I had hip replacement surgery -- My physical therapist had me do these stretches at every session; then I did them at home on the off days. A year-and-a-half later, I am still doing this stretch (both sides) every single day. I do them while I watch TV. Results: my entire hip and back area are loose and almost pain-free. This is one of the best exercises for stiffness, pain, etc.

Dr. wanted me to take some Medicine for my Stomach Acid & I specifically asked about certain Side Affects & was told, "I Don't Think So."😮 Read up on the Side Affects & discovered, the Medicine would do me More Harm than good even thou some Prescriptions say, "Your Dr. has Prescribed you this Medicine because they feel the Benefits are Greater than the Side Affects." WTFugee 😮 I went home, went "Ole School" & took a Tiny Shot of Baking Soda & Warm Water....Problem Solved. As for the Dr., I got a Consult, a Prescription, a Bill & not to forget, I WAS NEVER EXAMINED! 😮 & have not heard from them to see how I was doing 😮
I have been doing this stretch combo for a few weeks now and my back, glutes and legs feels so much better. I am sure I am going in the right direction towards fully getting rid any feeling of pain and discomfort. My running has drastically improved.

Starting to loosen up now after 10 days but afraid to make it worse as I know it’s only relieving the pain. I can still feel that the disc is wrong when I lie down, if that makes sense? Only able to ramp up the walking in the last few days after doing virtually nothing for the last 7 weeks. Don’t want to end up back at square one.

Excellent advice, I have long term ankle, knee and hip injuries all to my right side, 3 seperate injuries caused by workplace accidents and car crash. These stretching exercises have made a noticeable difference in such a short time, coupled with my own exercises my mobility has improved.

I think I need this BEFORE bed as I hardly get much sleep from hip pain and lower back pain, I sleep on my side. Tried changing to so many different types of beds and, still waking up and turning over in bed ever 2 hours because of hip pain.
Is this stretch exercise okay and safe to do if you have spondolethesis in the lower back / spine ? Please let me know. This exercise looks like it would help many people, but wanted to make sure that it was safe in my condition. Thank you doc. 🙂🌞

I do stretches at night, will add this to morning. Was told I have scoliosis on the left side in lumbar region. A chronic pain person since 10!
