue grip over the soft Talon grips because it added more width and it it really helped me to get a firm hold on the grip. Also, I found it easier to draw.
However, if you are more interested in keeping it slim, then go with the Talon grips. I have the grainy Talon grips on my G26 and G19 and I really like those. As far as them being reusable, I can’t speak to that. Hope this helps.

It’s actually much easier to install if you follow the directions on the back of the pack and use the plastic strip on the back when installing it. Stretch it first as much as you can over the handle when you get it out of boiling water.

I have my OEM beaver tail installed, so can I install this OVER it?
Or do you have to remove the beaver tail and then install this piece ? Anyone ????

Does the rubber catch your shirt when concealed? Seems like it would make the gun print more easily.

At 7:53 you can see that the Glock frame beavertail extends further out .....so there isn't any "gain" in the beavertail dimension. In fact, the beavertail dimension would actually get a little bit shorter ....by the thickness of the material. Also, it puts a ridge into the beavertail that might create discomfort. Kudos to Lenny / GS for not re-shooting this and making it look easy. I guess if one doesn't like it, pretty easy to slice it off with a box cutter and a resin pick.

You know I tried it your way and it works fine there's no need for Windex at all once you heat it up in hot water I used a mason jar it work fine the only thing is I remove the slide I see a lot of people don't do that you actually have a better grip to put it on

Easiest way to install is with boiling water. Simple, heat a small pan of water (2 or 3 cups) until boiling. Put the sleeve in boiling water for about 20 seconds. Take the sleeve out and slip it on. You can still use winded if you want but probably won’t need to. I’ve done this for ALL my compact autos
