I just finished the Bench, and it is very sturdy. Wife says with finish it would look good on our front porch! Off to the Stain Store! Donald, thank you for making the video and the plan. Both helped a lot. My 11 year old grandsons may build some Benches during Spring Break next week - we'll see.
Very cool. I also made a video on how I finished this bench. Please post pictures on my Facebook page when you get it finished. I would love to see it!
I don't do Facebook, but I did post my project on Lumberjocks, with a mention of your RUclips channel and this project. We have now built 4 benches to your design. lumberjocks.com/projects/356105
Awesome video. My son is going to make 3 of these as part of a nature trail he is creating for his Eagle Scout project. We've watched the video several times and he's looking forward to building them with his friends. Thanks for also including the written info for materials as well. Wish him luck!!
Thank you very much! That is great to hear. My older son is bridging to Boy Scouts next week and I just finished building his Cub Scout pack a new bridge. Please post pics of the benches on my Facebook page. I would love to see them when they are finished!
Brilliant, that is exactly the type of bench seat I was looking for, I drew out something very similar but yours if far more straightforward and cost effective. Thanks a lot, you saved me a lot of head scratching.
Old video but great little bench. I really like your tools. I have started a nice 18 Volt Ryobi collection myself. They are kind of addictive as each time I go to Home Depot I tend to come back to my shop with a new tool. Haven't found the need to buy their powered caulk gun yet. Since you made this video in 2015 Ryobi has doubled or tripled what they offer.
I like all the new ones that have come out with as well. My general rule for purchasing new tools is to only buy them when they are needed for a project. Otherwise they tend to sit around and take up space.
Using what I have so trying to make this out of 4 2x4's and a 2x3. The rough cut is done for gluing ( only have four clamps ) but I think I may need to use the off cuts for some bracing to support the joins. Will show a photo when done. First proper project after a simple pallet planter so thanks for the inspiration.
I've built these of various sizes, even some out of 2x4's at sawhorse height. Turn the backs facing in and the seats make great places to put your stuff as you work off of them
*TopFineWoodworking. Com* is a fantastic website about wood working. I took various classes as well as finished a one year diploma in carpentry at a local tech college; this is much better than any book I worked out of during those lessons. It explains everything regarding woodworking as well as complements it with helpful photos.?
I like that you didn't edit out the errors in the beginning. I would have preferred some dialog outlining the measurements for the cuts. Other than that , nice video.
Nice. I'm all about budget builds. I would have suggested making a fast offset gauge for the straight edge. But looks like you are eyeballing it just fine ;)
This is a superb wood working book I`ve ever read, *TopFineWoodworking. Com* . Both novice and some skilled woodworker can gain a lot of general info using this reading material. I`ve been very amazed how frequently I use this to look up woods at places like to restore and salvage spots.?
FunWithWoodworking I frame houses for a living but built this simple bench at lunch today out of scrap for something more comfortable to sit on. I wouldn't hesitate to make one on all my work sites good show buddy!
Nice build and video! Thanks for your time and sharing your videos! I was wondering if you like your Ryobi portable circular saw and what brand blade you find works best with it? Thanks in advance.
Dusty LeBlanc I love that saw and use it every chance that I get. I am still using the blade that came with it and have not needed to price out any new ones yet.
Steve SteveS Yeah, I didn't think about that until I had already posted it. There are dimensions on the free plan on my website but I forgot to include the angles. I will add them when I get home. Thanks for pointing it out.
FunWithWoodworking thanks! You're awesome for doing that! I'm just getting into woodworking and love it so far but I'm terrible at it. Of course I don't have grrat equipment but once I gain some knowlwdge and experience I'll upgrade. Again thank you!
Great video. I think you do a great job woodworking as well as video production. Curious though what the songs are in the the video. I just saw them referenced as "music from youtube"
vevevededede RUclips has a bunch of generic songs that you can download from the creator area to use in your videos. These are guaranteed to be royalty free and can be used in any video.
No, it is just regular pine. I was trying to keep the cost down. I took it apart and stained it this last weekend. I will be putting the 3rd coat of spar urethane on it tonight.
you can buy the actual schematics if you cannot figure it out before or look elsewhere for garden enthusiast who measures the actual angles and what actual pieces to use.
Never underestimate the value of an object made with your own hands. I built this bench and I enjoy it every time that I or a member of my family sit on it. There is nothing you can say that will change the pride that I feel in that accomplishment.
Your comment makes zero sense.. Aside from tons of woodworking objects there are a lot of things you can make in 2 hours or less that will last for years...

A man shows how to build a nice simple bench and some people give him a thumbs down? Wow.
Nice bench Bro. Thank you for the video.
Thank you very much for your support. It is greatly appreciated! Thumbs down happen on all videos. You learn to ignore it after a while.
nice bench .....thanks

A family member just asked for one - that will make FIVE from your plan! Thanks again!
That's awesome!

thank you for the inspiration! We are going to make some of these as a Girl Scout project for our camp!

doyle201206 Good luck! I can't wait to see it.
FunWithWoodworking Can't work out how to put a photo in the comments. Its done and tested to 18st so the glue is holding on the legs!!!
That's great! Check out my about page and there is a link to FaceBook and you should be able to post them there.
Sorted, bingo.

smoakngun Thanks. It's the Ryobi from Home Depot.
Nice like to see things that are that little bit different 👍
Thank you!
Outstanding project! I like using construction grade lumber for out door projects. Makes things inexpensive and long lasting.

Great project! I'm going to make me one, been thinking about making a garden bench.

Richard Fisher Awesome! Please send pics when you make them.
Thanks.
What part of your website are the free plans at? Thx I couldn't find them.
They are in the section named “PLANS”. Click plans and then scroll to the bottom of the page and click next. Keep clicking next until you find them.
@@FunWithWoodworking thanks man!... I'll check it out.
Nice. I'm all about budget builds. I would have suggested making a fast offset gauge for the straight edge. But looks like you are eyeballing it just fine ;)
diycentral I actually used the laser on the saw to align the fence. It just didn't translate well in the video.
We plan to make a few of these for the fire pit.
That's awesome! I would love to see them when they are done!
thank you easy and fun

The Little Garden Shed Workshop Thanks!
good video, nice project. keep up the good work!!!
Here are a lot of great woodworking plans that you can try out: LukeWood.xyz
Awesome bench. What modifications would you do if you make it longer?
mookysr I would use longer boards for the seat and the back. I would also put some kind of support in the middle.
This is a superb wood working book I`ve ever read, *TopFineWoodworking. Com* . Both novice and some skilled woodworker can gain a lot of general info using this reading material. I`ve been very amazed how frequently I use this to look up woods at places like to restore and salvage spots.?
Definitely going to try making one of these - thank you for the video!
That's awesome! Please post pictures on my Facebook page when you get it done. I would love to see it!

Great project Thanks for sharing
james shelton Thank you.
Great result - would have liked some captions for figuring out angles
etc
Steve SteveS Yeah, I didn't think about that until I had already posted it. There are dimensions on the free plan on my website but I forgot to include the angles. I will add them when I get home. Thanks for pointing it out.
FunWithWoodworking what are the angels you use Please
I'm going to do this! Thanks
Me too! One for my own patio, and one each for my 11 year old grandsons to build. Maybe with family names routed on the back.
Just found and subscribed to your channel. Great looking bench. I think I will try that design. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!
So awesome! Gonna try this but was wondering on the dimensions?
DJdext There are free plans on my website. www.funwithwoodworking.com

FunWithWoodworking just keep practicing, you're probably better than you think. Doesn't take alot of tools to do great work
What angle did you use?
Grant Kopka 22.5
Nice job, thank you for sharing bro !!

Looking to make these for a Boy Scout Eagle Project, I was wondering what fasteners you had used?
Where did you buy all that timber for $20?
Home Depot. 2x6x12 = $8, 2x8x10 = $8
I just got home from Lowes, I bought treated 'ground contact" lumber though, and paid to have the 2x6x12 cut into 3 pieces $22.51 total w/tax.
Is that cedar?
No, it is just regular pine. I was trying to keep the cost down. I took it apart and stained it this last weekend. I will be putting the 3rd coat of spar urethane on it tonight.
Fred Durst of woodworking
Awesome video man, I'll probably do this when we have fixed our back garden! ;) What song did u use btw? :)
wish you would have made a list of hardware. None gets a thumbs down
Read the full description of the video.
Hey John you see my level?
That is simple, but I think 2x4s are cheaper
You are correct, 2x4's are cheaper. They are not the right size lumber for this project though.
You got a leveler for a straight edge, but you're using a triangle LoL
It's actually called a framing square. I used it to measure the angle to cut the legs at. Thanks for watching!
Toyota

You can't make anything in two hours. Nothing worth having that is .
