i agree gen 3 is the sweet spot. the gen 4 is nothing special and the early model jamming issues were enough to dissuade me, and the gen 5 is too "tacticool" with its front serrations and beveled slide. as a man with very large hands (6'5'' 280lbs) the finger grooves are a big plus for me.
Glock 17 gen 4 made in 2019 for me. I know the earlier gen 4s had problems but never had a problem with mine. Gen 3s are nice too, probably the peak of the utilitarian Glock before they started going more the proprietary road with gen 4s and gen 5s imo

I see more and more police officers carrying the Glock 17 Gen 3 the Gen 5 that came out really doesn't make a big difference it's just more money that they put us stainless steel spring in there and a larger mag release and that's about it plus the front has serration sign it so you could slide it back you really don't need them in the front only the back it's just the gimmick it's one of the best guns out there Glocks been around for more than 20 years now you can go wrong with it I wouldn't waste money on anything else and you could get parts anywhere 💯👍
Agree with Gen 3 models is better and cheaper for LE, Glock generations model 🔫 are same just with a except with upgrades components only. Gen 3 is better for price and more components.
Ya Im not a fan of the front serrations on the gen 5 models that had them, nor do i like the cuts on front of slide rounding it....I sorta like the blocky front of slide...the nostalgic glock look ;) , I went on a glock spree for a bit so I got a handful of em, probably like the 10mm the best .
My favorites have been Glock 22 Gen 3 and Glock 27 Gen 3 (also with a pinky extension) 40 cal is just my style but I am definitely going to swap barrels and mags to shoot 9mm fairly soon. Cheaper anmo😅
I prefer the Gen 2 mainly for the lack of finger grooves but I would agree that Glock 17 gen 2-3 is the best pistol ever made. I edc my Gen 2 g17 that is a Washington DC metro police department trade in. Bought a new oem slide for it since the old one was quite worn and it runs like a top. It’s a boring blocky thing but it’s what works for me🤷♂️
Yes they will just bought a g 3 17 because i have a sub 2000 gen 1. 17s just wont fit a glock 19. But the 33 round happy sticks will fit glock 17s and 19s.
I literally don’t understand why ppl sh*t on the g17 over the g19 I mean their literally twins just one has finger groves and the other doesn’t either more control or less on my eyes 😭😭😭 best most reliable 9mm variation ever in my OP !!
I disagree. The Glock 17 Gen 5.5 is superior and the flagship version, in my humble opinion. The new factory trigger, marksman barrel, ambidextrous slide stop, beveled slide & frame, front slide serrations, NDLC coating, flared Mag well and removal of finger grooves are all worthy upgrades to an otherwise perfect pistol. Mine came with Ameriglo night sights from the factory. I bought a Surefire x300 Turbo B for it and a Safariland holster will be coming next. It is my war hammer.🇺🇸
I’m not a fan of the Gen 5 trigger. It’s not as mushy as the Gen 4 trigger, but it’s still mushy nonetheless. The Gen 3 trigger is the best feeling to me. I like the crisp, clean, tactile break of the Gen 3 trigger.
In 7-10000 rounds, could you break down parts replacement, specifically which parts, slide lock spring, trigger spring, etc that you have replaced in that time, thanks.
I only consider my HK USP Expert (well, soon to have, but often shot, and MK-23 HK Pistol) to be superior along with the HK P30-series (particularly LEM /w grayguns trigger and SRT especially but V1 LEM and a light LEM trigger return spring for $5 is fantastic as well). However, in terms of pure practicality in some fucked-up scenario where my Glock and I are on some apocalyptic trek or I'm back at war, just for the sheer amount of mods and cheap magazines it baaaarely beats the HK P30LS as overall-best-to-own between the two (however @ $600 for my P30LS, soon to be a Langdon Tactical LEM/SRT or DA/SA SRT with their extra-super-duper fantastic trigger job on top of the grayguns Trigger and SRT sears.....and seeing many new Gen 3 G17s go for $500+ still, though I got mine new for $400, the day my house burned down lol. My guns al lsurvived and functioned flawlessly, actually performing equally well as my Glock and HK P30-whgich btw in spite of 1100 degree fire that burnt my house to the ground, absolutely NO melting on the polymer, and virtually no wear and tear in spite of a house collpasing down upon them, though the RIA 1911's finished got a little cooked around the handle, fun fact: G-10 grips survive house fires!) Anyway, HK P30LS>1911s/2011s (Tie)>SIG P226/229/225/220 = Beretta 92FS italian models and 92X> Glock 17 Gen 3. In terms of practicality? Glock>HK>1911=Beretta 92FS For carry? Glock 17 all day, for my size it's very marginal between Glock 19 and im used to carrying
Opinions great and plentiful. Take Beretta 92 ,VP9 ,M&P over any Glock made. My duty gun is Glock 45 shoots really well but my still not my personal choice.

I’ve got a Keltec Sub2000 Gen 2 that takes Glock 17 mags. I bought some 33 round Glock mags for it. Will the 33 round mags fit in a Gen 3 Glock 17 ?
Yes they will just bought a g 3 17 because i have a sub 2000 gen 1. 17s just wont fit a glock 19. But the 33 round happy sticks will fit glock 17s and 19s.
I'm a Glock fanboy and proud of it!!❤
I feel the same way, have you replaced any parts/springs? Besides mags
I am using newer OEM recoil springs and sear springs.
another great video. well done
I literally don’t understand why ppl sh*t on the g17 over the g19 I mean their literally twins just one has finger groves and the other doesn’t either more control or less on my eyes 😭😭😭 best most reliable 9mm variation ever in my OP !!
That was some good shooting there.. and great reloads
Love this Video! Glock 17 gen. 3 is my duty gun and its the perfect gun for me!
@D on duty no, off duty yes.
Is speergolddot 124+p good duty ammo?
@@ALSuspiria-sh1ss nypd uses it I don't see why not
@D I run the TLR-1 on my 17g3 with 148gr+p hst
@AL Suspiria 2018 Yes. I however run the 148+P hst
How can the trigger be on the wall without already defeating the plunger safety?
I just inherited this one last year, but haven't taken it out to shoot a second time to form an opinion on whether I wanna keep it or not.
I just had a cheeseburger for lunch which is the closest thing to Glocks I own so haven't formed an opinion on it either.
That's an Awesome Brass trigger shoe that you have on your G17
Yeah it is!
absolutely amazing video !
THANK YOU SO MUCH !
this video truly made my day ! ❤
Got a stock flat-face trigger job and a 5.2 inch threaded barrel alpha wolf and I can touch a pizza box at 100yrds but I'm no sniper
Saw the 30 round magazine and knew he understood
My Gen 3 17 has never had FTF 2,000 rounds plus. Always runs.
I actually prefer the gen 2 but yea it’s pretty friggin great. Not a big fan of the grip angle tho. Imo best handgun ever made is the m&p 2.0 compact.
Love the MP2.0
What do you think about 17C?
Great if you can find one.
@@gundeals bought one yesterday :)
Got mine today 😎
In 7-10000 rounds, could you break down parts replacement, specifically which parts, slide lock spring, trigger spring, etc that you have replaced in that time, thanks.
I replaced the trigger and sear springs.
@@gundealsYes trigger spring is a common part to replace on gen 1-3 glocks and the rsa at those round counts, thanks for the reply.
My guns al lsurvived and functioned flawlessly, actually performing equally well as my Glock and HK P30-whgich btw in spite of 1100 degree fire that burnt my house to the ground, absolutely NO melting on the polymer, and virtually no wear and tear in spite of a house collpasing down upon them, though the RIA 1911's finished got a little cooked around the handle, fun fact: G-10 grips survive house fires!)
Anyway, HK P30LS>1911s/2011s (Tie)>SIG P226/229/225/220 = Beretta 92FS italian models and 92X> Glock 17 Gen 3.
In terms of practicality? Glock>HK>1911=Beretta 92FS
For carry? Glock 17 all day, for my size it's very marginal between Glock 19 and im used to carrying
Outstanding review.
Think Gen 3 is best Glock on the market.
100%
to say its the best just neglects better gun smiths but definitely very reliable and a great gun
Anything
👍❤️My Glock 17 Gen 3🔫
Opinions great and plentiful. Take Beretta 92 ,VP9 ,M&P over any Glock made. My duty gun is Glock 45 shoots really well but my still not my personal choice.
What ammo brand and grain do you use on duty
Shooting dynamics do not change between 17 and 19 for me at all and barely slightly for the 26
Is someone doing the Lucas Botkin special, super speedy edits or can you really shoot that fast ? : ) And you are looking very thin and handsome in this video btw.
What kind of Glock 26 is that? I've never seen one like that with a light rail.
it's a P80.
Hey, look at that, it’s one of my favorite spots in Lewis County!
That's the one.
Love my gen3 g17 and g21sf
I own 2 glock 19 gen 3 models and a glock 17 gen 3 all black i love them its my concealed carry guns and home defense. I use speergolddot 124+p- same ammo as N.Y.P D and Georgia state troopers use among thousands others law enforcement and security professionals. What ammo brand and grain you use?
@@ALSuspiria-sh1ss 147 gtain hp
185 grn hp for the g21
Perfect combo..excellent weapons
Love my gen3 22.
I can’t wait for him to discover the Glock 21.
Same height and length, just a bit wider.
What kinda holster is that? I need one that’ll fit laser flashlight combo
Nevermind lol
Very nice Video. I concur sir. Thanks
How to you carry this while running?
soft belt, big sweatshirt.
@@gundeals Brand name?

If I could only change one thing it would be the vickers carry trigger on the oem trigger bar. Oh wait i have that already 😂 and its incredible I love the glock trigger. The vickers upgrade is astonishing. If i had the money id just buy the vickers glock 17.
1. glock 21
2. glock 23
3. glock 19
4. glock 17
5. glock 30
What holster setup do you have ?
I have several. Safariland ALS and Blackhawk L2D
