It's very neat software, one of the more complete software packages for monitor OSD control out there. ASUS has a more basic package called Display Widget which works with some of their displays (www.portrait.com/dtune/asu/enu/index.html), but I haven't tested it myself.
You need to connect the USB cable from your PC (downstream port) to monitor (upstream port). The upstream port is the weird shaped one, by the way, not a regular shaped (downstream) port like you'd see on your PC.
@@PCMonitors First impression is that it's far better than LG 850 in build quality and colors, but sRGB mode still feels a bit off. Hey, thank you for this video! You said something about a USB cable, and the programm also demands it. Which cable is it and where do I find it? In my box there was no USB cable included
It's just a USB-A to USB-B cable. It's the type you'd connect to quite a few (non-wireless) printers so it is sometimes called a 'USB printer cable'. The squashed-looking end connects up to the monitor.
Hi, I want to buy this monitor but I'm reading that some people bricked their monitor when they updated the firmware to F04 version. Did you have any issues regarding firmware update? Thanks
None at all, obviously it would be mentioned in the review if I had. And I've updated the firmware on various Gigabyte models. Use the firmware update per instructions and if it's "bricked" due to no fault of your own you'd have to get Gigabyte to sort it out. Super inconvenient, but also very unlikely to happen. The only thing I can see causing it is if you disconnect the cable too early, the system crashes (avoid doing other tasks whilst updating firmware) or there's a power cut.
I just bought this monitors based on this excellent and detailed review (and some others ofc). Did you update your monitors to the f04 ? Did you have any issue after doing that ? I'm a bit scared to kill a nice monitor :/
I've updated the firmware on several Gigabyte monitors. As long as you don't cut power to the monitor during the update process, which is pretty quick, you've got nothing to worry about. And if something did go wrong during the update process that's what Gigabyte technical support is for. Not ideal of course, but you wouldn't 'break' a monitor and be stuck with it just because you used an official Gigabyte utility as designed.
@@MrArgurios I bought it because of this review as well. Just for security reasons, I left the firmware at F03. I haven't had any issues whatsoever since then, it's an awesome monitor.
@@PCMonitors Alright, Thank you for answering. When i'll get it, i'll do the update and test it. If everything is fine or if i get any issue, i'll report it here to inform people who still wondering.

I have a problem using the OSD Sidekick application - the USB cable disconnects me very often and that is the factory cable, what solution can they give me and it does not let me use the application

It's just a feature related to DP 1.4, which some monitor port controllers have (such as this one. Any GPU with DP 1.4 supports this, including yours. Note that we used a GTX 1080 Ti for most of the review.
You can connect it to a laptop as well. Any device running a modern Windows PC-based OS. Or send it back to Gigabyte and they can do it for you, presumably.
You connect the monitor to the PC using USB (USB upstream on monitor, which is the tall and squashed-up looking one). The same cable you need to use if you want to use the USB ports of the monitor for data transfer, it's included with the monitor.
That should only happen if you've set it up to do that in OSD Sidekick or if it's detecting an HDR signal in the game (i.e. you've got HDR enabled in the game).
Not sure what you mean by "black balance"? If you mean the Black Equalizer, you set that according to preferences or for most accurate representation disable it. Our recommendations for how to set the monitors up and how we ran them during testing ('Test Settings') is included in the calibration section of the written reviews. Obviously FI27Q-P written review still to come.
I got the the FI27Q-P, updated the firmware installed the rgb fusion 2.0 and Osd sidekick, the monitor works beautifully but for reason osd sidekick I only can open it just 1 time after that it doesn’t want to open, I have to restart the computer to open it just one time, I have done everything i can think of installing the osd several time, updated the firmware, ect but nothing any ideas on what it could be, thank you in advance!
Not sure why that would be. Sounds like some driver or other program is causing a conflict and it doesn't load immediately when Windows starts. I know in general that audio drivers can cause conflicts of this sort - do you have a sound card or just use integrated sound? It might be worth seeing if those drivers are up to date. Also try switching the sound source in Windows to the monitor (if you don't already) before opening the program and see if that helps.
@@PCMonitors nope I updated the drivers, look in the application error logs to see if there were any conflicts, nothing I got no idea whats the deal maybe with a future update it will get fix.
