Awesome new addition to the collection man. I love the way that cab looks. The side art and the brass bits are very classy. You've got one heck of an epic 80s game room.
What a fun place. Got a pool table or foozball table?
BTW, this game was at the arcade/pizza joint for kids, when I was young. A Budweiser sponsored video game at a kid's arcade. Boy, how times have changed. 2015 soccer mom's head would have exploded, if she was around back then. haha
Tapper is amazing! A excellent addiction to your collection
great tip and "intro", love the new cabs! Awesome as always.
That unit is fucking gorgeous! My all time favorite game. How can you afford all that awesomeness???? Very impressive!
you gotta love that way tapper's music style is.
Had this on one of my Palm Pilots. Loved this game.
That's your basement? WOW. I love how Tapper has a footbar and drink holders, really nice touchs!
Man that Tapper is amazing! I love that game! Way awesome.
So many games from my childhood. We had tapper in the Pizza parlor where I had my first job, it was new then....lol
Blast from the past i had totally forgotten about this game for 25years it was AWESOME MUST HAVE COST A MINT!!!SWEET BASEMENT I ENVY YOU!!!!
NOW YOU HAVE TAPPER TOO?! Christ! You literally have EVERY arcade game I've ever wanted! If you get Big Bang Bar Pinball, I will break into your house!
Tapper is definitely on my list. Nice machine man; didnt know you were local to me, im in RI moved from MA.

It's very rare, for sure.
Looking forward to the Paperboy vid drop!!
Awesome-I used to play it at the bars when they came out. It was a rare one to find as well as Robotron2084.
Nice arcade setup you have there, and the Tapper game is a good one! I have Root Beer Tapper on Midway Arcade Treasures Volume 1 on the PS2 which is cool, though I do wish I could have the arcade Tapper, and the Budweiser version. I myself am an avid arcade collector, as I have two machines, but 95 total games, and most of them are beat em up games, which I started playing when I was a kid, and obviously still love playing to this day.
That's a really cool cabinet and game.
Played this in the 30th anniversary tournament at Funspot last weekend, took 5th place actually! :)
I've got the high score on the Tapper at my local arcade (and yes it's the Budweiser version). It's tied with Star Wars as my favorite classic arcade game right now.
Why don't any of my friends have cool basements like this?
The tokens idea is great especially for Tapper. There is an easter egg in it that can only be exploited in the attract mode, and having it in free play mode like that prevents it from ever being executed since it requires pressing the start buttons. That is a big reason I will never patch my rom.
I loved this game, I first played this when I was 11 years old. An ice cream parlor had this game.
Ahahh, smart idea of that cordless phone battery that's away from the main PCB!
I love this game so much, but I never had the pleasure of playing a real cabinet. I've gotten to the alien stage a few times. :)
Hah! This is awesome. You've got an awesome setup. I love the classic games, but I've really been searching for a Neo Geo cab.
Tapper may be one I need to track down, though. I assume the Budweiser-branded one is harder to track down?
Nice I need one of theses :)
You have a Dragon Spirit machine! Awesome! I loved playing that game on the NES, TurboGrafx-16 and Namco Museum 50th Anniversary Edition for the Gamecube. Have you reviewed that yet?
I paid $2,750 for mine, but it's a cocktail and in really great shape. The only type more rare than the cocktails are the uprights with color side art.
Tapper is still great. The gameplay is simple but effective and it becomes more and more frantic as you progress.
Great, great game
A 700 mAh battery should be fine.
I think the concern might stem from overworking the charging circuit, but usually using a higher capacity battery should not pose a problem; it just means that the battery will have a longer lasting charge.
Another suggestion for a battery mod on the power supply board would be to use wires terminated with a connector compatible with the replacement battery. That way, if you must replace the battery again in the future, you just pull the old battery out and plug the new battery in; no more soldering.
My ucle used to have this game at his house, it is awesome. I am also the unofficial world champ..seeing as how I have dominated all of the space levels.
@blkdog7 Did they fix the leaking batteries in the Root Beer Tapper version? Curious as to wether I should replace the battery or not.
John, on my Tapper on the sports level and the punk rock level I notice bands of color running horizontal across the screen. I don't see them on the Western level. Any ideas?
Are you going to do videos on Paperboy and Domino Man any time soon?
I'm impressed with your collection! How had the battery been working?
Be funny if after the expense and effort, it's like his Star Wars game where he can't beat the scores with initials OBI or WAN or HAN! So many people do game videos who don't play well, that it's more likely you'll see bad play than good.
Root Beer is more rare but Budweiser is more desirable IMO. Bud seems to go for around $800+
where do you get all of these machines dude? :O its great! im so jealous. the closest thing i have to an arcade machine is either the icade jr (for ipod touch) or my vectrex, which is just as good if you ask me :D
Do you know how much a Budweiser version of Tapper typically goes for as opposed to the "root beer" version?
"If you've never played the game, it's pretty great." But it might be pretty great even if we _have_ played it (which I have, both this way and on my Commodore 64). I could never get to the space level, and have only recently seen someone do it through watching them here on the RUclips! Have you ever played it on a Commodore 64, John?
@MrHiu2 No, all MCR games have a battery on the power supply. If it's still on there, you need to get that off! :)
The only people I can figure would thumb down this video are jealous haters.
You have a fine collection. If only I could have something like that ... and that's not necessarily about money, but it can also be about space. If you're living in an apartment and you don't have a spare room, forget about it.
@pbloo574 Paperboy soon! The monitor is being repaired. Domino Man soon too, still working on restoring it!
@baarbear I know that they are generally more expensive. I've seen them go for 700-1300 dollars at their least.
coool game never see it around to much was 1 or 2 in the big arcades in toronto,,,it was to hard for beginers so i move on fast anyhow maybe you should think about renting out a local building and open up a arcade :) it look like it getting out hand in your house
nice game
"Positive to positive; negative to negative..." Yes, of course!
Tapper!!! awesome!!
Paper boy...
another BIG favourite!!
You have immaculate taste. lol
You are awesome!! ^_^
Do you mind if I inquire what you paid for it? I'm looking to start a collection of my own pretty soon
Now that's what i call a "Man Cave"!
cool
tapper will do a cameo in wreck-it-ralph!,
the bartender guy will have a voice.
I’ve seen this one.
I wonder if I could have this game in my basement.
"lets put the tron back together and see how it works" lol scater brain im same way
I know that the Budweiser Tapper game was withdrawn over fears having to do with selling liquor to minors, thus they're rarer than Root Beer Tapper machines. Do you know how much a Beer Tapper machine goes for as opposed to a Root Bear Tapper one?
What's the price range of a "Budweiser" Tapper as opposed to a "root beer" Tapper?
Oops, you called Tapper "Tron"! 😝
I have only seen the Root Beer Tapper arcade game in person a few times...mainly because the Tapper you have wouldn't be appropriate for arcades.
@blackhawkfan54 Nice collection
Can anyone help me find this full-Budweiser version to play online?
Thank you, if you can help!
im new to arcades what is "MCR"?
Try it in MAME!
Why is your Radar Scope down in the back ground of this video?
I have the scene of Root Beer Tapper on Shopping Adventure Season 2 Episode 1 Part 3, so check it out on Casper1563's channel
his basement is worth millions of dollars
I guess this means George Castanza from Seinfeld didn't have to hook up a car battery to keep his high score on Frogger, but maybe just a little one? Of course New Yorkers are dicks if they'd really crash into a Frogger machine someone was attempting to jaywalk with.
Personally, I do not like free play. Plugging quarters into the machine is part of the arcade playing experience. I am currently setting my machines up to take tokens. Tokens give the same experience of plugging in your money, but since they don't get accidentally spent, you do not lose them as quickly.
tapper is in wreck it ralph
Yep. It’s even in the second movie.
ohhhhh that mcr.... i honestly watched the video cause i thought they were meaning the band My Chemical Romance ._.
Ahhh Fudge!!! lol
