    For a budget monitor, I'm very impressed with the OSD menu system it has. Took me about 10 minutes to master, and it has every setting under the sun, all easily accessible. I'm very impressed with this monitor, it's exceeded my expectations.

    My old Dell monitor packed up last year March (2021), I needed a new gaming monitor but a budget friendly one. I wanted the Dell 2721dgf so bad but then it was out of stock, so I went with this monitor. 3 days later, the Dell 2721dgf was back in stock but I had already gotten this. Felt bad at first but this monitor has grown on me. It has surpassed my expectations and I'm glad I got it.

      That doesn't require a "detailed video" and there is no such thing as the "best settings". It varies between individual units and preferences. The written reviews always cover this - pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-g32qc/#Calibration.

      @@PCMonitors I appreciate the link and the video. But as someone who's not only relatively new to PC building, but also new to higher end monitors in general, a 1 hour + video and a multipage analysis and review on a single monitor is very daunting to say the least. I came to your channel because it seems to most informative but again, as someone who's little to no experience with the jargon and technicals of a monitor, its hard for me to be able to understand the key takeaways and mimic what you've done in order to get the most out of my monitor.

    • @PCMonitors
      @PCMonitors  3 года назад +1

      The 'Test Settings' are very clear, concise and easy to replicate. There's absolutely nothing there that warrants a video to cover it. If you're new to all of this, the most crucial thing to remember is that monitors are very subjective and each individual unit is different. You can't simply copy somebody else's settings and expect that to work, you need to experiment for yourself. But if you want to use the same settings we used in the review, that's what the 'Test Settings' provide.

      No - that's really more of an audio thing and not my area as a monitor reviewer. Not sure you're specifically referring to the G32QC, either, because it doesn't have integrated speakers and you said "monitors sound works". Do you have the speakers connected up to the monitor via the 3.5mm jack and it doesn't work but headphones do when you connect them or what?

    Hi! One thing I didn't see mentioned (correct me if I'm wrong) was the black edges on the top and sides of the screen? The bezels being so thin is sort of offset by the black bars there. Is there a way to have the screen image fill the screen that way?

    • @PCMonitors
      @PCMonitors  Год назад +1

      This is covered in the review. It's what we refer to as a 'dual-stage' design and is extremely common on monitors now. What you're describing is the panel border - note that it is visible when the screen is switched off as well, though more difficult to see. It's part of the monitor panel, it isn't a defect or something you can get rid of - pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-g32qc/#Features_and_aesthetics.

    • @PCMonitors

      The alternative would be for the panel border to be covered by a physical bezel, there are no screens that just have a super slim outer bezel and nothing else. Some models have a thinner panel border than others, at least - this one is somewhere in the middle in that respect.

      Yes, that's normal. Actually on older revisions (like the one we reviewed) you could change some more things in the OSD but I think they blocked some of that off. Which is the right thing to do, you're not supposed to be able to mess around with settings too much under HDR as it responds to specific metadata in a very particular way (in theory). HDR is pretty poor on this monitor anyway, so the best solution would be to avoid activating it!

      As explained in the video, that feature shows you the refresh rate of the monitor. That only matches the frame rate of the content if Adaptive-Sync is being used, which the PS5 doesn't support.

      If you find the price agreeable then perhaps, but the PS5 doesn't run at the native 2560 x 1440 resolution of the monitor so it isn't really an ideal match. And the responsiveness isn't exactly great for high refresh rate compeitive play. Perhaps consider the Philips 328E1CA as a 60Hz '4K' alternative (casual gaming) or a faster high refresh rate IPS model if you're into competitive play - pcmonitors.info/recommendations/gaming-monitors/.

      As covered in the review (pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-g32qc/#Features_and_aesthetics), 165Hz is supported if connected using DP (version 1.2a+). If you see 144Hz instead it means you're connected using HDMI.

    • @PCMonitors

      165Hz is a listed resolution supported by the monitor, you don't need to achieve this using an overclock or custom resolution. If it isn't listed in Nvidia Control Panel it's probably because your GPU lacks a recent enough DP revision.

      @@PCMonitors I got the G27Q, not the G32QC. My bad if there's a difference. I was thinking that in both versions you somehow do have to do the same overclocking to get it to 165 Hz. Nevertheless, the monitor specs claim to have 165 Hz max by Overclocking. I start to get the feeling only 144 Hz is "guaranteed" and 165 Hz MAXIMUM means it's just a random value which you MIGHT get (in my case MAX 149 Hz).
      Can you confirm or heard of this before? Thanks so much, I am a tech newb.

    • @PCMonitors
      @PCMonitors  3 года назад

      Yeah, that's a completely different monitor! The G27Q is a 144Hz IPS-ype model, there is no mention of 165Hz support on Gigabyte's official material for that one, either - pcmonitors.info/gigabyte/gigabyte-g27q-with-144hz-wqhd-ips-panel/. Some retailers might've just made a mistake with that one. The G32QC, which this video is about, comfortably runs at 165Hz as long as the GPU uses an appropriate DP revision.

      The PS5 doesn't support 144Hz or 165Hz, nor does it support 2560 x 1440. You can run the monitor at 3840 x 2160 @60Hz or should be able to run it at 1920 x 1080 @120Hz. But only on the specific titles that support that.

      The G32QC A is a minor revision. I believe the 'A' is actually due to them shifting from Samsung panels to other manufacturers such as AUO and CSOT. Because Samsung (who made the panel used in our review sample) no longer make LCDs. This shouldn't really affect performance much, they basically follow Samsung's 'recipe' - but perhaps the new panels also have a slight overclock. You could activate the feature and see if anything changes in the resolution list. Like if any refresh rates are added (Nvidia Control Panel is the easiest way).

      @@PCMonitors Hi, I've came across the G32QC A variant in the Scan UK site and there are 2 interesting reviews that I want to show you:
      1
      "Beautiful monitor, with deep blacks and a rich color gamut. I've bought it for AAA single player games and I love it. Good display settings out of the box, but I choosed Gamma 4 and I decreased the brightness to 17 to eliminate the yellowish white. I've overclocked it to 165Hz, set the overdrive on the balance mode and reduced a bit the red and green in the RGB menu to reach the color accuracy. Good with daylight and superb in a dark room. With the overdrive set to "balance", I see no ghosting and no black smearing. Please turn on the overdrive to balance or speed to avoid black smearing, because when the overdrive is off it's very noticeable. Don't trust the Gigabyte OSD Sidekick app, always set your monitor with the panel joystick (the app and the joystick conflict between them and the monitor doesn't get the instruction selected).
      In the end, I'm very happy with this display. I don't know how it is with fast paced games (I don't play them), if you play them maybe an IPS or the Samsung Odyssey G7 is a better choice."
      2
      "Great monitor for the money also this is a new revision on the model released last year (G32QC), in this revision (G32QC A) the ghosting and brightness issues appear to be no more which is great. Out of the box the HDR is nothing to write home about as it's only 400 certified but with some tweaking you can improve it greatly.
      I have a RTX 3090 plugged into this with a custom 4K resolution via DP when the OLED in the living room is not available, I also have the XBOX Series S plugged in via HDMI for my OG XBOX and 360 digital games ."
      This is very interesting! They claim that in this "A" revision the ghosting is reducible with the balance overdrive setting!
      And also maybe the OSD Sidekick app is interfering with the actual settings from the joystick menu and this helps thigs too!
      Can I please ask you to investigate this because if it's true then this might be the best 32" 1440p model for that price range!
