    hey man, very informative video. Just checking to see if any idea's on what else would cause the P0013 code... my solenoids looks good. My wife has a 2012 malibu LT and car only ran for 5 weeks from the dealership before it wouldn't start anymore. Dealership was useless in trying to find the problem at first it was "the battery" which they offered to replace which they did not, then it was the "fuel pump" which was changed out 2 times.. then it was my wifes fault her car wouldn't start... so i had it towed from there to a 3rd party mechanic who did a lot of work out of pocket. Changed the fuse box and fuses, wiring pigtail harness and wiring from the fuel pump to the rear fuse box, new battery, clean the Evaporators system, and did all the fluid changes on the vehicle... picked up the car on friday and same shit... stuck in a parking lot unable to start the car. I change the spark plugs today and nothing... they're clueless at what the issue could be just as anyone else... but we keep getting codes P0446 and P0451 and now the most recent ones the P0013 and P0010... any suggestions or advice would be great....
    tried changing up the car but dealership won't help there either.

    • @GearheadDaily
      @GearheadDaily  5 лет назад

      How can you tell the solenoids are good? Mine looked perfect when i took them out. I'd replace both solenoids and then also replace this: amzn.to/2Yk3IL1 double check part numbers, but a quick search shows this to be the most likely culprit.

    STOP CALLING THESE A SENSOR! There is an actual sensor and it's just one on the front driver's side of the motor. You are changing the celenoid/actuator or both of them. You cause confusion by calling these sensors which they are not. There is no sensor in these things. It's basically an oil control valve for the variable valve timing of which that's why there is 2 of them one for intake and one for exaust sides of the motors 2 cams.

    In the case that the solenoid DOES work and I keep getting p0014 (the exhaust vvt) what steps do you recommend taking. I replaced the intake and I replaced the exhaust vvt TWICE (second was oem) and I was about to get another but I realized BOTH the aftermarket and oem exhaust vvt work perfectly fine. (Did this through multimeter tests and cleaned both). I have a 2011 chevy malibu and I DO NOT have any symptoms, car runs absolutely fine and I keep getting this code back. I checked the maf sensor, it seems okay. Tried testing for voltage between the exhaust camshaft wire but I don't seem to be getting voltage through mine when i put the key in ignition and test the connector. I did replace oil and transmission fluid very recently (I don't remember but maybe 300-500miles). I don't know what to do now. Maybe do an engine flush? (I don't think that will fix it).
