I just got one and don’t know what a dead pixel is. It seems like my monitor is fine, but the text in windows 10 is blurry in some programs and it’s driving me insane. Not sure how to fix it exactly except to override dpi scaling on every program that has this issue, which is tedious as all heck
It could be sensitivity to 'fringing' issues related to the the BGR subpixel layout, as covered in the review - pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-m27q/#Calibration. If you haven't already, be sure to correctly optimise ClearType.
I have spent the last 4 hours moping up every corner of my desk and computer because I spilt a waterfall of ice tea all over it and when I sat down at my fucking desk after all that bullshit I couldn't remember how to access the fucking settings on my fucking monitor. But then I found your video and in the first minute you solved my problem. And now I have decided not to burn down my house because I am no longer engulfed in the flames of white hot irrational rage. Thank you for making this video.
Backlight bleed varies between individual units, so that isn't a good reason to go for a different model - especially one which one costs significantly more. That doesn't guarantee perfection in that respect. As for the M27Q X, that's likely a more affordable version of the FI27Q-X we've reviewed but currently unknown if it uses the same panel - pcmonitors.info/gigabyte/gigabyte-m27q-x-240hz-wqhd-ips/.
For some reason I cant select my picture mode and aim stabilizer sync and black equazer they have more transparent than the rest and I cant select them in the main menu it just skips it, I would really appreciate it if you know or advice me to do somthing
Does the latest 2022 model required firmware update as well? I don’t have a pc to update the monitor, and will use the monitor for my Xbox Series X. Thanks mate
Why does it day when I open sidekick "Please check your USB cable is connected"? As in do I just plug a normal USB into the monitor or is this the USB cable that came with it that plugs the monitor into the PC via usb?
Need help! I just bought the M27Q and installed Osd sidekick. When I try to open the osd sidekick program, it won’t launch or even show in the window tools bar. It just pop out “process is running” or “find more than one gigabyte monitor”. How can I fix the problem? I have connected USB port and do cable. Thanks.
Would be worth reinstalling the software. If you've got the USB upstream cable connected (to the USB-B port of the monitor) it should just work. Maybe try power cycling the monitor as well. Leave it connected up (including USB and your video cable), disconnect power... Wait 30 seconds and reconnect power.

Would this be a good monitor for the PS5? Or would the BGR cause problems?
As covered in the review, the subpixel layout is a non-issue for gaming. And is really a minor to non-issue for most outside of that. I do recommend this model for the PS5 (120Hz Full HD and 60Hz downsampled '4K') - pcmonitors.info/recommendations/gaming-monitors/.
Probably because you've got HDR active on your system. If not, try a factory reset of the OSD as you must have some setting or preset active which blocks off various settings.
Awesome thank you! One thing I noticed about the monitor though is that the top and the sides have like... black bars, I checked the resolutions, and it's not a problem, overscan seemed to have sized it correctly but those black bars are still there, it's not like that for the bottom, or at least barley, I thought it would fill the whole screen considering how small the bezels are, or is that just how it is?
That's the dual stage bezel design described in the review. Very common on modern monitors, you're just seeing a panel border surrounding the image. It's part of the panel and can either be exposed (dual stage) or hidden by a thicker bezel (single stage).
Hey, I was wondering would it be preferrable to buy older monitors like the Gigabyte G24F/MSI G241 over their successors if they're available brand new? Because I've seen reviews and reddit threads claiming that the panels on the older monitors seem to be better than the ones used on the newer versions. And I've seen the newer versions have more issues like screen glitching randomly and ghosting on them than I've seen on older versions through my research on the internet.
Or just get the 24G2SP(U) which we recommend instead, which still uses a good panel and is a strong all-round performer - pcmonitors.info/articles/best-gaming-monitors/. For what it's worth, as you commented on it elsewhere, I don't consider the build quality to be below average within the segment on that model. In fact it's more solid than Gigabyte's design in my view (refer to my comments about the stand base in this M27Q view, for reference). Though the MSI is possibly more solid feeling and perhaps it's worth getting hold of the original panel on that one.
@@PCMonitorsAlright, will consider it. Do you consider something like the LG 24GN65R to also be a viable option in the same category as well? Just in case the AOC one isn't available?
Can't specifically recommend it, but user feedback on it seems generally positive. And I've used models with a similar design and it does have a pretty 'solid' feel to it for a monitor of its price.
@@PCMonitorsI see, after some looking around I noticed they don't actually sell the AOC 24G2SP in my region, but they do sell the AOC 24G2U (not sure if it's the same monitor with a different name) followed by its successor the AOC 24G4. Would you recommend that?
Hey man I use this monitor for my series x Xbox how can I change the crosshair settings on it will I need to hook up my gaming laptop and run the software and change it on there ?
What GPU are you using? Or are you using an Xbox Series X/S? You may need to update the firmware (using a PC and OSD Sidekick) if you're trying to use an Xbox.
Hello, when Samsung monitors turn on the blue light setting, the screen turns yellow and the yellow light increases. Is there something like that? Or does it not give yellow light? Like yellow light programs, they emit yellow light to suppress blue. thank you
The warm or "yellow" tint is due to a reduction in blue channel and how 'Low Blue Light' is typically achieved. It's also the case here as explored in the video 18:56 and also the review.
If you reduce the blue channel then you're left with relatively high red or warm-tone light output from the monitor. Which will give a warm amber to greenish yellow tint, depending on the green channel strength. This is explained in the review - pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-m27q/#Calibration.
It should work if you do that. Does it give you any error message? Or does the application not open at all? Might be worth reinstalling the application.
Might be worth uninstalling the software and trying to re-download it. Make sure to get it from the M27Q page (link in video description) as there may be slightly different versions of it for different models.
I am connecting this monitor to my laptop and i am only seeing 60hz max refresh rate ,why? how can i get 170hz on daily use, like browsing . my laptop is hp probook 450 g2
I can't see the menu without an hdmi 1 input and every time I try to select a different display option it doesn't set it to that and sets itself back to hdmi 1. Any help because I'm probably looking to send this back if this doesn't work out.
i recently bought this monitor to get a dual monitor setup. It worked fine in the beginning, but now im capped at 60hz 1440p. i cant change it, as it is not showing up on windows or Nvidia panel. it also makes weird flickering when i move my mouse back to the m27q monitor, when watching videos. i have a rtx 4070 and using the dp cable that came with the monitor. Any idea what is causing this?
No, but probably a graphics driver or EDID bug. Try reinstalling the graphics driver if you haven't already. And try power cycling the monitor, leaving it connected to the system then pull the power from the monitor for a few minutes. Then reconnect the power and switch it back on.
@@PCMonitors Reporting back! Tried reinstalling the graphics driver, and it worked! even the weird flickering fixed. Thanks for the advice and beautiful video!
@@PCMonitors it's fine, although it doesn't have hdmi 2.1 and the ps5 doesn't support 1440p, so I can't run 1440p @ 120hz on the ps5, it limits me to 1080p @ 120hz or 4k @ 60hz. also if you have hdr active you may notice that dark rooms look too dark. so I recommend turning it off and configuring the picture settings to your preference. but other than that, very good colors and very good response time, i’m satisfied
I cant update my firmware with OSD Sidekick, it crashes when I click Update in the about section. Ive uninstalled and tried plenty of times with no luck. Is that the only way to update the monitor and is an update even necessary?
The updates aren't critical on this model, you can probably just do without them. Did you click 'Download' to let it find the latest software before clicking 'Update'. Or did you manually download it, click 'Browse' and then click 'Update'?
Odd. Did you download OSD Sidekick from the M27Q page (link provided in description)? To be clear, you have to click 'Update' AFTER you've clicked 'Browse' and then selected the firmware file you've downloaded manually. F02 is the latest firmware listed on Gigabyte's website, so not sure how you have F03 - www.gigabyte.com/Monitor/M27Q/support#support-dl-firmware.
Hey man I can’t get the monitor to get “found” by OSD it just says it’s not there no device found etc, why would that be ? I have no idea as I have OSD all running fine on my laptop and when I plug the cable given that goes into the monitor it just dosnt pick it up any idea I’ve tried everthing many thanks
Are you specifically using a USB cable that connects to the Type-B (upstream) port of the monitor? I don't believe it works with USB-C, so you need to be using the Type-B port of the monitor specifically. If you're already using that and plugging it and unplugging (and reinstalling application) doesn't help I'm not really sure what to suggest I'm afraid.
@@PCMonitors Hi yes I am using the printer cable thing that gigabyte have given I then plug that in for the correct port in the monitor then I connect it to my laptop in the usb port and it mcan’t find it
a little to late but, bro one question. when i put the screen in fps mode my picture starts flickering, only in standard it stays normal. any idea or solution? i figured out, that it happens when i put black equalizer up. i disable hdr mode in windows settings, after then i works but dont want to turn off hdr.
I'd recommend avoiding the 'FPS' preset unless you really like how it looks. Refer to the calibration guidance in the review and 'Test Settings' for my own recommendations - pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-m27q/#Calibration. You can adjust 'Black eQualizer' with the other presets if you wish, too. Having said that, are you sure you don't have 'Aim Stabilizer' active? That's the strobe backlight setting of this monitor that would cause flickering as covered in the video.
i have a problem i cant lower or higher anythin in the picture idk why i just bought it like 2 weaks and the gamma is too low how do i adjust it i can only adjust the brightness please help
Do you have HDR active? If so that's why, you need to disable that to make such adjustments. If not it is due to the preset or another setting you've activated. If in doubt - factory reset.
Can you give me the picture settings for this monitor? just bought it yesterday (m27q rev 2.0) and i see the color white kinda yellowish in standard monitor
I've only tested the rev 1.0 model which uses a different panel and the 'Test Settings' can be seen in the review - pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-m27q/#Calibration. Colour balance varies between individual units even if the same panel is used though, let alone a different panel. If it appears yellow you probably need to reduce the red and green colour channels a bit.
Same as with most monitors - you make sure you're feeding it an SDR signal. So disable HDR in the game and don't enable it in Windows. Reference - pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-m27q/#HDR_(High_Dynamic_Range).
Hello i really love this monitor which is b Better this or msi does msi havr good color like this one but this lne is mj h better and i can have 170hz in cs go and warzone?
What do you mean by that? Monitors don't require any such adjustment now with digital signals, that is a relic of the old VGA days. It's more likely you're noticing the panel border which is a physical part of the panel, whereas you may not have noticed it initially. Refer to the review for more on the 'dual-stage' design of the the bezels, which is now very common on monitors.
Hey, did you find out if there's any way to enable the picture quality overdrive preset and aim stabilizer (ULMB)? I just can't seem to enable both. I really want to use the aim stabilizer and the benefits it provides but it uses the speed overdrive preset and it's absolutely horrible. Cheers!
It's not possible. It would be nice if the overdrive was set to less extreme levels, but technically 'Picture Quality' would be too weak with acceleration for a strobe backlight setting and would lead to very high strobe crosstalk. Note that ULMB is an Nvidia-trademarked term for models with a G-SYNC module and not a generic term for strobe backlight technologies.
My recommendation is clear and it's the Gigabyte - pcmonitors.info/recommendations/gaming-monitors/. The VG27AQL1A often has poorly calibrated gamma and has no gamma settings in the OSD. I feel it's difficult to justify the price premium over the Gigabyte. Many people like that the Gigabyte has a single overdrive setting that works well throughout the VRR range, too. The ASUS does not and in general the pixel overdrive isn't as well-tuned as the Gigabyte. You have to either put up with moderately strong overshoot or more conventional trailing than the Gigabyte would give you.
You turn HDR on in Windows, the system or the game. The monitor then automatically switches to its HDR operating mode, as covered in the review. It will be mentioned in the OSD and it will be obvious because many options will be unvailable and the image should look clearly different to under SDR. 27:30.
Please help me ! I have the same monitor and GPU Gigabyte 980ti but i can't manage to activate HDR. I have a display port cable 1.2 version. What i do wrong ?
HDR was introduced on DP 1.4, which the 980 Ti doesn't support 'out the box'. There is a firmware update which may help, but seems people have mixed experiences with it - nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4674/~/graphics-firmware-update-for-displayport-1.3-and-1.4-displays.
@@PCMonitors interesting. Thank yoh very much. I will look into it. Later edit: i found that the firmware dosen't help me becuase i don't have a reference card. It's from Gigabyte.
hey, this helped! I'm using a thunderbolt 3(40gpbs)cable to connect this monitor with my m1 Mac via type c but I can only see 144hz and not more than that, does 170hz work only with dp 1.2+ or something? thanks
Im using sRGB for photo editing. Anyone knows better settings(more accurate) for this panel as i dont have money to buy a color calibrator and it's not crutial for me!
The 'sRGB' setting is the most appropriate for you as it's the only way to accurately restrict the gamut to ~sRGB on this monitor. Unless you have an AMD GPU, then there's an alternative as covered in the review - pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-m27q/#Colour_reproduction.
Yup. It can run at 1920 x 1080 as explored in the review (pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-m27q/#Interpolation_and_upscaling ) and includes a '4K' downsampling mode to allow a '4K' UHD signal to be used.
What you call 'upscaling' in this context is covered in the review, the section I linked to earlier. See the italicised text in the final paragraph there as well. Either the monitor runs at its native WQHD. In which case it displays that content is the same as any other WQHD model and the software or system is in charge. Or it is sent an actual Full HD signal by the system because that's the resolution the system is running at. In which case the monitor also runs at that resolution, using interpolation. There are no other behaviours between those.
Depends on the cable you have and what you're trying to do. For OSD Sidekick you must connect to the USB-B port (square shaped one), doesn't matter what USB port on your system your connected to as the cable dictates that.

The RTX 3060 supports G-SYNC compatible mode. Everything you need to know aside from that is covered in the review, or is a GPU performance not monitor related question so not my area.
Your reply disappeared for some reason. To answer your questions: 1) The RTX 3060 supports 'G-SYNC Compatible Mode', which can be used on the M27Q. Just like the RTX 3090 used in this review. 'G-SYNC Compatible' is what you call G-SYNC that runs on an Adaptive-Sync ('FreeSync') monitor. pcmonitors.info/articles/nvidia-g-sync-vrr-technology/#G-SYNC_Compatible_Monitors 2) The 'SS' port you were referring to is USB Type-B. You use a USB Type-A to Type-B cable. That cable connects USB on your PC (Type-A) to the USB upstream port (Type-B) of the monitor.
You can try using the USB-C port of the monitor (so USB-C to USB-C) because that supports data transfer. I just have an odd feeling it specifically needs to use the USB-B port but might be wrong. You can get a USB-C to USB-B cable if that doesn't work.
Hi! I got the same monitor this week and I've noticed that it's got a black border of wasted pannel, it's like 1cm thick. Windows resolution is 100% at 1440p. Is this normal?
Yes, you can see it in the review as well. It's a panel border, a physical part of the panel which makes up the inner part of the 'dual stage' bezel design. This is extremely common on modern monitors.
Hello, I just bought this monitor and everytime I turn off my pc or my screen, it doesn't keep my previous settings, it just reset back to default. So I have to go back to the menu and load the setting everytime. Do you know what to do to prevent this ?
I'm not sure why it would be doing that, especially if you're using the 'Custom' presets. If you're using OSD Sidekick perhaps that's causing some issues, I'd suggest trying without that.
I'm not using OSD sidekick either. But most of my settings are not available like in your vid. I only have access to brightness for exemple. Maybe that's the problem, something is missing.
Yes, we always use the DP cable provided if one is provided (and mention this in the calibration section - pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-m27q/#Calibration ). The cable isn't the issue, it's that your GPU doesn't support DP 1.4.
It only can based on theoretical bandwidth. But in practice this model likes a DP 1.4 signal for 170Hz which is why you don't have the refresh rate listed.
That's interesting because I can use Aim stabilizer with Freesync on, Also my black equalizer defaults to 0 and maxes at 10 rather than starting at 10.
Good news that you can use both. I did not know that was possible. Do you find the aim stabilizer useful? Wondering getting the new Oled 4k 32" for my ps5, but not sure I can use AMD and aim stabilizer at the same time
Speed is "faster", hence the name. But it introduces a massive amount of overshoot as explored in the review - pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-m27q/#Responsiveness. See which setting you prefer, most would find the overshoot with 'Speed' too high. Also noted in the review to use 'G-SYNC Compatible': "you need to connect the monitor up via DisplayPort and enable ‘AMD FreeSync Premium’ in the ‘Gaming’ section of the OSD. This enables Adaptive-Sync on the monitor and will unlock the appropriate settings in Nvidia Control Panel. "
@@PCMonitors ok so im choosing picture quality now and u said in your viedo thats picture quality and other peopls too said thats picture quallity is the fatest one and yea im using Freesync and enabled vertical sync and G-sync from control panel but what i need to know now what should i use speed or picture quality for games ? and already for most of using ?
How do I get 170hz on this monitor? Im using HDMI to hook up my Asus Rog Strix gaming laptop to the monitor and its just stuck at 144hz. Anyone know how to fix this? Do I need to set something in Windows?
Does the osd sidekick program not work with this monitor? Or you didn't know about it? Was just wondering why you where using the physical button instead of the software they have available?
Didn't you watch the video or pay attention to the timestamps? Both methods are covered. OSD Sidekick isn't useful for everyone (i.e. games console users or if you're actually in a game or full screen application making adjustments). And it doesn't include every setting and it doesn't list the 'Custom1', 'Custom2' and 'Custom3' presets. So it's not a complete replacement for the main OSD controls.
@@PCMonitors nah I just had the video playing for the most part because I also have the Gigabyte Fi27q-p so I was already familiar with the settings. My bad, I wasn't trying to knock your review or anything was just confused from the point of the video I saw. Great indept review though!
Aha got it! Yes it probably would be easier from my perspective to go through the settings using the program. But I like to show the normal system as well. :)
@@PCMonitors completely understandable. Keep up the great reviews. This monitor is arriving here today. Hey bro liked your video I bought this monitor and enabled refresh rate in monitor to 165hz and when I play any game its still at 165hz it doesn't change can you please help???
I assume you're asking how to enable VRR (Adaptive-Sync / FreeSync / G-SYNC Compatible). This is covered in the review - pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-m27q/#VRR_Variable_Refresh_Rate_technology.
It should just be listed in Nvidia Control Panel as shown in the review (end of this section - pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-m27q/#Features_and_aesthetics ).
Might be worth power cycling the monitor. Leave it connected to the system and switched on, disconnect the monitor from the power... Wait at least 30 seconds and plug the monitor back into the power.
Any setting for the ps5 I should use Ik ps5 doesn’t support 1440p but it will sooonn hopefully atleast any setting I should change when I get it and if so what should I change
Refer to the calibration section of the review for some suggestions - pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-m27q/#Calibration. Our unit was set up per the 'Test Settings', but the best settings vary between units and depends on preferences. So I'd recommend you just see how you find it 'out of the box', adjust brightness so it's comfortable for you and keep 'Overdrive' set to 'Picture Quality'. If you notice obvious tints for the colours then feel free to adjust the colour channels (e.g. if things look cool-tinted reduce blue channel slightly and perhaps green channel just a little).
Entirely down to personal preferences, but Aim Stabilizer on this monitor is terrible. Most people would find it unusable even if they usually enjoy strobe backlight modes (covered in the review).
Scaling issue My M27Q says the resolution under Gaming is 3840x2160 but I want my resolution in windows 1440p which is what windows is set for but in windows it says active signal is 3840x2160 and Desktop mode 2560x1440 so it makes text look very rough and inconstant thickness. Might be an odd firmware issue, have you tried updating that with Gigabyte Sidekick (or Gigabyte Control Center)? And also reinstalling your graphics driver if you haven't already. The black Equalizer is not being saved on Display profiles like Standard, FPS ect i have to move back and forward everytime i change the preset for it to show change, is there anyone with this problem?
14:52. No reason to really use presets other than 'Standard', 'Custom 1', 'Custom 2' and 'Custom 3' (or 'sRGB' if you want sRGB emulation). If your Black Equalizer settings don't save for 'Custom 1', 'Custom 2' and 'Custom 3' then you could use shortcut keys in OSD Sidekick for Black Equalizer. Or using Quick Switch with the OSD 25:17.
@@PCMonitors Thanks for the reply. So far the Super resolution, black equalizer doesn't seem to save on the normal presets i haven't tried custom and going to try. But i just wanted to know if this something normal or is it my model that came faulty? In the software shows selection like Standard, FPS a preset for black equalizer and super resolution. Because of that would be normal that these would be save. Maybe is something with overclock going to tried 165hz to see if the software goes to normal.
Unlikely to be faulty. Just that some settings might apply universally rather than just being saved for a particular preset. I used colour channels as an example but perhaps the settings you mention are treated in the same way - 29:09.
@@PCMonitors I just found out something new, the software program When the computer goes to sleep and the monitor does goes to sleep as well. When you wake the computer up, the software will not work and if you tried to close and launch the software again will tell you that please insert the USB. But the USB is inserted and working well and if you tried to restart the computer same message will keep persisting. Now to fix this i found two ways to fix the problem, the easiest i believe without the need to stand up is to use the joystick back of the monitor and click shut off and turn it on again, once you do that if you open the software would go back to normal, the other way is to reattach the USB cable that is connected to the PC and that would fix the problem again, this seems to be happening every time the PC goes to sleep not even one has skip this problem. I might need to stop the computer going to sleep because i really like this software and is a pain that i need to do this 2 times a day to the least.

@@PCMonitors thanks , yup it will work just fine with my ps5 great to hear . Now i heard some issues with this specific monitor? So did u encounter any issues
You'll "hear some issues" with any monitor on the market, because none of them are perfect. This is assessed extremely thoroughly in the review, I'd recommend checking it out so you'll know exactly what to expect from it. I recommend the monitor so clearly feel the positives outweigh the negatives. :)
There are many factors affecting viewing comfort - pcmonitors.info/articles/factors-influencing-pc-monitor-viewing-comfort/. Don't be afraid to lower brightness further or try the Low Blue Light (LBL) settings. Make sure you've run through the ClearType as advised in the review if using Windows, too.
Hi, at 12:53. If I use 24" inch, will that also affect the games, and help increase FPS? Like...some really heavy games that I can only play at 1920x1080p 24" resolution. I wanna buy this monitor so I can play at 27" in some light games, and adjust it to 24" at some heavy game.
No, the setting does not change the resolution it just changes the screen area covered as demonstrated. But like any monitor you set that to what you want in the system or game. And the experience you can expect when doing that is covered in the review - pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-m27q/#Interpolation_and_upscaling.
@@PCMonitors Thanks alot. Now i'm having a new problems, I use HDMI to HDMI on this monitor with GT 1030. I successfully downloaded and installed the OSD Sidekick, but when open, it shows "Please check if your USB Cable is connected instead of "Process is Running". How may I fix this :( ? Thank you.
You're probably using HDR which blocks off such settings. The FPS mode is just a preset that messes up the image, you probably want to avoid using it and make manual adjustments with the 'Standard' setting instead, as advised in the video.
That sounds normal. It is supposed to artificially raise dark detail as explained in the video, not look 'natural'. Keeping it disabled ('0') would be best for more faithful reproduction of content.

Thanks for the good job. My M27Q had three dead pixels so I'm waiting for the replacement unit. Can't wait to try all that out.

You heared about the m27q-x? Thinking about buying that, since my actual m27q which I bought a week ago has kinda a strong backlight bleeding spot :/

@@PCMonitors thx!
Does the latest 2022 model required firmware update as well? I don’t have a pc to update the monitor, and will use the monitor for my Xbox Series X. Thanks mate
Gigabyte applies the latest firmware available at the factory, so you shouldn't need to update newer units of this model.
Can you use display mode (25") along with strobing?
Aim Magnifier only works when HDR is turned off in the game options
Yes, it's noted in the video that the feature can't be used with HDR or 'Aim Stabilizer'.
When it comes to video quality (like movie watching) which is better, Gigabyte M27Q or LG 27GL850-B Ultra Gear?
The M27Q, given the stronger contrast.
Great video! Did you hear a hiss/hum from the back when changing the frequency to 170hz? 144 or 60hz doesn't have the noise.
I don't recall any coil whine or similar noise, but I haven't used the monitor for a long time.
Why does it day when I open sidekick "Please check your USB cable is connected"? As in do I just plug a normal USB into the monitor or is this the USB cable that came with it that plugs the monitor into the PC via usb?
You connect a USB cable between your PC and the USB-B port of the monitor (square shaped one labelled 'SS' for 'Super Speed').
Hello and help, i have some problem. I can use only Brigtness setting, all other settings are blocked. Why ?
Nice video, can you show the refresh rate options in windows? It jumps from 170 to 144, or has 165? Thanks.
Covered in the written review - pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-m27q/#Features_and_aesthetics.
The 24G2U is the old model we've reviewed, feel free to check that out. It's a good monitor overall. The 24G4 I wouldn't recommend.

Yes, any Windows system with USB is fine.
@@PCMonitors now that I finally got it all downloaded, it's saying I need a USB to USB cable to open the OSD sidekick 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
You might need to use the USB-B port (normal upstream port). If that's the case you'd presumably need a USB-C to USB-B cable or a suitable adaptor.
I watched it, just wanted to make sure that there was no yellow light on the screen.
@6:00 I have the Usb b upstream connected and the osd software running, but no state show up.. did I do something wrong?
It should work if you do that. Does it give you any error message? Or does the application not open at all? Might be worth reinstalling the application.
@@PCMonitors possibly an update needed?
Might be worth uninstalling the software and trying to re-download it. Make sure to get it from the M27Q page (link in video description) as there may be slightly different versions of it for different models.

No, but probably a graphics driver or EDID bug. Try reinstalling the graphics driver if you haven't already. And try power cycling the monitor, leaving it connected to the system then pull the power from the monitor for a few minutes. Then reconnect the power and switch it back on.

@@PCMonitors There is no download button, only browse and update. I just click Update and it crashes. The firmware version is F 03

You can adjust 'Black eQualizer' with the other presets if you wish, too. Having said that, are you sure you don't have 'Aim Stabilizer' active? Do you have HDR active? If so that's why, you need to disable that to make such adjustments. If not it is due to the preset or another setting you've activated. If in doubt - factory reset.
@@PCMonitors yeah i have the HDR on thank you so much
Can you give me the picture settings for this monitor? just bought it yesterday (m27q rev 2.0) and i see the color white kinda yellowish in standard monitor
Hey how do you turn off the HDR on this monitor?
Same as with most monitors - you make sure you're feeding it an SDR signal. So disable HDR in the game and don't enable it in Windows. Reference - pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-m27q/#HDR_(High_Dynamic_Range).

@@PCMonitors hello i bought 240hz 1440p agon i like it but no sharpness option why

Hi, the picture section on my monitor is blacked out. I’m on ps5 any help?
Probably because you're running the system in HDR.
Gigabyte M27Q or Asus TUF Gaming VG27AQL1A?
Perhaps I missed it, but how do I turn on HDR or verify whether it’s on or off?
You turn HDR on in Windows, the system or the game. The monitor then automatically switches to its HDR operating mode, as covered in the review. It will be mentioned in the OSD and it will be obvious because many options will be unvailable and the image should look clearly different to under SDR. 27:30.

Yup. It can run at 1920 x 1080 as explored in the review (pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-m27q/#Interpolation_and_upscaling ) and includes a '4K' downsampling mode to allow a '4K' UHD signal to be used.
@@PCMonitors oh great, I will order it right now
@@PCMonitors just another question if you don't mind, will upscale 1080p video as well?
What you call 'upscaling' in this context is covered in the review, the section I linked to earlier. See the italicised text in the final paragraph there as well. Either the monitor runs at its native WQHD. In which case it displays that content is the same as any other WQHD model and the software or system is in charge. Or it is sent an actual Full HD signal by the system because that's the resolution the system is running at. In which case the monitor also runs at that resolution, using interpolation. There are no other behaviours between those.

The RTX 3060 supports G-SYNC compatible mode. Everything you need to know aside from that is covered in the review, or is a GPU performance not monitor related question so not my area.
Your reply disappeared for some reason. To answer your questions:
1) The RTX 3060 supports 'G-SYNC Compatible Mode', which can be used on the M27Q. Just like the RTX 3090 used in this review. 'G-SYNC Compatible' is what you call G-SYNC that runs on an Adaptive-Sync ('FreeSync') monitor. pcmonitors.info/articles/nvidia-g-sync-vrr-technology/#G-SYNC_Compatible_Monitors
2) The 'SS' port you were referring to is USB Type-B. You use a USB Type-A to Type-B cable. That cable connects USB on your PC (Type-A) to the USB upstream port (Type-B) of the monitor.

No, you need to use USB-B (upstream) for data transfer as noted in the video.
@@PCMonitors what about a usb c into my laptop and other end is a usb a ?
You can try using the USB-C port of the monitor (so USB-C to USB-C) because that supports data transfer. I just have an odd feeling it specifically needs to use the USB-B port but might be wrong. You can get a USB-C to USB-B cable if that doesn't work.

My picture menu is grayed out. Does anyone know how to set it back to normal where I can adjust the picture quality? I tried resetting it.
You're probably running in HDR.
where is the check number? and also why am I stuck at 144hz? I have a amd sapphire r9 290x tri-x oc which has dp 1.2
What do you mean by check number? DP 1.4 is required to leverage 170Hz at 2560 x 1440.
@@PCMonitors the cable that came with the m27q is only giving me 144hz, are you using the stock cable they gave you or did you have to get dp 1.4?
Yes, we always use the DP cable provided if one is provided (and mention this in the calibration section - pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-m27q/#Calibration ). The cable isn't the issue, it's that your GPU doesn't support DP 1.4.
@@PCMonitors oh okay thanks for clearing that up for me! But it says dp 1.2 can do 170hz from my research
There are different revisions of the M27Q.
@@PCMonitors yes I didn't realize there was a 2.0 I thought it was just the P
Good news that you can use both. I did not know that was possible. Do you find the aim stabilizer useful? Wondering getting the new Oled 4k 32" for my ps5, but not sure I can use AMD and aim stabilizer at the same time
Which other monitors have you used that has custom crosshair settings? Were they also Gigabyte?
I don't recall custom crosshairs outside of Gigabyte models.
@PCMonitors Yeah, I haven't seen any others neither. I have the new Asus oled, but the crosshairs are terrible.
which is faster in FPS games and actually in most of games speed or picture quality ? and i have GTX 1650 super should i open Freesync or what ?
@@PCMonitors im sorry but i need your help my english is not the best so advice me to which one to choose im playing PUBG STEAM PC
I can't simplify it any more than - use the 'Picture Quality' setting.
@@PCMonitors thank you dear so i will notice any difference between picture quality and speed when im playing ?
Could I download osd sidekick on a Mac? It’s not working for me
Think it's Windows only.
How do I get 170hz on this monitor? Im using HDMI to hook up my Asus Rog Strix gaming laptop to the monitor and its just stuck at 144hz. Anyone know how to fix this? Do I need to set something in Windows?
Per the review, DP only for 170Hz. HDMI is limited to 144Hz on this monitor.
@@PCMonitors I realized it as I kept watching the video. I dont have a DP port on my laptop :(
Does the osd sidekick program not work with this monitor?
I just happened to look up at one point and saw you going through the settings for a while using the physical joystick for a while. I understand this was an tutorial and you cover monitors regularly but I just felt it would have been easier for you to show through the program.
I have the Gigabyte fi27q-p which is has more features but for some reason I've had 3 of them short out once unplugged normally from a socket in my room. No other electronics, cpu or monitors have had issues but the internal power supply completely fried for me with the fi27q-p for some reason so I've opted for this M27Q which is very similar but a couple hundred cheaper. I just missed have 1440p. It's very hard to go back to 1080p after 2k.
I have insurance on the FI27Q-p but can't be bothered to wait for the RMA process with the current state of the world lol.
Take care man
thank you so much
Hey bro liked your video I bought this monitor and enabled refresh rate in monitor to 165hz and when I play any game its still at 165hz it doesn't change can you please help???
I assume you're asking how to enable VRR (Adaptive-Sync / FreeSync / G-SYNC Compatible). This is covered in the review - pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-m27q/#VRR_Variable_Refresh_Rate_technology.
@@PCMonitors Thank you bro I have already setup G sync it wasn't working then again I disabled G syn n enabled its working now.
How should I change it to 170hz tell me please
As covered in the review - connect via DP and select 170Hz in Windows/graphics driver/game.
how do i enable 170 hz? system shows only 165(via dp) should i manually switch at nvidia panel? (rtx 3070)
It should just be listed in Nvidia Control Panel as shown in the review (end of this section - pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-m27q/#Features_and_aesthetics ).
@@PCMonitors ty for fast answer, sadly i got only 60, 100, 120, 145 and 165 at this menu=\
Might be worth power cycling the monitor. Leave it connected to the system and switched on, disconnect the monitor from the power... Wait at least 30 seconds and plug the monitor back into the power.
Also make sure 'DisplayPort Ver.' is set to '1.2+HDR' - 26:37.
tried both with no result:( but thx for suggestions
Can someone explain my the gigabyte m27q doesn’t let me change my contrast?
You probably have it running in HDR?
Why is picture grayed out for mine? I'm not able to select it
Probably because you're using HDR.
Do it also have built in speaker?
No. 24:22.
keep freesync or go for aim stabilizer?
Entirely down to personal preferences, but Aim Stabilizer on this monitor is terrible. Most people would find it unusable even if they usually enjoy strobe backlight modes (covered in the review).
Mine is showing me the FPS120 on the corner how do I get rid of that
Go to 'Game Assist' - 'Refresh Rate' and turn that to 'OFF'.
Why cant i change brightness with srgb?
Scaling issue My M27Q says the resolution under Gaming is 3840x2160 but I want my resolution in windows 1440p which is what windows is set for but in windows it says active signal is 3840x2160 and Desktop mode 2560x1440 so it makes text look very rough and inconstant thickness. Anyone know how to make windows think its a 1440p monitor and not a 2160p monitor? My laptop dosnt have this problem, just my desktop
Did you set the resolution in Nvidia Control Panel or somewhere else?
@@PCMonitors I tried in windows first to set 1440p which is where it currently is, then it tried in the nVidea control panel and set 1440p, same result shows active signal in windows 3840x2160 60hz with desktop mode 2560x1440, 60hz also the menu in the monitor under gaming says 3840x2160
Might be an odd firmware issue, have you tried updating that with Gigabyte Sidekick (or Gigabyte Control Center)? And also reinstalling your graphics driver if you haven't already. If you've selected 2560 x 1440 in Nvidia Control Panel it should actually be 2560 x 1440 that's set. Not sure why that isn't the case.
Thanks for your help but I think its cursed, OSD Sidekick says please check your usb is connected which it is, tried all the ports on my computer, also says something wont load due to security. As far as uninstall reinstall GPU driver seems there isn't a utility for this on nvidea so I'm struggling to do this as I haven't been on nvidia for a number of years. Its okay thanks for your advice on this @@PCMonitors
@@PCMonitors Just to report back I solved the issue. I had to go into safe mode and run DDU Display Driver Uninstall utility and reinstall the nvidea drivers, Active Signal now matches Desktop rez 1440p. So uninstalling from the control panel and device manager didn't cut it in my case. Thanks again for your help 🙂
is there any Software for Gigabyte monitors so you can control stetting whit the mouse ??
Yes - OSD Sidekick, which is covered at the end of the video (see timestamps).
@@PCMonitors Great appreciate your feedback that's is actually helpful to save and load 3 different settings.
Great vid , but can u confirm if it can accept 4k signal and downscale it to 1440p like the lg utlra gaming does with the ps5
I know it can display 120 on 1080p on ps5 but want to know if it accepts the signal so I can buy it for my ps5 and nice upgrade / future proofing for my pc
Thanks in advance
This is confirmed in the written review (see end of 'Features and aesthetics' section) - pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-m27q/#Features_and_aesthetic .
I find contrast at 48 better, I got brightness at 30 but somehow it still hurts my eyes a little bit, any idea why?
Thank you.
Do you have the USB cable connected, as advised? It goes to the upstream USB-B port (tall and narrow shaped connector head) of the monitor.
@@PCMonitors omg, I tried connect that usb B port as you said and it works perfectly. THANK YOU !!!
Good job, thanks...
What to be connected in USB for using sidekick?
USB-B (upstream port - has squashed-up looking head) of monitor to your system
How do i get fps mode on. Useing it on ps5 Seems to not let me choose picture option
You're probably using HDR which blocks off such settings. The FPS mode is just a preset that messes up the image, you probably want to avoid using it and make manual adjustments with the 'Standard' setting instead, as advised in the video.
Does the m27q P not have aim magnifier?
The M27Q P does have slightly different options, so perhaps not.
Does it have 120hz refresh raye i need to have that for my ps5
Yup, supported refresh rates are covered in the review (pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-m27q/#Features_and_aesthetics ).
Hi my black equalizer is 0-10 and anything above 0 doesnt seem natural
That sounds normal. It is supposed to artificially raise dark detail as explained in the video, not look 'natural'. Keeping it disabled ('0') would be best for more faithful reproduction of content.
@@PCMonitors thanks!
Can't choose the aim stabilizer it's shaded , why
Maybe because you've got 'AMD FreeSync Premium' enabled on the monitor or you're running a refresh rate that's not supported.
