This is a great upload. It"s taken me years to finally see the now legendary performance of Aleka's Attic at this 1989 "Rock Against Fur" benefit concert.
Don't get me wrong, since I am a musician myself, River has natural musical ability. He can play scales and chords with ease, and he has a decent or better then average singing voice. Let's not forget he has great timing, as he can sing and play his instrument at the same time. Now for the hard truth- river still was lacking in melodic combinations. Music with hooks. He was progressive and experimental like frank Zappa, and had this hippie flow like greatful dead. But his music unfortunately if it stayed in that style, would have never been huge or inspiring. His name would draw the concert goers. And he hated that! But his music wasn't strong or solid enough at this time. Maybe if he lived to 33
