    Very good material with these HDR settings. I'm currently playing Horizon Forbidden West on PS5, and the image is displayed on the Gigabyte M32U monitor. Could you advise me how to best set HDR on the console and game so as not to have too warm colors? What I mean is that with HDR turned on, Aloy's face looks too pink, the same with the faces of other characters, while the sun is shining brightly in the game. Best regards and thank you if you answer. Regards.

    I use the M32UC for my Playstation 5. It looks really nice but do you have any specific settings tips for it? Also, i really dont know is i should have HDR on or off.. i read alot about it but everyone are so devided. What do you recommend? Thanks.

    • @PCMonitors
      @PCMonitors  Год назад +1

      The M32UC is very different to this model and I haven't tested so can't advise on specifics. But just generally, you should feel free to make your own adjustments based on taste and your individual unit. See for example our 'Test Settings' on the M32U - pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-m32u/#Calibration. Aside from to brightness, the changes made are minimal. These settings tick boxes we have as a reviewer such as colour balance and gamma and give a fairly vibrant but well-balanced image. Without shade crushing or other issues. But the reason there are so many additional settings to tweak is because people have their own preferences. 🙂

    Is there a possibility to reset a firmware update on a Gigabyte monitor? I have the M32U and updated from F02 to F10 and the input lag is better but the overall image quality is much worse. I have gamma, contrast and brightness issues and colors are more glowing in brighter and darker scenes. When I start a game from the menu on the PS5 the screen gets crazy bright. And is there a way to find out what RGB, 6 axis colors and vibrancy settings the sRGB mode uses?

    • @PCMonitors
      @PCMonitors  Год назад

      Sounds more like it's running HDR and was running SDR before? The firmware revisions shouldn't make those kind of changes, which is why they don't include old versions or a roll-back feature. If needed you could contact Gigabyte and they might be able to give you an older firmware.

    • @flockelocke2297
      @flockelocke2297 Год назад

      @@PCMonitors hmm it feels a little bit like it and I have HDR off in the console and the monitor says SDR. Somehow I think it's something that is not calibratable and is more like a real brightness issue and the monitor is not working correctly. Normal picture for example in the menu is more lets say dull from contrast or gamma and when I click on the game it's starts glowing in comparison.

    Heya is it at all possible to edit the internal values for OSD? i have a M32UC and really want to use the "Super Resolution" as it just feels a bit nicer but i noticed that even at just 1 it adds too much artifacting to the image, is it possible to get into it at all and change it to like .5?

    • @PCMonitors
      @PCMonitors  Год назад

      Afraid not, you can only use the preset values. You gain more flexibility if you adjust the 'Sharpness' control in the 'Picture' section as well or instead.

    • @Thee_Jadex
      @Thee_Jadex Год назад

      @@PCMonitors Oh your right! Sharpness does essentially the same thing and dosnt cuase as many issues! Still too bad theres no way to edit the software itself and i imagine there is a way but way too complicated for me for sure. Thanks cha!
      It is kinda odd they even offer both since sharpness does the same thing, mabye its for someone who wants to combine the two? Yeesh even at just 1 it makes the image quality take a bit of a dive

    Is this monitor as good as the lg 32GQ950 i know the lg has a better brightness but what about ghosting and black levels

    • @PCMonitors
      @PCMonitors  2 года назад

      The 32GQ950 offers a higher level of HDR support (VESA DisplayHDR 1000) and includes an A-TW polariser that reduces 'IPS glow'. The LG also has a more generous colour gamut, so it can be output things in a more vibrant way - but will also oversaturate most SDR content. People have their own preference on which image representation they'd prefer. Both models offer similar overall respnosiveness and contrast (aside from reduced 'IPS glow' on the LG). The LG comes at a signifcant price premium over the M32U, though the difference is greater in some markets than others.
      The Gigabyte is worth its asking price and I certainly recommend it - pcmonitors.info/recommendations/gaming-monitors/. The LG, not so sure about to be honest. You're partly paying for the 'high HDR tier' - but performance at that tier is embarassingly poor as it only has 32 zone local dimming in an edge-lit arrangement. Most HDR1000 tier displays have an FALD (Full Array Local Dimming) or Mini LED backlight with much finer control of the backlight. The LG can go nice and bright, but it can't properly dim darker shades dotted around the screen at the same time. It will often make the image appear 'flooded' under HDR as a result, it's a really poor effort for DisplayHDR 1000 to be honest and they should've stuck with a reduced peak brightness or increased the zone count substantially.

      No plans to review the Samsung but not a definite no (their PR team here in the UK is terrible, partly the issue there). I've got a thread where I share my thoughts on it, I do agree it looks like a nice option for strong HDR. But it doesn't have the same colour quality as the Gigabyte and some people really dislike the curve (is of course subjective) - forum.pcmonitors.info/topic/samsung-odyssey-neo-g8-s32bg85-and-neo-g7-s32bg75-review-notes/.

    • @PCMonitors

      If you don't notice any issues, there's really no need to update it. But you need a Windows PC to do so via the process shown in the video.

      I've tested quite a few monitors with similar features and you can rarely adjust the position. ASUS models usually let you do this for example,models from most other manufacturers don't. Agree it's weird they even let you draw your own custom crosshair in this case, but not change its position.

    • @PCMonitors

      No, like practically all monitors it uses a regular interpolation process. Integer scaling can be enforced in the GPU driver (Nvidia only I believe) - pcmonitors.info/reviews/gigabyte-m32u/#Interpolation_and_upscaling.
